An all round excellent service. Would recommend this website anyone interested in building computers or upgrading them. Super fast delivery (rather pricey though) and well packaged goods! Prices were competitive and the range of products were fantastic!
I used to buy from this company in person a lot when I lived in Manchester. Now I'm living elsewhere, I used them again recently, and came to appreciate the quality of their delivery service as well.
Ordered a hard drive, which arrived by soon developed a fault. RMAd it without any problem,. they collected it at no cost to me and a replacement drive arrived a couple of days later. The replacement also developed a (different) fault; again it was collected by them the following day. In that case I asked for a refund instead, which was processed promptly.
Meanwhile, I ordered another drive. In that case, the delivery company claimed I was out while I wasn't (I was sitting at home when I got the text message claiming I wasn't in!). Made a quick phone call to Scan, and the delivery guy turned up later on the same day.
All round excellent service. No inconvenient having to take things to the post office yourself, or pay for return postage, or attempts to claim that faulty items are somehow okay or any of that kind of nonsense that gets companies a bad name. Just decent, straightforward service.
Quite agree with other comments about pricey delivery. Luckily, I ordered something a while ago which promised lifetime delivery free. So look out for that one. Indeed I've just had two items delivered free to two different addresses. Both turned up well on time and the items were far cheaper than I could find them elsewhere. If anything I found the service better than a few years ago and will be using them again. Hope this helps!
I've bought many items from Scan over the years and have never had a problem. Their prices are very competitive and their range of PC items is wide as any online retailer. Naturally, being nearby, I always collect and avoid waiting and shipment charges. When collecting, they have a very efficient system, so one never waits long.
I have used this company on numerous occasions for the above reasons. On one occasion when a product sold did not match the description (sold as new but it obviously wasn't) I very easily found the number to ring, got through to a real person who could actually help me and got all the relevant information for a return in minutes. Yes it was annoying that they got it wrong in the first place but I cannot fault their response to their mistake. I even got a better product (for the same price) sent to me after getting advice from this support advisor.
It is because of this that I continue to use this site and I am please to say that I have not had cause for complaint since that one time.
I believe this great after sales service justifies a 5 star rating even after considering the above mistake. It is a shame more companies do not operate as this company does.
Great prices if you are close enough to pop into the store to avoid postal charges. The only black mark is the amount of grey import stuff they sell which means any warranty may be with Scan rather than the manufacturer (Samsung disk drives are a case in point). I haven't had to return anything yet so I can't comment on their customer service.
With the ever decreasing amount of PC builders to choose from, I decided to buy my latest pc from scan....my first ever scan pc and I am so pleased I went to them, when you first look inside the pc you can tell this has been put together by someone that really cares about how a computer should look inside. All the cables have been neatly tied and then attached to the strategically placed cable tie holders, wherever possible they have been routed under the motherboard tray out of site but even then they were cable tied underneath so not to just hang there messily, the case itself was polished up and the 3xs badge (scans pc brand name) had been fitted perfectly straight on my new Lian li case, normally when I receive a new pc the badge always seems crooked, I was kept informed at every stage of my pc build and if I log in to the Scan website I can even see the name and picture of the person that was responsible for each part of the build process. First class service all round which is very unusual in this day and age....well done scan I will definitly buy my next pc from you
Well it seems like a respectable company that has hit the big time has finally stopped being customer lead and the money machine firmly kicks in by not giving a damn about the customer.
We are talking about failure to deliver the goods on time. Two orders placed in as many weeks. Both failed to be delivered on time and end up arriving late by up to 5 days. The excuses, a glitch in the stock system is their explanation. I am still waiting for the second order!
On both occasions their system flagged items out of stock. Notified after closing time by text message, so there's nothing can be done for the same day despatch as they sell it, and charge for it - nothing cheap about delivery costs here!
When you do get contact from them, they deny the items were out of stock and then let you know they will despatch. The second order was delayed 2 days before despatch as their system flagged 2 out of stock items, then they advise they weren't out of stock, but yet still delayed. I suspect the items were out of stock but they won't admit a flaw in their 'live' online stock system.
If you order more than a couple of items, expect problems. They never used to be like this, buyers beware!
