I bought a voucher for a coffee machine. After a couple of months it stopped working.
Went to the manufacturers who directed me to the seller. Seller ignored me. Contacted Groupon who said they would contact seller for a returns authorisation after which I would get a refund, but that it would be a minimum of ten working days before I would hear anything from the seller. After this period, having heard nothing, I contacted Groupon again. This time they agreed to a refund and indeed repaid me.
So far so good, except that I was still £5.99 short for the postage. I asked the seller for my money. no reply, I asked Groupon to ask the seller on my behalf. In fact I had to ask three times before they would even answer my question, and the answer was no, they would not ask the seller to refund me.. So several emails later both to Groupon and the Seller and I'm still short of the postage.
Not a lot I know but I don't see why I should stand the loss. Groupon should be ashamed of themselves. I won't be using them again.
Bought a Night-Time and Low Light Photography Course for 19£ from Sapphire Studio Reading. Tired of reaching that Business to get an appointment, and then realised that business is closed. and when i contacted Groupon customer care people said coupon is expired we can't do anything. buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 19£ gone in water.
Bough 9.98£ Voucher for 8 Months lovefilm instance movie watch , Used that groupon code while registering in lovefilm.
After 2 months realized that Lovefilm charging me 4.99£/month .
Called Lovefilm and then they said, we have not received your groupon code and hence post completing one month free we started charging you and then they said why can't you contact Groupon.
Contacted Groupon and then they said your voucher expired and we can't do anything.
Buzzzz 9.98£ gone with the wind.
Overall Groupon really sucks and they are fooling people.
Its not even worth for a single star also.
I purchased a Groupon last year for a weekend retreat as a gift for my mother and I. When we arrived we were appalled to find that you were forced to engage in all aspects of the weekend whether you liked it or not, for example group meditation when we preferred to take a prayer walk. Also they refused to allow us any private time. It was almost cultish.
In addition their was serious health and safety concerns with exposed electrics in the treatment rooms, which were not at all private. We were forced to take treatments together with people that we didn't know, and up until after 11pm at night! Needless to say we left after the first night and booked ourselves into a hotel up the road. We tried to speak to the owner before we left but she was dismissive.
When we returned home we contacted Groupon and they agreed to provide us with a full refund if we would accept a credit note on the account or the offer of a full investigation if we wanted a cash refund, which would take a little longer. As a regular Groupon user I was happy to take the credit note.
I would have given them 5 stars, except it did take several weeks for the refund to be processed and for some reason it came in small instalments into my account. But otherwise I was very happy with the way they dealt with it.
I tried giving no stars but it won't let me - that's all they deserve....they've given me the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I ordered a pair of touch screen gloves through Groupon on 11th Nov from Roolyn (who have been as dismal in terms of customer service – or lack of it).and received an email back from Roolyn saying that my order was confirmed and they'd e-mail me to get my full address.
It's now 30th December and nothing. I've emailed Roolyn regularly and tried phoning them – number on website discountinued – and been completely ignored !. I’ve taken my complaint to Groupon therefore at least 7-8 times and they've been equally as useless - they've come back to me three times saying they cannot find the order DESPITE me giving them the email from Roolyn with order number and last 4 digits of credit card and when the £5 was taken out of my account. I’m now missing £5 and no gloves.
Groupon have been absolutely hopeless in this matter and now completely ignore me so, if you want to gamble on losing your money then use them. I never will again as their service is just as appalling - and, no, I'm not going to ring you, Groupon, at £1.53 a minute !! You obviously want to avoid customers with complaints which is what you've done with me. So...use KGBdeals, Dealcloud or others but avoid Groupon !!

I'm sick of Groupon. It seems they are now scraping the barrel to get companies to sign up to offer a deal. I have purchased several deals in the past. O Spa never delivered, Groupon didn't want to know and refused to refund. Other beauty deals reasonable but staff moan about how badly Groupon treats them so you end up feeling bad for them and giving a huge tip so no discount there then, restaurants - hit & miss, usually struggling businesses trying to drum up business and when you get your meal you know why. Now it seems to be only Indian restaurants offering deals. My biggest gripe is when a company fails to honour Groupon don't want to know. I find now that many of the deals and available cheaper on Amazon, Ebay or online. I've also used KGB deals, no problems getting customer support or refunds with them.
We have written a complaint on Groupon's UK page after being fobbed off as nothing to do with them. This con has cost us just shy of £500!
Hi Groupon. We are deeply disappointed in the way you have handled our complaint about KPX Travel/iflyholidays Post (ticket #3489044). We reported that they booked a holiday for us that we had not agreed along with insulting us when we asked for clarification on the deal followed by hanging up on us and processing our card details without consent. The operator also lied to us about a supposed luggage upgrade to our hand luggage (5kg to 10kg) and we have recently discovered this is not possible (another lie the operator told us to get another £78). We got the response from you recently that you spoke to KPX Travel and they said we had confirmed the details and as the vouchers had been processed (again without our consent) you have no further involvement. I am a regular user of Groupon as you can see from my account but will not buy anything again after this bad experience and will be advising others NOT to buy any travel/holidays as this one is a con. (please also note that the hotel has not been booked for the dates we have been told)!
I have bought several vouchers via Groupon and all has been fine except for three car reversing sensors. Fitted one and it was useless so I tried to advise the dealer who supplied them. No response so I emailed Groupon customer service and received reply almost at once.
After following their advice regarding the dealer I still got nowhere so Groupon said they would contact the dealer for me. Still no dealer response so Groupon offered to pay my refund in full and said they would look into the dealership issue.
My experience of Groupon customer service was first class...extremely quick and they took responsibility by offering me the refund.
I have no hesitation in using Groupon based on this experience.
I purchased a voucher from groupon for 6 treatments of IPL costing approx £129. however after my first treatment, the beauticians were clearly RIPPING ME OFF by placing restrictions on the treatment areas just so i would buy extra treatments for those areas they should be doing with the voucher i purchased. after my 1 AND ONLY TREATMENT i contacted groupon and requested a refund of my voucher. They told me to contact the beauticians to request refund although i had tried that by emailing and leaving them messages, which they did not respond to. groupon agreed to contact the beauticians on my behalf and over a week later told me i could not get a refund as this had to be approved by the beauticians!! groupon offered me £10 voucher instead!!! i was INSULTED, OFFENDED, and DISMAYED by GROUPON'S decision. they expected the beauticians to agree they were ripping me off, for me to get a refund, which is LUDICROUS and ABSURD. Groupon are quite happy to take your money and to affiliate themselves with businesses that are UNSCRUPULOUS, AND UNPROFESSIONAL. poor service costs me £129.00 but costs groupon only £10!!
DO NOT BUY VOUCHERS FROM GROUPON. THEY USE CROOKED, DECEITFUL DODGY BUSINESS LEAVING CUSTOMERS AT THEIR MERCY.
I bought a pair of shoes at a remarkable discount. Received the shoes, didn't fit.
Now as anyone will know who shops online, the usual procedure is that you let the company know the shoes didn't fit, and they come and collect them whilst delivering another pair. I had no clue how to get a refund with Groupon, so I contacted them and a week or so later I got an email requesting details and to reply back to firstname.lastname@example.org (or something like that) and then a week later I was informed I had sent it to the U.S groupon (even though I DID send it to the UK) so I emailed the UK again.
After a lot of timely and annoying back-and-fro I eventually got the info I needed to contact the vendor. The vendor then informed me that I would be charged to send my shoes back as the postage would be at my own expense.
This was about 5 weeks after receiving my shoes and to avoid hassle I never returned them. Groupon need to make sure they have the vendors refund policy clearly stated on GROUPONS website, and have a more efficient help system.
I am very dissapointed and will never buy from them again in fear of not liking the product. The good deals are countered by the rubbish service. BEWARE.
I've been a customer for several years and never had any problems redeeming my vouchers or getting a credit if I wasn't able to use the voucher in time or for some other reason. Saved myself hundreds of pounds and experienced new things and places to boot.
have saved SO much money buying Groupon Deals. Bought at least 50 over the last couple of years. Make sure you adjust the settings for your personal preference of offer, PLUS how often you would prefer to receive offers or you will be emailed all offers available.
I use Groupon a lot, and have no complaints. I save a fortune when going to the hairdresser, and I must admit, I thought I might be treated as second class due to the Groupon coupon, but found just the opposite.
However, one hairdresser was constantly being interrupted with phone calls from irate ladies, who could not make an appointment before their coupon expired, due to the salon being fully booked. This was not Groupon's fault, and not the hairdresser's fault, but that of the customers, who had bought the coupons, and kept them for too long before making an appointment. My advice, to save disappointment, is to make the appointment as soon as possible after purchase.
I've been using Groupon for well over a year now and have only ever had a good experience with them.
I've bought several Groupon vouchers for many services.
Now, some of the services aren't as I hoped they would be, however that wasn't Groupon's fault! But rather the service provider.
I have a feeling that people writing negative reviews have issues with the service providers, rather than Groupon.
I know that many people complain they can't book a particular service as the company only accepts x-amount of Groupon coupon users per day/week/month.
But in my opinion that is the service provider's fault and mismanagement, rather than Groupon.
Anyway, back to Groupon.
A few months ago I was hospitalised and many of my Groupon vouchers expired before I could use them.
When I contacted customer services to explain, I was immediately offered a full refund on any that had not yet expired - or credit to my account for those that had.
My overall experience with using Groupon vouchers have been flawless. And on that basis, I'll happily recommend them.
My advice is, research the service provider you're buying a voucher for. If there is no existing feedback on the company, approach with caution and know that you're taking a chance on your purchase.
I was previously unaware of the Groupon concept and the discounts and value that was available with them in the marketplace. How long have I been missing out? The range and scope of deals available is immense and I find myself checking the Groupon website with alarming reguarlity (to the detroment of my work...thanks Groupon). I have only positive things to say of the high level of customer care and attention I recieved; Recommend to all.
Would have given Zero stars if it would let me. They leech off the backs of business and take all the profit for themselves! They encourage buisness to offer rediculuos discounts of which they take half and run the business into the ground! Shame on you Groupon!!
You know the measure of a company when something goes wrong with an order, they where let down by one of the company deals. Groupon contacted me straight away and offered me my money back or they would try and source a replacement. I went for the replacmet and Good enough the replacement was here within days. Well done to everyone at Groupon had some fantatic deals. Keep up the good work.
I've heard the moans & groans, but my husband and I've been buying through Groupon forabout 2 years now. Enjoyed fabulous discounts on goods, dinners, trips, entertainment, salon treatments and even gifts. On one occasion I found the product purchased unsuitable for me, the merchant refunded my p/p and Groupon credited me in full. I think sometimes the supplier of the goods maybe is too greedy when they sign up, and then, when the offer sells TOO well they can't supply; that's not Groupon's fault!
well, i can't speak for groupon UK, but in the US, the groupon products that are offered are great! i've purchased more than a dozen groupons and every place i've purchased for has honored them. (compared to other horror stories i've read from other 'imitation' groupons')
The daily deal companies are what they are - and sometimes the products or services aren't what you might have hoped for - although generally they are exceptional value for money. It helps to understand that demand will usually be high - so you might be in for a long wait either to get your product or be able to book an appointment. I use a few daily deal sites and Groupon customer service has always been far superior to the others and i am happy to recommend them.
True bargains on Groupon are rare... this company hype up deals. Just search around, you'll usually find comparable deals with better service. If it does all go wrong they refuse a refund and insist on crediting your account (credits expire in 12 months) so they've always got your money.
Poor due diligence conducted on partner companies, I guess they are desperate for deals.
Have used this company twice for discount vouchers against central heating servicing form companies advertising on their pages. After contacting these companies and quoting my voucher codes, they couldn't even be bothered turning up. I think a lot of companies that advertise on here are about to go out of business. Not Groupons fault I know, but I wonder if these companies are doing this to get a little free advertising at the expense of Groupon. Groupon did eventually refund my money after complaining to them but when some items they advertise cost in the hundreds I wouldn't risk losing this amount of money. I have lost trust in using this website and have unsubscribed.
On the whole I have found the deals on Groupon to be worth going for. However, I have noticed that on quite a lot of the deals you can get the items at other online and store retailers for the same 'discounted' price. I do not buy a groupon voucher now without checking out other websites to see what I can get it for.
