One pair of glasses arrived within a week & are perfect. The others 2 pairs arrived 4 days later. I am very happy with the service & will be using this site again and recommend them to others.
I placed an order for 1 x Carrera Glasses CA7571 (CA7571-WZR-BLACK) on 5th October and as yet I have still not received them as of today 24th November despite their website claiming to despatch even the most complex of orders within 28 days.
I have contacted them on several occasions only to be told a string of fabrications. The latest one being that the frame that I ordered was out of stock (despite it still showing in stock on their website). Then the suppliers sending the wrong batch ‘but the correct batch will arrive within 7 days’ however that is now over 2 weeks ago. Still no glasses.
I very much doubt that my order will ever be completed as this company seems to be living in a fantasy world all of its own making where they believe that they can treat potential customers how they please and get away with it!!!!
The only good point so far is that their customer service is polite and quick at responding to emails but clearly have no idea about what’s really going on in other departments.
I called customer services before placing my order. My prescription was unclear and I asked "Does the line above the CYL number mean the number is negative?" Without hesitation i was told "yes". It was neverr requested to send a copy of my prescription if in doubt.
On receiving the glasses, it was obvious the information given to me was incorrect.
The Company then insisted that I pay for THEIR error to have my glasses re-made.
They where not willing to enter into a discussion over the matter or pass my complaint to a more senior person. My replacement glasses took over 5 weeks to produce (30th Sept - 8th Nov). This is unacceptable, especially considering my complaint.
It is obvious that the Company knows that they make extra income on order errors by not requesting a copy of the prescription with the order.
I also requested that the reading part of my bi-focals be smaller, as I only use it for labels etc. They said they would do that. However the glasses I received did NOT have this done.
The company are now spaming me with emails about their special offers.
Take my advice - Go to a high street shop and save money and time.
You should try direct sight for your glasses, I got 2 pairs for the price of 1, fantastic value and they fit so well. Had then delivered in just a few days, can't see me using anyone else now.
Have been meaning to do this for a while! I lost a pair of glasses that cost £400 & was looking to replace them urgently. My daughter- in- law found your site & I ordered 2 pairs. Love both pairs, service was fab & I shall be a returning customer. Thank you so much.
Excellent glasses. I have now bought four different pairs for the price of one at my Optician. Friendly service and generally a pleasurable experience. My ONLY complaint would be the lack of communication once the order has been placed. It would be good if the website could post a weekly update as to the progress of the order. I had to wait quite a while for one pair as the frames were out of stock. I was not in a hurry but it would have been good to know. I have already recommended DirectSight to friends and I know that two have ordered.
I was a bit dubious about ordering my glasses online but I'm glad I did. The glasses arrived quickly and are perfect. Would not hesitate to order again. Have convinced my husband now and he is uber cautious!
Sunglasses ordered 14 August. Web site states 2 weeks delivery. Kept being told delivery expected in few days. Then told delivery would be by courier, but still no delivery date. We then left for a long stay holiday. I asked if instead of a courier service would then post overseas, if not cancel.
They cancelled within 30 minutes, money back in bank account 7 days later. No other contact, no apology.... nothing.
So quick and easy. Cannot recommend this service enough! I've told everyone I know to simply try 5 frames and send over the prescription. Amazing service, really helpful staff. Lovely specs - much nicer than any I tried in 3 major optical chains. I now love wearing my glasses and not afraid to lose or break them as I have 2 pairs!
The service was very quick and when I called to check on my order I spoke to Mike who was very pleasant and extremely helpful. I wouldn't go anywhere else to get my glasses now
I needed a pair of reading glasses in a retro style for my part in a play where I am an old woman in the 1920s. I found the ideal pair on DirectSight, and for £52 odd, including postage, I got them and another snazzy pair of red framed reading glasses. The customer helpline explaining any difficulty with ordering was wonderful, and inspired trust. The specs arrived in timely fashion, together with the old pair of mine I'd returned for them to measure. As soon as I get my new NHS free sight test done (due in January) I am off to buy some new bifocals from DirectSight. I doubt I will need to buy in stores again.
I've had a couple of pairs of glasses re-glazed and I cannot fault the service or price. I paid a lot less than Specsavers and they were very quick to re-glaze and post back to me. Both pairs were back with me in the same week I'd sent them.
Web page does not describe hinge type. Spectacles I have ordered had basic type of hinge when arrived.
I ordered through Top Cashback and have not received the promised cashback..
The service was great. Taking into account that I'm a fussy pain in the butt.
Helen always replied to every email and did her best to absorb my needs. I pushed the boundaries a bit with my second order by not putting in my prescription ( expecting them to look it up from my previous order). I couldn't really as I was on my Kindle on a train. They sorted it without blinking and even had a manager mail to confirm that it was done. Seriously impressive. Don't get that these days.
Only one thing.. the glasses cases.. they don't hold any of the spectacles comfortably. It is a tight squeeze and one feels like you are going to break the spectacles. They are too small. I went to Boots Opticians and bought 4 bigger cases. Yes 4 !! at a tenner a pop. Did not expect that !! A bit annoyed with that. Doesn't anyone notice that ??
I was pleased with the telephone response, but had to phone as I got very confused on line, maybe just me.
I was trying to find large specs but had trouble working out the sizes.
Then I saw the offer of trying some at home free so asked on phone for that & was told I would have to pay up front, which I did, but when they came they did not suit so I have given up the idea of buying on line. I have returned the items and am now waiting for refund.
Ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses for my husband. I was sent the frames for trial and selection in a week's time ( which is usually much faster, but a bank holiday delayed the service) .
I then wanted a faster delivery of the order as it was meant to be surprise on his birthday. And Voila ! The customer service guys were very helpful, tracked through the order, sped up the process by a note to the warehouse and here we are - just on time for a birthday gift ! All of this in a week.
Totally recommend their services for quick and reliable orders.
I ordered an old but still serviceable frame to be reglazed with an updated reading lens prescription. Delighted with the result - good quality lenses, well fitted and the pupillary distance calculated for me from the original glazing. Ordering was simple and turnaround time exactly as indicated.
I would highly recommend Direct Sight, I had never used an online optician before and was a bit wary! I cannot fault them, my order was back within the week, with no problems at all and the price was fantastic! I would definitely use them again.
Four pairs of very expensive Persol sunglasses were returned to me after several unsuccessful attempts by Direct Sight to reglaze them and apply the correct tint.
Of these, two pairs suffered frame damage during the reglaze process which, based on this sample of their work would indicate a 50% failure rate for reglazed frames.
They refunded the monies paid for the reglazing but not for the frame damage or multiple return postage costs paid for by myself to falilitate rectification of what I consider to be their abysmal standards of workmanship.
The fact that they made at least a partial refund of overall costs, I would suggest, is an admission of failure on their part.
I will avoid this company at all costs in the future, however readers of this review must decide for themselves.
When a friend recommended I use an online company to get my glasses reglazed, I made the huge mistake of using www.directSight.co.uk for the service. As a pensioner cost is important to me and DirectSight seemed, on the face of it, to be the cheapest option.
The glasses took ages to be returned and when they arrived, they were literally unwearable. The lenses were far too thick and so badly fitted that they touched my face! I sent the glasses back to directsight and asked them to correct the reglaze but they refused. They said the glasses were fine and what I had ordered. Despite numerous emails they flatly refused to correct the unwearable glasses they had supplied or give a full refund. So they now have over £50 of my money and I have absolutely nothing to show for it.
Thankfully I got the glasses back from DirectSight and sent them to www.glasses2you.co.uk after emailing them and explaining the problems DirectSight had caused. They were amazing and managed to get the glasses perfect despite not having the original lenses to use as a template. DirectSight refused to send my original lenses back, which is little short of theft in my opinion.
Steer well clear of DirectSight!!

I made a purchace from this site on a pair of sunglasses which seemed to be a great price and were listed as 'in stock'. Was told to wait two weeks for the delievery. when this date came and went, i rang the company and they told me they didnt have them in stock and that their system wasnt automatic for stock updates, which is pathetic for such a simple system to be in place. they then told me to wait another two weeks which came and went and was told their was supplier issues from ray ban. out of curiosity, i asked in a few local optitians to see if this was the case, which it wasnt as they had recieved orders of the exact same product within this time period. every time i spoke to them (or should i say mark) on the phone they span me a different lie about what was going on. also, on one occasion they lifted the phone and slammed it back down in order to cut me off as i rang 6 simes to get through to them.
im not the only one affected by this, as many others who saw the deal on www.hukd.com experienced the exact same problems. then when it came to a refund, it took 11 days and a telephone call (which they blamed my bank for the delay (another lie)) to recieve my refund. all this over nearly 10 weeks
i urge you never to use such a terrible, terrible company as it will only waste your time and patients
I ordered my glasses several weeks ago and I am still waiting for them. I have written numerous emails, a letter and trying to telephone the company, I have heard nothing. I have not had any reply to my emails or letter. I cannot contact them by telephone as it appears not to be working and the glasses have not arrived. I have no idea what is going on and I would very much like the courtesy of some reply to let me know what has happened to my order. My advice to anyone thinking of using this company would be ..............................forget it, use somebody else.
I have ordered a month ago a pair of Aviator Glasses Ray Ban i paid delivery 3.85 after that second day i received an email saying i will have to wait 7 to 14 working days... WHAT? After 14 working DAYS nothing was there no one answer my questions and they send me an email saying that i need to wait another 7 days.
I been waiting 7 days and nothing happend!
AVOID THIS i want to sue them for using my money for a month!
Placed an order for glasses on June 3rd. Payment was taken from my account the following day. Hadn't heard anything by June 21st so emailed for an update and was advised that there was a supply problem with the frames I'd ordered, which would be resolved within the next week. I agreed to leave the order open for another week and was assured I would be informed if anything changed.
On July 1st I still hadn't heard anything so I emailed requesting that the order be cancelled and my money refunded. I received an email back the same day saying that my order had been cancelled and that I would receive a refund.
I expected the money I paid to be refunded with the same speed with which the payment was taken in the first place, so when I discovered I had not been refunded on June 2nd, I sent another email asking when I would receive it. I received a reply assuring me that the refund had been processed.
By July 5th I still had not received the refund, so I sent yet another email trying to find out what was happening. I was advised to check with my bank as the refund had been processed at your end.
It is now July 11th and I still have not received my refund, regardless of whether or not it's been "processed" by DirectSight. It's a trivial amount of money that I'm owed and I'm left wondering whether I will have to resort to using the small claims court to recover it.
wow!for once the service lived up to the advert-instant response to emails requesting help-fast to sort out a problem with my payment and discount for already inexpensive specs-after trying some frames at home via freepost i saved £429 -LITERALLY!the frames i saw in my opticians on the high street for £229 -the exact same style for £45 on direct sight-so with the 40% discount i bought 2 pairs for £29 so i got my regular prescription and my closework specs for one payment of £29!!!unbelievable!ordered them and they were here within 48 hours-after 50 years of wearing specs and paying HUGE prices for frames i shall never buy anywhere else-direct sight is ACE!!!
On Monday I received my order and I just wanted to say that I am very happy with my glasses and also the customer servise I had. Whenever I emailed customer service they always replied promtly (even on a Bank holiday!) and they were always very helpful. My order came safely and on time. My glasses were very good quality and feel confortable and the price was very good. If the quality of your products, the customer service and the low prices remains that good, then for sure I will be ordering more things from them and I will be recomending the site to friends and family without hesitation. Please keep up the good work and thank you for the excellent service
I always thought you could only ever buy glasses from an optician. I never imagined I would buy glasses online. How wrong was I! Direct Sight are a revelation. The choice of frames offered by Direct Sight is fantastic, greater than any shop on the high street. And the service was reliable, efficient and easy; they responded to my email queries the same day! And the prices are incredibly reasonable (I don't know how they do it). Then the glasses arrived and they were as I'd hoped and expected, and fitted perfectly. I can't imagine buying glasses from anywhere else now. Fantastic value and great looking glasses. Thank you Direct Sight!
What an 'Eye-Opener'..(no pun intended..)! I have a complex prescription and have always used an expensive High Street optician for my Eye Test and to buy the glasses. Having got a very thorough test from them, as normal I was ushered to look at their expensive frames which with my prescription would start at £350 for one pair. I have ordrered two pairs from Direct Sight - one 'Designer' style and a second more discrete with a tint to use as sunglasses and they have both cost me half the price of one pair!! You really should try them if you want to save a lot of money and still get the product you need (and more..)
I've ordered 3 pairs in total from them
Eventually the glasses turned out all right and were reasonably priced.
The first pair I ordered had the wrong prescription (by far, I could not see a thing), and the edge between the frame and the lenses was extremely poorly cut (the lens was sticking out the frame)
I returned it to get it fixed. When I asked their customer service about it, they told me I had to pay for thinner lenses if I wanted a better result
(Which I could have believed, if my glasses from specsavers of the same lens thickness did not look perfect.)
They also said they will tell me what happened with the prescription once they get the results from the lab.
After a series of emails I agreed to pay an extra fee to upgrade, as I didn't want the ugly lens cut, once the results are back from the lab, explaining what went wrong with my prescription.
They finally told me that my pd distance was incorrect (to which I replied that this is an utter lie, as the prescription was dramatically off, and that I still wish to go ahead and upgrade, if they now get the prescription right which I doubt they will)
A minute later I received an email that my glasses have been dispatched!
They said that it wasn't clear what I wanted, so they send them back to me!
When asked why did they proceed with returning me the glasses whilst having an ongoing conversation with me, I received no reply.
Fortunately, the prescription was now correct, and the cut of the lens was actually all right, so I didn't take the matter further, despite my frustration.
A few months later I ordered two pairs of fully rimmed single vision sunglasses from their own range.
They took 2 months to be delivered, I send them 3 angry emails asking where they are (first one a month after my perchance) to which I did not receive a SINGLE reply.
Eventually, the glasses turned out, and again, they look fine!
So the moral if the story is that you should buy from them if you are NOT in a hurry, and you have a lot of patience in dealing with their appalling customer service. They will never admit their mistakes, and will never apologise.
When the frames turn up, they are usually a good deal and quality though...
