I have made a booking yesterday morning and got an automated VERIFICATION email. In the email, it was written that it will take up to 1 business day for a TICKET CONFIRMATION email. It is now near to 2 days and I have yet to get any updates from budgetair. I called twice to budgetair to check on what's holding up the confirmation and I got nothing. Those on the phone kept asking me to wait and could not give a clear justification on what's holding up the process and what's the expected time needed even though I have explained the urgency of me getting the ticket confirmation within these 2 days. I'm neither here nor there, not knowing whether I'll get the ticket in the end.
Booked a flight through this company and have now found that i am unable to get visa for my destination. Called to try and arrange something else only to be told that the airline had applied the condition of not being able to change the booking at all. Called the airline who say they have no restrictions on this booking, and that all restrictions are applied by BudgetAir. Called BudgetAir back and they re-iterated that they have applied no restrictions to the ticket. Now I'm in a circle where no-one is willing to try and help to find a solution. Obviously i should have read the conditions more closely before booking, but I'm also just looking to find a solution to this problem (i.e. another flight from the destination to elsewhere), but that help is certainly not forthcoming from BudgetAir. Futhermore, the fees to canel the flight are priced so that even the taxes can't be claimed back. A company who hides behind excuses and conditions care certainly not a company who are looking to have a satisfied customer (if they had tried to work something out with me then a glowing review may have followed).
I'm sure if you read the conditions closely (and have a degree in legal jargon), and no unforeseen circumstances arise, that you can have a good experience with BudgetAir, but if the unforeseen does occur then expect to be on your own.
Budgetair appear to trade under various different guises. Booked return flights London to Koh Samui, via Bangkok on British Airways and connecting with Bangkok Airways.
Immediately after payment, realised there was a one-character mistake in my surname. Despite their booking process clearly not being automated (our e-ticket arrived the next day) and advising them straight away, they claimed it would cost about £250-£300 to correct. I contacted British Airways directly and asked what they could do, and they said they would always make changes like this for nothing, but it was an agency booking so BudgetAir had to instigate the change by calling their helpline. I explained this to BudgetAir but still they said it would cost £300 fee. Pretty steep, considering the entire return flight was only about £700!
Eventually I gave up with their call centre in Amsterdam, despite escalating my issue to a 'manager'. To be honest, they had some difficulty completely understanding English. I said I'd rebook the flights again directly with British Airways and just take them to court (citing unfair fees) to get my money back off them.
I left it at that, and a few days later (after various token reductions in their fee demand) miraculously they decided that they could make the change after all at no charge, albeit meaning both people travelling would be on separate bookings (which was fine).
So it all turned out OK in the end, but I had to be pretty tough with them to make them play ball, and I expect most people would just allow themselves to be stitched up with unfair and completely unjustified fees. I would have been happy to pay a reasonable fee for the change - it was my mistake after all.
Also, not entirely Budgetair's fault, also they failed to mention that our bags would not be checked ('interlined') all the way through to Koh Samui, meaning we'd have to collect them at Bangkok and check them back in.
Despite them sorting everything out, the fact that I had to basically bully/threaten them into it means I can't possibly award anything more than 1 star.
EDIT - I felt a bit harsh for originally awarding them one star and revised it up to two, but since they've left a pretty useless 'response' trying to justify their behaviour I'm putting it back to one again.
Purchased a ticket on budgetair.ru and passengers got late for a return flight, because of an airline. The woman on the phone (Maria in Moscow) did everything she could not to help us out:
1. First time I called her she said that the tour agency didn't have the technical capability to rebook a ticket. She sent me to the airline. I've spent a few hours talking on the phone to the airlines only to find out that only the tour agency has the ability to make a rebooking.
2. When I called her the second time she said that we failed to notify the airline in 72 hours in advance and therefore the ticket has been cancelled.
3. I went ahead and looked up ticket terms on their website for this flight. It said that both tickets were refundable and excangeable for a fee. Even after telling her that I found the conditions for the same flight on the website whe told me that the terms I found are irrelevant and I need to find the terms for the exact same date the flight was on (which was impossible, the website does everything to hide the terms).
4. Only after telling her that I "supposedly" found the terms for that exact flight saved in a flight she told me that she will be able to change the booking.
Because of their laziness I've almost had to purchase new return tickets (over 1500 USD). Even then after spending at least 8 hours talking to the agency and the airlines they charged me an extra fee of around 150 USD for making the rebooking.
Stay away from this crooked website.
I just booked a last minute return British Airways flight from Heathrow to Frankfurt..
The E-tiicket arrived in my inbox within 4 minutes of the booking. The price on the British airways site was £719. On BudgetAir the same flight was only £181.
A fantastic saving and I'm happy with the service.
My flights were rescheduled, meaning that I would have to take two more days off work and be stuck in Shanghai Airport for over 24 hours on both the outward and return journeys.
As I wasn't given any alternative, I had to cancel my flights with BudgetAir. I then asked for the full refund I was entitled to. Initially, BudgetAir said that it would take 10-12 weeks to refund me the ticket amount, but they wouldn't refund the flight booking fee, credit card costs or Airline Failure service.
After making an official complaint to the airline and writing about this experience on Trust Pilot, I was given a full refund within a few days.
I found Budget Air originally as the cheapest option for my selected fight. I had to change my flight and add an additional leg. Alma was able to find me the cheapest flight available - saving me over £500 and processed the transaction straight away.
Will definitely use again.
Outstanding service. Efficient, friendly and professional. Dealt with my request to cancel my travel arrangements without delay and made the whole process easy and hassle free. Very good, clear and prompt communication. I would be happy to recommend Budgetair to anyone and wont hesitate to use their service again.
First of all, I found cheaper flights here than anywhere else. Second, my tickets (e-tickets) arrived instantly. Then, when I discovered I had failed to book under my legal name--I do almost everything under my shortened name-- they were amazingly helpful in guiding me through the process to right the situation. I found that they would respond to my emails either with a prompt email or a phone call. Some of the reviews here made me nervous to try Budget Air. Now I plan to go ahead and book another trip through them. They simply could not have been nicer, or more responsive and professional. Very much a fan! I even spoke with an American customer service rep who offered a few helpful travel tips.
they said they would send you the e ticket when they receive the payment. this is not true at all!!!!
I received my invoice which I considered as a proof that they received my money. But!! nothing happened then! I have not got any response after 12 hours since the invoice email. And I don't know whether they will refund me or not. Such a bad experience..
I was a little worried when I was prompted to send a scan of my debit card and passport, but I saw it was a relatively common request with some airlines.
BudgetAir reassured me each step of the way and I got my confirmation and e-ticket emailed to me.
I was very happy to use BudgetAir and deal with their wonderful staff.
I'm sorry to hear of problems other people have had with this company.
Just tried booking tickets, money left account but no email confirmation. When I called budgetair the lady on the phone didn't even have a record of my transaction or order number. I think my money may be gone, fingers crossed.
This is the first time I've used budgetair.co.uk and I'm appalled to find that both bookings that I made separately had order confirmation failures.
Once I made payment for the orders i received the following message (and more):
'During the booking process it appears that in the time between processing payment and confirming the order, the product in the shopping cart was unfortunately no longer available. We have received your payment, but have not been able to complete your booking.....'
Surprisingly they have no problem taking your money but they do fail to confirm whether the flights were booked, and now I must call them at on 0843 number at 10p/min to find out if they're going to be able to confirm my flight or not.
Both bookings were made quite quickly without any pauses or breaks (literally took about 2mins to fill out the online forms so there's no chance of the order timing out.
I sincerely hope they sort out both bookings and confirm everything otherwise this will be raised to watchdog.
I wanted to book a trip to Singapore and the prices on Budget Air were excellent. I have booked well over 100 trips in the last 10 years and I know how booking services are supposed to work (at least all that are competent). Budget Air managed to violate every known rule, from a input window that refused to allow more than one person to be booked (I tried 3 times), to providing a telephone link to customer service that took me to the Philippines and a person who spoke English with a mouthful of bad mush. During our 17 minutes conversation he left the line 4 times for a total of 9 minutes, asked me questions that had nothing to do with the booking, wanted to know the email address of the bank that issued my Visa card (I have no idea), could not get it through his head that the person's name I had provided as my emergency contact was not me, and eventually sent an email to that person's address but addressed to me confirming a reservation that he said he had cancelled. After being put on hold for the 4th time and waiting for 3 minutes, I hung up. Even though I quit halfway through the process, I still got a message that confirmed my reservation. Idiocy. This is not Budget air, It is Forget it Air.
The heading above says it all. BudgetAir has a super website, fast and easy. The confirmed reservation quickly arrives into your e-mail box and the price is right! I've never had a problem and advice via telephone is readily available. What more can one ask for!!
We were looking to book flights to Tampa and were looking on skyscanner site, the flights we chose brought us to the BudgetAir.co.uk site, which was great. It was quick and simple, stress free and we were very pleased with the flight times, stopover times and of course, the price. We will definately recommend BudgetAir.co.uk
Five star service, Fully satisfied in all aspects.
I found the whole process easy to follow. The flights were at extremely competitive prices and the service of responding with my invoice and e tickets was almost immediate. I would definitely use BudgetAir again and am currently looking for other flights whilst in America and hotel accommodation.
We booked flights to Cairo with budgetair to go on holiday. The holiday was cancelled by the tour company due to the situation in Egypt at the moment. We contacted Egyptair who said that if we'd booked the flights through them they would've given us a full refund. We then contacted budgetair and at first they said no refunds. After my husband asked to speak to the management, the girl on the phone said she'd contact Egyptair and let us know their position via email. In her email she said Egyptair are not giving any refunds and won't make an exception. A second call to budgetair produced a similar result - i.e. they still maintained we could have no refund. Another woman who was to go on the same tour booked her Egyptair flights with Opodo and got a refund minus some cancellation fees, the refund was even suggested by Opodo themselves! Budgetair do offer low prices, but is costing us dearly at the moment. For us - never again!
So I booked two flights , have had the money taken from my card- then once we had secured the flights we booked hotels . 24hrs later I get an email saying the flights were no longer available at the price advertised. I asked about what price they were available and got no response.
Was also told i may not get the refund for three days .
Not a great experience.
Found flights, paid within 3 minutes. At the very end AFTER payment had been taken, this message appears:
"During the booking process it appears that in the time between between processing payment and confirming the order, the product in the shopping cart was unfortunately no longer available. We have received your payment, but have not been able to complete your booking."
I checked the site and other sites for those flights and they are still available.
It has asked me to contact customer service "immediately" but I cannot do so until the lines open again at 8am and costs 10p/min by the way.
Looks like this has happened on numerous occasions to other people and to me it sounds like a tactic for them to earn extra interest and phone line revenues. This is such disgusting behaviour in this day and age, and if anyone reads this, please write in to roguetraders!! (https://ssl.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006mg74/contact) I already have and hopefully if enough of us do it will stop this happening.
I never write reviews about sites/restuarants etc but I was so disgusted by this it earnt the honour of being the subject of my first ever net review.
Get your act together budgetair.
Shahriar Kalam found this review useful
Got a fab deal on a flight to Lisbon. I's subsequently read some bad reviews which scared me but the eticket and invoice came through immediately and I'm on the BA site so all should be good. Would definitely browse BudgetAir again for flights
Chose flights, paid for them within two minutes and a message appeared saying my order had failed and I had to contact them in the morning on a phone call that costs 10p per minute and you are kept on hold for ages.
Staff told me that flights were available and I was booked on my chosen flight. Shortly after I received an email demanding more money. Had to call back at 10p per minute and was told the flights were only available at a higher price. I gave them the opportunity to find alternatives and they failed. As I needed to travel urgently, i looked on lastminute.com and got the same flights that budgetair could not provide and i paid £200 less than I had initially paid budgetair.
Their staff are useless and I was told I could not speak to a line manager as they would not be able to do anymore and also they were too busy to speak to me.
The company fails to realise that when they took my money we entered into a contract. As such they are totally in breach of contract for advertising a product for sale, taking my money and then not providing what I paid for.
Please keep away from this company. They run a business with total disregard of good customer service.
13 June 2013
I received a phone call from Mr Kenny Marcelus, supervisor at budgetair. He was very apologetic about what happened. He has personally reassured me that I should contact him in future to book my travel requirements. As he was sincere, I will certainly give budgetair a chance in the future. Will post my experience, positive or negative, when I next use their services.
Just at the very end of the transaction, this message appears:
"During the booking process it appears that in the time between between processing payment and confirming the order, the product in the shopping cart was unfortunately no longer available. We have received your payment, but have not been able to complete your booking."
It has asked me to contact customer service "immediately" but I cannot do so until the lines open again at 8am. I then tried calling my bank to cancel the transaction but there's nothing they can do, so now I have lost over £2000 and have to wait until 8am to find out what I can do about this.
I looked at these flights yesterday and they've already gone up £400 in the space of 24 hours, I needed to buy these flights now before the price goes up yet again. I am absolutely disgusted that they think it is acceptable to take my money for flights that were NOT THERE.
This is the very last thing that I need, booking flights is stressful enough when they're this expensive, I DO NOT NEED yet MORE stress.
Stay away as far as I'm concerned, taking my money for flights that aren't there sounds downright illegal to me.
Booked my first family holiday flight with Budget airline after reading positive reviews. As first time booking online 6 tickets and I was nervous. However after booking within few hours got all the invoice and e tickets. I doubled check with qatr and all was confirmed. Was so excited and happy! I did make a little error which was resolved immidietely through the companys excellent communication. Thank you Alex! Had an easy stress free flight and I would recommend to book with budget airway with confidence!
I booked a flight and they sent me the confirmation asap but not the e-ticket. I have less than 12 hours for the flight and a guy on call center told me that he would send me a link for paying for extra costs but he did not. I am trying to reach somebody on call center and "all agents are always occupied!" If they tell me SOMETHING, I am gonna book another flight but they just don't say anything CERTAIN.
I don't even know if they are gonna refund me if I cannot make the flight. Stay away!!
EDIT: They apologized for the inconvenience, told that the ticket price increased but that they would be paying for the additional cost (ALTHOUGH the possibility of incurring of additional costs are written in the Terms & Conditions and I had agreed to pay for extra costs) as an apology. So, we just got the e-ticket, made our reservation, the issue is totally resolved and we actually saved more than 50%. DO NOT STAY AWAY :))
Booking involved a change of planes and had to be changed after the first flight was moved to a later time. Fair enough. I called them and was told that as long as I paid an extra £17 THAT DAY I would be moved to another flight. I did this by telephone, but they obviously failed to confirm the ticket with the airline. When the price subsequently increased, they refused to admit their mistake and LIED to me saying the flight had been cancelled by the airline when in fact it was budget air who failed to confirm the ticket with the airline. Having to rebook at the higher price (with another agency) has left me £150 out of pocket (assuming I ever see the promised refund) but budget air don't care at all. In fact, they have told me it will take 8 WEEKS to get a refund of the monies I have already paid them - I just hope they are around long enough to refund me!
In summary, this company absolutely refuse to rectify their mistakes so I would not recommend them to anyone.
As others complaint here, I have a promo code from my last booking which I tried to redeem and it did not happen. I emailed the company a few days ago and no reply as yet. I have not completed the booking yet waiting for the reply. Hopefully it will arrive before my ticket's price increases.
Full refund received ! Thanks
The company wrote immediately after this comment, and now the refund is on its way (7 days).
I am greatly distressed right now because the Budgetair company has taken money out of the University account without us confirming the booking. There was a payment problem on 19/04/2013 with the University card, after realising it was not possible for the university to proceed with the payment, we did not confirm (we called Budgetair to talk about it at the time, they were aware of the problem). I received an email saying that if I did not confirm on the 19th, the booking would be lost, so we did nothing.
Now today I received a confirmation from the company as if my ticket was still booked, and this scared me because in the mean-time I already booked another ticket and paid for it!
It seems they took the money from the University account without authorisation, and also without us sending some papers that were supposed to be necessary to book with a credit card from a different person than the passenger. I am truly devastated because I do not have the money to pay for this ticket, I already paid mine, and it makes me look pretty bad towards the University funding my research trip.
The University's Finance department phoned them, and supposedly the person in charge of our account is not there until Friday, so we have to call then. It seems like an awful lot of time before I can be certain that this mistake is rectified! And reading other comments I am now afraid that they are trying to gain time by leading us away.
I realised also that Friday would be one week after the attempted booking took place, is that a deadline for us to complain?
I hope BudgetAir is going to do something about this unacceptable issue very quickly, this is not my money I have lost, but it is even worse!
I bought online 10 hours ago and I only got the booking confirmation. When do I get my E-ticket? I believe that online is faster, a matter of seconds and e-ticket is being sent.
wrote firstname.lastname@example.org and a lady from budgetair called me up and asked some details and presto after few minutes the invoice was emailed to me.
I went through wego search engine to find some flight options for Syd-Phuket, Budget Air Uk came in by far the cheapest, in fact I thought this was too good to be true, surely I couldnt save this amount. I went on the Qantas website, and for the exact same flight it was around $300.00 per person more expensive. I thought I would sleep on it and check the next day the flights as I thought no this has to be a mistake, went on the next day and to my amazement the same price was there, so I thought I would do some internet research on the company. I went on Trip Advisor and there were some negatives and positives, however it kept on coming back it was a legit company. I then came upon trust pilot, and thought okay well it seems like it is a legit company. I thought worst case situation when booking the flights it would come back as pricing has changed, and they would charge me for the flights, and I would be forced to take the more expensive option, or going through the hassle of getting my money back.
After all weekend thinking about what to do, I thought just go for it. I must admit I was so nervous booking the flights, it went through all good, got a confirmation order that pricing had gone through, then the anxious wait of the etickets, and to my joy there they were around about 40 minutes later, even checked with Qantas website and my details are in the system. One thing though as I expected this might happened to my credit card to the bank's credit for doing this ,I received an email adivising of suspicous activity and they had put a suspension on my credit card, so just be prepared for this. I just rang up my bank to say it was okay and it was lifted. Now one thing I read in the trip advisors forum and it is so true, so many more people will go out of their way to write a negative review of a company these days, than writing a positive review - hence my reason for going out of my way to write this. These days you do have to be so careful of shonky companies, I just want to say that I am not one of those fake reviewers - if you are unsure of it being a legit company still, just google reviews of the company. I just hope that I can give some people out there some peace of mind with it being a legit company, and the prices are genuine. Rachael Martin - Sydney Australia
i am unable to claim my £15 discount code, trying many times to contact them but received no responses so far. However, the first booking was perfect, everything went well. Hope that someone would help me sort it out!!!!!
Here is some feedback on our experience of BudgetAir who we used to book flights to South Africa. To cut a long story short, they failed to inform us of a 24 hour change to Lufthansa's flight schedule which meant that we turned up at Manchester Airport on 28th December to be told at Check-In that we were not due to fly until 24 hours later on 29th December. After contacting BudgetAir they promised to re-imburse us for the wasted taxi journeys as well as the money we incurred re-booking an internal flight in South Africa. We have also requested some compensation for the 1 day we lost on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. Over 3 months later and after countless email exchanges and several phone calls, we have still not got a proper answer from them as to when we will receive this money and how much it will be. The last contact I had was last Thursday 4th April when I was put on hold for 15 minutes whilst attempting to speak to Kenny Marcelo, after which I was then told that Kenny was busy and would call me back in 5 minutes....I am still waiting for that phone call! At least 5 times now they have failed to contact us when promised. This is appalling customer service and I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone! We obviously chose to book with BudgetAir because Skyscanner highlighted them as being the cheapest, however after all the time and money we have spent dealing with their incompetence, I just now wish we had booked with one of the other companies.
14/04/2013 UPDATE: After posting this review on TrustPilot, Kenny responded quickly to our claim and the agreed sum is now finally in my bank account. I have therefore updated the rating from 1 star to 2 star.
we are finally back from our New York Holiday after a nightmare round trip, where we booked with BUGET AIR for a Lufthansa Flight and we found out to be flying United Airlines on a really small and ugly plain for 8 hrs with the cheapest quality you can imagine: we flight separated on the way to go in our first trip outside Europe as a couple, the system online was not working when we tried to check in and the cabin crew was not able to help so we had to flight separated for 8 HRS and 30 mins, squeezed in the central row seats.
On the return we could flight together but again on a really small and cheap plain for 8 hrs. We'd like to ask for a reimbursement as we bought Lufthansa quality and we had to travel American United, a completely different level: really similar to Ryanair, we would have never bought something similar or an intercontinental round trip.
Adding a few details: cabin crew and check in ground assistant very rude and unfriendly, we'll never fly with them again, the vacation was perfect but the flight :(
Deleting emails without reading, over £80 + credit card charges to change flight to next day, high charges to call keeping you on the phone longer than required - never again
It is a great website and easy to book with all the charges are visible and notify to the users.
I recommend every one to use it.
