Excellent way to see dubai if on a tight schedule & very convenient for the shopping mall stops. Unlike other places big bus goes everywhere from highway however don't let this put you off because it takes you to several places you might not have thought of going.
Nice way to visit all the highlights of Dubai. Stops at all interesting places and with a good time schedule. The night tour is also very nice and shows Dubai by night, with all te lights of the buildings.
This hop-on hop-off bus tour is a good way to see Dubai and get your bearings in a short time, but it is not cheap. The commentary is pre-recorded and gives you lots of information on Dubai. We booked a 2 day ticket but were informed on the first day that the buses would not be running on the second day due to a road cycle race. This was disappointing and meant that we had to pack all our sight-seeing into one day! The cruise on Dubai Creek was interesting but there was no commentary. To get the most out of your day ticket you need to be on the first bus of the day and limit the number times that you get off.
Our first trip to the Middle East. How were we to see everything, to know about everything ? Of course we started with researching on the internet and found Big Bus Tours. We didn't want to be tied to a strict schedule so the hop on hop off flexibility was exactly what we needed! We took the tour, learned a lot and picked out where we wanted to return. Reasonable prices, loved being outside on the top deck, great for photos. The one drawback was timing. The site advertises as a 24 hour rate. To us, that meant if you start at 2 pm on Monday, your ticket should be good until 2 pm on Tuesday . Not so. The ticket is good for a day, so if you start at 2 pm on Monday, your ticket ends with the last bus on Monday . Truly disappointing. 24 hours should mean ANY 24 hour span.
In fairness, it wasnt my day. If it was going to go wrong, it did that day. To save time I bought a ticket online, during my trip. Do not do this unless you have access to your printer at home. What a mess trying to get it printed from the big bus link. Then, it didnt give me any info on where to go catch a bus. 2:00 in the afternoon I am finally at my closest stop. Worker at the stand there was very understanding, except asking me why I didnt save time and buy the ticket at the stand. Aargh. He explained how to best use the last three hours of day 1 and then hit it hard on day 2. I missed something, because near the end of the day i got on at stop 11, the last stop on the red route, and needed to go around to #2. At stop #1 the driver shut the bus off and kicked everyone off. There were 5 people who needed to go further, he was done. Went to the sales kiosk, where she informed us it was our fault, :you should have read the timetable. Get a taxi. FYI: to far to walk from #1 to #2, and I am a walker. Worst part was her attitude towards us, like:this happens to these stupid tourists all the time...Suggestion big bus: if it happens all the time maybe you need to work on communication to the stupid tourist Another note: the stops are very poorly marked. At a couple of the closer together stops, I decided to do some walking. Walked from #9 to #11. Never did see a sign for #10. Got to the area of #11 had to ask locals where it stops. Stood waiting, then watched big bus go right by. Ran my a** off to catch it. It made a stop and go before I could get to it. When I did get to the spot, not one single sign mentioned :big bus. This will not matter to most, as you will get on where it dropped you off. PAY ATTENTION Last note: I am not new to the hop on hop off busses, use them every time I tour a big city that has one. On this 10 country trip I already did tours in Malaga and Barcelona, Spain, and Budapest. Got along well. It is the customer service at big bus Dubai that is lacking. They got your money, after that they do not care.
I'm sure the buses are fantastic and the tour would be great if I had been able to use them on the only day I had in Dubai. They cancelled the day's bus routes due to a bike race, however, there was no notice of that. I paid for a taxi to take me to a pick up place and then learned they were not running and no refund offered since I had booked online inadvance. I was out the $54.00 for the tour, taxi ride to pick up place, and then had to pay another taxi to take me to sites I wanted to see. It was amazing that the taxi had no problem to take me to the Palm Islands, Atlantis, and other sites on the original tour route. I had planned to use Big Bus in Hong Kong in April but will find some other more dependable and fair tour company.
Was a great tour but not enough time to do it all in 1 day if you wanted to do all the attractions without rushing. It would be nice if they told me that it would be better to do a 48hr tour instead of the 24hr tour (which is only a 7hr tour because the 1st bus is around 10am and last bus around 5pm).
Personally, i find big bus tour nothing that fantastic..it's quite expensive. What makes it more worth is the walking tour where we were being introduce on the old souk, gold souk & spice souk. That itself makes the whole big bus tour really worth. So it will really be good if there's more time slots & more tours where we could join within a day.
The bus seems so full everytime that I only get to sit on the top level once throughout my whole journey. The commentary was good though.
Bought the 48hrs pass day tour for myself and husband. But we realized that the first bus rides basically started at 9am and last bus ended beginning at 5pm. Bought the tickets since the routes take us to all the landmarks and we found out the time were so limited for us to stay on a location for more than an hour because we always want to catch the bus's schedule or you will ended up missing the bus. It's only good for sigh seeing without stopping but i don't think is suitable for hop on hop off for our own leisure for some might say. Averagely, you can only visit 2-3 landmarks if you wish to hop off from the bus and have very limited time to really enjoy the landmarks. From our experience, on 2nd day of the pass, the time really wasted when the bus didn't come on time and the guide simply told us it was late due to the traffic jam. We went back to the gold souk on second day simply need to get some souvenirs and we planned to go to Jumeirah open beach after that. But the bus came late and we were unable to go to Jumeirah open beach since we need to transfer from Red Line to Blue Line at the Wafi. TIme was really, really wasted here and we got really frustrated for not being able to hop off at the Jumeirah open beach. To us, it's not really 100% worth to try. Unless you don't mind spending the time sitting on the bus for hours. Time is so limited for hop off purposes and ticket is a bit pricey. If i were to go back to Dubai, definitely will use taxi instead of hop on hop off if you really wish to spend a good amount of time on certain landmarks.
A group of five took Big Bus in Dubai earlier this month. A friend and myself bought the 48 hour ticket and the others joined us on the second day. We all enjoyed the tour which took us to the major tourist attractions. The buses were on a frequent schedule so we didn't have to wait long to hop on the bus for the next spot. One thing need to keep in mind is that the buses stop service at around 6pm, so we picked a stop close to the Metro as our last stop, had dinner there, then take Metro back to the hotel. Overall we are satisfied with the service. We originally planned to rent a car. Big Bus is really a better choice if you just want to visit the popular attractions.
First of all we thought this would be good value as the mosque is a long way out. We got off at the Corniche and walked to the Soukh. Neither the map/guide nor the app show where the bus stops and there is no sign for them except at Marina Mall and Sheikh Zayed Mosque , so we just couldn't find it until we saw it go past on the other side of the road indicated on the map, so we had to get a cab. At that point we discovered that cabs are very cheap and would have been a much cheaper way to get round the city. We missed the bus at heritage Village and assumed half an hour later, we were wrong and missed it so we had to get another cab to Marina Mall. We only managed to get 3 stops in total due to poor information provided. Not good value and I would suggest more information provided on the literature re timings and stops
Went on the Dubai Panoramic night tour with my daughter. It was very windy when the bus was moving and my daughter and I could not hear all the information through the speaker. It would have been much better to have the earphones in, however they were not given out. Dubai is a great spectacle at night, but I was unable to capture any good photographs as the bus was far too shaky, so I gave up trying. I might do the day tour in the future, however I won't go back on the night tour as I feel it wasn't value for money.
