Brilliant for buyers

I am a regular ebay user. Mainly buying from the site. I think it is fantastic and have no problems. I also use the site as a price comparison when selling things privately. Like other people have said, the seller fees and paypal fees are a little high but as long as your item is sold it isn't a huge problem. I totally recommend the site. :)

Unless you want to loose money… do not use ebay (UK)

The product I bought via ebay UK does NOT function… and then the seller wants me to return the product to her with me paying the return postal fee!!!
I do not believe that this is the way to run business. To me she is a very untrustworthy seller.
I wish I had read all the negative feedback this seller has on ebay BEFORE submitting my order.
Without this is a conclusion, I find this very untrustworthy / random:
2-3 weeks before I received my item, there was another customer who had written a negative feedback (the product did not work either) by the same seller with the exact same product that I had bought. Is it a coincidence? That is an open question…

Furthermore, it is so unbelievable::
about a week after I posted my very negative feedback (with the same title as this review) up on the seller's profile, I was contacted by the seller, she writes:
She would like to offer me 3 GBP, if I change my negative rating to a positive 4 stars. She would transfer the 3 GBP to my account when my new rating was changed on her profile. She would transfer the 3 GBP 'without any delay'
How trustworthy is this seller?

She OFFERS me 3 GBP and I have LOST 43 GBP !!

Reel handelsplads

You can actually steal parts off of items you buy on ebay and send back for full refund and win every time!!

I have had numerous occasions since 1998 selling items on ebay where dishonest buyers actually steal parts off of items send them back and win a full refund with ebay and the seller is left out in the cold--totally!
Ebay's Customer Support will lie to you about their names and "SR" numbers on the phone when you follow up on a claim that is denied and they will go on to say you have won a second appeal --that your case was overturned and money will be refunded into your account in 5-7 days. It never happens and you chase endlessly with different representitives-- never to get anything or anywhere but hang up calls from their customer service, poor or no notes, lies and Customer Service people who don't speak understandable English and use that to their advantage to confuse you before they hang up and you have to start all over again.
You can buy anything on EBAY and just send back the empty box back, demand a refund and still win the dispute, keep the item and get your money back! This is the god's honest truth.
Ebay will say UPS, USPS or FedX could have lost the item out of the box in the return shipping-- you as a seller will be stuck with an empty returned box, a reversal of money in your account. You never win a dispute on a return item--period--"even if you have pictures and 100% documentation." Even if it is "sold as Parts" or "buy as is--no returns" and returned a month later or more--forget the 14 day return policy--that is a joke. You as a seller are screwed in every way.
Try it out --you will see! you can steal all day long and win every time as a buyer and Ebay will back you up!! And screw over the honest person selling. Sellers are disposable with Ebay--Ebay needs buyers to stay in business as sellers are a dime a dozen.
Management is a joke at EBAY--do not bother even asking for a manager as they "customer Service" will transfer you to the customer service Rep. next to them who will act as a manager and give you the same answer.

do not trust ebay!!

I have been an ebayer for many years 100% feedback, never a negative feedback and above standard detailed seller ratings. I had many hundreds items in shop and just a few weeks before Christmas put selling limits to 100 items, effectively.closing my shop. No justification. Ironically awarded me powerseller status soon afterwards. Complete sham, I have now moved to other market places.

no longer a good company to deal with, disgusting how they treat you.

My account was restricted for being linked to another I had never heard of, all they would say was it was linked. I had been a member for years and sold tens of thousands of pounds worth of stuff. No one had access to my account or I to theirs yet ebay still banned me from selling with 100% feedback from day one. The company is too big for its boots and no longer good for honest people yet you look at those with loads of bad feedback still trading.

EBAY IS NOT A GOOD SITE FOR SELLERS AND BE CAREFUL OF PAYPAL AS THEY ARE EBAY OWNED.

I WOULD NOT ADVISE SELLING OR BUYING ON EBAY. SELLER FEES WAY TO HIGH. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PAYPAL AS EBAY OWNES THEM AS WELL.

Wrong item sent, no refund, Ebay customer service nonexistent, resolution service fails

The very first time buyer = very bad experience. Item delivered one month later but that was due to flooding on my side at the beginning. I asked the seller to hold onto the item for 2 weeks. Afterwards it took him two weeks to deliver it. Upon arrival the item was badly damaged due to poor packaging plus it was a wrong one. I asked the seller for a refund to which he agreed but never sent. I decided to go to the resolution center. As a PayPal guest user I was forwarded to PayPal but cannot do anything as I did not received any required ID transaction. I am left shorter with money and with an useless piece of heavy junk.

Koeckritz rugs misrepresents the rugs it sells

I bought a 10x14ft rug on Ebay from a company ( Koeckritz Rugs ) It was advertised as a 33oz rug with a 1/2 pile height. It came folded up instead of rolled like all other rugs are shipped which left deep creases that remain to today. The rug had a 1/4 inch pile height and you could easily see the backing looking straight down at it. When I called the company I got a rude guy by the name of Kevin ( he wouln't give his last name and hung up on me when I asked, I'm stuck with this junk rug because it is to big for me to fold up again and ship back to them. DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY HAVE MISLEADING ADVERTISING AND ARE VERY RUDE!!!

The failure of eBay. What's the point anymore?

It seems to be more and more obvious that Ebay, by now, have worked out that addressing complaints or valid suggestions, from a small minority of its members, costs them money and that it is much more cost effective to pretend to have 'customer support' and seem to be 'looking into problems' and 'promoting safety' but, at the same time, actively hiding problems.

Conners & scammers are seen by members of the Ebay community. They are then reported. Sometimes Ebay will remove the offending auction, but, more often than not, these 'auctions' are left to run their course. Just on the 'Classified' adverts on motors...... there are virtually hundreds of scams every single day. We have seen thousands just in a weekend !!!!!

Even when these con artists do get caught & stopped (EVENTUALLY), their feedback pages are removed or blocked from being viewed, so no one can see how much money they have stolen from the Ebay buyers. Ebay do a BRILLIANT job of hiding it all. I have some excellent screenshots of these types of 'hidden' scams.

As we all know, Ebay has even covered the one 'public' outlet that we have. The 'Community' boards. It's against their rules to discuss any NARU member on there. Anyone discussing a scammer on the boards, is sanctioned by Ebay. (As has been seen over the years).

Ebay then just fob the complainers off with stock replies and pre-written scripts, that skirt around the problems and miss the points made completely, with the hope that the members of the community just give up. This is so obvious and, what makes it worse (for the users), that it is also sound business sense on Ebays behalf to do this.

The very very very enlightened few, (The Lone Wolves), come on the community boards and write on threads. These threads are usually removed now.

Anyone that has valid questions or gets a little bit troublesome (read: gets too close to the truth) for Ebay, is eventually targeted by the boards 'front line of defence'. The Ebay employees that pose as (immune from sanctions) community members (& their, tag along, friends).

These are, of course, the staunch defenders of Ebay. The high volume, high profile posters that will promote the virtues of this wonderful site and dismiss and try to belittle anyone trying to help. (Just look at the recent spate of hi-jacks and the resulting fall-out, or the so called 'Knollers' that posted so many honest facts that they were actually targeted by Ebay staff & high volume Power Sellers under various disguises).

The big joke about these newly found defenders is that they are usually devoted shill bidders themselves that huddle around in groups.

Now Ebay are hiding bidders ID's.

What awaits us next?

To be honest, I cannot blame for Ebay doing it. Up to a point, I suppose that I would. .................'Up to a point'.

The advantage is that Ebay are faceless automatons that can ignore the biggest part of the complaints that they receive. It's not as if you can walk into a shop and talk to someone mono a mono. I have worked in the PR department of a multinational and have sat in on many seminars. I know how the system works.

There a some people that genuinely care about Ebay and its people.

It just seems that Ebays attitude is - 'so what if we lose a few customers here and there? The advertising campaign brings in millions more to replace them'.

Those few hundred customers would quickly be replaced by the new influx of 16 year olds that want to make their first million on Ebay, or people that just want to sell their tat, or motors that wont sell in the trader or at auction, etc. I've met too many already.................................................

The founding core of eBay has now vanished. I'm a 15+ year user of eBay.

90% of the time it is cheaper to find products elsewhere.

The yearly revisions of the "improved" search system is a total failure bringing forth approx 75% of false positives so you waste time.

The pages are getting bigger & bigger so you waste more time.

The search parameters have grown exponentially so it is SO difficult to find items without inputting so much useless information. This wastes even more time.

Searching for items that are "collection only" cannot be separated from all the other listings. So more time wasted.

Searching for larger items that sellers will post and NOT collection only, cannot be separated. So you have to search through THOUSANDS of items just to see a few dozen useful items.

I could go on & on here. But what's the point?

Those of you that remember eBay as it was - an honest auction site & not a shopping mall (that it now is) - will remember what I mean.

For every 4 hours you spend on eBay, 3 of them are wasted. Your life is finite - Don't waste it.

I did 100% of my online shopping on eBay, purchasing hundreds of items per month.
I now do approx 5% of it on there now, purchasing 3 or 4 items per week.

Try Ebid or a similar site. They are SO much better.

Please remember:

"To promote a safe trading environment for the Ebay community, we prohibit users from engaging in any type of unlawful activity on the Ebay web site and are dedicated to investigating such situations".

Yeah, right! As if.

Ebay Fees total rip off

Ebay is a good place to sell and buy don't get me wrong but they totally rip you off on the end of sale valuation fees. When I first started selling on here 10+ years ago they were fine. They are a total rip off now and have gone down hill big time. I sold something for £60 and after the fees etc etc I only ended up getting around £35 in the end. Absolutely ridiculous and I avoid selling by all costs now. You only have to read online about how disgusting their fees are and how they rip off the sellers.

Unacceptable Experience

Ebay has no seller protection that they claim to have for sellers, I am based in Uk I contacted eBay customer service after a buyer Nino Chkhaidze eBay username bg9085 based in Germany appallingly lied that item was not as described in order to get a full refund This buyer was given a full refund at the seller's expense despite informing eBay customer service that this buyer is dishonest and I the seller is out of pocket. I phoned eBay to complain and I was passed from one operator to another until I was told I can't appeal

BEWARE SELLERS!

As a market trader at Antique and Collectors fairs I have occasionally used Ebay to sell items I feel not suitable for these events. I reciently had to undergo surgery so felt using Ebay more extensively would continue to bring in some sort of income whilst recuperating. I sold an item receintly. The item was listed collection only. The buyer wanted it sent via courier. I told the buyer I would not be responsible for the delivery so he arranged his own courier. The item arrived smashed to bits! The buyer then reported the item to the Ebay resolution centre as not as described. Despite all the communications between myself and the buyer being through Ebay ( he even suggested we do business outside of Ebay) including him messaging me to tell me of the damage done by the courier Ebay in their wisdom gave him a full refund. So not only do I lose the money on the item, Ebay still charge me 10% for the pleasure plus paypal fees. They obviously didn't read any of the correspondances between us. Bearing in mind Ebay make money from sellers not buyers you would think they would at least read the facts.

Absolutely Not On

Well where to start.... Ebay, a place for hassle free selling & purchasing, that is only something one could wish for, their service is by modern day standards poor and unacceptable, now here's my experience and why I'm never going to use the service again...

Well yet again, where to start?....

I started using EBAY in the spring of 2013. To begin with EBAY was everything they said it to be, it was easy, simple & hassle free. What on earth happened to that.

After selling an OUYA a few months later for £60.00 the buyer simply claimed the item never arrived even though I was stood in the Post Office and sent it out just two days after the buyers purchase had been sent. He was insistent that he never got it... Case opened Ebay... Sides with the easy option, the buyer, I lose the case and have to pay £60.00 back for a claim that the item never arrived... "HAHAH" what a joke.

Here comes the second of many.. EBAY deducted my sellers fees earlier than they should have, which left a notebook computer which sold for £65.00 to then have a £45.00 deduction made... So in theory they were expecting me to make +£0 on the item as after VAT etc I was left with +£20.00 which would mean after sending the item 1st Class etc as stated I would have been left with + £0-£5.00 instead of around +£40.00 after postage.. again, that's not right, right?

A third issue which arose from using the service is that I was well and Truly scammed out of £108.00 for an Iphone 4 which was never sent.So what happened.. Yes that's right I had to wait over 2 weeks to get my money back, I had bills to pay etc.. They don't have a grasp on real life.. With this the seller used a fake email address and mobile number which Ebay told me to get in touch with the buyer by... again all the evidence stacked up against the seller.who did not send the item. After getting no where in hours spent in multiple online customer service chats etc, I got no where with them. The best answer in which I attained from them is that I had to wait a further 8 days after the case had been opened and evidence stacking against the seller, they called it a "Seller Grace Period" ... I can't say anymore that really cheesed me off.

A final of many examples of issues I have had with EBAY is that recently I tried to sell a new item and "A limit had been reached in that category".... Yet there wasn't a limit of 4 in months prior to this... Thanks Ebay, after getting in a chat with Ebay's online customer support I was left with.... A follow on, little action and the Agent I last was in contact with ended the conversation without any explanation or any help what so ever....

There is so much more & more negative aspects in which I could touch on,, but that would leave you weeks without sleep, but here are an obvious few.

Ebay Ebay Ebay, what has come to your customer support. There is no real way to get a proper resolve or response to anything even when we finally get in contact with you, via the online chat option etc. But wait... to even find the ability to go into an online customer service chat is nion impossible, problem regarding though, by this I mean, I had an issue with an item etc, I went through all of their menu's & found nothing I had to resolve this by finding a set of problems which I didn't have to find the chat option to eventually get a problem somewhat resolved...

Another issue which EBAY in my opinion struggles to grasp with, is that it is so easy for seller to become the victim, especially if a buyer lies about the item etc (For example) Ebay sticks with the easy option and forces the seller to pay-up even though there not in the wrong at all.

The thing that alarms me so much about EBAY, is that if you get in a case, the time it takes to get a resolve is appalling, the lack of help and resolve is also appalling, and it is so easy to get a case opened up and issues to arise. Their linking with Paypal is.... a total joke. You get involved in a case Paypal but you in a negative balance, even if you win in the end, You cant use Paypal unless you put more money in than the red which is.. yet again for people trying to make a living is ....sub-standard & It feels like EBAY are not ethical at all & sympathetic when it comes to the average Ebay user.. You get in a situation, they take their jolly time to give you a somewhat ok reply.

I will never use EBAY again after the current issues get resolved. I'm appalled at their service, their lack of customer service and general support. Yes they can help some times and Kudos to them on the rare time well done, it would have been a 3* star review if my experience wasn't enthralled with problem after problem...
