Having had a major operation and been given the go ahead to go on holiday. We then had to curtail our holiday and get back to hospital in an emergency. We had to leave the boat where it was and call Richardsons to explain the situation, They couldn't have been more helpful and understanding and a curtailment payment was made with no problem. We look forward to having a complete holiday with you in the future!
I cant praise Richardson's highly enough, from the website to the first call and all the way through my holiday they were extremely polite and friendly. They helped me choose the right boat for me and my daughter, gave me ideas of where to visit and nothing was too much trouble for them. It was my first time taking a boat out but the staff were very helpful and made sure i was fully aware of the handling of the boat. From the minute I set off I was in my element. I will be back with them next year and quite possibly the year after.
The boat was ready and waiting and, with a quick check in process, we were off that afternoon for a great relaxing week away. The whole family, including the dog, enjoyed themselves floating round the broads, visiting pubs, beaches, and the Norfolk countryside.
Such a friendly staff - even those who weren't dealing with us greeted us cheerfully! Everything was clear, no question was too silly. The boat was immaculate and the instruction thorough. We thoroughly enjoyed our short break, and were particularly pleased to have rented (very cheaply) a rowing dinghy to tow along - pottering around in that at dusk and dawn was so peaceful.
Starting with first nice mail contact after booking, every request was accepted gently. We took over a perfect equipped boat in good condition. Hat a good instruction. Everything was very clean. Every transaction was very uncomplicated. We enjoyed our holiday with Richardson´s Boating very much and will return soon. Stern on mooring should be trained during the instructions.
We were suprised how much space we had on board a traditional boat which handled well and gave us every comfort. Everything was clean and working. The boatyard staff were very friendly and gave us every assistance when we did need a bit of help.
A peaceful and tranquil, slow pace holiday, relaxing and stress free from the hectic lives we have today, limited wifi and 3G to keep in with the quiet tranquil environment,, but always the chance to make catch up at regular refreshment stops (a pub at each stop lol) the boat was adequate for our needs, no fancy accommodation but suitable for kids. Was between a camping and caravanning type of holiday . The kids loved the challenges of mooring up and helping with securing the boat, fishing freely and always getting a catch, the ice cream boat, play areas, great walks and the wildlife. Mum and dad enjoyed the peacefulness and plenty of laughs with the challenge of reversing a boat lol. Would recommend it to all to give it a go. Not sure if the weather was bad that it would have been the same experience. Some places could be doing with more entertainment or activities for families. The type of holiday to bond with each other and can create your own fun and entertainment. Next time i would try a fancier boat and maybe even a couples holiday.
Staff were really good, helpful, polite and accommodating. Boat itself was well looked after, and we had no issues at all. I recommend Richardson's to anyone. I believe it was value for money too. We had a 6 birth which could get through potter Heigham bridge with pilot help. Excellent holiday.
Just come from a week on the Norfolk broads, one of the best holidays I have had, up there with going to Australia. So peaceful and beautiful. Can not believe I have never done this before. You get full rain of what you want to do and where to go and the people you meet are so friendly. This must be one of the only places in England that is old school true England I will be back!!!!
The main advantahe of the boat we had was the quiet cruising. It was also good that it had plenty of single beds for the party we had. It did brakdown once when the rudder cable broke but it was quickly responded and repaired. The boatyard really need to something about the geese though as the poo makes the place look a mess.
My cousin and I and the dogs came too had a lovely short break on the Broads on a boat hire from Richardsons. I was expecting the chap who showed us around the boat and how to drive it to be condescending as my cousin is 59 and I am 63. Not a bit of it he was friendly and patient.
The boat, although one of the cheaper models was very adequate and well maintained.
Clean boat "Moon Adventure", it was very well appointed with a lovely welcome back all local produce, helpful and friendly staff (except for one grumpy woman....who was a bit rude, but I suppose you always get one, dont you) everyone else was so nice. Perfect for our small family....easy to book although the operator forgot to put on the booking sheet we had a toddler so needed the bed made up accordingly......I couldnt recommend this holiday more....the sun even shone for us!
This year was the sixth time we have chosen Richardson's for our cruising the Broads, because they offer a complete and efficient service we have come to trust and their boats are maintained to a high standard, handover is quick, efficient and helpful. Vehicle parking is plentiful and the site is secure at night .
extremely friendly and helpful staff at start and end.
overall we had a positive experience but there were a few minor points that should be ironed out; this is not an inexpensive holiday and as such one expects everything to work. - side curtains for main cabin were incorrect i.e they did not match up with the curtain for the front window (two sides the same) - the front cabin should have a blackout blind above the skylight - the gas pressure was extremely low and the oven did not seem to work (I appreciate we could have called to sort this out and not a huge deal for us) - runners for the canopy need oiling as effectively they were not turning when opened and closed
We have used Horizoncraft at Acle for many years - always delightful and helpful people. Blue Horizon was an excellent craft and was low enough in the water to enable us to reach Coltishall, our favorite pub and fishing spot. Perfect weather was a bonus!
I really enjoyed our time on the broads, we had lovely weather and it's a beautiful place. We were disappointed that's our boat was very tall and we could not get under any bridges so limited to where we could visit.
We loved our weekend but it was very expensive so would be limited to do it again soon
