Advertised for half price but charged full amount. Not impressed at all!!!

An (almost) excellent product, with just one niggle
The check results were clear and easy to understand, but did not include the bike's frame number so I couldn't check it immediately when I inspected the bike. I ended paying a deposit anyway (either that or possibly lose the sale to someone else) and just hoped that when I got home to complete the validity check with the frame number that I found on the bike that it would be correct. I can understand why the number was not shown on the report but a reasonable compromise I feel would be to show just the last 6 digits of the number to give a possible clue at the inspection as to whether there might be a problem.
NOTE- If I had had a smartphone with internet access with me when I carried out the inspection I could have completed the validity check while standing next to the bike - and awarded a full five stars for this review.

Confirmation for peace of mind
We had recieved the log book for the car we bought for our daughter as when it was advertised and we decided ti buy the car after viewing it and having the test drive, the purchaser offered to drive it to our home roughly 12 miles away. I checked the mot but when I suggested my daughter go with her dad to take the purchaser home, he said she dosen't have to sign it as he would see to it. i thought that maybe he knew best and my daughter did not have to sign the log book! So when we recieved the log book in the post I was grateful to have the evidence in black and white and to my horror the car was a cat c' . I would not of minded if the purchaser was honest as my own car is a cat c through an accident which was not my fault. So yes a small amount of money for peace of mind in black and white.

More simple than simples
This couldn't be easier, type reg number, select level of information required and there you have it, all on screen.
What was a surprise is that you can pay with Paypal to make life even easier, so click pay, enter Paypal password and get back to your life within 1 minute start to finish !

Poor
Wasnt happy with what I got for my money, Done a review on a van came back with no info about van just age,no finance owing and not been invold in accident ,have used someone else before for less money and I had a copy sent to me in post to keep, wouldn't use you again !!!!!!

Some piece of mind with little effort
As this was the most I'd spent on a used car, and in a private sale with "caveat emptor" I thought it would be worth doing a check to make sure there was nothing dodgy, All my other research and gut feel told me the deal was straight but it did seem worth checking. I searched a few HPI type sites and there is quite a difference between the prices and the level of service and the cheapest is definitely not the best value. The one feature that I deemed essential (outstanding finance secured on the car) was missing from many of the offers. My only niggle with this one was that there was no back-up the mileage on the car given. This wasn't clear in the service description, but it didn't say that it did so the fact that it didn't should be a surprise. Overall worth the fee for the peace of mind.

Saved us from buying an "Insurance total loss" vehicle!!
We had actually written out the cheque for the vehicle, but at the last minute decided to do a HPI check. So glad we did - it showed that the vehicle had been subject to a total loss claim (either damaged and written off or stolen and not recovered).
Very happy and will definitely use the service again next time we are in a similar position.

Bought Trust Pilot check and then bought my Shogun with confidence.
For peace of mind I upgraded my initial 'Silver' check to a Platinum check which gave a comprehensive check on all of the issues that can be a nightmare when red flagged if no check is taken out prior to parting with ones money.

Great price & service; but does not tell you limitations
The product was very keenly priced and everything was going well.
The main problem has been the fact that there was a limit of how many times certain information that did not add up for the vehicle to be added to their system.
In this case the registration date on the V5 document was not correct, after a few attempts I can no longer try another date, for example when I actually go to see the car rather than relying on the seller to give me the correct information.
Which means that my guarantee is not valid anymore and the report shows a question mark for plate transfers.
Nowhere when clicking the link on the email to update the information does it tell me the number of times I can try or the page it takes me to.

Spot on car check.
I wanted to buy a BMW 1 series from Bigcarworld. Bigcarworld has got a very useful chat service and the dealer confirmed that the car was in stock, they are HPI checked and I could come to view it. I then carried out a car status review from trust pilot (I think this is HPI as well) and got a warning saying that there was an outstanding finance. When I contacted the Bigcarworld again about this on their chat-line I was told that the car has been sold - I was not at all surprised with their answer. Thanks to Trustpilot.

A Fantastic resource for the safety conscious
The thing I like about the car status checks is that you can get them anytime. Many people like me will be browsing the classifieds and other auction sites for a bargain and it gives one peace of mind to be able to type in the registration details of a car or bike and get some reassurance within minutes.
I have used the facility more than once and will use it again. It saved me from buying a written off motorbike so it was money well spent.

Quick, Accurate, Helpful
I went for the Platinum check as it's a tiny additional expense, but worthwhile, when spending thousands on a used car. The check flagged up 2 issues with the car I was buying. One which the seller had told me about, but not the other which was outstanding finance. I was able to address this with the seller and have it dealt with before I bought the car. Car Status Chech also replied immediately with a query I had on activating the guarantee.

A good resource
I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of this site. I did worry that I'd pay my £2.95 and receive nothing at all. The basic report was useful and I feel it helped me during my recent purchase of a car. Well recommended. Buy with absolute confidence.

Did NOT do the job it said.
I provided the correct VIN number, correct V5 serial number ,correct reg number.but the issue number was not on the V5.only the date of first registration (12 july 20010) If the information is not acceptable you should not be charged the extra fee. The correct way is to seek payment is AFTER the information given is acceptable by the company,I have paid for the extra garantee which i wil not get.

We are sorry to hear you had issues in validating the guarantee. I can see that the issue date you input was the date the vehicle was registered however this is different to the date that the V5 log book was registered. The V5 issue date is located in section 8 of the V5 after the document reference number. I have reactivated your check to allow you to input the correct date. If this section is not on the V5 document we would advise to hold fire on the purchase until you can check the complete document to validate the seller and ensure the document has not be forged or stolen. Bang on target..
Needed to know if this V5 i wanted to purchase had been shoved about abit but with the platinum option all worked out well and the car was as clean as a whistle.....Happy days..
