My wife bought a cream tea experience & tried to book it for fathers day only to be declined by the venue on the grounds that 'they were only allowing paying customers to eat there on fathers day' she then explained 'you groupon people don't understand that we don't make money from these offers' !!!
Well it's not my fault that the venue was stupid enough to make a loss & they didn't have any conditions on their offer either i.e. excludes fathers day or bank holidays etc. and the attitude of the venue manager just stank. She made us feel like some kind of second class citizens.
We'll never go there again and we'll never use Groupon either as they wouldn't refund us but only offered us a credit.
I can't btch about Groupon as a company but nearly half the time the merchant has failed to delliver in some way so I no longer spew my earnings into them as I perhaps once did!
To be absolutely fair they DO always give you your money back & hopefully give the errant merchants a stern look
After just deleting my account with Groupon I am glad to see the end of my dealings with them. In 6 months they failed to meet 4 of my orders which I had paid for due to not managing their offers and getting overloaded with orders. When you book restaurant deals you end up settling for a meal out on a Tuesday because they are fully booked with so many groupons, I had Christmas presentys not delivered with was very disappointing. Each time I also had a hard job getting my money back as they keep offering you Groupon vouchers, and when you come to de-activate this rubbish account you have to contact customer services through email. Avoid these deals or find yourself let down, disappointed and angry!

I absolutely love this company and plan most of my outings around what deals I've purchased. It's such a great way to save money as a student, but still go to new and interesting places - and the discounted beauty treatments are lifesavers!
We ordered 2 large beanbags after buying a deal through groupon for buyyourbeanbags.co.uk. was stated that delivery was 6 weeks and this order was placed and paid for on 5th march 2012/ To date still no beanbags and keep getting fobbed off about our purchase. Have contacted groupon who tell me that i have to take it with the company who makes the beanbags but yet groupon is the site that i went through. After researching about this deal it seems every single person that bought this same deal are having the exact same problems as myself and i feel that groupon are responsible for making sure that the client is looked after and they should not be continuing to offer this deal with this company and they are not able to fulfill the previous orders from customers such as myself let alone new customers......this is a total rip off and i will NEVER use groupon again. if i could give 1 star i would but i have to put atleast 1.....honestly it would be minus
I do get a lot of emails from groupon (at least 2 a day, sometimes up to 5). I think their emails should be more targeted and specific. I don't want to have to sift through tens of offers to find the ones most suited to me. Surely you can ask for more information in the user profile and then choose offers accordingly?
On a more positive note, the offers are usually pretty good. I've taken advantage of a couple of them.
Have had a few bargains from Groupon now, but have also been left disappointed with their system.
I recently tried to order some memory foam pillows only to get to the end of my order and be told it hadn't gone through. I emailed Groupon who told me my payment had gone through and that I'd be getting my voucher ASAP. Four days later I still hadn't received anything so I emailed them again to be told my order had actually failed and that they would issue me a refund.
So I not only missed out on the deal, I then had to wait two weeks to get my money back!!
Now I'm wary about using them again...
Were it not for Infurn, you would have a 1, but since that set a precedent and you have done better than them you gain that elusive extra star.
Same story as a lot of others on here, paid for a beanbag and received nothing. My girlfriend ordered it for me for Christmas but it never showed up, so didn't even turn out to be an Easter gift. This has since been refunded to her account, along with a "goodwill gesture" of £12.95 in groupon credit to cover the delivery cost we're unlikely to get back from the company in question. While I appreciate the gesture, it's too little, far far too late.
We had NO contact from you at all to inform us of any problems with this deal. While I appreciate that it's easy to lay on the supplier (and indeed I consider this mostly their fault) you still have a responsibility to keep us informed, especially when you issued the refunds.
All that said, I appreciate the quick responses via email. It's more than I've had from Infurn. I also appreciate you not talking to me until you had approval from the account holder. Nice to know you take data protection seriously.
I've just started using Groupon and I like the overall concept but their E-Mail marketing is utterly relentlessly, non-stop. Every morning I wake up and notice that I've received 4-6 E-Mails through the night all from Groupon...and yes, I do check my E-Mails before I get out of bed!!
If you like offers (spam) sign up. The offers aren't really any better than elsewhere, and if you buy something and aren't satisfied - tough (you can take it up with the vendor and that's it). Why would you want spam on pre-purchase products? Once you've paid you have no recourse!

I've had a few good buys via Groupon, and on the few occasions I've had a problem, they've been quite responsive. Too often though, you see "bargains" in their daily offer, that you can find just as cheaply elsewhere.
i am yet to receive a response from a querie i made after having experienced an awfull day out on one of the groupon deals to mini moos farm in north tyneside. i have sent the same query to them via email 6 times now and still have not had a response. TERRIBLE service..!!!!!
If you asked me last year to review Groupon I would have said 4/5, but much has happen since then. I love a deal/bargain but now they are a thing of the past. Groupon have withheld my money when the deal has fell through and only offered Groupon credits after a lot of emailing and threatening to set paypal on to them. Whats all the P&P on deals now???
Purchased a yoga retreat back in October, booked to go in March. Turned up at the venue to find it locked up and closed. Contacted Groupon to be informed that the company had gone bust the day before, mass email sent to all purchasers (still to be received) and telephone call made to me (an absolute lie as no record of call being received or missed). In fairness I did get the money credited back to my card however my friend and I wasted a day travelling to and from the venue (so loss of earnings and petrol money) and needed to find another activity to use with our holiday days. Groupon could not help with this either so we had to find an alternative which cost us lots more than our original trip. Trying to get a response from Customer Service was impossible without having to shame them into it on Facebook. Would appear that if you post on their Facebook page you get shunted up the list of customers that need responding to. Saying that, I sent a response to their e-mail on 8 March and still not heard back. Really can't see that I would buy from Groupon again. I did buy something from Wowcher recently and their customer service was excellent. Problem solved within 15 minutes of me raising it. Groupon could do well to learn lessons from Wowcher.
As with many contributors below - I have ended up with an inferior product (bl**dy single skin beanbag and polystyrene beads everywhere) delivered months late, missed christmas, had to purchase extra gift for child.
My main concern is that Groupon is not taking responsibilty for Infurn's failure to respond to customers needing delivery charge refund.
Groupon do not seem recognise that this, combined with all the other bad press at the moment is damaging their reputation beyond belief.
I bought a photobook through them which was excellant value for money. I was pleased with it It was just as described. I have bought one item which was not quite as agreed but it was evedent that that was the supplier of the item and not groupon. I think you have to be careful with reading the details but. I have had some good value from them
