I recently bought a used Apple iMac desktop computer as relying on any of the latest high-end iMac models for sale on the Apple shop would have been over-kill for the purposes for which I intended to use the product.
The seller offered a £20 postage fee whereby he would dispatch the order by Parcel Force 48 (a 2 day dispatch service) 1 day after cleared payment. I won the item on the 27th of July and paid for it on the same day so my anticipation was that the item would be dispatched on the 29th of July. How wrong was I??!!
After contacting the seller several times via email and after he completely ignored my eBay dispute case that I opened against him in the eBay resolution centre, I decided to phone him on the 10th of August asking where on earth the item was to which he replied it is "NO LONGER AVAILABLE" and that he would refund me on the 11th of August.
It is now the 12th of August, he has not been in-touch and no refund has been given.
My question is this: if he knew it was no longer available why didn't he un-wield his greedy mitts from the money I paid? Why didn't he communicate? There was over 7 day window of opportunity for him to inform me that the iMac had "vanished", or perhaps, hadn't existed at all!! Heck, the picture of the iMac could have been a googled iMac!
eBay is full of distrustful scammers that do not have the customer's best interests at heart!
The seller's username is: christopher.w.davenport

It won't come as a surprise to most of you but Ebay only care about one thing and that is making money!!
They say they have rules to protect people but when it comes to it they simply DO NOT care.
My main problem was in a nutshell :
1. I sold an item on ebay with UK P&P
2. Buyer asked me to post to Poland which was fine as I said on the listing I would quote for International postage if they wanted it
3. Buyer then paid for item with UK P&P and told me that should be sufficient!
4. Cost to Poland was way more than the UK P&P charges so I sent invoice for adjusted amount
5. Buyer calls me a thief via email
6. I don't respond simply refund him in full immediately
7. I then find defamatory negative feedback on my account
8. I contact Ebay saying I refunded in full and in fact he broke Ebay rules by asking me to post to a different address than on his account
9. Ebay say they can't do anything!!!
10. I point out no transaction has taken place and the only person who has done anything was me when I took the parcel up the Post Office for a quote
11. I ask why he can leave me negative feedback for getting a full refund but I can't leave feedback for him
12. They say write to customer help with title 'COMPLAINT'
13. I write a long complaint
14. A week later after no response I write again
15. A week later I write AGAIN for the attention of the MD
16. I eventually receive a response which doesn't make sense (i.e. spelling and grammar are practically incoherent!) except that they can't remove the feedback!
YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF A COMPANY WHO SAYS ONE THING AND DOES ANOTHER. A TOTAL & UTTER DISGRACE
I SHOULD IMAGINE THE BUYERS HAVE AS LITTLE PROTECTION AS THE SELLERS

They charge 10% fees on final value fee, now they take 10% of postage, they do own paypal which takes 4% off the back, i.e. final value & postage total take by e-bay 22% thieving greedy bastards. God forbid you pay a listing fee, all above are without a listing fee, add that and you will be upto 27% to 30%. Absolute disgrace. Just how greedy can a monster get!!!!!!!!
I am mainly a buyer, but occasionally sell things. I have brought a fake charger before but did return and they need to look out for scams to because I don't think ebay cares. Selling is quite easy and quick. Just be careful. Also do not buy replacement phone/tablet glass screen because they are dangerous.
Ebay don't seem to give a dam about sellers (Who make them their money). I sold my Xbox 360 with 50+ games and accessories on ebay. I sent it tracked & signed to the winning bidder.
I checked the tracking info and it was delivered and signed for and the signature matched up with the buyers second name. Great nice and smooth transaction? NOT!
The buyer opened a dispute saying he did not receive the item. Despite me telling ebay 10 times that he did receive it and me showing them it was tracked and signed and the signature matched up with his second name they decided to give him a refund putting me into the red.
I now have to pay for the listing fees, final values fees, paypal fees, posting and packaging fees and some scammer has just bagged them self a free Xbox 360 with 50+ games!
This is a ongoing scam on ebay. Don't believe me?

I and quite a few others fell foul of a particularly nasty buyer who used his knowledge of e-Bays new feedback system to manipulate his own score while affectively ruining ours.
e-Bay couldn't care less & meet any letters with the same stock letters of reply.
one of the stock letters says "when more than one complaint is received the buyer is suspended" I know full well that they have received many more than one complaint against this character, yet he is allowed to continue trading.
bye bye e-Bay, I think you stink.
I have ordered a few times on ebay.co.uk. it´s really cheap, I have no complaints at all. Shipping time is MAX a week to Denmark. One time I bought a wrist watch with multifunction, well, is was described that was a multifunction, but when I received it, it was not, it was only for decoration. I wrote to the seller and at the same day he made a full refund and he wrote that I could keep the watch as an apology, so that was really great.
AAAmazon is where you should shop, eBBBBay is nothing but eBBBBag of tricks...even their modus operandi is stolen.....from those clochards who joggle three empty matchboxes on the street, taunting people to guess where the ball is, pretending that they "don't know each other", just like ebay is "independent" from their "sellers" and "couriers" (all dirty thieves "working" together).
they rip you off with fees never agree with you they own pay pal so they bled you dry when you sell you must except pay pal so they get fees plus fees of money so they get two lots if you argue you cant win my fees were 300 a month some one comes up order something small they will refund them and you lose you money my advise is use amazon or e bid roll on when eBay lose they customers . bunch of complete idiots who don't care about there customers i hope the government get them and tax them to death horrible firm who dont give a toss .
Yet again for the third occasion with buying a mobile phone and being scammed ebay would rather keep there scammer seller happy than to resolve the issue and refund the buyer who is legally entitled to there money back. This is my experience today. Called ebay and after a 50 min conversation and managers input was transferred to paypal. Ebay when conducting Paypal`s automated telephone service and using the words "Agent" at every request eventually gets you through to Paypal who after a lengthy conversation tell you that it is Ebays responsibility as they are holding onto the funds and pass you back to Ebay refusing to refund despite the fact that Ebays seller misleads and misleads the buyer and doesn't send the goods.Ebay would rather loose a customer who has 100% feedback than deal with a scammer on there site. In fact if ebay had reacted and suspended a sellers account when this happened to me back in December with an Iphone 5 when I first reported similar activity many other customers would not have been scammed. I certainly will get the pleasure of going back to the high street and shopping. The minimal discount offered by shopping on ebay does not warrant the aggravation. Here are some other occasions - Scammed buying a Pentium 4 Processor. Scammed buying a USB pen. Scammed buying a Samsung Galaxy 4 on two separate occasions. Scammed buying IPhone 5. Keep up the good work ebay
With thousands of positive feedbacks a few buyers said the item was not as i described. I refunded them in full. Nevertheless this was enough for eBay to ban me as a seller for ever! There was no offer of checking why this might have been the case. Their chat person just said, they are the rules, there is no appeal. No further communication, so I am ending the call. Seems to me that eBay doesn't practice what it preaches on customer service. So avoid selling on there if you value your business. It could disappear in an wink.
Feedback seems to count for nothing these days and they base everything on a few detailed seller ratings without actually allowing you to see what they are. So much for openness and fairness - not eslay! AVOID.

I have just had my eBay status downgraded all because my sister who lives 40 miles away from me has had her account frozen. She had accessed her account on my computer in the past, This has lead eBay to link the accounts and penalise me. I have today closed my account and will no longer do any business with E=eBay of ebay paypal.
I thought eBay is a good place you can do your business from home or shop but this is not true at all. They only thing focus their fees and in eBay many field remain in their control so they could punish you at any time. There are no proper justification so your side you are own. BEWARE!!!eBay a Monster!!!!
I lucky didn't buy from ebay because too risk could scam or cheated or fake items.
I saw mobile Sony Xperia Z on ebay site too cheap beware!! don't buy from ebay could give fake item or steal money not arrive item, if want buy mobile from O2 or Amazon or Phones 4 U & best buy any electricals on Amazon.
Ebay - no star rating & no comments & more risk
Amazon - have star rating & comments & no risk
EBAY has gotten so greedy and power hungry, that they allow buyers to be scammed if the seller makes them big bucks in power seller sales. I received some knock off perfume and contacted the seller who, along with ebay, demands I pay for return shipping. Sellers can scam buyers and trust that the majority will not pay out of pocket to return, and the seller and EBAY scores at your expense. I even left negative feedback for seller and ebay removed it because I also mentioned EBAY'S failed Buyer Protection in demanding scammed buyers pay to return shipping...getting burned by the seller first, and then by ebay. Insult to injury. SHAME ON EBAY. I did pay to return it with tracking, for the principle of it all, BUT ebay removed the feedback. How can we trust feedback when ordering from sellers if ebay removes honest and helpful issues with 'power sellers"....it's all about money and a very dishonest place to buy ;0( Didn't use to be this way.
Took the ridiculous fees strait out of my banks I rang and spoke and they told me it would take 30 days to be refunded. I wasn't happy as i work for an on-line fashion company myself so i know exactly how easy it is to issue a refund. To take the Mick even more after 45 days i rang as i wanted to purchase something but am unwilling unless i am refunded only to be told to wait another 30 days. The Muppet on the phone told me the billing department have no telephone line... Well I know for a FACT that either the billing 'department' is sat in the same office as them or is them. We tell customers all the time that they have just rang a reception line so I KNOW the bullshit they're coming out with. Paypal refunds take a click of a button.. fair enough they may have a back log but 30 days is just ridiculous!!!... I WANT MY MONEY BACK TODAY OR I WILL BE TAKING YOU TO A SMALL CLAIMS COURT!!!! FSA AND TRADING STANDARDS ARE ALL TO FAMILIAR WITH ME..
Sorry guys, i use to play football with the guys at park in Richmond ))) but i will move out from Ebay, this last 2 years Ebay became really bad service....i move to play with Amazon guys..
1- Again and again. Guys....is not possible that you allow work with Parcel Force to sellers!!....please ....generate problems form the beginning of the order!!!!!
2- Before was easy to handle a issue with a seller. now is a infinite ping pong of emails across.........booohhh
3 - Is acceptable that you now protect the buyer, but there is no faster money back process.
4- The customer service became like a answer Machine for Spam.... just recommendations...etc.
5- No way...why so much sellers from China, and they is not advise correctly about 2 months of delivery terms?? Again as ParcelForce.....EBAY MUST AWARE the people in more about that.
Sorry guys...i have more of 839 starts
I afraid that i will not pass the 1000.
The fees on Ebay are a joke, in fact in todays market place where profit margins have plummeted , Ebay often makes more out of a sale than the actual person doing all the work , ie the Seller!
low cost items cost 40p to list, then you get hit with the 10% final value fee and then Paypal want to take you to the cleaners as well.
Ive got a feeling eBid could soon be in a position to take on Ebay in a serious way, with much fairer Fees for the sellers and easy listing of items including 5 Stores, no more trawling throw a massive page of options designed to take even more money out of your pocket like on Ebay.
i`ll be doing all my business there from now on, i suggest others take a look as you may be surprised at how much more money can be made by avoiding Ebay`s high Listing and final value fees.
I have used E-Bay for a little over 14 years and in the beginning it was a great way to sell. Now for some reason they are all for the buyer and have spit in the eye of the seller, the ones that make them their money. We sellers can no longer leave negative feed back even when it is deserving. Case(s) in point. I have had 3 in the last month, not for what I have done wrong but for the buyers sheer lack of being able to use e-bay and the tools of e-bay. I sold a gift card, mail it, posted the tracking number and did what I was supposed to do only to have the woman that won it use it, then file a claim saying "item not as described". She had a full refund, got $120 of free stuff and never sent the card back to me. E-bays response "nothing we can do". Typical!! I sold a jacket to a buyer, had to file a non-paying bidder report to get paid, 6 days later, payment finally received. Posted tracking number mailed jacket, customer had in 2 days. Left negative feed back stating "unresponsive" but never looked at his purchased items on their sight to find tracking number. E-bays response "nothing we can do". Again typical E-bay pre-programed response. The third negative response....sold a diamond ring to a buyer, I immediately e-mailed them as to when I may expect payment, again NO RESPONCE from buyer. I sent 4 e-mails in 4 days, no response. I contacted another buyer for a second chance offer, they accepted. before I sold ring to them I contacted first buyer with a "cancel bid". they immediately responded and cancel the transaction. Three days later, I get negative feed back for an auction they want to cancel. Again E-bays response "nothing we can do because that's how that buyer felt" BOTTOM LINE, E-BAY HAS TURNED INTO AN I DON'T CARE COMPANY AND IS OUT FOR THE TOTAL PROFIT AND IS SCREWING THE SELLERS THAT MAKE THEM THEIR PROFITS. E-BAY HAS NO PROBLEM GETTING MONEY FOR YOU, THE SELLLER, THEY JUST TAKE IT. THEY HAVE NO CONCERN ABOUT RIGHT OR WRONG JUST PROFIT. THANKS FOR PUTTING YOUR COMPANY IN THE PHILIPENES AND ELSEWHERE, WHERE THEY CAN GIVE A STANDARD PRE-PROGRAMED ANSWER.

HAVE NEVER EVER KNOWN A COMPANY LIKE EBAY WHO CIRCUMNAVIGATE UK LAW BY BASING THEIR ADMIN IN DUBLIN & FINANCES IN LUXEMBORG BY DOING THIS THEY AVOID THE MONOPOLIES COMMISSION SO THEY HAVE A ALMOST TOTAL DOMINATION OF THE UK AUCTION MARKET SO THEY JUST BASICALLY DO WHATEVER THEY WANT AS THEY REALISTICALLY KNOW YOU HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO GO THE GOVERMENT NEED TO STOP EBAY ASAP !!
I bought a fake leather jacket on eBay advertised as a leather jacket. I had to return the item back by tracked post, which was very expensive, in order to get a refund. eBay refused to reimburse me, the consumer, the cost of return postage because it is not covered by their 'buyer protection policy'. As I had to pay the cost of return postage I only got back 13% of what I originally paid for the item!
As consumers have to pay the cost of returning an item even when they have been clearly cheated by a buyer selling something which was obviously not as described, it means that in real terms there is no consumer protection on eBay whose argument was that a local store would not pay for the cost of travel to return an item. However, a consumer can physically examine an item at a local store which would most likely be within walking distance with very little transport cost involved!
I use ebay a lot and generally enjoy buying and selling with them. I do however take issue with the limits they put on sellers postage costs - some of the price thresholds do not cover the delivery offered e.g. recorded delivery of an item at a certain size / weight and therefore mean that the additional p&p eats into the sale price of the item. I raised this issue with ebay directly sometime ago, only to be told to raise my starting price to compensate - no coincidence that means my listing fee goes up and the overall increased sale price means more money to ebay!

As a long time ebay member, I'm very disappointed with their customer service for sellers, everything is biased towards the buyer which leaves you stuck in a dispute and now I've been stung I'll never sell on ebay again!
eBay's policy protects buyers over sellers which is fine but when you consider the fact that the buyer is a scammer, non-payer, etc and the seller is a trusted PowerSeller then the whole policy becomes flawed.
I have a PowerSeller account and a personal account and both were 100% positive until one member decided to leave a negative score after asking me for more items for free! Unfortunately eBay will do nothing about this unless the buyer has actually stated that he is going to leave negative feedback if he doesn't get what he wants. So here is an easy way you can extort honest sellers 'till your heart's content.
The buyer in question actually had comments left on his feedback (from business sellers. 100% feedback sellers, etc) that were negative and warning other members about him. Unfortunately, if he buys from you on a BuyItNow listing then he can do what he likes to your feedback and there is not much you can do to stop this. His actual feedback score is 100% - because you are not allowed to leave a negative or even a neutral score.
I am unable to warn you of who this buyer is as I will be breaching policy.
Everytime I order with ebay, there is satisfaction of 90% with the purchase but somewhere somethings are lacking. Sellers are good, buyers are also fine. You just need to understand that some or the other way you will be loosing money either by selling the item or by buying it. It doesn't have competitive prices but you should search other companies and websites before buying from ebay. You will have better experience from several online stores.
I have recently decided to close my account and never use any ebay-related again. They have no sense of fairness when it comes to buyers being duped or tricked out of their money by cruel sellers. I was duped out of $200 dollars for a phone that was not as described, they decided not to refund my money probably because they didn't want to deal with having to pay me back first. I even offered to send pictures of the damaged phone and they refused to see it. How do you make a fair decision on a case without examining all of the evidence? If you respect yourself and work HARD for your money, I would advice that you stay off of ebay!

I bought an iPhone from eBay for my wife a couple of months ago from an eBay seller based in the UK.
After paying up, he sent an e-mail to me the next day saying his girlfriend dropped the phone in the snow (it was in February) and it broke, so he refunded me in full.
9 days later PayPal wrote to me saying he had no money in his account (he had no credit card backup) so took the money back. It was about £475.
I contacted the seller, who apologised, and put through a refund again. I was suspicious, but couldn't push to eBay as the "refund" was in the system again. Guess what, this seller was a scam artist and again he bounced the PayPal payment again. So, so far, he'd kept my money for over 18 days. He again said it was a problem and it was all eBay's fault, so again I started a complaint through eBay, knowing that eBay won't get involved for 10 days, and I knew he would bounce the payment again after 9 days!
So, what to do? You can't e-mail eBay. So, instead I tweeted a message to both eBay and @AskPayPal, complaining about the situation and that their customer service was awful. I did this on Friday evening at about 7pm.
At 11pm, I received an e-mail from "Frank" at PayPal telling me that they had refunded me in full, and would tell eBay to close the claim.
I looked on eBay the next day, and the claim had been closed, and the dodgy seller was no longer an eBay member.
So, if you get stuck, use Twitter. You won't regret it!
I have used e bay for many years but recent transactions as a buyer and seller have become increasingly difficult. The phone centre in The Philippines does not help as they are there to stone wall and increase phone bills only as they cannot answer even the simplest question. I sold an item which was returned after a month by the purchaser and now e bay have started what they call recovery but I call theft as they say they are keeping the commission and advert fee as well. A company called IQOR approached me with the softly, softly and now I have received the threat of legal action from GPB Solicitors (the last two companies must be desperate for work to do the dirty for e bay). DO NOT USE ebay IT WILL ONLY LEAD TO STRESS.
Needed to make some extra money so decided to sell a few things that I did not need clothes etc. I got fed up in the end as I was selling things but a lot of the buyers bid and then never pay or even have the decency to contact you. Ebay just tell you to open a non payment dispute after 4 days and the buyers gets a strike but you cannot see the strike nor can you leave a negative and yet buyers are allowed to leave you a negative even though they haven't paid. Ebay do nothing about these people. I know its not ebay fault if they do not pay but ebay should do more about them. Allow sellers to leave negs for those who do not pay to warn other sellers. There is nothing on a buyers feedback to warn sellers. You speak to customer services and they just spout a load of rubbish and its like talking to a Robot. Ebay basically are not interested as long as they get their fees which are high especially when you have to pay to list then pay again when you have sold it and then you have to pay paypal and by the time you have finished you have made about 50p profit (if you are lucky) Its ok for the big business's who are selling hundreds a day but it no good for the small seller. I now go to a car boot sale and have made far more money from it than I ever did on ebay. Bigger items I sell on Gumtree & Preloved. So unless you are a big business and can sell high value items, then I would avoid ebay and look elsewhere to sell your items.
We are a premium UK seller on Ebay since 2009 & our Co established since 1991.
We understand that customer service is paramount, especially during the current economic climate.
However, Ebay simply do not care about their customers !!
During March 13 our staff learned that our entire shop & items had been deleted.
It took Ebay several days to resolve the technical issues, to finally re-list all our items with different product references & to our astonishment we had lost ALL our watchers built up since 2009.
NO EXPLANATION, NO APOLOGY & MORE IMPORTANTLY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE......
We requested on no less that seven (7) occasions, for a senior account manager to call to discuss our account & several weeks later, we are still waiting.
EBAY A PIECE OF ADVICE - 'PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH' or you will lose customers & loyalty.
I have never bought from eBay. I was hoping to buy a BMW x5. Next day I received an email from Danielle moe who said to me she is selling an x5 and has an account with eBay. But her advert was on auto trader and gumtree. So she assured me that I will receive my item in next 48hours which is today. I made a payment to a bank via chaps and got an email from eBay saying they have received the payment. I am still waiting for my x5 to come which I very much doubt will come. I have emailed customer support so many times where my car is and they don't reply back to you plus they don't have a phone number that they can help us with so it's all a scam I have lost out on a lot of money people don't ever buy from eBay again what ebay is doing they are stealing from their own customers 1 by 1 DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY AGAIN
I have been with Ebay for years and learned to put up with their odd little annoyances because in the main, I rather like it, but they have finally gone too far.
I logged on today to find the landing page suddenly filled with large images of - as far as I can gather - things I 'might like' based on past searches. Not just the usual strip at the side of the page, but totally filling it. I found it hugely intrusive - it really is in your face - and totally unhelpful. I don't actually need any help. I know what I want and am perfectly capable of searching for it. I am neither an idiot nor a six-year-old child.
I searched for some way of switching the 'feature' off, but there is none. Invited to 'edit' these 'suggestions', I typed in words to the effect that I wished it to go away. I was told that no suggestions matching my request had been found and the pictures disappeared. Peace at last! But when I returned to ebay later on I was met with the same bleeping thing all over again.
I will now spend my afternoon off searching for a reasonable alternative to ebay. If this rubbish doesn't disappear within a week I will close my account for good. I've rated them two stars just for this experience (normally I'd give them a 4). I don't believe there is any malicious intent, just a bad, mad and ill-considered idea.
