Have created many websites over a number of years and some of them have been hosted with this company, I don't dismiss a business just because of a few bad reviews but I wish I had done my homework more and I hope I can save some people some of the cost and time lost I have experienced. In short, had to move a company website as Fasthosts could not get a basic PHP form to work and denied it was a problem their end, moved website to another host and suddenly the problem was gone, spent hours waiting on the phone etc. etc.. Much worse is their policy of automatically generating invoices and charges for domains and services without confirmation. Turning off auto-renew prevents the domain name renewal but doesn't stop them charging for another year's hosting with no hope of a cancellation and threats of legal action and further charges. Make sure you set a reminder 11 months down the line and still have the email account you used when you set the domain up, and if you do cancel make sure you get some form of confirmation as well or you'll end up with another year's worth of hosting. This has happened to one of my customers and finally myself, so I've used my unwanted package to host a site warning people of these rogue traders.
Fasthosts - You clearly find your practice of relying on the customer to cancel services, and making it difficult to do so, very profitable, but I wonder how many people you have lost due to this policy. I have direct contact with over 1000 customers, built up over a decade, who get a regular newsletter from my business, so you can guess one of the topics in the next edition. Perhaps as more and more of these reviews get noticed, and your share price falls, someone with some sense takes notice, but I doubt you care?
Have not been able to get the email account to work since I joined fast hosts. Continually comes back with an error message to say the smtp service is down and Mac mail won't accept my password.
if you have a slow flash player dont use it and if your computers are older then it will slow down your working experience as you try to build a website .didnt like the way the staff tried to change my mind twice when i decided it want for us.but gave a prompt refund
You are – I am – internet-naive. You need – I needed – to register addresses for a new venture. You feed – I fed – words like "domain" and "name" and "register" into one of the big search engines. (I would have said I googled them but I have just discovered there are others because I can't seem to get back to Google ... that's how dumb I am.) Bing! There are a lot of firms out there doing this. Fortunately I had a better-educated friend with me: someone who knew what he was doing. He took over, and Fasthosts Internet did a good job, at a fair price. (You see, I went back and compared ... maybe I'm learning not to be such a Yahoo! after all ... what is my new venture? Now, that would be telling ...)
I was going to give Fasthosts 2 stars, but since the description of 2 stars says 'no sign of malicious intent', I had to go even lower.
Fasthosts automatically advertise on their customers' domains with poisonous parking pages which could seriously damage a company's reputation – this practice needs to stop now. Their domain control panel is also full of attempts to shovel their own hosting and email products.
I will never register a domain with Fasthosts again. I have already turned off auto-renew and will transfer my domain to another company soon.

I have asked for the account to be closed and I have not had any confirmation but get loads of this kind of stuff. Please address the issue rather than telling me other stuff. I hope that you are not trying to charge me for any services as I will dispute these if you have.
I bought domain name and requested that if be re-directed to a weebly website. That was a couple of weeks ago, and still not working.
Shame - not got time to chase up. Surely email request should help?
I have hosting with godaddy but they block certain ports which was no good for something I needed to do, fortunately I found fasthost who have no restrictions and may not be the cheapest but for the fact you don't get restrictions they should be compared to dedicated servers from other hosts and then you see the true value of their hosting
Have 4 dedicated, high spec servers there, no problem. Good service as long as you don't have to contact support. I won't put anything that need resilience or anything that needs to be backed up. For pure computing power its fairly good. Servers are good spec too.
Anyhow, you want superb reliability you go to EC2 and compromise performance. You want customer service you go to Rackspace wearing trousers with very deep pockets. You want both you go to Azure and get confused by all the terminology.
You want pure and simple server for basic needs you go to Fasthosts.
One negative tho - bandwidth is rather thin on the best day we can pull data from S3 at about 1.5Mb/s.
Switched to Fasthosts purely for their exchange email servers. Transferred my email and hosting package, and domain name in one foul swoop. No fuss no mess, domain transferred in 36 hours and went live without issue. Setting up my email to the new server was a doddle.
Would highly recommend.
I signed up to Fasthosts business plan, the service I received was shocking to say the least. I ending up having a dispute over the service I was or should I say wasn't receiving, resulting in me wanting to leave after two weeks. I paid upfront something in the region of nearly £200 and they declined to refund me, they referred me to their terms & conditions, which are ridiculous!
I sadly never perused them and wish I did, stay away!!
Prices good, phone service and support excellent (despite it taking a while to get through), the online FAQ resource extensive and the Online Domain Management portal easy to use. What more would you want??
I have been trying to send emails to my membership base for 7 hours now.
I have over 200 members and today for the first time support for IE 10 on the base email product ceased to work. I was then upgraded to starter plus as a fix for this, to find I could no longer send all the emails in one go. I was told I had to split them into 10s and send no more than 50 in 10 minutes. Turns out that was 50 in 24 hours. This is anti spam GONE MAD. Totally unusable, My email was urgent and had to go out by 4pm today. Inadvertently (my own fault) I have deleted a section of the contacts - simply hitting delete by mistake when I was breaking these into groups of 10. There is no way for a user to offload and back up contacts, and they do not know if they can restore them.
SURELY OTHER ISPs do not throttle user emails in this way. TERRIBLE.
Had an unexpected phone call just after I had completed my online purchase. It was just to confirm that everything had gone through OK. Never had that before with ANY company. It was a nice touch. I also had a phone conversation withe sales team and once again they were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
Had the website up and running in three days.
I have had a lot of trouble installing Word Press in order to set up a blog. I found that the how-to guides were insufficiently clear and detailed to steer the non-specialist through what was a much more complicated process than one was led to believe.
However, I am impressed by the diligence and perseverance of the support staff. All my queries were answered promptly and with a real desire to sort things out. In the end, they effectively did the work for me and even telephoned to tell me so.
The domain service and prices are good, I did not have any problems with it whatsoever. My only gripe is that their FAQ isn't very detailed. I was completely new to the domain stuff and I wasn't sure how to link the domain to my server's IP. Now I know that I simply had to go into Advanced DNS settings and change the empty ones IP to my server's IP. It's simple and anyone who knows their way around domains would know that, but for someone who's completely new to this, it was difficult for me to figure it out.
Fast hosts are a fly by night punch of con men. They will find every way to squeeze every single penny from you. Also if you miss a payment they which lock your account which is fair enough BUT will refuse you access to all of your paid domains. Their support team are rude and inefficient, I have dealt with many internet providers through my work and these guys are quite simply the worst. To sum up incompetent, fraudsters, and avoid at ALL costs...
I only joined FastHosts 10 days ago, Since then I have put in 3 tickets regarding my sites slow speeds. I purchased a reseller account for my 40 some websites. I only transferred over 4 websites, including my main business site. I would say on average I get page load times of 14 seconds or more. Apparently, the stroppy support person told me 'If I want quicker page load times, I would need to upgrade to a dedicated server'! Shocking!
How about, in the first instance you lower the amount of servers you host on individual servers and maybe listen to customers who know what they are talking about.
I requested a refund after 4 days and was given a straight 'No'.
I have now posted negative posts across no less than 20 site and will continue to do so.
Terrible company, please do not use!
called up several times for support, everyone giving different answers to same question - problem never resolved, In the end gave up and moved to a new host!
I needed to get a domain name and email quickly to get my new business up and running. A few simple clicks and my chosen domain name was registered and my email was active. I had looked at a variety of other suppliers, but Fasthost offered the best deal and services. Would use again!
Obviously tech support is targeted on replying rather than answering.
Typical request: Help - xxx is not working like it should do.
Reply: xxx should be working in the way you expect it.
Me: no its not.
If you opt for shared hosting their server blocks nearly all of your commands in htaccess and support don't even have a clue about spotting it or mentioning the restriction.
I cancelled after 2 days and they tried to block my refund.
I would recommend Fasthost for anyone taking the first step of setting up their own domain. The on-line system worlds faultlessly and the ability to download detailed help docs is a big plus.
I set up my website : www.hair-palace.co.uk on your server two weeks ago but the website is very slow. please check it because I am not content with your service.
Customer helpline is not able to resolve issues to your satisfaction. Products and services are not customer centric.
If you're an expert or large user and accustomed to the ways of hosts, then Fasthosts has good products and plenty of options. However, the organisation is not really geared to the small, inexperienced user - which is not unreasonable as the usual 20/80 rule will apply.
It might be helpful if the consequences of some of the actions/options were included in the FAQ. There are numerous pitfalls for the unknowing and unwary.
