[external reference] would have been cheaper
Rented a car for a holiday in Portugal through [external reference], but the fulfilment was handled through Interrent. I did not mind the shuttle trip to the Interrent office that was about 10 minutes away from Lisbon airport. The rental office was actually nice, clean with clean toilet facilities and a shaded area where you would wait for your car to be ready. However, as other reviewers have already pointed out, the policy of charging you 96 EUR for a full tank of diesel and the fact that you can return it empty is a real scam. I had a Renault Clio TDI (which apparently had a 60 litre tank) and did not manage to use more than 1/4 of the tank in 10 days (it was a very efficient car!) - which meant that they basically made about 70 EUR profit just on the diesel. I questioned the policy and they said that petrol is "very, very expensive in Portugal" - yet I had been to Germany the week before and filled an empty Audi Q5 tank for 75 EUR. I actually checked with [external reference], who don't have this policy in place, and all in all would have been cheaper off renting through them.
