Yes I also got caught out by the small print and had to pay import duty. EGlobal try to hide the fact that their prices are duty free and therefore you have to pay the duty on delivery plus a courier handling charge. I emailed them 5 days ago regarding my purchase and still have not had a reply. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST
I would have paid the same as UK high street prices for my camera - or less. And without the hassle of multiple calls and a 25 mile round trip to prise the goods from their international courier. It's only when you go though pages and pages of their t's and c's that you see in their smallest print that the prices advertised are duty free - hence why they look so good compared to other retailers. But in reality you're worse off, and with a hell of a lot more hassle. Then I started looking at the pages and pages of complaints and advice never to use this retailer, and forget thinking that you'll ever get any kind of refund off them if you tell them it's an con and you want your money back. I thought I was reasonably Internet buying savvy - I hadn't been ripped off online for 10 years or more, but there will always be sharks like this company playing a con for the next sucker. Avoid like the plague, and make sure to tell everyone you know to do the same. Has that painted an accurate enough picture? Don't be the next sap to be conned by these crooks.
One word. Awful. Never have i dealt with such a shoddy company - No where at the point of sale does it mention the price is EX VAT (uk) and that once the product arrives in the uk you have to pay the duty. Their customer service is just as bad, there's no phone number or email, just a 'live' chat function - they stopped answering my questions, apologised for misleading me then offered me a £5 then £10 discount if i kept the item. To send back is apparently £50 freight cost then £15 admin fee. Crazy. It's gone back and i've opened a dispute with PayPal to obtain a full refund. STAY CLEAR AT ALL COSTS
I ordered a Nikon d3200 camera from you with extras.no problem there. the camera was in stock .but there was no mention of a customs charge of £64.seems strange as the camera was in stock .why was this not mentioned when ordering??
I ordered a product from Eglobaldigital and when it arrived I wasnt able to take delivery without paying the UK VAT as this item was shipped from Hong Kong. This was totally inapropriate, mainly because VAT is a sales tax and as EGlobal claim to be a UK sellor should be accounting and charging for UK VAT at source. I refused delivery so it was returned but dispite EGlobal not being clear on the hidden charges they are charging me an admin fee to process the refund which I am still waiting on. I would never buy from this company again and urge anyone looking for a cheep purchase to not be fooled into thinking they are getting a good deal.
I was disappointed that I had to pay VAT of over £60 on my recent purchase this invoice coming a few days after delivery from the courier company. You really have to dig into the small print on your web-site to see this may be due and to my mind this does not mean you show a true and accurate price in your headline figure. Had the VAT been shown in your price it would still have been competitive but the underhand pricing you show will mean I am unlikely to purchase from you again. Paying import VAT on the "delivery charges" just adds insult to injury.
Speedy processing of order and prompt delivery but with a sting in the tail - this company is based in Hong Kong so purchases incur customs charges which were not transparent at time of ordering. By the time this became apparent, the financial penalties of cancelling the order were roughly equal to the customs charges so beware - these charges increased the cost of my purchase by 22.5%. I could have made my purchase much cheaper on Amazon!
I purchased a Fujifilm camera from this company having found them to apparently offer the most competitive price, along with free shipping. When my camera was delivered by DHL I was informed I needed to pay £50 import tax, plus a £5 DHL administration fee. The camera it seemed did not come from the UK as the web address (co.uk) suggested, but from Hong Kong.
I initially refused the delivery as I assumed there had been some kind of mistake, however when I returned to the company website it became clear - eventually, for this point was hidden amongst reams of other points - that by ticking the 'terms and conditions' box, which you are obliged to do to make your purchase, you are agreeing to pay import tax. The company clearly cover themselves legally by making customers check this box, but at the customers expense and, having read other people's experiences of this company I would certainly suggest avoiding making any purchases from them.
Since the camera came from Hong Kong the manual was in Chinese, so on top of the absurd import tax that I eventually paid, I will need to source, and probably buy, an English manual.
this company is a con, legally there doing nothing wrong, but there very miss leading, i brought a camera lens as it was the cheapest around by about £15, it clearly said free shipping, it shows a .co.uk website so you believe your dealing with a UK company, but infact its in hongkong, and i had to pay £52 duty tax on my item, making it alot more expensive than if id got it from the UK, when i spoke to them its only via email and seems automated response, my recommendation is stay away
I am senior Physician and regards myself as semi -professional photographer . I had the misfortune of ordering a pan sonic lumix digital camera through this corrupt company and all for the sake of saving a few pounds . Much to my disappointment the LCD screen malfunctioned on the 3rd day of use on my once in a life time African Safari . Upon return I tried to call the company and I can ONLY communicate with them via e-mails . I HAVE RETURNED THE CAMERA TO THEM AT MY COST AND THEY INSIST ON NOT REPLACING IT CLAIMING IT IS PHYSICAL DAMAGE AND NOT COVERED BY THEIR FLAWED WARRANTY which , incidentally , they hold and not shipped out with the camera!1 I am currently in a dialogue with MasterCard to get my money back. STAY AWAY FROM THEM .
I bought a Samsung S4 last year. The battery stopped working. Emailed the company for a new battery, was informed that it was not under warranty. Had to buy one. There products are not under European warranty due to coming from China or in my case from Australia. Be aware!!@
I unfortunatly came across e global digital store which not only promised free delivery on their website home page but also when you order you have the choice to select free standard shipping ..however when I made the order I was sent an email that it will take 48 hrs for them to send out the order which took more then 48hrs and finally I get a message from dhl that they have a parcel to deliver to me followed by another message that said I need to make an extra payment of £60 in order to recieve my order which was a shock as I was expecting a free shiping order ..as I contact the company they said its not their responsibility and ignored my emails when I wanted answers ...I have report them to the standard agencies n recomend any1 to do so If they had to face this problem and on top shit customer service and if your looking to buy from them plz plz dont coz u wil only pay more
Be aware that this company is based in Hong Kong and imports all items to the UK so the more you spend, the bigger the customs and VAT bill. The website appears to be designed to lure unsuspecting buyers to purchase cheaper goods from them and make them think the company is UK based. If you refuse delivery and return it to them, they charge a minimum £15 'admin' fee. More like a scam! This is one company/website that should be reported to Trading Standards.
Despite all website and shipping information being defined at the British market, this retailer defines the UK as an overseas destination and leaves the buyer to pay import fees and taxes! It is DELIBERATELY DECEPTIVE with the hidden costs and should be shut down in my opinion!!!
I searched the web for an Apple T V, eGlobal were the cheapest, but it wasn't made clear anywhere on their front page that I would have to pay the import duty and tax. When this was added it made it more expensive than if I had bought it directly from Apple. They must realise what they are doing and is an underhand deception, although nothing illegal, us suckers can only warn others, Buyer Beware.
This company does not make it clear up front that your goods will be dispatched from Hong Kong and are liable to import duty and VAT. I had to pay 50 pounds extra for my phone which more than negated the saving I'd made by purchasing from them. I had no choice but to pay the money as the terms and conditions do state this somewhere (I did actually skim read the Ts & Cs before purchase but missed this). Their FAQs state "We source our products from trusted official dealers around the world and then import them to the United Kingdom. From there we provide local delivery to your door!" I think this implies that they are the importer and will pay the costs. They would be prepared to accept a return and would charge deliver costs and 15 pounds admin fee but I figured this was likely to be more than 50 pounds. I think they are misleading the consumer and would suggest that people buy from companies who clearly state they are sending items from abroad and that there will be charges levied by customs.
