I bought 2 silver necklaces for my daughters. One turned up and was bent! The silver was so flimsy that the necklace had obviously bent in transit. I phoned Groupon straightaway and was told to email the company, Sivercraft Design.
I emailed the company (a UK email address) and got a response from, I believe, Poland. Basically, they would replace but not refund.
I telephoned Groupon to explain that my issue was about the quality of the silver and said that a replacement would still be of a poor quality. Groupon informed me that they vetted all suppliers and that no one else had complained! REALLY!?! As a token of goodwill they offered me a £5 voucher. I offered to send them the necklaces to look at the quality but they said they were a voucher company and did not wish to see the goods. So customer service at Groupon is pure lip service - they have your money and they do not care about the product.
I am now left with 2 necklaces that I do not believe are fit for purpose. I will not be giving them to my daughters as I do not believe that they are safe. I will never do business with Groupon again and say to anyone interested in listening, BEWARE WHAT YOU BUY WITH THIS COMPANY. The only word I can use is UNSCRUPULOUS!
I bought a set of 50 led solar lights, and when received they were faulty. I contacted them straight away, by recorded delivery. I wanted an exchange of which I was told wasnt possible as they would only be able to refund. I contacted them a few times to ask about the refund to be told they hadnt received back yet. I got my tracking number and the goods and been signed for a week and a half previously. I told the girl on the phone I had emailed a link with the signature and she very patronisingly told me she couldnt open the link properly !! I then suggested I fax it to her, and she said she never had a fax number to send it to. She then told me I needed to send her a proof of postage!! How do I do this with no fax to send it to???? She then informed me that she needed confirmation from the warehouse on the return before she could do a refund. They have had the goods for a week and a half already and not confirmed it!!!!!
My frustration got so much that I told them not to bother refunding me as I never had the patience any longer to chase them for £7.99.
I most certainly will not be buying goods from them again!!! Far far too much hassle!!!!
We had worked with Groupon on and off for 3 years and to start with even though we were paying a lot for the advertising we got quite good expose so we just ignored the cost but as time has gone on, the service they provide has got worst we have had to wait weeks to get paid and this after they have had the money from our clients weeks if not months before hand , no business provides a service and then should have to wait weeks to get paid and then only after threatening legal action do we get paid.
And to add insult in injury there staff seem to think they can tell us what we should or shouldn't do and expect us to work for free, why they reap the rewards. We own our business and paid them for advertising that is all. When we dared to argue about what service we should offer they will argue with us and push us to keep lowering the price groupon are only interested in them selves not the partners and not the customers and the service they provide is disgusting. They seem to forget that without the businesses working with them and the customers buying the goods and services there would be no groupon they should try remembering that.
I ordered a mixer from Groupon earlier in the month which duly arrived and was good. A week later I received an email to say the mixer was being delivered. I quickly emailed back to say this was a mistake. However it seems to take this company several days to reply to emails and a courier tried to deliver a second mixer which I refused to accept. I then found that two payments of £150 had been taken by Groupon from my account. After numerous emails from them stating that I need to provide 'proof of postage' I am no nearer gaining my refund on their mistake! I shall never deal with Groupon again and I will make sure I tell as many people as possible about the unreliability of this company to add insult to injury I now find that the said mixer is available, at Robert Dyas, for £50 less anyway!
I received a faulty item from a seller that Groupon used. It took 2 months for them to give me a refund for the product with me emailing them every day.
Groupon would not always reply and update me on the situation so thats why I had to email every day.
The company that I received the faulty product from was "www.supavalue.biz" and they would not respond to me or Groupon. Groupon took 2 months to tell me this.
The first thing Groupon asked me todo was send the item back to www.supavalue.biz.
After doing this at my expense when i finally got a refund Groupon told me that they would not refund the postage cost. They told me to take this up with www.supavalue.biz which they knew would be impossible as they were not even able to get hold of them.
I have now vowed never to use Groupon again as i never want to go through the hassle of their ridiculous returns process.
They are one of the worst companies I have used online.
Firstly, I have bought a few things from Groupon which were all fine, until I had to call them about one of the merchants.
I bought a voucher for some tickets to a murder mystery event on a particular date. The instructions say you must confirm your booking with merchant a minimum of a week prior to the event, however it is impossible to reach the merchant as they never answer or return calls left on their machine and their email addresses don't work. I reported this to Groupon and they said it will take 10 working days for them to investigate at which point I must call them back for the result as they will not call me. About a week later I got an email from groupon saying they need my email address and phone number to pass to the merchant which I provided (obviously they already have this and could surely have asked for permission to share details when the complaint was raised).
I waited another 10 days or so and called their call centre again and they said that it had been passed only 2 working days ago to customer care who would need another 10 working days to investigate! I complained as this would take us beyond the date that the event was taking place, the agent I spoke to was unhelpful and a bit rude and said I either wait or have groupon vouchers - I actually just wanted to go to the event so I said should I go or not as we don't know if it is tracking place but the agent just said she could not advise and that the voucher did not expire for a few months - how could this be when the event was in less than 2 weeks? I asked for a manager who was a lot more pleasant and said he understood and he would raise the issue again and explain that I need an answer in less than 10 working days as it is urgent, he also offered to credit me£10 as a gesture. This entire conversation took over 40 minutes on the phone.
The very next day I received an email from groupon saying as they haven't heard from me they will be closing my enquiry! I could not believe it, I replied saying I had spent over 40 minutes on the phone only yesterday and it was ridiculous as I was promised this would be dealt with not closed, I requested someone call me to discuss it, but it has been 4 days now and I have not heard anything - even though they advertise emails will be replied to within 24 hours.
Basically I've been waiting almost a month and am no further forward, I don't know if I should turn up for the event or not. Clearly groupon's processes are poorly organised and not customer friendly.
It appears that if the merchant is good groupon is fine to buy from, but if you have a problem don't expect groupon to help!
I saw an advert for a luxury mattress at a great discount via groupon. Paid for it and was told that the freight company would contact me to arrange delivery. Two days wasted waiting for an item that was never going to arrive. Freight company couldn't really give a damn and worst of all Groupon have told the supplier to cancel my order !!! The cost of all of the phone calls, constantly being held in a queue or being put on hold, being passed from pillar to post has been a nightmare, let alone my partner having to take a day off work and then a wasted Saturday waiting for an item that's never going to arrive !!! To say I'm livid with this shower is an understatement. Groupon sort yourselves out. Trading standards and watch dog are only a phone call away.
I've ordered goods through Groupon and immediately paid. Groupon promises to send the goods within 5 working days, but now I'm waiting over month. I constantly am sending emails to Groupon, but I get a reply that the goods arrive in a few days. This is incredibly stupid. If you want to have a quiet nerves, leave Groupon.
There is a NO STAR rating.
I bought a Groupon voucher for Swedish Massage and Facial at 7 Amen Corner Exquisite Hair and Beauty. I tried calling the merchant to book to have my treatment. Their number was constantly engaged. I finally got through on Saturday lunchtime. I was informed that they are fully booked up and to go back to Groupon for a refund. I contacted Groupon on Monday for a refund. They informed me that they will investigate the matter and get back to me. I heard nothing back and rang Groupon again. They informed me that they have contacted the merchant who advised that they have plenty of availability and so Groupon cannot refund the voucher. They have asked for a written evidence that the merchant is fully booked. How on earth am I going to get this from a business that cannot be bothered to take calls from customers and have now taken their phone off the hook.
I have now been trying the merchants telephone number and it is constantly engaged. I have gone onto their website and cannot book the treatment via the website as the treatment is not available in the drop down options. I have sent them a message and am still waiting for a call back. The only option left is for me to drive down the 9 - 10 mile trip to contact them face to face.
I thought I had bought a leather satchel - a great deal, was really looking forwards to receiving my bag. But although I'd put in all my details, and the transaction, made through Paypal (which I never have a problem with) seemed to go through ok, I received no email receipt.
Seemed odd, so I looked at my Groupon account and saw the order was recorded there. Phoned up Groupon - who said they'd had problems with the transaction and immediately cut me off. Checked paypal and no record of the transaction.
Phoned back. This time they asked for a credit card. I said no - I didn't trust them, it was my first experience of using Groupon, please use Paypal. Then it transpired that the bag was only now available in a different size and colour. They asked again for a card and I said no and asked them to cancel my Groupon account. They said they would - but cut me off again. I think this is a company to avoid.
Last night I bought the voucher for a few nights in Dublin at the Cassidy hotel. This morning I got the voucher which I thought was very good and quick, so at lunchtime I thought I would book with clear sky's holidays to get in quick. After spending nearly an hour on the phone I was told that Cassidy's was booked up, no matter which week he checked and I couldn't go from my chosen airport gatwick. I was offered stansted which is a long way for me, I live in Brighton, which would make a weekend trip start to be a chore. When I queried the availability of both hotel and airport I was told to read the small print and was only if available. Having rung only 5 hours after the groupon was issued I was shocked. He told me that going from gatwick was very expensive and would incur extra cost, well I didn't read anywhere that gatwick would cost more. Also I was offered a hotel 20 minutes by car outside of town. I said I wanted to stay in town at the Cassidy, which is why I booked, and was told "no no this is a very expensive hotel and booked up"??? Again I queried this and was told I could stay there if I paid an extra £59 per person. Having been put on hold countless times and getting very confused as I kept getting so many conflicting things being said I paid the extra to stay and go from exactly the reasons why I bought the groupon on the first place!!
Now to add insult to injury I've just looked at aer lingus and Cassidy's on booking.com and found out I could have booked it myself £60 cheaper!!!

I recently bought orderd a memory foam mattress from groupon and four days later received an email saying my order had been dispatched and will be with me "shortly" which included tracking info. I logged into the courier site to track the delivery only to be told it's the wrong tracking code.
After many unsuccessful attempts to contact the couriers I got back in touch with groupon only to be forwarded an email saying it is being looked into.
The money was taken for payment within hours of the order almost a week has past since the first dispatched email saying it will be with me " shortly "
I still have no idea when or if I'm going to receive my order.
I would say if you don't mind paying for goods that you may or may not receive after waiting in for days and being fobbed off when trying to find out what has happend to the items you have been charged for, then yeah use groupon.
Personally it has cost me alot more to use this company with lost days at work and phone calls to premium rate numbers to at best get an answer machine at best than it would have done to go to a shop and pay the full price for the item.
In short A RUBBISH UNRELIABLE COMPANY and still no mattress.
short story - I purchased a sofa bed to allow more room in spare bedroom, received email advising out for delivery allow 5 days so disposed of a perfectly good bed and mattress to make room for the delivery of sofa bed, 5 days passed still no sofa bed. called the merchant and was advised 10-14 days. waited 10-14 still no sofa called merchant to find out they didnt have sofa for me as they had damaged some that had been delivered and was unsure if they would restock. Took this up with Groupon and was advised I would receive my delivery as they were advised of how much stock was available and that my order had been accepted they passed to escalation department. No news from escalation department after a couple of days so called again and was told allow 7-10 days well this was now over a month since purchasing the voucher. Called again after 10 days and still no further forward, called again after another 2 days and received email advising that Merchant had been trying to call me to deliver the sofa, advised groupon this was rubbish and that the merchant had not been in contact at all. Gave groupon all my contact details and still no call regarding delivery, was emailing them everyday advising no contact from Merchant and received an email advising that they had refunded without even asking ( in other words was to much trouble for them to sort with Merchant) I advised them that I wanted compensation to cover the bed and mattress that had been disposed of as they sent the email advising this was out for delivery and would not have disposed of the bed if this had not been sent. Groupon sent email advising that they would credit my account £20.00 as a good will gesture ( are they having a laugh ) yeah £20.00 will really go far to buying a new bed and mattress to replace the one that was disposed of, The refund for the sofa wouldnt even come close to the cost of the bed and mattress, they advised me to look out for more deals on sofa beds on Groupon ( they are having a laugh) do you really think I would purchase another sofa from Groupon.
But I did report the Groupon/my city deal & Bed & Mattress World to the Office of Fair Trading as they already had a case with Groupon in 2012. This is now closed but the OFT is monitoring complaints about its trading practices. So would encourage all that have had problems with Groupon/My City Deal to contact the Office of Fair Trading.
I think I'm a bit shocked when I see so many bad reviews. I think for me, in general, I've got a not so bad experience. I have been a customer of Groupon UK for a long time, bought quite a lot of things from them, and also cancelled, returned quite a few times. I think they refunded me very quickly. Some products are not good of course, I think it is quite normal, so you have to choose wisely, try not to choose unecessary things. If you indeed had bad experience from some companies, well, you can only accept it I'm afraid.
I bought some vouchers to buy the cloths in OhMyLove, the quality of the clothes are terrible in terms of the pricing, and they are even made in the UK! I was very surprised. I had to return all of them, but Groupon returned the money to me quickly as usual.
I had bought two vouchers from two different salons. One of them, the skills of styling is brilliant, but the customer service is very bad, and behaved very cold to me, like I own them something. It is the DEN in middlesbrough. Another one, the styling skill is not quite good, I wanted to have my hair dyed nicely, but they only wanted to give me a simple colouring. Customer service is not bad though, and was warm and chatting with me, so I won't name them.
I also had a voucher for Beneficial Chiropractic Clinic in Darlington, the chiropractor has good skills which I like, but the time he practised on me was less than specified in every session as far as I remember.
For the other vouchers, so far, so ok. In terms of customer service of Groupon UK itself, I think it is a bit slow, but in general the problems are solved. Well, for example, less timing for the previous voucher mentioned above wasn't solved as far as I remember. So in general, I'm ok with Groupon UK, will visit them again, but just need to choose the products more carefully as it is very likely you'll always meet some canny companies.

Not satisfactorily, poor service!
Please see the below!
Also please find a copy of my customer satisfaction survey that I was asked to fill out yesterday, to help you make improvements to your service - the irony is incredible!
if you could please forward this email to your 'senior team leader' or their manager I would be most grateful.
Please also close my groupon account and remove me from any mail/email list that my email address is attached to!
Satisfaction survey notes:
I bought a groupon for an experience - ironically I've always been a little sceptical of groupons, well, I paid for it, but due to a technical error your end not generating a code, I now will not get my experience, groupon will have my money for a week, I will now go to Bristol to stay in a hotel that I have booked, but because you 'cannot generate a code' after something has ended, I will only go and stay in the hotel!! How would you know something hadn't generated a code until it ended!
Phoned customer service who were equally as useless, not trying to find a solution to the problem, but purely saying that 'we'll give you a refund' for the experience! not exactly what I expected from my first groupon experience, we're not talking about a lot of cash here, but out of principal I will share my shabby experience with as many people as I can, my work colleagues certainly won't be you next customers, and I would advise everyone to steer well clear! Bargains, not really, not when you add up the poor service if things go wrong, should just be thankful it's a small amount of money,
Feel free to email me,
Or call on ************
The customer service operator called William said he would - but nothing, no real surprise there though, just consistently rubbish.
Obviously the final sentence should be retracted, and whilst I appreciate your email William, it's a little bit of a fob off, because groupon don't want the hassle of clearing up their mess,
It's £12 after all, next one could've been £200 though!
Many kind regards
In my case, the offer of Nespresso machine compatible coffee capsules appeared to be very good, offering a good discount. Everything went smoothly and the capsules arrived but they did not work in my machine. Groupon did not want to know as you should be aware that under English Law they are only an "Agent" and therefore the responsibility for the transaction lies with Caffe.com the supplier. Caffe.com advised that they needed Video evidence to initiate a refund. This I did, and they replied that they could not offer a refund because it would cost too much in courier charges!! I reported this to Groupon and they did not want to know. I have contacted trading standards and you can guess what they said and I have not got the energy to fill in the court papers, and if they trade from a European address (i.e. not UK registered) then I am wasting my time. I will never use a third party Agent again, although I am aware that some people have had good results using Groupon advertised companies. Not for me!
Addendum - 9th October 2013
Groupon have now contacted me in this matter and offered to make a full refund. I have accepted this and Groupon have made a full cash credit to my Bank account as I paid by Debit card originally. From my perspective this resolves the matter which I now view as closed. However, it is unfortunate that it took so many exchanges before this matter was resolved, and it is my personal view that the original supplier should be dealt with for not making the refund under the sale of goods act, although I understand it may not apply to them if their company does not have a registered trading address in the UK. However, thank you Groupon for making the refund which is appreciated.

I have only purchased two vouchers and have trouble with both so far,
The first a barge trip was fully booked the same day I purchased the voucher, and the second a photo shoot said there was no availability! despite me trying to book 2 months in advance!
If there are 60 available places, there should be 60 spaces available for customers so why am I being told " sorry we are fully booked"
waste of my time! and my money! will not be booking anything again, stay away, deals are too good to be true! big scam.

I bought a groupon for dishwasher tablets and was given a delivery tracker that showed the goods were never collected by the carrier. It took me 3 months of persisting with emails and telephone calls (30 minutes on hold is the usual) with the same 'holding' response from customer services. Always needing to be escalated to a manager, wait 10 working days, no response, back to escalation.
I paid £8.99 and eventually got a £6.00 credit with £10.00 credit for my trouble. No refund. Unspeakably bad service. I will use my credit (with fingers crossed) then NEVER USE GROUPON AGAIN.
Until seeing all these reviews I have never heard of a problem with them, I have bought tonnes of things off groupon and very please with what I have, I can understand some issues due to the different companies that advertise through groupon, guess that's just bad luck!. I recently ordered x2 pairs of earrings with Swarovski elements, only one arrived, so I emailed groupon and they were very helpful, my second pair have come today. Yet again I am pleased, I have even purchased a getaway through them too which I was wary about but I had a fab time!
Thank you Groupon
Having purchased a voucher for a nutrition course with 'the fitness training company', i found the course material to be littered with typos, bad grammar and incorrect information. Quizzes cannot be completed due to error messages meaning you need to spend hours redoing them and there is no guarantee that it won't happen again!
Merchants are a small office with a rude and dishonest assistant on the phone! I informed Groupon of the troubles i am having with this company and have requested a refund over two weeks ago. Each time i call groupon i have to explain the whole thing all over again! Only this time to be told that i have accessed the course and can therefore not be refunded. Although the course runs for 12 months, due to personal commitments i was hoping to complete this within weeks, which is advertised as an option. So i have ultimately been misled into purchasing a dodgy service!
Very disappointed with groupon customer services and will never use Groupon ever again.
I will continue pursuing my refund from groupon for 'the fitness training company' deal, a substandard company and course, how they manage to charge almost £300 at full cost for this course is beyond me.
Unfortunately, the bad experiences with Groupon are VERY bad and sadly at a cost. Groupon have no customer service ethics at all and are quite frankly feeding off of the loyalty of their customers and ripping them off!
Do not use Groupon. I have used twice now and on both occasions the item i have purchased has been sub standard. I bought teeth whitening (which was just toothpaste and a light put on my teeth for an hr, guess what it didnt work) and then laser tattoo removal. I read some really bad reviews and couldnt get through to the clinic so i took a walk to take a look around. The clinic was a disgrace and i do not want this company lasering my skin! I contacted Gorupon for a refund and now it seems Groupon is substandard also as their customer services department are unable to provide just that! After being held on the phone for 30 mins and requesting 5 times to speak to a manager i was put through, Finally someone on the same wavelength. However i think i was lucky and i am not sure everyone would get to speak to anyone with authority. Absolute tosh of a company selling bad companies products. RUN RUN RUN
I bought 2 Cidery Tour and Tasing sessions at Rough Ild Wide, Elmsted as birthday presents. Both people tried to book the tours independently given the contact details on the groupon voucher but received no response to their web enquiries or telephone calls. One of the poeple called Groupon to report the problem that he could not book the tour which had been paid for, he was told groupon would only deal with me as the purchaser. By the time I got all the information and called Groupon they said the deal had expired and they would not do anything. I have used groupon successfully in the past but would be very wary of using it for small company offers, I'm not sure if the company have gone bust or have changed their telephone numbers bur it is clear they were not going to honour the Groupon Voucher and Groupon are not interested in investigating or refunding the money.
Well if my experience is anything to go by, my order through groupon for 2 hibiscus trees is shocking! I received them ok but they nothing like they advertised. All the tops had been cut off so they could fit in the box and there are virtually no buds!
Why should I be responsible for the postage to return the bushes that are so far from the photo that made me buy them??
I would certainly call their description, misrepresentation and certainly feel that Groupon should stop promoting them if this is their usual standard!
my first order from grupon delivery get delayed ...one or two days in this time i read a lot of bad reviws about them....I hawe donne a complain to paypal to get my monney back but in the mean time the item arrived ...since that I hawe order a lot of items and all received in time...I want to mention thet the first order come from spain....I reccomend to anyone to bennefit from grupon deals and for your safety pay with paypal the sayfest mode too pay and get your monney back if u dont receive the item....
I bought an Inman Aligner(brace) from Groupon in March. I want a refund as the clinic I went to accused me of deliberately breaking the appliance, which was very well looked after due to the price (£895!). The clinic want to charge me for the repairs as well as £400 of additional charges that I was not informed about at the time of purchase. Groupon has stated that the brace was not faulty but had been broken (meaning they have took the clinics word against mine)! When I originally complained Groupon agreed to refund me only to email two days later to say they have changed their mind! I am really unhappy with their service and will continue to fight until I get my money back. Beware of these scam artists!
Hi, I purchased a groupon for an online training course last month.
I am dyslexic and made the training company and groupon aware when before i purchased this groupon.
And groupon did say in the fine print that if i have learning difficulties a full refund is available.
when i contacted the training center, they agreed to refund me (VIA GROUPON) but groupon is only offering me vouchers instead of cash.
what a bunch of con artists!!!!
I bought a number of Groupon vouchers in the lead-up to my holiday, most of which are "pampering" things. I have just tried to redeem the first one at a clinic that I have used in the past, only to be told that I'm not eligible as the coupon is for new customers only (this was NOT clear on the Groupon advert).
Having contacted Groupon for a refund, I was told that they would not be able to give me a refund as I bought the voucher more than 7 days ago. The woman I spoke to would not budge on this even after I kicked up an enormous fuss. It was only after I demanded to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for ages that I have now been told that I should receive a refund within 5 working days.
I am about to try to redeem my remaining vouchers and will update this review after doing so and after receiving my refund.
I brought a leather sofa set from groupon and and really pleased! It was delivered promptly and for the price paid I am over the moon.
Customer services were polite and efficient when I contacted them with a query as I hadn't used groupon before! I have nothing negative to say about them!
Until two weeks ago I had stopped using Groupon. I wish I had never restarted.
Purchased a set of three t-shirts as an anniversary present with delivery within 7 working days and full tracking .
They never arrived and I had to quickly buy something else.
Wrote to groupon yesterday to request a full refund as they had failed to deliver. Received a reply this morning telling me they were shipped on Wednesday with no tracking number and to 'expect it within 5 working days....if it hasn't arrived by then to email the merchant direct'
I replied that I requested a refund to which I'm entitled under the distance selling regulations and surprise surprise no reply.
I then called them (fifteen minutes in the queue) to be met my rude Will P who told me I had to contact the merchant myself. I replied that as I paid groupon direct and not the merchant they are the ones who have to refund me. He then claims that it will take 10 working days to contact the merchant. Seriously????!!! It takes 10 working days to make a phonecall to cancel an order that was never delivered?
I've now put in a claim with Paypal and I think I'll also be contacting trading standards as groupon needs investigating.
Absolutely never again groupon.
i purchased an item on the 3rd of july was told delivery 7 working days, no product arrived, contacted groupon and was lied to 3 times that my order was with royal mail, im still waiting after 3 weeks for my product. i contacted Groupon and was told i have to wait 10 working days for my item to be re-issued even though the merchant was willing to do it straight away if Groupon gives the authorization. Groupon refused and i asked for a refund and was told i had to wait the 10 working days first for the re-issue before they can refund my money even though i don't want the product anymore.
they have the worst customer service and even their manager Gareth is the most useless and very unhelpful, if you don't want to come off the phone crying don't bother buying from them because they would frustrate you.

Mine is a very similar experience to David Icke's.
I received credit for a purchase due to the company not offering the service described.
I contacted Groupon by telephone, and was told I could not receive a refund, but was entitled to credit. At no point was I made aware that there was a time limit on this credit.
I was only aware that the credit had expired when I logged in to take advantage of a deal that was advertised in their weekly email. This was the first deal in over a year that I was interested in.
Hoping that Groupon might provide good customer service, I asked whether the credit could be reinstated, only to receive a short reply that this could not be done.
If credit was given to a customer as part of an offer, I can understand why there may be expiration dates. But I find it poor practise for a company to limit the use of what technically is the customer's money.
It is also unfortunate that Groupon are able to bombard the customer with continuous offers, but cannot inform them about upcoming expiration dates. This appears to be a deliberate ploy to accumulate as much free revenue as possible.
I was a Groupon customer for a while. I received really bad experiences from Groupon vendors, dodgy companies, rude staff, couldn’t get appointments etc. Whenever I called Groupon to complaint about this, it always took me a while to get Customer service to compensate me for the terrible experiences I received from their vendors. They hardly ever gave my money back instead they would always say we will give you Credits! At the time I didn’t fight this as I thought I’ll just buy other deals. But I had so many bad experiences that my credit mounted up to about £100. Bad experiences coupled with Groupon holding on to my money as credits, those were all warning signs and I should have really cancelled my groupon account at that point!
The nail in the coffin with Groupon was just over a week ago. The last couple of months had been really traumatic for me due to being unemployed along with other personal matters and so the last thing on my mind was to shop with Groupon. However to take my mind of things whilst checking my emails I thought I’d log in to groupon. I was shocked to see that my £30 credit now said £0 credit. I couldn’t understand what happened and I checked all over my account to find that it expired on 1st July 2013 and it was now the 8th July. I was shocked. My money had gone. I emailed Groupon and told them that I’d just been unemployed and had been through a very difficult time and that the last thing I was thinking about was buying groupon deals. Further I did not receive any reminders or emails that my credit is expiring!
I pleaded to the customer service rep and poured out my situation and asked them to just extend it by maybe a week or even a month! But all I got from a heartless customer service rep was sorry you had 12 months to spend that credit! I could not believe it. In these tough times with the recession and being unemployed £30 is a lot of money, but the Rep just could not care less. More importantly he tells me if I had thought 12 months would be a problem I should have told them! Disgusting! How was I supposed to predict what situation I will be faced with in 12 months’ time? I could not believe it. After much pleading he refuses to just extend the credit (my money) for maybe another week or month as a goodwill gesture, especially as it just expired!!!
I will be escalating my complaint to whoever I can and now looking back I should have closed my account with groupon a long time ago when they kept turning my money to credits as a result of the bad vendors they work with to sell these deals. I have received bad experiences with vendors, received credit instead of my money back, and now the final straw is this situation, where a ROBOT customer service rep despite my pleas to extend it for a little longer and despite the difficult situation I have been going through, he says no and furthermore insinuates that I should have predicted 12 months ago that I would be facing a terrible situation towards the end of my credits expiry date and should have told them about it, then perhaps they could have done something about it then! Disgusting!
Groupon say they deal with complaints on a case by case scenario, therefore taking my unemployment and my numerous pleas the rep had full authority to extend my credits for a little longer, considering it only expired a few days ago!!!! But he chose not to, so what does that say!!! I think if someone had a severe illness they would still not give back your money!!!!
I have brought deals from KGB, Wowcher and Living Socials, and truth be told I only ever had one bad experience with a KGB vendor and the Customer service rep didn’t give me credits but gave me the cash back!
I will be emailing Group on to close my account. I’ve had enough of pleading to them to give back my money! And cannot deal with their heartless customer service reps anymore!!
Bought vouchers that were not used because the merchant did not have availability. groupon instead of refunding my money, they issue me a credit. As I was out of the country for maternity, I couldn't use the credit during the 12 months period so credit has now expired. Avoid like a plague as you'll never get your money back. I'm surprised they're still in business. Amazon local doesn't have an expiry day on the amount you paid. Something groupon should learn from!!
I had used groupon for quite a few purchases and on the whole was satisfied with the experience. However, after a period where my computer froze up and took all the relevant information with it, it was some time before I got a new device, and then eventually the groupon email was found in my spam folder and transferred to my inbox.
Soon I found something I wanted and I swiftly purchased and paid while looking for some credits that I had been given previously.
These credits were given not for a change of mind on my behalf, but for the inability of two merchants to fulfill there side of the deal. In both of these circumstances I would have preferred a refund to my account but instead was given credits.
But no credits could be found. They had expired.
I swiftly got in touch with a representative, who very swiftly replied that there was nothing he could do!
I have checked through my emails and I received no email warning of there imminent expiry and now I have lost money through merchants not delivering a service promised through groupon.
But who has the payments?......GROUPON !
Inflexible and poor customer service!
I completed my purchase today, I wish now that I hadn't.
After much back and fore, I eventually asked for my complaint to be put to a manager.
They came back and gave me the credit valid for another 12 months.
I have changed my star rating to two, as it has been a trying process, but to be fair they have eventually given credit back.
Hi, I recently came across a driving lesson package for my partner for £89.00 i thought wow bargain. I continued to check the small print which all seemed to pan out.
however when i came to book the lessons which stated "10 hours tuition driving test and pass plus" the gentleman explained that i would have to book at least another 15 hours of lessons on top of this at £20 per hour. I was furious as like most people that book deals like this don't expect to have more money on top of your original payment to pay.... In light of this i contacted "Groupon" to be told that i had misread the fine print and because it was longer than seven days after i purchased the voucher i wasn't entitled to a refund and they could only give me credits.... I was furious... why would I want credits i haven't used the voucher it does not expire until December 2013 and it was utterly misleading and disappointing this company should not be allowed to get away with matters like this and i will be taking further action. I PAYED WITH CASH SO I SHOULD BE GIVEN A CASH REFUND.
