items being falsely advertised. the system sucks so badly i haven't been able to contact ebay at all. there are still ads up but i can't even contact them to let them know. not only would the product not function as it is addvertised shipping info is misleading. usa phone number and listed as instock. now i find out it shipped from china and will take up to 70 days to reach me. ebay makes it impossable to do anything about it.. i'm done with ebay and will cancel my paypal account
I decided to sell for the first time. My items were sent within the time frame, yet the recipient emailed and complained that they did not receive the item, yet It was in the time frame to be sent out not delivered. Straight away I phoned EBAY, just to be told there is a note and wait and see. well i emailed them phoned them (costs money) to tell them I believe it was an untrustworthy buyer. My voice was ignored. Completely pushed aside. I am now out of pocket and I have not used EBAY or ever will. Customer service does not exist.
A user for many years eBay has made me a lot of money but todays system is too complex and full of bugs, add to that the need for you to allow buyers to use PayPal at YOUR COST and you have a system that has become almost worthless to me. Time is money and if the system involves too much time and too many rules and regulations then the good guys leave and the operators and scammers win. We need more competition in the auction market and thankfully in the UK we have better options and I wont miss eBay when I shut down my account in a few weeks. To the new and uninitiated I strongly advise just using the FREE sales websites, they are growing and work well and its FREE, Gumtree and Friday Ad in the UK work well for me.
Ebay has become such a huge disappointment, they make it so hard to make money. They charge ridiculous final value fees, and then have the audacity to charge the seller for the paypal transaction once the buyer pays. This is made even more messed up when you realize the ebay owns paypal. They dont allow sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers anymore, even if the buyer is responsible for a failed transaction. With any luck the will be shut down and maybe craigslist can have auctions. Since they arent just out to rip sellers off. I recently sold a $320 item on ebay. I had $32 taken out for a final value fee 10% are you serious it was up for 1/2 of a day, and then they charge me $10 for the paypal transaction so I end up with $278 when its all said and done. The are such crooks and the fees have only increased. Please someone make a sight for the people, both sellers and buyers...Death to Ebay
When Ebay started out it was a fair and trusted site where honest and genuine people bought and sold items in a friendly way and left each other true and honest feedback and it worked well..!!!
Now with Ebay's New Rules and Restrictions it has become an absolute paradise for fraudsters and conmen.
Buyer are simply telling Ebay that they have not received the item they paid for, even when the seller can prove it was received with tracking numbers, Ebay always take the side of the Buyer. Ebay will give the buyer a full refund (including the postage costs) and the seller can do nothing about it. Ebay will go over the sellers head and take the money directly from your Paypal account and refund the Buyer. The buyer can then even leave you a negative feedback which in turn leads to your account being suspended and all because of fraudsters.... When this happens don't even think about contacting the customer service as they will tell you that there is nothing they can do as the decision has already been made on the case.....It has become an absolute joke.!!!
TO TOP IT OFF.... Ebay also state in their rules that sellers is not allowed make any profit on postage fees and yet they now take a 10% fee from YOUR postage costs and put it in their pocket.!!! How HYPOCRITICAL is that.????
They have have become so blind with greed that they have forgot to look after the people who have made Ebay the successful company it has become today (THE SELLERS)..!!!
If the rules do not change to help the seller, then sellers will soon become obsolete and that will be the end of Ebay..!!
I sell all unwanted balls of wool I have left over from knitting and unwanted fabric if I have large pieces left over from sewing. I don't make profit on postage however people who buy seem to think that £2.60 which is the cheapest royal mail do for small packets is too expensive? I have had a few accounts to date and each gets limitations on for selling because my postage price rating gets low. It is ridiculous! Plus I only sell the wool and fabric at 99p start price the buyer knows what they are paying for. Ebay need to fix this, customer feedback is important but their system allows customers to put false feedback or inappropriate feedback (such as with postage) and seller becomes helpless at this. On top of which they stop the seller from being able sell. It is a totally unfair system. I have better luck on selling at other sites like etsy, gumtree and preloved to name a few. I give them 0 stars for seller side of things.
However when buying you can buy with a piece of mind when buying within the UK. Yet when buying more expensive products such as phones from china etc things are very difficult and somewhat unfair. China sellers will not pay return postage even when the product you buy is received as faulty when you open the box, they can send you a faulty item on purpose and the buyer will be the one who has to pay postage. When you do decide to return product even when it costs a bomb to send back to china all they do is either refund you or wait another month to receive another faulty product.
eBay are great to their buyers, but the sellers can sometimes be ignored. I have had good experienced (probably because I'm a buyer!). They need to work on how they sometimes treat the sellers, who have put a huge amount of time into eBay.
Ebay unfortunately is always on the side of the buyer. I have just had a buyer saying they have not received an item I have sent out and even though I can supply proof of postage EBay are still giving all of the money back to the buyer. How is this fair, I am so annoyed. Basically you can buy anything from eBay say you haven't received it then get your money back, disgusting. Do not use.
I had my account suspended because they thought I had two accounts. I only advertised a sofa having never sold anything on ebay before. It didn't sell and then I got suspended for breaching their selling regulations. I tried to rectify it with customer services via live chat but like everyone else I got an automated response and then when I went to write an answer the operator told me there is nothing he or I can do and he terminated the chat? The chat was over within 15 seconds. I thought customer service were there to help resolve issues but apparently not.
I have never experienced such a bad customer support team they had suspended my account for £6 then when they transferred me through to a different company to pay they hadn't received my case so eBay had lied. When I called them back they stated they did not accept payments them selves, how can they not accept payments if they suspend people's accounts. I cannot access my account and am really angry as now I can't pay in any way so I will never be able to access my eBay account. I was on the phone for over 2 hours so now not only is my phone bill going to be mega high I still haven't paid my fees of £6. I have never experienced such bad customer help I will not be contacting ever again. I recommend not to call them they are useless and no help what so ever. More sense out of a brick wall!
I NEVER experimented a problem with ebay as a buyer :) I bought like 500 items on this site since 2008 and it makes me really happy because I'm from Reunion Island and we can't find US/UK brands in here , so thank you all on ebay :)
Ive been buying on ebay for a while and been extremely happy with the deals.
But my recent selling experience was bad enough to write a review .
Main reason I would give ebay a negative review is because of the fees. No lie 11% of all money made from eBay has been paid to ebay in fees. I have had 3 people commit to purchase and they never paid and I ended up having to pay fees because these people. Not to mention paypal has a fee also.
So overall if you are trying to clear out your house go ahead and sell on ebay. If you want to make a decent profit you better be buying your product at least 60% below retail.
So basically your paying a good chunk of your profit to compete with 1000s of other listings. Im not sure what the upkeep is of ebay but im positive they are making a lot more than whatever it costs. It wont be long until another reasonable auction site is made
I have been buying & selling on Ebay since 2000 so 14 years, in this time I have witnessed Ebay's slow decline in customer care & their ever increasing greed. If you are looking for a bargain then Ebay is great & should things go wrong then you are fully protected & guaranteed to get your money back. If you are selling on Ebay though be warned, Ebay is a minefield as sellers are left wide open to fraudsters & feedback abuse as Ebay take the buyers side no matter what the circumstances may be. Ebay allow buyers to leave good, neutral & negative feedback for each item they purchase yet the seller can only leave positive feedback for a buyer which leaves sellers wide open to feedback abuse & blackmail. Also Ebay selling fees have reached the point where it simply isn't woth selling any more as they charge 10% selling fees & now even charge 10% commission on postage costs which is simply scandalous! Then when you sell an item you have to offer PayPal as a payment method which is fine but they also take a commission & guess what, Paypal is owned by Ebay so altogether with listing fees you are looking at a total of 15% commission on any item you sell which is simply extortionate & shows Ebay's true greed! I just hope another auction site comes along soon to rival Ebay as they currently dominate the market & so seem to think they can charge as much as they like leaving us pure honest ebay sellers well out of pocket. To sumarise, if you are buying on Ebay then I'd give 4 stars but if you are selling then I'd give just 1 star & so a combined total of 2 stars overall.
As both a buyer and a seller on eBay, I am going to give an average review for the Buying aspect of eBay. Often being able to find anything and everything on this website, I love treating myself to a little secondhand bargain. Buying on this website is as easy as can be; and i find it mostly goes without a hitch. Business sellers on eBay are particularly good at customer service and fast dispatch. I feel very safe when buying on here because I know if I am not happy I can get a refund ( which I haven't had to yet)
However, as a private seller of things I have no use for anymore I am often crippled by the fees. I am another seller on eBay annoyed at how eBay now charge fees on postage?! So now, I have to up my postage so I don't make a loss. I often dread to look at my account balance near the end of the month because I know my eyebrows go up every time I check. I am a seller who stumbles over my feet to give excellent customer service; and sometimes, unfortunately excellent is not enough and I am penalized. eBay should learn how to reward the sellers that makes the business they are running.
I have never had such a massive problem I needed to contact customer services about so I can't comment on their effectiveness.
