I bought a photo shoot for two to get some nice photos with my partner who resides abroad over Christmas 2013 period. After contacting the salon for a full month via phone + email and leaving my contact details on answerphone, my girlfriend had to move back abroad and the voucher became useless. I have now contacted Groupon three times (twice via email and once in writing by post) to request a refund on the deal. they have duly ignored my communications for two weeks and when the advisor came back to me, they said that they cannot locate my account. At this juncture, I notified Groupon that I wanted all of my existing deals refunded and my account with Groupon closed as I was completely dissatisfied with their customer service standards. Once they located my account, they claimed that as the deal was bought longer than 7 days ago, refund isn't available to me and the best they can do it contact the vendor on my behalf and arrange the appointment for me (completely ignoring all my previous explanations wrt why I couldn't use the deal anymore) OR offering me "store credit" (despite my intention to close my account with them). Overall, I found that it is possible to find most of Groupon's deals online by contacting vendors directly and the only benefit Groupon offers you is having everything aggregated in one place. However this is completely overshadowed by abysmal customer service and very relaxed policy as to who Groupon sells services for (clearly not always reputable vendors). Avoid unless they come up with something REALLY exceptional.
Ordered a suite for the conservatory on 28/12/2013 for £160 with delivery within 7days. Emailed them 8/01/14 and they replied that item had been dispatched. Emailed them again on15/01/14 and was informed that there was a problem with The delivery department and that the item had been dispatched (AGAIN???) to reach me no later than 20/01/14. Rang them on the evening of 20/01/14 asking for my money back only to be told "we cannot refund you money until you return your item" . I haven't received the goods , that's why I want my money back!! Was then told goods were dispatched on 16/01/14. I demanded to speak to a supervisor only to receive the same answers except that she said the goods had been dispatched on the 17/01/14(can't even get their lies right) and would receive it by the end of the week but if I wanted a refund to reject the delivery. Was told that their system can't make a refund until they receive the goods back ( the ones they have lost). Don't touch them with a barge pole
I've never called a company to complain before, however I've made an exception for Groupon - after ordering an item on Christmas Day with an expected delivery time of 7 working days and having not received it last week, I sent 3 emails to them with no reply, then after checking my account on their website I saw they had credited it with the funds from the item and no explanation why. Upon calling their unhelpful helpline and being in the queue for 20 minutes, and listening to a recorded message repeatedly telling me "we are experiencing high call volumes" (why am I not surprised) I got told they lost it in the post and there were no other items to send in their warehouse... Thank you very much for contacting me and telling me this information... And they won't even refund the money back to my bank account. I now have Groupon "credit" which I will never use and won't get my money back... Absolutely useless, waste of time and money - SHAM of a company. I advise everyone to never use this disgraceful company... This is also the message I left on their FB page in which I received a reply stating my complaint had been passed onto the UK team to look into.... Almost a week ago and still NOTHING! Worst customer service I have ever experienced... And I'm still £19 out of pocket and I've had to buy a replacement gift from elsewhere for double the price... I cannot stress this anymore, don't ever purchase from these people, they are thieving pigs
I ordered an ottoman bed and memory mattress from groupon website.they gave me a tracking number to track my order.I tracked the order with the tracking details it shows delivered in a safe place. When I got home I couldn't see my order or any card left by courier. I phoned them the next day to ask them the whereabouts of my item they said that they cant see any update from their system that I should give them 3 to 5 working to find out the whereabouts of the bed.I emailed them to refund my money back to me then I got a reply that they have an update for Me that the bed has not been dispatched ,I should give 5 working days to deliver the bed.the next day i received a text that the will deliver the bed on 15 Jan 2013 .up till now the bed has not been delivered.
My son bought me a supercar day out for Christmas , after New year tried to phone the car company to book a date as there is a time limit on the voucher , we called every day sometimes twice and three times a day for over a week the only reply was " please hang up " . My son got back in touch with Groupon they said they would try to get in touch with the company and would get back to him within 2weeks , phoned Groupon today and nobody had done anything about it even though the call had been logged, but said my son would receive an e-mail on Tuesday telling him whether or not he would get his money back. The voucher was bought end of Nov.2013 so when he asked for a refund they said seven days had lapsed so he was not automatically entitled to a refund, seems like we are getting the run around. Will be in touch with OFT if I don't get satisfaction .
Worst company ever. I paid for a coffee maker and groupon were happy enough to take my money however I waited a month to get it and it didn't appear so after countless emails back and forth I was told that they would not refund me the money even though they had not placed my order. I will never use this company ever again. BEWARE OF THEIR SNIDE TACTICS. Because they are a middle man they can get away with not giving you the money back !!!
I purchased a getaway break through Groupon, only after booking and paying did I realise it was actually cheaper to book directly with the company as they had offers on.
I contacted Groupon via the phone, spoke to a gentleman who refunded my money right there and then, took around 3 minutes to sort put my issue! So overall I have no complaints, I would always recommend calling a company to resolve issues as e-mails tend to be a waste of time with big companies.
I ordered an ottoman bed through Groupon that was sold through their sister company Groupon Goods Global GmbH. Two large boxes arrived, marked 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 which I unpacked ready to assemble the various parts. It was only at that point that I realised that most of the parts were missing. Groupon's responses are shocking. They will point-blank not even consider trying to track the missing boxes, or to send replacement boxes or to resend the whole order. They will also not issue any refund until I re-pack all the parts in boxes and send them back. So I need to take another day off work to wait for the couriers. And I need to go out and buy packing tape and spend a couple of hours re-packing everything. At the end of which I will be out of pocket and have no bed. Groupon do not appear to care at all about customer service. They couldn't have been less helpful. Be warned - don't buy anything sold by Groupon Goods Global GmbH!
Groupon sent me a £10 discount token. Great stuff, I thought, and purchased a Steam Generator Iron priced at £35.99 and tried to use the token. No luck. My Paypal account was debited by the full £35.99. I contact Customer Services and was told by email (Shapna R) that their had been a glitch with the £10 token and if I reordered the iron the would ensure it was taken off the reorder. Then then they would cancel my original order. Having done as instructed I checked Paypal to find I had once again been charged the full price. Back to Customer Services (Shapna R) who confirmed that I had indeed purchased 2 irons at the full price. That was the last I heard from Customer Services, in spite of half a dozen emails to them asking what's going on. THEY JUST DON'T REPLY - AARG!!! So now I am the reluctant owner of 2 irons at a total cost of £71.98, when all I wanted was one iron at the £10 off price of £25.99. Incidentally I did try phoning but that just resulted in being taken round in circles and no personal contact with anyone. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. Their Customer Services are friendly enough until a problem rears its head and then - NOTHING.
I can totally sympathise with the previous negative reviews. I have ordered a few various products via Groupon with similar experiences. One product never arrived, one arrived damaged (thanks chiefly to Hermes - avoid them too) and I currently await another which has gone missing in action, though Groupon insist it has been despatched. I'm not a glutton for punishment: all these orders were made around the same time, but I would never use Groupon again. The predictable responses given by their customer services team at the end of some of these reviews mirror those I have had ... "Sincere apologies, we will look into this for you...." etc ... Their patronising replies are made without any genuine sincerity, substance or intent to resolve your problems. And despite my repeated requests, they have not provided any contact details for a senior member of staff at Groupon, or at Photo Direct - one of the faceless and shady companies they use to sell electrical goods. They also gave me a fictitious tracking number which Royal Mail confirmed did not exist. The most recent email I received from Groupon was to declare that it will take a MINIMUM OF TEN WORKING DAYS to receive a response from the supplier (Photo Direct) with a decision as to whether or not they will authorise a refund on the item I haven't received. Only then will Groupon deal with any refund request. You couldn't make it up. Never heard such nonsense in my life. This contravenes both the Distance Selling Regulations and The Sale of Goods Act. I appreciate it takes a lot of time and effort to pursue these 'rogue traders' but I am fortunately in a good position to do so. Keep your eyes peeled for media features on our erstwhile friends at Groupon. I doubt they will be full of testimonies to what a fine bunch of fellows they are.
Would NEVER use Groupon Good Global GmbH again, they wrongly advertised a product (was meant to be wireless headphone they weren't wireless) the customer service is shocking, don't get back to you, I'm yet to hear anything (2 emails and 4 calls later!) they are refusing to send me the product I paid for, saying it's a stock issue when I paid for that product. DO NOT USE - unless you want to be scammed and then messed around!
Bought a Segway trip for my brother and sister in law for Christmas - came to book the trip after purchasing the voucher, and there were no spaces left before the expiry date! £80 and we can't even use them! Tried calling Groupon and got stuck in such a long queue it was ridiculous!!! VERY ANNOYED!
I'm sure the offers on non-tangible goods are ok but buying an actual product is a nightmare. Really bad quality and poor after care. I never even got my money back on a watch that lasted a week. I'm pretty sure they have no warehouse, stock or idea of how ecommerce works. Stay clear if buying goods and you wont be disappointed. I will never buy from them again..
Each item I have bought through this site it has broken within the first week of using. I have no issue with customer service of either Groupon or the related companies however it is clear to me that poor quality goods are advertised rather than the high quality 'expensive' goods people believe they are getting a good deal on. Obviously the companies can't sell these goods without massive discounts. I have now deleted my account!
Having used groupon several times I have yet to experience any problems with goods or customer service, from jewellery to toys, gadgets you name it I have been happy. On the one occasion when an item never arrived,I emailed customer service, received a swift response and a refund into my account within a few days. Will continue to use.
I bought a voucher for a bed frame and returned the voucher next day. I called numerious times and the customer service was hard to go through. They did not have a record to proof I had returned the voucher. It is already over 2 months now and I still did not receive the refund. I suggest people do not use this website. It is very unreliable and inefficient. Probably it is a scam. If anyone know how to take legal action, please let me know. Ths

Only to find tucked away after purchase in the small print it's for Poole!!
I feel I was mis-sold and deceived into thinking that as the deal was in a London South email the deal would be as well.
I have phoned groupon twice and eventually got through both times after about 10-15 minutes, the first time the lady even said they have had a lot of calls about this, the second call the guy said he would look into it.
I did get an email basically saying tough they did suggest I give it to someone who lives in that area! how kind of them!
It's the principal more than the money so I'm off to email OFT
Ordered a christmas present off here which I returned the next day as it was clearly not worth the price stated and now im having a nightmare trying to get my money back off them! Customer services answer questions you havent asked and none of the actual ones you ask them! After a month of constantly contacting them they then ask for proof of postage which i already sent to them! They have no tracking on their "free" returns and it seems to me the reason for this is so they can pretend its not been received and rip you off. Absolutely disgusted with how they treat you and i will be taking legal action!
