Important news for people leaving BT.

Basically, if you ask for a MAC code, they will insist you wait 7 days, due to their company policy. Nobody can provide the policy, however, so it seems it does not exist. The real reason, in my opinion (important to be PC!) is that most people try to change provider before they get billed another month and its a nice way of BT getting an extra month out of you. The MAC key is generated instantly and to keep it held back for 7 days is poor. It's also important to know that if you call to cancel or sign up to BT, you will speak to someone in an english call centre. Once signed up, however, its India I'm afraid. I'd also recommend a good read of their terms and conditions. They charge £2 a month if you don't make a minimum of 2 calls a month but this is not part of the terms and conditions. I've just called and had my fines refunded (but only the last 6 months as its impossible for them to see further back than that). I'd recommend plusnet - their call centre is in Sheffield and they provide statistics as to how busy they are before they call. Enjoy (and get ready for a long wait for your MAC keys!!)
