I have had major problems with another broadband provider and switched to BT who delivered everything they promised. They were efficient and quick. They informed me every step of the way what was going on and were fantastic. I would recommend BT without hesitation. Thank you BT
Having recently switched from Plusnet to BT,for the sole purpose of getting BT Sport free in order to watch MOTO GP this year, I can't help but feel completed conned. Having telephoned to activate BT Sport,I am told by an agent that I am unable to watch this channel due to the apparently antiquated copper wiring in my area! "You might be able to watch it on the "App" on your PC" I'm being told. "Hang on a minute! It's plastered all over the ads that you get BT Sport free with broadband but there's no mention of this availability issue. This is not what I signed up for" I reply."I want to cancel. The line has only been in for a week" "That's not possible sir. We'll charge you for the remaining 18 months of your contract if you wish to cancel" I slam the phone down!! In my opinion,BT are mis-selling this product (others agree as you will find all over the net). On top of this,my internet speed is the slowest I have ever known so I can't even watch the channel online! I intend to contact Oftel regarding this and urge anyone else who has been conned by BT over this to do the same. I am absolutely disgusted with this company and if you happen to cancel your direct debit with them and opt to pay by another method, expect a barrage of phone calls ! They also sell your number so you can also expect a barrage of txts and calls from PPI companies etc. Definitely DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM.GUARANTEE YOU'LL REGRET IT!
A few years ago a neighbour added a new phone line for a dedicated fax machine and OPEN REACH disconnected on a FRIDAY afternoon all near by BT lines while installing the product ours included.
We explained I was disabled with epilepsy and needed a phone line and were told in no uncertain terms we were NOT a priority....tough...we do not do weekend call outs and we waited till the following Wednesday to have the BT line restored....enough said!
We thought today some 5 years after to see if BT's arrogance had changed!
Alas not...beware of the BT SPORT scam.....
We are full subscriber's to SKY including SPORTS and HD...
We thought to add BT SPORTS for the so called £12 would be expensive but to give it a go....alas not as straight forward.....£15 charged for someone to put the switch on for you and no doubt line Sky with a few quid....and £3 per month extra for the HD option...so the arrogant BT thrives.....
In addition BT promised BROADBAND improvements in our village for 2013!
Surprise surprise 2014 and still no improvements....this is one monopoly that needs destroyed for ever......
Today i was having a new phone line installed.......the engineer turned up at 2.15 and left at 3.50, saying that the phone line was now installed and fully functioning.
I then go to use the phone, and the line is dead!
I then spend the best part of an hour being passed around various (overseas?) call centres as no-one wants to take responsibility for fixing the problem........then to cap it all I am then told that the call centre computer system now isn't working and they will need to ring me back.....on my mobile phone!
Obviously NASA can communicate with a space probe at the edge of our universe, but BT are finding Chester a step too far!!!
Do not use BT unless you absolutely have no alternatives.
In a world where Broadband and telephones are just about essential BT cannot allocate an engineer to fix a fault IN THEIR TELEPHONE EXCHANGE in less than a week. We have no useable telephone and no broadband and the earliest they can fix it is January 28th. Perhaps if they took customer service seriously they'd reflect on this employ more engineers and maybe reduce the pay of executives by a small proportion to fund this - the outgoing chief, Ian Livingston, was paid £18.5 million (yes million) last year. An extra engineer or several on £30K or so would hardly dent his pay.
Please don't go near BT. Have been with them 8 years with my contract due to end May 14. Can not come quick enough. I have been told nothing but lies each time I ring up to complain. I can write a book about my dealings with BT never mind a review. Never have I come across staff who have been rude, poorly trained, unhelpful, liars and patronising. The worst customers service I have ever encountered. Have been messed around with payments being taken from my account to being lied to about my contract. Currently going through complaints procedure with them but it will be a relief to have finally left these pricks. Everyone has an opinion and read reviews on various products but if you want to avoid stress and annoyance you will do well to avoid BT..
Been a loyal BT customer for 24 years, loyalty speaks for nothing, poor customer service, false promises, impossible to speak to a real person, when you do get through wrong it's department. DO NOT USE BT YOUR LIVE WILL BE HELL
BT want more money and to make it as easy as possible for all you BT customers you need not do anything - brilliant!!
From the 4th January 2014 they will automatically add £1.75 a month for the previously free 1571 service, increase your line rental up to £15.99 a month and even charge you more for actually dialling a number, fantastic or what!!
They look forward to increasing your bills again in the future. Thanks for being such loyal BT customers.
I hadn't received my quarterly paperwork to discover for a line rental and weekend call only package I was being charge £27 per month. This I feel is excessive considering I don't use the phone. Spoke to a sales person who only wanted to sell me products rather than listen to what I wanted. Whilst discussing the increase I was informed this was my own problem and no I couldn't get a rebate, even though not receiving my bill. Then discussed with a line manger, if this is how a manger treats a customer then I'm surprised they still have any customers. I was advised again this was my problem that I hadn't received the bill not theirs. I would receive a call back within five days, which I'm still waiting for. Final point I have had on my phone bill for six year the 1571 service, again never used and unaware you are charged for this service. I have never used this service and feel this product had been mis sold, again that's my own problem a corroding to the team manager. Do not expect to get any issues resolved by this phone service.
BT just charged me over £60 in line rental for a property I vacated over 3 months ago. I was suffering from severe depression at the time, necessitating a move to another address. As a result, I simply forgot to cancel the account. Silly me.
In short, they are merely a bunch of grasping thieves and incompetents masquerading as a telecommunications company. That's all, bye.
Avoid BT like the plague!! I was paying monthly and rang up and said I wanted to go on quarterly bills thinking the quarterly bills would be in arrears. I paid my Dec monthly bill and was told my next bill would be in March. What she neglected to tell me was that I would get one in January for 3 months in advance!!! I have been in hospital so I did not contact them till yesterday the 14th. I explained that I was on a budget and could not afford to pay 3 months in advance. She then said she would put me back on the monthly and said I could just pay a month in January and the next payment in Feb. I agreed and told her I would pay the Jan payment today. I got up this morning and found my services disconnected. I rang up again and was told I had to pay the 3 months in advance if I want my services back on. So I had to pay the 3 months even though I could not afford it. I asked if the March bill would be monthly and was told "Yes" I wasn't happy as they have continued to lie so I contacted them again and told them I would be reporting them to the Ombudsman(which will cost BT money) and they just did not care. I was then told that I was still on quarterly bills and would only be allowed to go on monthly if I signed up for DD or I would stay on quarterly. I told told them I had not been told that and that I had been on monthly before and not on DD but they said that I had to go on DD if I wanted to go on monthly. The ended the live chat with "Have a nice day" : ). They are just plain nasty!!! They want your money BEFORE you have had the services and customer services agents are trained to constantly lie to you. DO NOT GO WITH THIS CORRUPT COMPANY.
I buy a PC case from BT Shop because the clients like it, and it sells well when gaming components are used. End of good news.
The items regularly arrive damaged/ parts missing/ parts added/ used even.
Extra bits jammed in the gearing, scratches/ dents all over, lubricant (used in the bay door) smeared all over the unit, the screws/ fixing bag is often missing, decals/ detailing missing (or fallen off in the box), parts not screwed in, areas not milled out (a panel where a square hole should be) blatant damage ignored, obvious faults just let through etc etc
Customer service can't make up their minds who they are (calling themselves BT/ Shop.BT / BT.Shop/ Dabs.com etc - the poor spam filter on my email has a hard time telling me who is who.
They have so many different policies that even they don't follow: I was told to 'throw awy' a damaged one once and a replacement arrived the next day. Then I was told this actually NEVER happens and was almost charged for destroying the next one that arrived damaged (following a replacement arriving-and taking a week to follow up the RTB)
The staff said "why do [you] buy them then?" as a defense for continuing damage.
One staff member actually said "what do [I] expect?" (for this price)
I now have to buy 2 when I need 1, four when I need 2 etc. to make sure I have at least the number I need.
The staff are rude, unhelpful, argumentative one minute, and go over and above the next the manager sent me a replacement And a refund AND called to apologise personally once, when the month before had said the "what do [I] expect?" (for this price) comment above and hung up on me when I went (excusably) orbital.
They don't know who they are or what they want half the time.
Installed, worked for ten minutes, albeit at a much slower speed than my previous service, then stopped and has not worked since. Continual excuses and empty promises. Numerous calls to BT, over five hours on the phone to them and achieved absolutely nothing whatsoever. Problem at the exchange, six promises of when it will be fixed but nothing yet. Why is it so difficult, time consuming and frustrating dealing with this company! BT have by quite some margin the worst customer service i have ever experienced.
First off, let me just ask why the hell there is a limit on home wifi? How is it not unlimited? Second, it's absolute rubbish. Since I'm only here for 6 months I haven't signed on for there contracts and instead I'm paying outrageous money for crap service. Even when I use my roommates contract wifi it cuts out every 5 seconds to 5 minutes. If I'm on the open wifi that I pay £39 for 30 days unlimited wifi (outrageous) it's even worse. When it cuts out I have to log in to my account again to get the wifi and it always says I'm already logged on the maximum allowed devices, which rubbish since it just logged me out. I'm just disappointed I wasted £39 that just annoyed me beyond belief. Crap broadband.
I rang to ask why I was unable to get any Internet coverage in my kitchen or in my bedroom (I live in a 3bed house so not massive) The. Operative I spoke to (in India) was next to useless and couldn't say why my signal was poor in certain areas of the house as his computer was saying I had an excellent signal. I pointed out that with my previous service provider Orange, we had no problems with coverage. I explained I wasn't happy and he then had me unplugging, rebooting etc etc he also bamboozled me with tech talk which as an average Internet user I had no idea what he was talking about at times, he got exasperated when I kept asking to explain in lay mans terms.... I asked for a new router which he refused to send again saying that my signal was excellent. I was so fed up with his attitude especially as he had to keep going and speaking to his superviser, that I put the phone down, he then rang me back and said he would run another test but couldn't do it at that moment as his system was down.......no improvement with our service since the call..
Wish I had never changed and we are now locked into an 18month contract, we are counting the days.
As an aside I feel conned by the bt sport advert which implies that the channel is easily available. We thought you could get it through your tv but you need extra kit.
having a chat about my problem with a BT chat agent was with one of the most ignorant people imaginable, couldn't care less asked to be transfered to another agent he then ignored me completely so I closed the chat and went back on and got another waste of space I asked for a supervisor and was told he would give me a call within 2 hours , 5 hours later called Bt and complained so I received a call from Bt who was speaking Indian , I said excuse me and he hung up, He called again and said that there was a line problem ( but they tell me there is no line problem) he called just as I sat down to tea so I asked him to call back again to go through resetting my channel, 24 hours later no call , despicable service
BT are the only company I have found to provide a decent reliable broadband service. They were my first Broadband provider and I have since been with O2, Sky and Orange to try and save a few pounds but the savings never justified the poor service I received. Glad to be back on BT.
