Perfektes und interessantes Lernprogramm, dass Freude am Lernen macht

Ich habe zwei Sprachen bei Babbel "gekauft" und war/bin bei beiden begeistert. Zum einen ist es englisch, da ich viele englischsprachige Bekannte habe und mir so mein Wissen immer mal wieder auffrischen kann. Das werde ich auch mit Sicherheit nicht aufgeben. Und zum anderen war es portugiesisch, bei dem ich überhaupt keine Vorkenntnisse hatte. Und auch hier kann ich nur sagen: Es macht einfach nur Spaß!!! Leider musste ich diese zweite Sprache erst mal aufgeben, da ich einfach die Zeit nicht mehr habe, um gleichzeitig in zwei Sprachen fit zu bleiben. Sobald mir wieder ein wenig mehr Zeit bleibt, werde ich garantiert weitermachen. Tolles Programm ... einfach nur zu empfehlen.

Dodgy billing and no refunds available, despite what they claim in their web site.

The only subscription plan they offer is an automatically renewable contract which charges you for the next period at the first day of the renewal. There is no other option and you get no warning before you see the charge in your credit card. I've subscribed to on-line services before but I've never seen one that offered no alternative to an automatically renewable contract. That's not illegal of course but it's not helpful either because it's very easy to forget to cancel it before the renewal payment is collected. And after it's collected it gets better: There's no way to get a refund. They only accept to refund the initial payment you make and only if you request it within 20 days of the registration. That initial payment is one (1) dollar that they charge you for the first almost-free month. I was wondering why they charge you one dollar for the first month instead of giving it for free but now I know: They do it so they can dodge their legal obligation to refund you. The next payment (which is actually the first but technically the second) is collected 30 days later, which is after the end of the 20 day refund period that starts when you pay that dollar. So it's impossible to reclaim any payments whatsoever after that initial dollar. Clever, isn't it? I suggest you avoid them. Their billing plan is designed to squeeze a few extra dollars from careless customers and the claim they offer refunds an outright lie. Their service used to be free and that's how they got their good reputation and now they obviously decided to cash in on it.

After I had tried several online methods, finally signed up for Babbel. I have used the course for about a month in a half (daily) and I realized that I already can understand Italian (my chosen language). I have only gone through half of the beginner's lessons . I am still excited to learn more. I most definitely recommend Babbel. It is very easy and entertaining.

I do not have a lot of time to use Babbel often nowadays but every time I use it I can see progress and I enjoy the exercises. Really very good, for beginners as well as for someone who knows languages at a more advanced stage.

Babbel Spanish really works

I am trying to pick up some basic Spanish for travel purposes. I am very poor at languages so have combined classes once a week but use Babbel Spanish to supplement my learnings. So far so good.

Ich lerne mit Babbel Schwedisch und bin vom Programm eigentlich sehr begeistert. Denn bisher konnte ich mich kaum aufraffen eine Sprache selbst zu lernen - das hat sich geändert. Die einfache und trotzdem ansprechende Aufmachung der Website und der Lektionen regt wirklich zum Weitermachen an, trotzdem gibt es Einiges zu bemängeln:

- Gerade im Schwedischen haben sich einige Fehler eingeschlichen - dies merkt natürlich ein Schwedisch-Lerner nur dann, wenn er auch regelmässig Kontakt zu Muttersprachlern hat oder zusätzlich mit einem anderen Programm lernt, sich Fehler einzuprägen ist nicht förderlich (wie es bei anderen Sprachen aussieht, weiss ich natürlich nicht)

- Wenn es auch nur eine Kleinigkeit ist: Aber alles was man eingibt zählt: d.h. wenn ich mich auf der Tastatur vertippe, dann zählt dies bei babbel gleich als Fehler. Das muss nicht sein und hätte verhindert werden können indem ein Wort erst bei "Eingabe" richtig/falsch gezählt wird.

- Die Grammatiklektionen kommen viel zu kurz. Meistens wird ein grosses Thema innerhalb von ein paar Minuten beendet und das indem man zB lediglich 5 verschiedene Verben in eine andere Zeitform gesetzt hat. Es besteht keine Möglichkeit gezielt Verben und deren Zeitformen zu lernen. Dies gilt für alle Grammatikthemen. Innerhalb von 2-3 Übungen die nicht länger als 1-2 Minuten dauern ist das Thema abgehakt.

- Die einzelnen Lektionen sind sehr kurz und behandeln grösstenteils wortschatzerweiternde Übungen sowie eben die oben genannte "Kurzgrammatik". Textverständnis und Hörverständis (bis auf kurze Diktate) Fehlanzeige! -> Eine Überprüfung anhand von einer kurzen Geschichte/Film oder einem Hörverständnis würde das Gelernte zusätzlich festigen und dem Lernenden eine wertvollen Hinweis darauf geben, wieviel er bisher schon gelernt und erreicht hat.

- Es stehen momentan lediglich 3-Anfängerkurse zur Verfügung fürs Schwedische. Diese sind relativ schnell erarbeitet und die anderen Kurse enthalten oft die gleichen Übungen wie die in den Anfängerkursen, kurz: Es bleibt grösstenteils nur noch die Vielzahl an Vokabeln zu erlernen.

- Ein Abschlusstest über eine gesamte Lektionen (Anfängerkurse 1/2/3) wäre wichtig und würde den Lehrstand aufzeigen - gibt es aber nicht.

Fazit: babbel allein lernt euch kein Schwedisch auf A2 Niveau, aber es erleichtert den Einstieg ins Schwedisch-Selbststudium und ist ein toller Vokabeltrainer (6-Stufensystem).

Leider gibt es kaum Anbieter von Schwedisch-Lehrkursen für den PC, sei es im Internet oder als Software und alle die ich bisher getestet habe bieten entweder zu wenig Spass/Motivation oder zu wenig Inhalt. Deshalb greift zu babbel als Einstieg und Vokabeltrainer + einem zusätzlichen Grammatik-Lehrbuch (Ich empfehle eingeschränkt: Kurzgrammatik Schwedisch: Zum Nachschlagen und Üben, von Hueber da es momentan nichts besseres auf dem Markt gibt.)

Best Language Learning Experience Ever!

I subscribed to Babbel Complete for $125 USD. I am studying four different languages now, and I get unlimited time online to study every day. The exercises are well-designed, and you can choose your own course material depending on your needs. For example, if you need vocabulary more than you need grammar, you can study the vocabulary first and worry about verb tenses later. I studied languages in college, and I can honestly say that I never acquired the same level of fluency in a college course even though I paid a lot more money for the instruction. The online review manager lets you go over the material that fits your individual needs, so each student gets personal instruction and can move at his or her own pace. I am very happy with this service.

die technische aufbereitung ist so einfach, dass ich wirklich jederzeit lust habe, ein bisschen weiterzulernen; die inhalte sind praktisch und vorallem im leben anwendbar und zeitgemäss! ich kann babbel nur empfehlen, lerne selbst gerade italienisch und hab die investition noch keine sekunde bereut.

Don't bother if you're trying to learn Swedish. It's probably fine for other languages, but if you're going for Swedish, avoid babbel. Mistakes galore that they won't bother to fix, despite the hundreds of feedback messages about it. The website has the potential to be great, but the fact that it's littered with mistakes makes it useless. Try Pimsleur instead. Very effective.

Babbel Swedish is indeed psycho babbel nonsense, a dialect of Swedish that is unique to the rest of the world that they conjured from their imagination. If you have signed up to learn Swedish with Babbel, try get your money back quick, and go with another program that will not ruin your abilities to speak Swedish!

Yes, there are many that I've reported to them that they have not fixed. I have a few native Swedish speakers living in my household, and have contacted other native Swedish speakers to make it crystal clear. Perhaps Babbel simply used a translation service of their own that is in error, or is using somebody from a village out in the middle of the woods that nobody is aware of, that speak in a way that NOBODY else does. They often times use archaic words, or simply the wrong translation. One really crazy example that comes to mind is that they will teach you that rejäla means savory. Just go and ask any native Swedish speaker if that is correct and notice the weird look on their face. I guarantee it. Quite a few times, I had to delete words from the vocab review manager, because it was so wrong. I simply point out the indefinite articles, because its so often wrong, that I only saw it right one time, and that when you actually start using your language skills, it will be difficult to correct yourself or get the idea out of your head that that word does NOT mean what you are trying to say, but "the" whatever. It won't be impossible, but frustrating and time consuming, in light of the fact that you paid for this program. They have told me that they plan on fixing just the definite/indefinite articles in the spring time. I have completely stopped using this program in the meantime, and I feel am not getting my money's worth. They refuse to apologize, or at least give me the extra time back that they took to 'correct' their program. I hope this helps. Stay away from these scammers.

Good for learning new languages

The application is good for learning new languages and the app for phones are decent. It is almost as good as Rosetta Stone online and far better than Rosetta stone offline.
Unfortunately the few supported native tongues are written on the questions and assumed understood to gain full benefit.

Man muß keine Literaturwissenschaften studiert haben um das Lehrnprogramm zu
verstehen.Ich habe den Englischanfängerkurs gemacht und fand ihn einfach verständlich und einprägsam.Man kann sich ransetzen und lernen ,wenn man dazu bereit ist und nicht wenn man muss.Toll babbel,macht weiter so.

I love using this app/website, it has made learning fun. The pictures are great and stick in my mind. I would easily recommend this to anyone interested in learning a new language. It is great alongside an existing course as it secures vocabulary firmly in your mind and allows you to review easily, locking learning into your long term memory. A lot of hard work has been put into making this, and it's worth every penny.

Macht Spaß

Ich bin mit Babbel.com sehr zufrieden. Ich habe es bisher nicht bereut, mich dort angemeldet zu haben. Man kann die Sprache, in meinem Fall Englisch, nochmal von Beginn an aufarbeiten und vertiefen.
Das Einzige, was mich etwas nervt, ist, daß man gleich einen Fehler angestrichen bekommt, wenn man sich mal auf der Tastatur vertippt. Aber ansonsten kann ich jedem nur empfehlen, wer Lust hat, nochmal Sprachen zu lernen, sich bei Babbel.com anzumelden. Es macht einfach nur Spaß und geht unheimlich leicht von der Hand.

De los cursos de idiomas que he hecho interactivos ésta aplicación es la que más me gusta. Puedes escuchar, hablar, escribir, revisar periódicamente lo que has aprendido y además te pone en contacto con otros usuarios que pueden ayudarte y a los que tú puedes ayudar. El precio es razonable.

Mit viel Spaß auch weniger gängige Sprachkenntnisse aufbauen

Ich habe mir ein Abo gegönnt und finde es toll, einige Sprachen wieder aufzufrischen bzw. mein Englisch zu vertiefen. Babbel ist einfach zu bedienen und durch die Mikrofonunterstützung lässt sich die Aussprache ganz gut üben.
Prima finde ich, dass immer mehr Sprachen abseits des Mainstreams angeboten werden. Das gibt zumindest ein erstes Gefühl dafür.

Mit Babbel kann man Fremdsprachen neu lernen, auffrischen und vertiefen. Lernzeit, Übungsdauer und Wiederholungen sind individuell machbar. Die Übungsformen sind abwechslungsreich und durch Bilder anschaulich gestaltet. Besser kann man sich Sprachen lernen im Internet nicht wünschen!

Dodgy billing practice, German arrogance.

There was no email or any notice reminding customers that the account is about to be auto renewed. Babbel expects its customers to remember to cancel the account six months after they first paid. There is no option to not auto renew. So six months later, I am no longer using Babbel but found a surprised charge on my credit card. Immediately I contacted Babbel to cancel my membership and to request a partial refund. I am reasonable. I didn't remember, six months later, that my Babbel account would be auto renewed. I will pay for the 20 days that I forgot. But I am not using this service anymore. I don't want to pay for another six months. No. Babbel simply refuse. "Oh you were told, six months ago, in one tiny line, that your account would be auto renewed". "Oh, it is stated in the FAQ if you bothered to go looking for it". Let's summarize: 1) expecting its customers to remember to cancel every six months; 2) not providing so much as an email reminding that auto renew is about to occur; 3) refusing to partially refund for the auto renewed amount. All points to an unethical business that its only way to retain customers is by tricking them. Had Babbel partially refunded my auto-renewed subscription fee, I would consider using Babbel again in the future when I actually have time to use its service again. I am on auto renew with many online services, but none of them is this desperate for $40 that they are willing to make a customer a lifetime enemy.

Pegadizo, fácil, repetitivo, imaginativo.

Me gusta mucho la forma de estudio, pues va todo relacionado, fotos, audio, escritura.. Lo que me resulta un poco dificil es la gramática. Pero con paciencia, espero terminar aprendiendo a defenderme en el idioma.

Sehr gut zum ergänzenden lernen, je nach Sprache

Ich habe in der Volkshochschule Spanisch angefangen aber war nicht so sehr damit zufrieden. Da ich jetzt längere Zeit nicht mehr in die Kurse gehen kann habe ich mich bei Babbel angemeldet.
Ich verstehe jetzt viel mehr von dem was ich in der Schule beigebracht bekommen habe. Für Spanisch finde ich es sehr gut. Habe aber schon von anderen gehört das andere Sprachen wie z.B. Polnisch nicht so sehr ausgebaut sind wie Spanisch. Kommt also wohl auf die Sprache an. Was es noch zu wissen gibt das man wenn man ein Paket bucht es nur für eine Sprache giltet. Will man eine weitere Sprache lernen muss man 2 Pakete buchen.
Ansonsten kann ich es empfehlen bin sehr zufrieden.

The best and most fun method I've come upon to teach my young students German

Say, I discovered "Babbel" the other day when I had practically exhausted my supply of teaching material. In desperation I went to the Internet and googled methods to teach children and keep their attention for an hour. I happened upon Babbel and heaved a sigh of relieve.
I uploaded Babbel on my IPad and my young students love it; I think they've picked up more German in three months with Babbel than in the previous nine months in the conventional way. And what a time saver it is for me when preparing my lessons.
Babbel is "IT"!!

Great Language Learning

I first downloaded it on my iPhone and went through a lesson on greetings. I was instantly loving it. The trick with learning Arabic is I had to make sure everything was/is in the dialect I was learning — in my case Egyptian. With German I’ve a lot more freedom to look for, find, and use many more products and, even though I’ve barely started in with it, Babbel is quickly hitting the top of my list of awesome language learning tools!

There are a few things I like about Babbel right off the bat.

First of all its interface, both online and on the iPhone, is very clean and user friendly. It uses the same sort of approach (not exactly the same) as Rosetta Stone where you hear the words and associate them with pictures. This is also good because you actually learn to read and “write” (i.e. type) the language at the same time.

Secondly the things Babbel is teaching me are — right out of the gate — more useful than Pimsleur or Rosetta Stone. They skip the entire “do you speak English?” phrases of Pimsleur’s first lessons — because if they do you don’t need to know how to ask it in their language — and also move well past the “horse,” “boy,” “two boys” baby-style vocabulary of Rosetta Stone putting you right into the real, usable conversational German of greetings and meetings.

Third, Babbel is right up front with what is formal and informal. Within the first lesson you’re learning the “colloquial” ways to say “hello” as well as the “proper” ways. Both Pimsleur and Rosetta Stone start with formal and move you to informal over time. Learning it up front seems so much nicer to me.

Finally, what I learned with Babbel thus far — and as I’m writing this “review” I’m talking about having used it for less than two hours total — has stuck with me to a degree that I’m sort of shocked about. Pimsleur is great at long term memory too but it does take a few days of listening to the courses before you get in a “groove” and if you miss many days in a row I tend to forget.

Tolle Möglichkeit zum Lernen im eigenen Tempo und mit Spaß dabei!

Ich war der Meinung, dass mir ein Lernprogramm online nie Spaß machen würde und nichts für mich sei. Babbel hat mich eines Besseren belehrt!

Es bietet mir gut und klar struktuiert die Möglichkeit zwischendurch mein Sprachkenntnisse zu erweitern und zu verbessern. Durch angebotenen Wiederholungsmöglichkeiten kann ich das Lerntempo gut selbst steuern und fühle mich nie überfordert. Dadurch bleibt auch die Lust am Lernen!

Klingt wie ein Werbetext - ist es aber nicht. Das ist meine ehrliche Meinung zu Babbel. Ich bin begeistert und empfehle es jedem weiter, der Sprachen lernen will.

Viele Personen scheitern daran, dass sie mit dem Lernen einer Sprache beginnen und dies aber nicht bis zum Ende durchziehen können. Sei es aus zeitlichen Gründen oder aufgrund von Bequemlichkeit.

Bei Babbel ist das ganz anders! Das Lernprogramm selbst ist so bequem und einfach, dass man schon nach den ersten Lerneinheiten Erfolge verspürt. Das motiviert sehr zum weiterlernen. :)

Mein tägliches Gehirntraining

In Babbel habe ich ein Forum gefunden, in dem ich meine Merkfähigkeit trainieren kann.
Außerdem kann ich mir für kleines Geld wenigstens die Grundzüge einer Sprache zu eigen machen.
Durch ständige Wiederholungen wird das Gelernte vertieft.
Ich finde das Forum gut.

I really enjoy the time I spend using Babbel and eventually some of it sinks in. Having to spell words helps with the mechanics of the language.

Super Programm für gängige Sprachen

Babbel ist super!
Logisch und sinnvoll aufgebaute Lektionen. Wiederholmanager erinnert automatisch an Schwachpunkte...einfach toll.
Kritik: Wenn man nicht die gängigen Sprachen (englisch, spanisch, französisch etc.) lernt, sondern vielleicht türkisch oder andere etwas speziellere Sprachen, stehen für gleiches Geld weniger Lerninhalte zur verfügung, das ist sehr schade.
Hier müssten die Kurse dringend überarbeitet werden.
Oder allgemein eine Lösung für alle gefunden werden. Beispielsweise man kann als abbo-inhaber immer auch auf englisch zugreifen und gleichzeitig auch auf eine zweite, noch nicht so ausgereifte Sprache. Ansonsten erhalte ich im Vergleich bei englisch wesentlich detailiertere Sprachkenntnisse als vergleichsweise bei türkisch. Das ist schade.

É il miglior metodo per imparare una lingua. Si impara divertendosi, gli esercizi e gli esempi proposti sono diversificati e molto mirati. Trovo utile, ai fini mnemonici, l'utilizzo di immagini e il trainer di ripasso. Vorrei solo chiedere due piccole correzioni: la possibilitá di riascoltare le frasi negli esercizi e poter frenare in qualche modo l'aumento esponenziale dei termini da ripassare giornalmente, infatti se ci si interrompe per qualche tempo, poi ci si ritrova a dover ripassare migliaia di termini e non si riesce piú a rimettersi in pari! Si puó fare qualcosa in questo senso? Se sí, daró 5 stelle e un meritato ECCELLENTE

Mit BABBEL stehen Dir viele Möglichkeiten offen mehrere Sprachen gleichzeitig zu lernen.

Mir gefällt die Art und Weise des Sprachenlernens bei Babbel, da Du nicht an eine festgesetzte Zeit, noch an einen Ort gebunden bist. Dein Tempo kannst Du selbst bestimmen.
Was man noch nach meiner Ansicht verbessern könnte, wäre, bei Zwiegesprächen in der gewählten Sprache könnten die Antworten zum Schluss etwas länger sichtbar sein, da man oft für den den letzten Satz z.B. nicht Zeit genug hat die Übersetzung ganz zu lesen und schon ist sie verschwunden.

Sprachen lernen

Der Lerninhalt ist gut!, doch leider ist die Audiofunktion ungenau.
Das lernen macht trotz des kleine Fehlers merklich Spaß.
Doch betrüblich ist nur noch eines zu Bemerken, einige Audioinhalte lassen sich nur wiederholen wenn man die ganze LEXION wieder von vorne Startet. Hier könnte man doch noch etwas nach bessern.
Aber alles in allem ist es doch ein sehr gutes lernen mit Babbel.

spielerisch Sprachen lernen

Mit Babbel lernen macht einfach Spass. Ich kann in genau meinem Tempo vorgehen, wodurch es weder langweilig noch zu schwierig wird.
Ich selbst würde mich als sprachunbegabt bezeichnen - und mit Babbel fällt selbst mir das Lernen leicht.

Macht Spass und mit dem ipad kann man überall bequem für ein paar Minuten am Tag sein Englisch aufbessern.

Rundum zufrieden, sehr übersichtlich gestaltet, nach 3 Wochen Anwendung gibt es bis auf Kleinigkeiten nichts zu kritisieren. Erfahrungen im Chat mit anderen Fremdsprachlern konnte ich noch nicht sammeln.
