Dear Mehmey
We apologize for the delay in processing your booking. The status of your reservation turned to pending after your booking was initially confirmed by the airline. Given that you made your booking after office hours our support team wasn’t able to assist you until this morning. We are sorry for the stress and inconvenience the long wait has caused you. Our agents were able to rebook you for the same fare and you should receive your e-ticket shortly.
Kind regards

Brilliant travel agent

I did a stupid thing last midnight that when I was booking the ticket for my parents to visit me, I put my first name instead of my dad's and I put my mom's name in the reverse order.

I had a panic because the two tickets costed me 1,362 pounds.

I called the customer service right in the morning hoping they could change the name for me otherwise no one can travel, and they did save my day.

Customer Service Representative Hannah E. answered my call with great patience. She helped me negotiated with the airline first to see if they can change the passengers' names for me, the airline rejected the request. Hannah then helped me to bring this to her team and they have decided to waive my penalty fee of cancelling the tickets and helped me to re-book the two tickets with no additional cost. I am very grateful for Hannah's great customer service that she has gone the extra mile to help me solving my issue although the airline rejected my request at first. I've learnt from this experience that Budget Air is a very trust-worthy travel agent and they have just turned me into their loyal customer.

Thank you very much Budget Air.

The best customer service agent you can find

I would like to thank Archie Ford for giving me not the most admirable customer service , but also a chance to feel that I can talk to someone who is flexible, understanding and truly cares for people who use the services of budgetair.uk. I made a mistake in booking by being inattentive and although many airlines would say no to amending it on the spot without being charged, Mr Ford has been understanding and has done everything and anything to help me out .If you ever find yourself taking to the guy, you know you are in good hands. I am incredibly impressed and astonished by the services that I have received and the kindness they have been delivered with. Going an extra mile for the customer - thanks a lot , Archie.

What do you do in the office all day?!

At this rate, someone would have to pay me to use these guys again! Why on earth does it take 7 days or more (STILL WAITING) for them to even begin the process of debiting my card?! As a customer using a booking agent, my number one concern is that I have a cheap deal and peace of mind. I understand that some companies submit a dollar or something to test the account but then promptly submit the full amount to your bank for processing. That way, if there are any issues, I find out about them quickly and have time to either find an alternative method of payment or, if absolutely necessary, an alternative flight. 7 days down the line, booking an alternative flight will lose me a lot of money!

The most bizarre thing is that they submitted the full amount to my bank account but then withdrew the payment such that it disappeared from my pending transactions and hasn't reappeared since! I've called their call centre in India (several times now) where I've been told everything's fine and not to worry but given absolutely no answer as to when they'll finally get around to debiting my card. What on earth are you doing over there?!! Yesterday I was told there would be an update within 24 hours. It's been over 24 hours. Nothing's happened.

Every other booking agent I've ever used (and I fly on average about 10 times a year) has the full amount pending with your bank within a day. It's usually left the account within two. It's a bloody good model and Budgetair would do well to consider it!

Terrible service and pricing error

I went onto SkyScanner and chose a Silk Air flight because it's a good airline and competitively priced. I even compared with SilkAir direct. $200-300 cheaper. Good.
Then get directed to the BudgetAir website to fill in details. When I have filled in the details, I get the booking confirmation and an invoice. I was charged the Singapore Dollar amount in British Pounds. Essentially doubling the cost of the flights.
I emailed. Nothing.
I went on Facebook. Nothing.
Still waiting. This is shocking service.

Dear Mr. Corden

You made a booking on our UK website which is why you were invoiced accordingly in British Pounds; all fare quotes on our UK website are quoted in British Pounds. Our terms and conditions state that it is the responsibility of the customer to check all documents upon receipt and to contact us immediately in case of a problem. Furthermore, contrary to your statement we did respond to your email. At this point we cannot cancel your transaction and we maintain that the charge to your card was correct in terms of the amount and currency.

Can't deliver but took payment

I booked a flight London - Frankfurt with British Airways on budgetair.co.uk. Unfortunately, right after I confirmed my payment details, budgetair displayed a message letting me know that although they took payment, the flight was not available any longer. To sort this out (i.e. rebooking or refund), budgetair asks to call a premium phone no., which unfortunately is only available during the day (I made the booking in the evening). So now I have no flight booking _and_ no money _and_ nothing I can do about it until the next day. Dear budgetair.co.uk, please refund me my money immediately.

Dear Malte
As one of our agents pointed out to you on the phone, your booking initially failed due to the way you spelled your surname. The flights you were trying to book were on hold for the price you selected. Now that we have verified your surname your reservation is being processed and your e-tickets will be forwarded to you shortly. We appreciate your assistance in helping us resolve the problem.

Ridiculous Administration Fees

Booked my flights Antalya > Istanbul > Amman. My travel plans changed but having chosen a flexible fare, I new I could get at least a partial refund. The airline penalty for cancelling the flight was £42 (I would have given a 5* review even if that fee was in place), but I was then charged a £55 admin fee by Budget Air. That £55 fee cannot be avoided - I was told I could not cancel directly with the airline. I found the £55 fee particularly irritating. 3* off for that.
budgetair.co.uk

Reply from budgetair.co.uk

Dear Online Shopper
Our terms and conditions state that we assess a fee of GBP 55 for changing or cancelling flights. The fares we offer on our website are considerably cheaper then those offer directly by the airline. This is because their profit margins and overheads are much higher. In order for us to maintain our customer service we charge an administrative fee for cancellations, just like the airline. The majority of our customers are happy with paying less for their ticket and understand that we need to cover our administrative expenses by means of a service fee. If this poses a problem we suggest you sideline online travel agencies in the future and book directly with the airline.

Ridiculous.

I've just tried to book a flight from Don Mueang Thailand to Phnom Penh Cambodia, just under 4 months in advance, and in the 2 minutes it took to fill in my details apparently

'in the time between processing payment and confirming the order, the product in the shopping cart was unfortunately no longer available'

but BudgetAir have

'received [my] payment, but have not been able to complete [my] booking'

I am utterly confused as to how this has happened, I have tried to book the flight 4 months in advance. So to organise my flight I have to ring the company on a high rate call and given no option to email?

Disappointed.

Dear Mr. Ashcroft
We apologize for the mishap with your booking. Air Asia has just undergone a major software update which is affecting bookings that weren’t made directly with the airline. We are in the midst of sorting the problem with their reservation system and suggest you try booking directly with Air Asia. Your payment has been refunded to your credit card. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you will be able to find a suitable alternative.

no problems at all.

I thought I ought to add my postive experience to this site, in order to give others confidence. When I booked the ticket I half expected trouble as so many people on here seem to have experienced. I crossed my fingers, used my credit card and went for it anyway, knowing that the credit card company would help if it all fell apart.

My flight was a return ticket with KLM from Bristol - Amsterdam - Panama City. Using budget air was significantly cheaper than any other website, including going to KLM direct.

There's not much else I can say really - booked a cheap ticket, got on plane, enjoyed holiday, got plane home. Everything was fine!

I have just attempted to book a flight with you from Phuket to Ho Chi Minh on the 02/07/2014. I was told that in the time from selecting the flight to confirming payment the product was no longer available. Luckily for me however, you have still been able to charge me while providing me with nothing. Kindly, you have told be call you at my expense! Just wondering what you are planning to do about this as I have no intention of ringing you to sort this out! Reading reviews of others with the same experience, so hopefully you'll be experts at sorting this out promptly!? Looking forward to your swift reply!

Avoid like a PLAGUE (turned out well, read full story)

I booked ticket from Vilnius, Lithuania to Copenhagen, Denmark, then to London and finally to Raleigh, North Carolina, US.

Vilnius -> Copenhagen -> London -> Raleigh

When I arrived with SAS airlines to Copenhagen I needed to re-claim my baggage and check it in again. When I grabbed the baggage and rushed to check in desk they've told me that I've missed the flight.

At first I thought that's my problem, but when I showed my tickets to information in airport they started to laugh, and I asked what's so funny? They've said "who sold you this ticket? this flight is impossible!"

And they have explained that 1 hour in between flights (SAS and British Airways) was impossible to make, because those two companies are not working together, and I needed to take baggage myself.

So to sum up:

1) I'm stuck now in Denmark
2) My ESTA (Visa to travel to USA) is now worthless as it was tied to flight number and plane
3) My hotel is already booked in USA
4) I've paid money for event tickets in USA

And when I called budgetair.co.uk offices exactly when they've opened up office I've heard "all agents are occupied, please hold the line". And this is for 40 minutes so far.

Not expecting to reach USA, thanks budgetair.co.uk for this!

Avoid this company like PLAGUE!

I will update this thread when I will have more news.

UPDATE: I ended up getting re-booked flight (now at Heathrow London airport) which will be going through Miami to Raleigh. I'm very happy about that, however these things put quite a lot of white hair on your head...

Reply from budgetair.co.uk

Dear Mr. Strimaitis
We are sorry for the problems you encountered on your outbound journey. As the check-in agent in Copenhagen correctly explained, SAS and British Airways are not operating as partners on the flights that you selected. Budgetair.co.uk sells tickets as listed by the airlines on a global reservation system called Amadeus. Any combination of flights offered on this reservation system should be bookable by a travel agent. It turns out that in your case this didn’t hold true. An incidence report was filed with Amadeus to investigate why your booking was cleared for ticketing when in fact the two airlines are not combinable on your itinerary. Budgetair.co.uk had no way of knowing this and didn't learn of the problem until you called us with this information. We apologize for the inconvenience and stress you had to endure and hope you will make it in time for your event.

Smooth & easy booking

I thought I should add my positive experience as there seems to be a long list of negatives and very few people add their positive experience.

After everything I read, I decided to take the plunge anyway. Why? For the same reason I stated on my opening sentence (I also had a look on trustpilot.com regarding budgetair.com and their was A LOT of positive talk on that site).

I just booked a flight from London to Athens. Leaving in less than a week. Within a couple of minutes I received the confirmation email and a few minutes after I received my invoice and e-ticket.

No, I am not affiliated in any way, shape or form to budgetair.co.uk. I am simply a recent customer who had a good experience and have decided to post it.

Easy to compare prices, but more expensive than elsewhere: you could incur extra costs at airport

I booked a flight from Heathrow to Geneva via Swiss airlines with BudgetAir UK for £130 GBP.

When I got to Heathrow, I was told I'd have to pay £60 GBP extra because luggage was not included in the price with the travel agent that I used: Budget Air.

I did not see that baggage would not be included on the BudgetAir site's booking process.

There was also no option on the BudgetAir site to select baggage -- adding to the confusion, since Swiss is a conventional airline that usually includes baggage, unlike budget airlines easyJet or Ryanair, so it was very surprising.

I've checked the small print on the BudgetAir terms and conditions and they say they're not responsible for any extra costs their customers incur. Yet they do not display this when you're booking.

This was a misleading experience on my first booking with BudgetAir.co.uk, so I'd recommend you book directly on the airline's site that you're travelling with.

Update: As you can see from the BugetAir response below, you're not getting decent customer service from them anyway, so just go straight for the airline. There won't be any surprises and you'll see the actual, final price, and what is included.

Hi [Name],
Thank you for your review. Often times intercontinental flights, even with larger airlines, will not include hold luggage. While this information is available on our website, we understand that it was, perhaps, not made apparent enough. Your luggage allowance is also printed on your ticket so that you are able to view and review this information for your convenience. We apologize that your first experience using our site was less than desireable, but we will look forward to any further assistance or services that we can provide to you in the future.

Bad way to do business

I was booking a one way flight and I received a message that said my payment was taken but that my flight could not be confirmed. So my credit card was charged, but I did not get a ticket. The message requested me to call their customer service. It took me a while to get through, I was on hold for over half an hour until I got cut off costing me quite a lot of money for the long distance call since their office is in Britain and I was in a different country. The day after I reached customer service. I will give them that the customer service was polite and helpful. In the end they canceled my booking and promised to refund the money to my card. Nevertheless, this is an awful way to do business. This company needs to rethink their process.

Rather frustrating experience, but eventually resolved with a very friendly and helpful agent

A month and a half after having booked my flight, I received an email telling me that my itinerary had changed to two days earlier than planned (to a date when I would not even be in the country). I rang the airline and was told that there was in fact a flight on the day I had booked, so I have no idea why I was told that my flight had been moved. Three phone-calls and an email to budgetair later, I finally spoke to a very friendly and helpful agent who put me back on the flight I had originally booked with a big smile and several laughs! I've given 2 stars - an average of the 4-stars I would have given the final agent I dealt with, and the 0 stars I would have given because of having been put through this whole unnecessary process.

Dear Ms Fisher
We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience the schedule change has caused you. Schedule changes are initiated by the airline, in your case Gambia Bird Airlines LTD. Most airlines will insert an alternative flight into the booking when they make a schedule change. In your case this was a flight that departed two days earlier then scheduled. This admittedly didn’t make any sense because there was a flight available on the same day that departed just an hour later. Given the number of schedule changes we handle on a daily basis, we are unable to always verify if the alternative flight offered by the airline is indeed the best possible solution. In your case it clearly wasn’t, and we appreciate that you brought to our attention that there was a later flight that same day. After contacting Gambia Bird Airlines they allowed us to rebook you on your current flight. We realize that schedule changes are a major inconvenience to the traveling public; however, Budgetair is primarily the conveyor of the bad news and needs to consult with the airline in finding a suitable solution. Thanks to your initiative we were able to resolve the matter and we appreciate your patience and assistance throughout the rebooking process.

Excellent Customer Service

I had a problem with updating with my API before my flight to America as I do not think I was sent the details of my email address that I would need to input on the website of the airline I was flying with. I rang up to find out what I could do and received some amazing customer service! The lady I spoke to was very helpful, polite and kind and waited on the end of the line while I faffed around trying to find my laptop cable and then waited for me to input the details she had given me. It was great customer service and I am really grateful! Thank you!

Customer Service at its Best

Booked return flights from Birmingham to Kenya via Brussels recently.
Whole process was very easy to use, received confirmation via email and also a phone call from Budgetair to confirm.
Despite airline cancelling our flight back home to Birmingham and re-scheduling much later the same day. Budgetair kindly contacted the airline at our request and got the flight changed to a much earlier flight to Manchester.
Fantastic customer service and special thanks to Hannah E at Budgetair

Awful company, I can't believe their reply

I recently found out my uncle was molesting a young family member. And he, along with my Aunt looked after my uncle who has a serious heart problem that gets worse every year.

Lately I have been helping my Aunt take care of my uncle (her brother) and I have cut down my work hours to under 10 hours a week because his condition is so bad. I cannot go to Orlando (I have a flight ticket booked for the 18th of July) because that would mean I would have to work a lot more hours in work (which I can't do) to get the money to fund my trip, and more importantly I would have to leave my Aunt who is over 60 years old to mind my ill uncle for 4 weeks by herself.

I help her cook for him, clean, etc so me being gone for 4 weeks isn't going to happen.

Anyway, I decided to message the company in hopes of them having a heart and refunding my ticket (I offered to provide proof of my uncles heart condition and my other uncle going to jail). I understand they don't need too since it's a non-refundable ticket, but I thought this is a reason they could see to be viable.

They could've messaged me with other options to get my money for the ticket back. But instead they pretty much said..

"Your situation isn't a good enough reason and we CANNOT (they can, they just chose not to) refund your ticket. But you can cancel the ticket and we will give you a tax refund for £17.

A £615 ticket, with still 5 months to go before the flight and they offer me £17? HOW DOES THAT HELP? I will NEVER be using this company again for a ticket because their entire staff seems to consist of heartless individuals who reply with nonsense. I'm extremely disappointed and I will be making sure no family member or friend ever purchases another ticket from them. A refund would've allowed me to work less for a longer while to give my uncle the support he needs. And even having the ability to pay £100 or so would've still allowed me to get back a fair amount which is extremely needed for me right now, I can't believe the outcome of this. And even though my entire family is going and it hurts knowing I can't go because my uncles well-being is more important, the fact they are blind to this situation makes it even worse.

And I may aswell add this in. They contacted us a week or so after we purchased the tickets to say "your flight has been rescheduled to a hour later, and we have decided to wait until July to give you the tickets incase it is delayed any further."

It seems to be that they haven't got the tickets (judging from multiple reviews saying the exact same thing). Why sell tickets you do not have?

Dear Mr. Robinson,

Thank you for your review.

As explained in our email conversation, we sympathize with your situation. Unfortunately, as you have said, the ticket you purchased is non refundable. It is important to note, that this is the airlines ticket, and the airlines policy regarding a cancellation. We are still more than happy to issue your partial tax refund, as you are entitled to this refundable amount.

Regarding your schedule change; an airline retains the right to alter their schedule. Additionally, I can assure you that moments after your purchase your tickets were issued.

Again, we express our sympathies for your situation, but we must abide by the airline's rules regarding your ticket.
