I am very dissapointed with PHS as they have been charging our company extortionate amount of money. The very first time we spoke to them they said per collection there will be a charge of £6.00 but once you enter a contract with them they start robbing you. Every month they have new charges and by the end of the year you end up paying around £1500.00 for just rubbish collection. Every two weeks they miss one or two collections when we call them they say we can only believe in the paper work of our driver and the driver had written in his book that the bin was not accessible. Such big liars and what sort of customer service is that? Today I just called the customer service and they say tomorrow they do not have any driver available and they will collection the rubbish on Sunday evening. Are these people working at PHS jerk they don't even know that no commercial property are open in Sunday. What is this timing of PHS...early hours in the morning or late evenings. I would never recommend anyone to PHS... I wish this company closes down asap..
We signed a years contract with PHS after comparing prices for different suppliers. We were given an example invoice of are likely costs, however within the first month we were soon being charged unexpected costs. I tried to phone but was repeatedly left on hold. I tried writing and got one charge credited. The bins were in poor condition , however the final straw was when we saw the drivers mix up both recycling bins and waste bins together. I wrote to cancel our contract , I believed that they had not delivered the service they had promised and therefore the contract was null and void. I emailed, faxed and phoned but no response other than you can't cancel the contract. We ignored everything as I felt I had used up enough time dealing with an incompetent company. We kept receiving invoices, direct debit instructions and then finally started receiving notice that they were stopping our service which we had not used for months. Eventually they came and collected their bins. They made no effort to collect outstanding debts until we were passed onto a debt recovery agency which surprise surprise is owned by PHS. I had the impression they are not at all interested in resolving an issue. I eventually agreed to pay £200 to settle an amount outstanding which they thought was £354.

I have been running a small newsagent in Harlow, Essex for the last 20 years, times are tough and I just about put food on the table for my family working 12 hours a day 7 days a week with one day off a year for Christmas.
In all my years in business I have never dealt with a company like PHS wastetech. I signed a 3 year contract with this company in July 2009 i was paying £35.58 a month which I thought was very reasonable. Within a few months the monthly costs start rising to where It went up to £167.24 a month I was really struggling to pay this. Not to mention the yearly landfill charges of nearly £300!!
2 months before the end of my contract after nearly 3 years of hell, I called them to say I no longer want to continue and wish to leave after the term of my contract was up. This is where the harassment started I was told aggressively that I can't leave that it was a rolling contract. I kept getting calls offering reduction in price and to sign up to another 3 years. I sent the countless emails and letters to ask them that I did not want to renew the contract.
They just would not listen, after my contract expired I signed a 1 year contract with another waste collection agency, but the harassment did not stop from PHS wastech, they sent me another letter stating that they have received my letter and my contract will expire in 2015!! They said they will take me to court if I leave before then.
This issue has really got me depressed I work on my own in the shop and just about make ends meet.
Please if you are thinking about using this company stay clear I wish I only read these reviews and did a bit of research before I went with these crooks. Really 1 star is too much there needs to be a lower rating just for them.
I'm not sure what will happen now but will see, "what goes around comes around" I guess.
So it takes a national radio show for PHS Wastetech to admit they are liars, cheats, bullies and con artists. Stop clogging up to courts and go bust already. Make way for a decent, honest company that actually delivers on its advertising instead of just ripping people off. This company is a JOKE and should close its door immediately.
The good points - erm... they have blue bins, if you like blue that is one point in their favour.
The bad points - everything, their service is appalling, they miss collections, the local depots are run by idiots, depot phone staff seem apologetic but managers don't bother to call back. Then head office / account is completely full of computer says no staff. Head office bill you and claim that the invoices are correct as the screen says so, local depots admit to missed collections but Head Office won't accept it. They then make up charges, increase charges etc. They refuse to communicate, send all correspondence by recorded letter keeping copies for court. Do a simple search for PHS Wastetech on the Google and you will see thousands of complaints - their own website was lower in the results as the many review sites and business forums for some time, then they have obviously employed some non-English speaking SEO company to make dummy websites to dilute the complaints and make up false reviews which are written so badly it's obvious that they are done people who do not have English as a first language, some sites that record the IP location with each entry show they come from India! Maybe they collect from India too, but as they can't mange London I doubt it very much.
We had at one point a debt collection agency call regarding the outstand payments, when we showed the evidence they laughed and said "don't worry we'll send them the account back to PHS we are not interested in your business".
Just keep everysingle piece of paperwork they send to you, if they phone tell them to write to you so you have a record of it. After 8 months of made up charges and constant refusing to resolve the problem our solicitor wrote a single letter to them requesting that they take us to court, they came back saying that we are write and reduced the bill from £1200 to £152.00 - a price we agreed to pay as that was part of the service we had used, they wrote off the rest, in the same way they made them up in the first place.
I useed this company for my waste for many years, I tried to end my contract which is where my nitemare began. Nearly 2 years later (and now they have been taken over and are still chasing me), they are still hounding me. This debt (which I do not owe them) is around £175, this company is huge they must have spent well over this amount in phone call and letters. In addition they actually sent me confirmation my final bill had been paid, then 6 months later sent me a final demand for the same amount. You just couldn't make it up, I have had a new company for over a year and have not had to make a single complaint. aaaaagh
