I've been very short sighted the whole of my adult life having first worn glasses from the age of eight. In my early 30's my eyesight was continuing to deteriorate to the point where I'd become -11.5 in my worst eye. All I could see without my glasses were fuzzy large blobs of colour; without them I couldn't do anything. Even the expensive 'thin' lenses still came out thick with my prescription and it had gotten to the point where contact lenses were uncomfortable, due to their thickness, and I could no longer wear them.
I had always been scared of the thought of surgery, but when I realised I couldn't wear contact lenses anymore I decided I would be brave and go for it. I visited two major providers of eye surgery and Moorfields eye hospital, but was told by all that because of my very high prescription they couldn't carry out laser surgery on my eyes.
I was in despair when my Mum sent me an article about the London Vision Clinic (LVC) and a woman with a similar prescription whom they'd operated on with success. I travelled to London for my first consultation and from the first time I walked through the door of LVC they were brilliant. The staff were all very polite, helpful and efficient. They gave me a very thorough examination together with several scans and were able to advise what they could do for me. They answered all my questions and never put me under pressure to proceed unless I was sure I wanted to. They also offered an interest free loan to pay for treatment which made affording surgery possible for me.
I did decide to go ahead and I met with my surgeon Prof Reinstein before the surgery to discuss my tailored treatment type and what to expect during and after the surgery. I was also given further thorough pre-operative testing. On the day of the surgery I was extremely well looked after, seeing a nurse beforehand who took me through preparation for the surgery and gave clear detailed instructions for aftercare in the first week and beyond. I was given a pack to take home which included the instructions and antibiotic drops etc. I was given a massage to help relax me and it helped a lot. The surgery itself self only took 15 minutes for both eyes and I didn't feel any pain at all. Prof Reinstein was reassuring from start to finish so I always knew what was happening and felt comforted. There was no pain at all. I didn't need the post-operative painkillers. Post-operative discomfort was minimal and this discomfort came because my eyes were sensitive to daylight/bright light/the computer screen particularly for the first two days and this calmed down a lot after two weeks.
Moving onto the result - well that is amazing! As soon as I opened my eyes after surgery I could already see much better than I have since I was a child. It's now 15 months after my surgery and I have 20/20 vision. It has completely changed my life. I felt miserable and blind before. Now I can see, I'm free of glasses and contact lenses and I'm comfortable all the time. I get constant enjoyment from being able to see in a way I could never have imagined. The London Vision Clinic made what could have been a traumatic experience, pleasant and comfortable. I felt I was in the hands of the best, and I was well looked after and completely re-assured by their expertise throughout. They have top surgeons, a wonderful staff, the clinic itself is very clean and pleasant, the pre and post-operative care was excellent and the ongoing aftercare too. I received a personal caring service from all staff including the surgeons who were lovely. I think this clinic is the best out there and I'm forever grateful for what they've done for me.
I cannot fault my experience with London Vision Clinic - from the initial consultations through to the procedure and post-op sessions, the staff were unfailingly professional, polite and friendly. Thanks to the patience and knowledge of the nurses, optometrists and the surgeon I felt extremely comfortable going into the procedure, knowing that I had a very comprehensive understanding of what the operation and recovery would be like . The surgery itself was very brief, and whilst it feels a little strange - Glenn talks you through step by step which keeps you very calm. After an afternoon with my eyes closed I was back at work the next day, and perfect vision soon after that. Their heritage and reputation speaks for itself, but I cannot recommend LOVC highly enough to anyone thinking about having this procedure.
My appointment at London Vision Clinic exceed my expectations. Upon entering the practice I was greeted by very friendly and professional staff. The nurses who took scans of my eyes were very patient and explained everything clearly so that I knew exactly what was going on and what each scan was for. The optometrist was very thorough and took her time going through all the information as well as conducting further tests. She also answered any questions I had an reassured me that I could contact her if I had any further questions once my appointment was over. The standard of service offered exceeded any other eye test or opticians I have ever visited. I was made to feel welcome and not put under any pressure and left feeling very satisfied and excited about having laser eye surgery. I would definitely recommended London Vision Clinic to anyone considering this procedure as not only were the staff at all levels fantastic but the clinic itself is of a very high standard.
I was worried about having laser eye surgery - I'm risk averse about anything like that and it took me ages from the initial appointment to make a final decision about whether to go ahead. I really appreciated that no-one pressurised me at any point and I always felt that I was given all the information I needed in a form that I could understand. You meet quite a few different members of staff as you go through the process and everyone - from the receptionist through to the surgeon - was courteous, thoughtful, and efficient. I'm very pleased with the results of the surgery and the aftercare process has made me feel confident that if there were any problems they could be dealt with. I really can't imagine a better or more professional service and I'd definitely recommend this company.
After years of thinking about having laser eye surgery I finally decided to go ahead this year. I was worried as my sister had her eyes done at one of the high street practices and she didn’t have a great experience. I was recommended by a friend to go to London Vision clinic. I thank her every day for recommending me to go to London Vision Clinic. The process is flawless! Everything from the first contact with my patient care coordinator who explained everything to me and could answer all my questions to the first visit in the clinic with the optometrist to the surgery and aftercare. Before having the procedure you spend about 3 hours in the clinic, they check everything. The optometrist explains everything in detail about the surgery and what happens after the surgery. After my appointment I had no concerns and I was excited about the surgery. I had the blended vision treatment with Mr Carp who I met before my surgery for a consultation. He made me feel at ease and he was so professional and friendly. The clinic is so cleaned and the atmosphere is very calming. All staff are so professional and I always look forward to coming back for my follow up appointments. I am now 2 months post op and my vision is amazing. I am 56 years old and my vision has never been better. This is the best decision I have ever made and I will recommend this clinic to everyone I know!!!
I was debating having laser eye surgery for a long time before taking the plunge. I called London Vision Clinic and from the get-go, their staff were fantastic! Very personal service; I spoke to the same customer adviser throughout the process, got to meet the surgeon prior to the surgery (who also tailor made the surgery to me) and had very in-depth pre-operative testing. Before the surgery all my fears were laid to rest, offered a massage and chocolates to relax, and can not believe how quick and easy it was! No discomfort or negative effects at all afterwards, this really was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Oh, and for any extremes like me out there, my prescription was -7 and -6.5 and I can now see perfectly!
i had my initial surgery in 2005 followed by 3 enhancement procedures in the subsequent 2 years. i have been left with poor contrast sensitivity, poor night vision (including starbursts) and dry eyes. what passes for acceptable vision in the eyes of laser surgery practitioners is personally not a satisfactory result. although i have complained about vision problems there has been no follow up care to help with the fitting of contact lenses - for which i am now seeking aid from moorfields eye hospital.
I've always had worries about getting my eye's done, it's one of those things you should never risk. You're only blessed with the two eyes in your lifetime so why take the risk?
I was utterly impressed with the service that I received at LVC, their one day test to see if I was compatible, another day to get you prepared, and the surgery itself was quick and painless.
Around 6pm the same day I got home, I received a text message from Dr.Glenn which offered assurance as well as a contact should I have any problems. I went in for the check up the day after, a week after and a year later - all quality service which I would suggest to others should they also wish to get this surgery done.
Based upon other reviews and information on the London Vision Clinic website I decided to call for an appointment for a comprehensive consultation. From this moment onwards you will be treated very respectful. The actual treatment (LASIK in my case) was completely painless and as long as you follow-up on the after treatment procedure without any discomfort. It has been a life changer for me, wearing glasses aged 6, with short-sightyness of -11 restored to a vision of 16/20 without any aid now. Amazingly, aged 44 now, still no need for wearing reading glasses after treatment. Many compliments to the customer care team. They are very proffessional and caring. Many, many thanks for a life changing experience.
I have worn glasses and contact lenses for 50 years, how much of my life have I spent cleaning lenses, taking them out, buying solutions, changing glasses, feeling on the floor for lost lenses, experiencing the acute discomfort of grit in my contact lensed eye, screwing my eyes up and realising that I'd got them in the wrong eyes. All in the past, now I wake up and go to sleep without all that rigmarole and discomfort. My life is so much more relaxed. And all this benefit without pain. I am delighted. Thankyou LVC.
Wanting desperately to be able to see again without the use of glasses doesn't mean that I wasn't petrified of the procedure but from the first assessment through to the final adjustment by Professor Reinstein I could not have wished for better care. Occasionally people will say that they could have the procedure for a quarter of the price, but my reply is always "I''ve only got two eyes and as they need to last me a lifetime I want the best care for them - don't you?!!"
I decided to have laser eye surgery a little over a year ago. After scouring through the many options available, London Vision Clinic stood head and shoulders above the rest due to their excellent reputation. The surgery itself was painless and with constant reassurance from my surgeon, Glenn Carp, and the other brilliant members of staff, the recovery time was remarkably quick.
Since the operation over a year ago, I have had no side effects or issues whatsoever. My eyesight has improved from being approximately shortsighted: minus 10 in each eye, to very slightly longsighted, which is reducing to the point that my vision is close to 20:20! I would strongly recommend London Vision Clinic to anyone who is considering having laser eye surgery.
I was blind and now I see... it has changed my life completely. I felt no discomfort during surgery and the whole procedure was over before I even knew it! I had my surgery a few weeks before my wedding and I must say, I'm so happy I did, as I saw my groom clearly! Best yet, I can't even recall how blurry my life used to be - thank you!
A few months ago I was in exactly the same situation as you, the reader of this review, researching about laser eye surgery and the different clinics and surgeons. The London Vision Clinic stood out for the service they offer, and the expertise they have. Professor Reinstein is one of the leading laser eye surgeons in the world, so whilst I was naturally nervous about the procedure, knowing that I was in the best possible hands was very reassuring. I can safely say that every single member of staff I encountered, from the receptionists, nurses, my optometrist, and Prof. Dan himself, were polite, friendly, and warm. They create a safe and relaxing environment and really put you at ease.
I had a keyhole Lasik procedure which is definitely the next generation of laser eye surgery. Rather than creating a flap, only a small incision is made. This means the healing process is a lot quicker than with standard Lasik. The actual operation is a lot quicker too as just one laser is used. There is absolutely no pain or discomfort, it's just a odd sensation. I was astonished as to how quickly it was all over.
Now the LVC may not be the cheapest place to have laser eye surgery, but that does not mean they are not value for money. The expertise and aftercare you receive are exemplary. I found it was the little touches that really stood out to me such as the text messages you receive from Prof. Dan after your surgery checking that everything is ok.
My one resounding thought after surgery was "That was scarily easy! Why don't more people have this done". It's crazy that such a life changing surgery is so quick, easy and painless. I have no trouble recommending the London Vision Clinic to anyone and everyone who wishes to have laser eye surgery. I cannot thank Prof. Dan and his team enough!
From the beginning until the end the service was 5 stars. All the staff were First class. The Clinic was out of this world. High- Tec. Comfortable No not comfortable Luxurious. I could not fault the LVC. Pre_ Care excellent After-care brilliant Finally the operation was a success Dr Dan is the best
