Ordered a winter frame at the beginning of Oct. They marked it as dispatched within a few days, so I waited in the following day for it to be delivered. It did not turn up. So I emailed Ribble asking if it had definitely been dispatched. They then just put the order back to 'order progressing' in my account. So I thought fine, annoying, but they do say 11-15 working days for delivery.( It ended up being dispatched on the 17th working day)
I emailed them after 2 weeks asking for a likely dispatch day, sensing something was wrong and got a stupid miss spelled robot reply saying it will be completed within 15 working days. Which has turned out to be a lie. I replied explaining the irritating situation, and got another reply saying my correspondence has been passed on to workshop manager. I've heard nothing to date.
So I phoned them on the 15th working day saying ''But you have not dispatched it'' etc, fella on the phone had no clue what was going on, would not give me any sort of answer and just said ''Er maybe wait another day or two''. Even tried telling me I placed my order later than I did.
Phoned them again on 17th working day and the person on the phone said it will be dispatched today or tomorrow as it has been prepped already. I asked if I could just come and pick it up today then, to which he replied ''Oh I'll just have to check it has actually been prepped''.
It actually arrived, late, on the 18th working day and the frame was damaged. It had not been damaged in transit. Just packed and sent to me with a chip in the frame. So drove to their shop and was told I will get a replacement early next week, and they will give me a 10% discount ( But this has not been honored!).
Mid next week came and I had not heard anything, so I went again to their shop. Different member of staff this time, helpful and seemed to want to get it sorted. But still had to wait almost half an hour, then was presented with a replacement frame. It was still not totally unmarked, I discovered when I got it home. Also no chain guard sticker was on it, as is usual, either.
Truly unbelievable experience. Ribble did everything possible wrong, wasted so much of my time, and seemed to do their best to treat me like a mug. Absolutely best avoided. Was warned about Ribble, I should of listened.
well i have now received my r872 carbon bike from ribble and was very impressed with the packaging of the bike so that it would not be damaged in transit. However i wasn't as impressed with the amount of time it took to get to me (just over a month from order to delivery) and as i have pointed out to ribble that the tracking number of the bike should be added to the email you receive when dispatched, they are looking into this.
the bike looks really nice and much better in the flesh than the pictures. i have ridden the bike for around 85 miles and i am not at all happy with the gear changes at the moment as some times they changed ok then would jump a gear then not change up properly. I know this is down to trimming the gears but thought this should have been done better in the workshop, the other issue i have is with the crank. it feels as though it is jumping ever so slightly when pedaling the bike on a stand and feels as though it is rubbing on something as well. i have booked the bike into my local bike shop for them to examine if this is the crank, gears etc. Having come from a specialised allez with shimano 2300 gears to going to a full ultegra 6700 setup i would have imagined this should feel like silk when pedaling, i guess i will see what the bike shop says about it and let you know.
Ok, I live in Switzerland...this was my second bike from Ribble this year (a 365 and now the R872). Good communication from Steve in sales. Issue with Di2 front harness was resolved quickly and was a Shimano issue. Both bikes performing extremely well and great value for money. Several other orders for clothing delivered quickly. Highly recommended.
I have ordered and received a sportive 365 from Ribble ,which was purchased through the NHS cycle to work scheme.
How as the experience been ?. I would suggest that if you want to deal with people who display an interest in the satisfaction of the customer you might be better served by buying a bike from your lbs.
Having paid the extra £65 fee directly to Ribble (they ask you to pay this before they will start the build) I was given a date for the start of the build. I asked if they might consider putting me a pair of pedals on the bike as a gesture of goodwill. (these pedals cost Ribble £10 a pair.....not much to ask on a £977 bike with an extra £65 charge). I was given a straigtforward NO !.
When I picked the bike up, the rather surly assistant lowered the ridiculously high seatpost on request, handed me a carrier bag with fitting instructions for all the fitted kit, and asked me to sign a form....and that was the full extent of the handover.
When I arrived home, I realised that I had not been advised about the initial service (as offered by any other shop iv'e purchased bikes from. The answer I received stated that Ribble (who of course hand built the bike) did not have the facility to service the bike, and that it had a 2 year warranty should I have any problems.
I E-mailed back to point out my disappointment,, but Ribble (who apparently have a policy to answer all customer e-mails) have stubbornly refused to supply me with a reply five days from my communication. I have also e-mailed Mr J.Dove regarding the situation, but as you might have guessed, no reply.
Would I recommend buying a bike from Ribble ? Never again in a million years.
I have placed 4 orders with Ribble in the past, when it comes to clothing, parts etc you can expect a great service and very quick delivery. Most recently I ordered a Ribble Sportive bike. Although you may wait up to a month for something that may be out of stock, I can not fault them at all. One month for a custom built bike, built to your spec is worth the wait! Excellent customer service, always happy to reply to emails and resolve any problems (I messed up my order and it was sorted straight away), and I more than happy with my bike.
I ordered two items from Ribble Cycles. After a few days I checked the order progress and it was "Order progressing waiting to be pick from warehouse". I contacted customer services (Matt) and he replied in a matter of hours, explaining the situation and the he would need to contact warehouse manager. After 1 day he contact me back saying that there was a short stock issues and my order would be dispatched immediately upgrading one of the item at not extra cost. Very good experience overall, I have been a customer from Ribble and I will keep being due to their excellent customer services, among other good things.
Well done team!!
I've had two Ribble Sportive Racing bikes now (nothing wrong with the first one - it was stolen). Both have been fantastic, lightweight and responsive and yet very comfortable. The only issue I've had (braze-on mount loose) was rectified very quickly at no expense. Sales/service communication has always been fast, friendly and helpful. I believe you won't find a better bike at the price hence the 5 stars.
I've been a customer for Ribble for sometime and have never need to deal with their customer services, I ordered my goods and got them without a problem. However I decided to take the plunge and purchase a bike using their bike builder and boy did I wish I went down to my local bike shop and pay the extra hundred quid and just walked away with a bike because the level of response I've received from them has been terrible, I inquired first how long delivery was going to take, they initially said 10-11 days, however they failed to mention that in my frame size it was low in stock, I discovered whilst building that bike that they would be getting fresh stock in mid july and it would be with me by the end of July, however its now the 26th of July and I haven't even received confirmation that my bike is being built . I've emailed the customer services 3 times this week asking for an estimate and I get robot responses back stating that I will receive an email when the bike is ready..... not good enough!
I wanted to take the next step up from my aluminium frame. I started searching around the web, for a great value carbon fibre frame. After reading a few forums, I came across Ribble cycles. As I don't live to far away from Preston, I decided to visit their showroom. The staff were very helpful on guiding me on the right frame. There are not many pictures of the bikes online, but when you see them in person, they look fantastic. Overall a perfect service from Ribble. Receiving emails throughout the build process, helped put my mind at rest.
It was only two weeks from ordering to receiving my bike. Which I thought was a great service, as they are built from scratch. I went out yesterday on my R872 and it's such a great bike for the price. I will be looking to use Ribble in the future.
Well what can I say. I am a Brit living in Geneva. I bought a Sportive 365 from Ribble Cycles for delivery to me here in Switzerland (plus a load of other kit). A trouble free experience from start to finish it - Steve in Sales provided fast and detailed responses to my queries and I was kept informed of my bike build and dispatch date. The bike was beautifully packed and was easy to put together when it was delivered. The youtube videos helped in terms of final build advice. I will certainly turn to Ribble again for future purchases.
Used them for the first time after being recommended by a friend, and the great value prices! Only bought some relatively cheap wheels, tyres and tubes (as i'm quite new to cycling) and had a query about spacers and got a very helpful, quick reply. Wheels turned up after 2 days which was great considering i ordered them on a bank holiday weekend! Cannot fault their service and will definitely use again!
Used ribble dozens of times.always happy. stock levels accurate.not the fastest shipping but Ok but thats free post. You can pay extra for fast delivery.
Unusually i had a parcel get lost in post recently It's very very rare I have had an item go missing. Ribble have dealt with this matter efficiently (refund) and it has not diminished by opinion of Ribble Cycles one bit. Best prices and excellent service.
Will continue to use them.
I had been looking for a new road over the last couple of months. As a cyclist for many years i heard good reviews about the Ribble bikes. I loved the idea that you could build your own bike to your own spec and budget so i ordered a pro carbon frame with decent components. The process was really easy and painless (unlike the hills where i live!!) Efficent service, excellent customer care, delivered when said they would. I hadnt used ribble before but i will use again and i strongly recommend
I've bought products from Ribble cycles for many years and always been impressed with their products and helpful sales staff. Unfortunately when I complained about a tyre that had an obvious fault in it's production (unsightly bulge in the side causing the rubber to crack) I was told this was due to wear. Strange as all the other tyres I've used and many of this same make have never mysteriously began to bulge and twist and I certainly wasn't expecting this deformity to be described as due to normal wear when it was obviously anything but normal. So five stars for products and sales service but one for after sales service.
I recently purchased some MTB shoes. All OK, good delivery, as specified on the website no problem. However the returns policy states only 7 working days and there doesn't appear to be too much of a budge on that. If you order one pair and they arrive on a Thursday, you wait to try on at the weekend and decide that they are the wrong size and that you require something different, you place another order on Monday, they arrive Wed/Thurs then you make a call.....not to much wiggle room. Also consider any Christmas / Birthday purchases. I've not had a bad experience I might add (so far) but just note the returns policy. If the returns policy were 14 - 28 days then no reason not to give a FIVE star!
Fair play, these guys have responded to my review and have extended their returns period to 30 days - good work! I've therefore increased my review from a four to FIVE star!
Ordered a bike through the store in Preston. Received amazing service and wasn't pushed into the add on and more expensive options.
Would really recommend Ribble Cycles to anyone. Came within the time frame and to top it all a great bike. Thanks Ribble
Generally good, some issues with communications but generally good service - product is excellent so overall happy with result; would recommend on understanding that my case seems to be atypical.
jim found this review useful
Ordered loads of things from Ribble - normally they are the best price or very very close and normally have a wide range of items available.... the items always arrive and come well packaged. Their customer service is good. They often have special offers on that are excellent value.
I have two small gripes :
(1) If you do need to return things, the postage costs are yours
(2) The web site can be slow
But all in all, the value and service outwight the small potential issues.
Having ordered goods from ribble 3 times in as many weeks I can reccomend them to anyone, all items were delivered within 3 days of ordering, the packaging was excellent, prices were at least 15% cheaper than any where else, a couple of items were 60% cheaper. Having used other online companies in the past and been let down will only be using Ribble Cycles in the future.
I've been using Ribble regularly for around 6 months now, and their service has always been great with excellent prices, quick delivery and in the case where they got my order wrong, a willingness to bend over backwards to put things right. They also answer emails, and in a timely fashion which is more than can be said about a lot of online traders these days.
A great selection of products for the discerning road cyclist, they stock all the big brand names and always at the best prices around. I got my first road bike from these guys as well as nearly all my clothing. Always the first site I check when I need anything, Really quick delivery too!
