BEWARE SELLERS!

As a market trader at Antique and Collectors fairs I have occasionally used Ebay to sell items I feel not suitable for these events. I reciently had to undergo surgery so felt using Ebay more extensively would continue to bring in some sort of income whilst recuperating. I sold an item receintly. The item was listed collection only. The buyer wanted it sent via courier. I told the buyer I would not be responsible for the delivery so he arranged his own courier. The item arrived smashed to bits! The buyer then reported the item to the Ebay resolution centre as not as described. Despite all the communications between myself and the buyer being through Ebay ( he even suggested we do business outside of Ebay) including him messaging me to tell me of the damage done by the courier Ebay in their wisdom gave him a full refund. So not only do I lose the money on the item, Ebay still charge me 10% for the pleasure plus paypal fees. They obviously didn't read any of the correspondances between us. Bearing in mind Ebay make money from sellers not buyers you would think they would at least read the facts.

Absolutely Not On

Well where to start.... Ebay, a place for hassle free selling & purchasing, that is only something one could wish for, their service is by modern day standards poor and unacceptable, now here's my experience and why I'm never going to use the service again...

Well yet again, where to start?....

I started using EBAY in the spring of 2013. To begin with EBAY was everything they said it to be, it was easy, simple & hassle free. What on earth happened to that.

After selling an OUYA a few months later for £60.00 the buyer simply claimed the item never arrived even though I was stood in the Post Office and sent it out just two days after the buyers purchase had been sent. He was insistent that he never got it... Case opened Ebay... Sides with the easy option, the buyer, I lose the case and have to pay £60.00 back for a claim that the item never arrived... "HAHAH" what a joke.

Here comes the second of many.. EBAY deducted my sellers fees earlier than they should have, which left a notebook computer which sold for £65.00 to then have a £45.00 deduction made... So in theory they were expecting me to make +£0 on the item as after VAT etc I was left with +£20.00 which would mean after sending the item 1st Class etc as stated I would have been left with + £0-£5.00 instead of around +£40.00 after postage.. again, that's not right, right?

A third issue which arose from using the service is that I was well and Truly scammed out of £108.00 for an Iphone 4 which was never sent.So what happened.. Yes that's right I had to wait over 2 weeks to get my money back, I had bills to pay etc.. They don't have a grasp on real life.. With this the seller used a fake email address and mobile number which Ebay told me to get in touch with the buyer by... again all the evidence stacked up against the seller.who did not send the item. After getting no where in hours spent in multiple online customer service chats etc, I got no where with them. The best answer in which I attained from them is that I had to wait a further 8 days after the case had been opened and evidence stacking against the seller, they called it a "Seller Grace Period" ... I can't say anymore that really cheesed me off.

A final of many examples of issues I have had with EBAY is that recently I tried to sell a new item and "A limit had been reached in that category".... Yet there wasn't a limit of 4 in months prior to this... Thanks Ebay, after getting in a chat with Ebay's online customer support I was left with.... A follow on, little action and the Agent I last was in contact with ended the conversation without any explanation or any help what so ever....

There is so much more & more negative aspects in which I could touch on,, but that would leave you weeks without sleep, but here are an obvious few.

Ebay Ebay Ebay, what has come to your customer support. There is no real way to get a proper resolve or response to anything even when we finally get in contact with you, via the online chat option etc. But wait... to even find the ability to go into an online customer service chat is nion impossible, problem regarding though, by this I mean, I had an issue with an item etc, I went through all of their menu's & found nothing I had to resolve this by finding a set of problems which I didn't have to find the chat option to eventually get a problem somewhat resolved...

Another issue which EBAY in my opinion struggles to grasp with, is that it is so easy for seller to become the victim, especially if a buyer lies about the item etc (For example) Ebay sticks with the easy option and forces the seller to pay-up even though there not in the wrong at all.

The thing that alarms me so much about EBAY, is that if you get in a case, the time it takes to get a resolve is appalling, the lack of help and resolve is also appalling, and it is so easy to get a case opened up and issues to arise. Their linking with Paypal is.... a total joke. You get involved in a case Paypal but you in a negative balance, even if you win in the end, You cant use Paypal unless you put more money in than the red which is.. yet again for people trying to make a living is ....sub-standard & It feels like EBAY are not ethical at all & sympathetic when it comes to the average Ebay user.. You get in a situation, they take their jolly time to give you a somewhat ok reply.

I will never use EBAY again after the current issues get resolved. I'm appalled at their service, their lack of customer service and general support. Yes they can help some times and Kudos to them on the rare time well done, it would have been a 3* star review if my experience wasn't enthralled with problem after problem...

EBay is rude, worst company for sellers, it is a online flea market, good sellers are removed for mass produced walmart type garbage!

How many people have had their account restricted after complaining about a power seller or china seller?
We have found some frightening things out about ebay and are moving to other locations to sell. This is what happened: About 6 mos ago I purchased 8 silver bracelets under my personal ebay account for my daughter's bridal shower gifts. I gave one to my brand new mother-in-law, I also just married. Even though they were all stamped .925 they were fake. One of the gift receivers gracefully told me as their dad happened to be a jeweler! Yikes! They looked real to me and were advertised to be 100% solid silver. I was so in shock and felt horrible. I complained. At the time I was not selling anything under my account, just buying things. I seen the seller was selling 2400 a day! I figured I better get the bracelets they are so popular and will sell out!! Well, they were not real. I tried to tell eBay and thought I was being a good samaritan. It did not pay for me to turn in those large mass silver sellers selling fake silver. I woke up one morning and my account was restricted for ever! I had been on ebay for over 15 years!! Well, it gets better.. months later...my husband and I made a purchase (on my husbands eBay account that he had before we were even married) and it was not a good one. It was a beautiful designer dress for my daughters wedding. I received it and it was a cheap copy from another country.I was very upset and wanted to return it to the seller. I did but was out my shipping of $18 both ways and they advertised they were from South Carolina. My husband and I do not have the same name due to my profession and , no paypal connection no real financial connection to me at this point at all.. but.eBay is cutting his account off too..for being related to me.......they really give no good reason just that he is connected to a restricted account and once that account has resolved its issues his will be fine. I tried to resolve the issues and the cusomer service reps say "WE ARE NOT A FACE TO FACE COMPANY" WE ARE NOT A FACE TO FACE COMPANY" "ANY ONE WITH THE SAME ADDRESS, IP, OR EVEN SAME FINGERPRINT AS YOU WILL GET RESTRICTED FOREVER" It gets better, what about my kids in college and their kids or anyone who just logs into this computer or has the same address? "YES, WE ARE NOT A FACE TO FACE COMPANY, THEY WILL BE RESTRICTED, too." ...I said wow! do we live in Russia? this is just crazy! I mean why? I asked her to please disconnect my account, remove all my account information and asked if I could send in a letter removing my information. I pleaded, please do not penalize my family or my children or anyone who may be related to me. It is just not fair. I said what ever i did I will take blame. She not only told me "no" she said my information "would forever be in eBay." So, that is that! Wow to infinity wow! I hope someone reads this and has a lot of money to give the small mom and pops like us a venue that will compete with eBay. We are asking you PLEASE!! I promise you we will support you!

there is a big difficulty to find a customer service representative who is welling to help you . today i had to call 6 time each time i was directed to a different person

when they read or listen to your request they search on a way for NOT HELPING you and direct you to another person

they used to be bester but for the last few month something very strange happened

total frustrations as if the site is designed to generate money automatically and when a problem happened no one is welling to help

Awfull service, dont protect buyer

We purchased a new hammer drill for approx £55 from ebay via seller geraldjulie. The drill went wrong just after 3 months.
The seller geraldjulie wont answer emails and their telephone number is a recorded message saying email them.
Ebay have wiped their hands of it and say we should contact seller. We have advised ebay that seller wont speak to us - their response was basically "not our problem".
We are in process of instigating a small claims court appearance with the seller. Also a complaint is going in against ebay, with a letter to trading standards about ebays lacks of assistance.
BE VERY WARY OF EBAYS SO CALLED 'PROTECTION'.

mainly a buyer but no problems selling

If I want to find ANYTHING the first place I look is ebay, always been highly reputable in my book and even warned me when someone was trying to rip me off on a high priced item. You do not buy off of ebay directly so seller mishaps and problems are likely to occur, but have always been resolved. As for ebay and paypal being the same company, if I would have started a gem of a site like ebay I would hope to have the sense to have all the money go through me to. You can always read feedback before purchase and I do agree to an extent that its irritating when buyers dont pay but if they are reported forit in a non spiteful way without feedback, if they do it too often hopefully in hindsight they will be banned. Use common sense, charge a little more for your item or charge for recorded delivery and you should be safe as a seller. I have been a faithful ebayer for over 5 years now and my experience has been a very positive one, I dont run a shop so Icant comment there but as a buyer ebay is a++++++++

some problems for sellers from another greedy company...............

in recent times EBay has started charging commission on postage fee to sellers typically around 8-10%. As there is no such thing in life as a free lunch these costs have to be passed on which makes things more difficult in this economic climate. eBay don't care about this though all they want is more and more money. It may Even be illegal as the postage fee is simply that, it is not part of the actual sale. To make things worse there is also a “hidden agenda". please allow me to explain.......... in order to receive a discount on your final selling fees you have to achieve excellent detailed seller ratings. One of these categories is “how reasonable were postage and packing costs" now with PayPal fees (which eBay own) at around 3.5% (plus .20 per transaction) it means you have to stick around 12% on the cost of the postage. As many sellers run business accounts they also incur additional charges to post and pack the items professionally. this means these charges will also incurred a 12%. It is then easy for the buyer to perceive the overall postage and packing costs as being expensive and mark the seller down for charging too much. this becomes a complete disaster when sending heavy items overseas which can cost £50. It immediately adds 6 or £7 to the price.EBay are happy to have this happen because then the seller will not receive top rating, will not get the discount and then will be charged even more in fees by eBay! Thanks for all your help eBay! GREEDY

eBay was great several years ago but now it is a joke.

They take 10% of the postage fees and put it in their pocket. Yet they put restrictions on the amount you can charge for postage, which are regularly wrong amounts.

Full of scams and people who say they do no receive parcels when they do. Had several attempted scams that I fought off.

Barely anyone leaves feedback. No feedback is as bad as bad feedback in eBay's eyes.

Seller can't leave anything but positive feedback.

The fees are too high.

Beware Sellers should Boycott eBay.

I was contacted by the accellerated growth team at eBay who convinced me to try out the eBay platform to sell my premium brands, the set up was quite straight forward, we sold 1091 products in 12 months totalling £232,366.50 and have a feedback score of 535 with 99.1 feedback, our ratings were as follows.

Item as described
5 low ratings out of 1,091 (0.46%) eBay Top-rated
Communication
6 low ratings out of 1,091 (0.55%) eBay Top-rated
Dispatch time
27 low ratings out of 1,091 (2.47%)
Postage and packaging charges
3 low ratings out of 1,091 (0.27%) eBay Top-rated

As you can see we were top rated for 3 out of the 4 the low ratings being the dispatch time. I had over 25 discussions about this with eBay that we provide a free delivery service which is a 2 man room of choice service and the fact we are selling high ticket items some weighing over 80kgs and not books or DVD's which can be posted out Royal Mail, did not seem to register with them, they expected us to ship out our goods via a next day courier, having been in the trade for over 10 years I knew this would not work and the level of damages would go through the roof with such carriers.
One day I logged on to the eBay store to find all my listings had been made inactive, I instantly called eBay being pushed from post to pillar to be finally told after 5 days of calling them that there was no appeal process.
We had 2 employees working on the eBay store on a full time capacity who we would have to make redundant had our website not been the main source of our business.

There is a fundamental flaw in the eBay feedback system as not all customers leave feedback, and to be rated by this system as a seller is a complete farce. As a seller you are not allowed to see the ratings customers are leaving you.

Absolutely diabolical

I decided to sell for the first time. My items were sent within the time frame, yet the recipient emailed and complained that they did not receive the item, yet It was in the time frame to be sent out not delivered. Straight away I phoned EBAY, just to be told there is a note and wait and see. well i emailed them phoned them (costs money) to tell them I believe it was an untrustworthy buyer. My voice was ignored. Completely pushed aside. I am now out of pocket and I have not used EBAY or ever will. Customer service does not exist.

eBay have LOST the plot and new edit system doesnt always work

A user for many years eBay has made me a lot of money but todays system is too complex and full of bugs, add to that the need for you to allow buyers to use PayPal at YOUR COST and you have a system that has become almost worthless to me. Time is money and if the system involves too much time and too many rules and regulations then the good guys leave and the operators and scammers win. We need more competition in the auction market and thankfully in the UK we have better options and I wont miss eBay when I shut down my account in a few weeks. To the new and uninitiated I strongly advise just using the FREE sales websites, they are growing and work well and its FREE, Gumtree and Friday Ad in the UK work well for me.

Ebay has become the biggest ripoff online for sellers.

Ebay has become such a huge disappointment, they make it so hard to make money. They charge ridiculous final value fees, and then have the audacity to charge the seller for the paypal transaction once the buyer pays. This is made even more messed up when you realize the ebay owns paypal. They dont allow sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers anymore, even if the buyer is responsible for a failed transaction.
With any luck the will be shut down and maybe craigslist can have auctions. Since they arent just out to rip sellers off. I recently sold a $320 item on ebay. I had $32 taken out for a final value fee 10% are you serious it was up for 1/2 of a day, and then they charge me $10 for the paypal transaction so I end up with $278 when its all said and done. The are such crooks and the fees have only increased. Please someone make a sight for the people, both sellers and buyers...Death to Ebay

I WILL NEVER SELL ON EBAY AGAIN..!!!!!!

When Ebay started out it was a fair and trusted site where honest and genuine people bought and sold items in a friendly way and left each other true and honest feedback and it worked well..!!!

Now with Ebay's New Rules and Restrictions it has become an absolute paradise for fraudsters and conmen.

Buyer are simply telling Ebay that they have not received the item they paid for, even when the seller can prove it was received with tracking numbers, Ebay always take the side of the Buyer. Ebay will give the buyer a full refund (including the postage costs) and the seller can do nothing about it. Ebay will go over the sellers head and take the money directly from your Paypal account and refund the Buyer. The buyer can then even leave you a negative feedback which in turn leads to your account being suspended and all because of fraudsters.... When this happens don't even think about contacting the customer service as they will tell you that there is nothing they can do as the decision has already been made on the case.....It has become an absolute joke.!!!

TO TOP IT OFF.... Ebay also state in their rules that sellers is not allowed make any profit on postage fees and yet they now take a 10% fee from YOUR postage costs and put it in their pocket.!!! How HYPOCRITICAL is that.????

They have have become so blind with greed that they have forgot to look after the people who have made Ebay the successful company it has become today (THE SELLERS)..!!!

If the rules do not change to help the seller, then sellers will soon become obsolete and that will be the end of Ebay..!!
