# Kept in the dark for 9 days
I recently purchased a few LED light bulbs as I was happy with how my first order with LightRabbit went in terms of dispatching and delivery, but I did not get a confirmation email. There should be no reason why these automated emails are not sent to customers that just completed a purchase. All I got was the confirmation email PayPal sent me after completing the transaction.
Waited for a day, but the email was not sent to me, so I sent an email to email@example.com, and due to the lack of response after 3 days I had to contact them by phone. I was advised my delivery would be sent shortly and that an email with the tracking number would be sent. After a few more days, I had to call them back again, and got the same information. Waited a couple of days and called back again, when I was kindly advised my delivery would be sent urgently the next morning and an email with the tracking number would be sent. Since that didn't happen either, I had to send a final email which at last triggered a response from the LightRabbit team, which provided me with the tracking number for my delivery.
I appreciate the assistance on the phone as the Sales reps were kind to help, but didn't find reassuring not receiving a confirmation email on completing my purchase or a quick email letting me know there were some delays due to an increased demand or something else.
# Misleading information
My first order was a number of "60 SMD Glass Covered - 4.5 Watt GU10 LED Bulbs (50W Equivalent)" (http://www.lightrabbit.ie/60-smd-glass-covered-4-5-watt-gu10-led-bulb-40w-equivalent.html). At first I thought I would be able to replace my 50W GU10 halogen lamps with these, but after I did it, I was shocked to find how the amount of light in my living room went from acceptable to unacceptable. Upon some basic investigation I think the problem is the "50W equivalent" tag is added based on the number of lumens (i.e. this LED light bulb has the same number of lumens as a 50W halogen), which is how luminous flux is measured, so when a given amount of flux is spread over a bigger surface, the actual intensity decreases as physics dictates. Indeed, the beam angle for a halogen could be 30º but for this LED is 120º so the luminous intensity is significantly lower. This information should be clearly provided in the page as otherwise stating that these light bulbs are equivalent to 50W halogens is misleading to the regular customer that will be comparing luminous intensity not flux.
- Upgrading to 3 stars as although 9 days in the dark is not ideal, I eventually got my order.
- Would still appreciate if the webpage clarifies how the 50W equivalency is established and if an illumination pattern for each lightbulb is provided to understand how the light is distributed. This would have helped me compare the intensity of the light at a given height to confirm if the chosen bulb meets my requirements.
The service from Lightrabbit is really good - fast and reliable. I recently bought an 8 Watt E27 classic bulb for my bathroom. It actually seems a lot brighter than 60W equivalent. It's a big too big to fit the cover back onto to light fitting, but no matter, the light is good and I'm saving money!
after searching endless sites for the lighting products we needed at the right price we eventually found our light at the end of the tunnel when we found the Lightrabbit site; first class service, first class products, and first class prices, so now we can save you hours of searching, just go straight to Lightrabbit for total satisfaction
GU10 led lamps are very good. I chose 120 degree version to cover more space as standart halogen ones were not givin enoug light in the kitchen. New led ones are covering whole space and using only 12 watts instead of 150! Now can leave light on for my 3 year old daughter.
As regarding lightrabbit. Transaction was very smooth and delivery was fast to Ireland from UK. Product quality is very high and prices are also very good. For same price you would buy "eco" 35W halogens here.
I bought a range of bulbs, and ended up returning most either because the light output was poor, they didn't dim when sold as dimmable, or failed (three out of 4 G9s failed within two weeks!). The returns process was tedious and very slow.
Whilst I have used a few LED lighting companies, the service from Lightrabbit could be better. The plus points the service was quick and when I did have a problem they responded fast. On the minus side they sent me the wrong lamps and missed off some of the order. Which meant that I have had to go out package up the box spend money resend back which takes time out of your day. This is one of the problems with internet shopping I understand but never the less frustrating.
Everything delivered very promptly as ordered.
Ordered LED lamps on 26 Sept. No delivery by 2 Oct, so asked what was happening. Told lamps were not in stock, but would arrive on 4 Oct and should arrive by 8 Oct. It's now after 6pm on 9 Oct and still no delivery. And the order status on the web site is still "pending", so the lamps have obviously not been dispatched yet. And you've had the cheek to debit my credit card on 26 Sept. I'm awarding only one star rating because you've taken payment from my credit card before shipping and I consider that unacceptable.
I took the plunge and converted all my halogen downlights to LED equivalents, approx. 45 in number. So far the swap has been worthwhile with much brighter ambient tight and a huge dip in the heat generated/ energy used. No other company seemed to provide 120degree spread /36 element LEDs at an equivalent price.
Delivery, price and range were outstanding so now we just wait to see if they last!
I've only ordered twice, but each time I was sent the wrong bulbs. They did send the correct ones by next day delivery, and asked me to return the other bulbs. I was told I'd get the postage returned to me, after sending the bulbs back, but it took several emails, over the course of a week or so, to be told that my refund would be processed.
I was doubtful about all this, but the whole system was fairly simple, fast and efficient, just a shame the bulbs that I bought don''t fit where I wanted but I can use them elsewhere in my house, good service, I will more than likely use your company again
The GU 10s I ordered arrived very promptly, but unfortunately one of them was warm white instead of cool white as ordered. I emailed the company and the correct one arrived by return.
Mistakes can happen, but what is important to me is how the company responds. In this case, they passed with flying colours and I would have no hesitation in buying from them again.
these guys make it even work for us in the US even though we can't get the free shipping they offer in the mother country.... I'll continue to use them. Time issues with the time zone change make communication difficult at times, but they do follow up and make things happen. don't hesitate to buy from this company just because they live across the big pond!
Great product and price. Only problem was my order got lost in the system and if i hadn't chased it would probably still be there. On the plus side, when i brought it to their attention, it was dealt with immediately.
well, given led's are fairly new to the market the explanation on dimmable LED's needs to be far far better than it is on this (or frankly any other) websites. You just cannot use dimmable led's with older style dimmer switches. The site states you can use these with "most but not all" dimmer switches. I'd suggest the wording should be "virtually none".
The technical detail is that most older dimmer switches are "leading edge" dimmers. Generally they need a minimum of 40w or sometimes 25 w to make them work. My light fitting with 5*40w bulbs was fine, but replace with 5* 3w LED Bulbs - doesn't work! You need "trailing edge" dimmers for LEDS (but even then you need a minimum load of 10w) These are more expensive generally and whilest you might have one, most houses will have the cheaper type.
This should be made clear to people rather than leaving them to find out the hard way :-(
Ordered bulbs to value of £109. Account debited on day of order. Waited 5 days - nothing.
Phoned - recorded message telling me to e-mail.
E-mailed; swift response, apologising - out of stock. Website not able to show items as out of stock. Advised could phone to speak direct - again phone number given just gives recorded message inviting you to e-mail.
E-mailed cancelling order - now hoping I will get my money back promptly!
