I don't normally take time out to write reviews but felt that SLR Hut are very deserving of some good feedback.
I placed an order for a special they were running on the new Canon 5D MKIII quite simply because their price was unbeatable.
As I had questions I did have to call them up, although they advertise in the UK it is quickly apparent they are are based in the States. No problem as their customer services guys are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Anyway I place an order and am totally delighted that my new camera arrived two days earlier than expected.
So to sum up I saved a ton of cash and got a faster than expected delivery ... I will be using them again without doubt!
I am having an outstanding experience with slrhut. Like others, I was quite anxiuos with slrhut products as their website is not indicating any UK or London based shops. I did a deep research on slrhut and saw the reviews on various websites. But this was not helping me at all. I was in a kind of dilemma - whether I should purchase my first camera from slrhut or not. They were giving a very nice deal on my favorite Nikon D5200 with lenses. After thinking couple of days about their website and discussing with my colleagues, friends and family I decided to quit chosing slrhut. During those days I found a review provided by one of customer who gave extremely poor rating to this website. This increases my apprehensiveness and I just quit the plan of buying my First camera from slrhut. I spent another week in finding a better deal from other websites but nowhere I could see a comparative deal like slrhut. Certainly just next day I re-browsed this website (trustpilot) to see reviews from other customers/reviewers. What I saw here just made a change in my final decision. I saw the reply of slrhut to that particular customer. I showed this to my family and they told me to go ahead and buy from there. Finally I put an order (without any extended warranty) and to supress my anxiousness I chose the fast delivery. I got a very quick confirmation email from company and they asked me to call at their given number. As like others, I waited for a long time (probably in queue) and finally someone receive the call. He transferred my call to other executive where again he put me on hold for another 5-7 minutes. Further, during conversation, he offered me a battery and 3 year plan in another £80 that I accepted. Later, on the same day in evening I was having a worst conversation with my friend where he was raising all the bad point on slrhut. Very soon after the conversation with my friend I received an email from slrhut where they send me the courier information. But still the whole night my friend was poking and that resulted as a nightmare. Next days were Saturday and Sunday and most of the time I spent in tracking my order on DHL website. But finally, today (10th Feb 2014) I received my parcel successfully and made me extremely happy. This was really quick. Another things were needed to check about the products were their genuiness. I successfully registered my products (cam+lenses) on the Nikon website and hence made my evening awesome. So overall, after this long story, I am happy with my first DSLR camera and will recommend this company first to that friend who was giving lots of critique and gave me a nightmare. :D
I ordered a Nikon D5100 with extra lens. I was a little apprehensive about ordering an expensive product in this way, but checked reviews about SLRHut and it seemed okay. The price was good and very competitive. I placed my order on the website late on Thursday 30th January. Over the next couple of days I received e-mails from SLRHut asking me to ring them (UK based number). I couldn't get through (busy for 10+ mins each time). I e-mailed the company and was contacted by them, suggesting that I buy an extended life battery. I declined and my order was put through as it stood, on Tuesday 4th February. DHL and SLRHut both e-mailed the next day to confirm shipping of my order, along with my tracking number. I opted for the standard delivery and wasn't expecting to hear anything soon, so was surprised when I checked the tracking and found that DHL had tried to deliver my package on Friday 7th February, while I was at work. I collected my parcel from DHL today (Saturday 8th February). It was packaged well and securely and I am more than happy with the product, the price and the service. Okay, there was a bit of a delay at the start, but not enough to withhold a star from the review rating. Would I recommend SLRHut? Yes - and I already have. Would I consider using them again? Absolutely! Anyway, must go now. I have a fab camera to play with!
I was; like some others, a little wary of purchasing from a company in the States, but when you do your reserach and realise that whilst reviews are a good yardtick, it is often the complainers who post the most and not enough of the 'good reviews' that are seen in forums. Speak to the company, and realise that IF, you actually WANT to make a saving from UK prices, AND you purchase on your Credit Card, so you have protection, ... well, there is no worry. I knew that I was getting a Genuine Nikon and that it was going to be like all my previous Nikons, a really reliable item, then, there is no need to worry. These guys really are trying their best to ensure that any bad press is fairly balanced with the good, fair and honest ones too, and to be honest, it outweights the bad if you look beyond the scare monogers.. EVERY company has some bad press, as I say, complainers are louder than complimenters! So, want a bargain?, don't waste more time.. pleasure to talk to them and as fast as a UK based company. 10/10
My partner ordered a Sony camera for me to take abroad for a trip I was going on. However, despite paying for the '2-3 day delivery' charge the camera failed to arrive on time. I didn't have it when I went away and after approximately 10 days I called to cancel the order and request a refund only to find out that the camera was never sent and it was actually never in stock! The operator explained that they only had a 'used' one available despite advertising the item as 'New'! When SLR Hut initially called me after the order was placed all they wanted to do was sell me an extended warranty. Despite telling them I didn't want one they still kept on pressing me. I NEVER wanted an extended warranty I just wanted the camera and I won't be using SLR Hut again! I'm still waiting for the refund and this is probably 'out of stock' as well! AVOID!!! UPDATE: 21/02/14 Dispute started as I am STILL waiting for my refund!! AVOID SLR HUT it should be renamed SLR SHUT!! SCAMMERS!!
Placed my order on Wednesday 22nd Jan and was told I would receive an email with the tracking reference....I'm still waiting. I was also informed to expect delivery on Friday 24th Jan as I had paid an extra £40 for express delivery!
I called the customer service line on Friday 24th requesting the tracking reference. I was spoken to like a bit of dirt and was rudely told "you get an email when its dispatched". I then sent an email through to customer services requesting the tracking reference again, and also requested for my order to be cancelled and fully refunded if i hadn't received a tracking reference by the end of the day. I have had no response.
I have now had to raise a dispute via Paypal after doing some research to find out that they are supplying grey goods if you're even lucky enough to receive anything! It's also really suspicious as to why there are so many 5 star reviews when i've received a 0 star service.
Ladies & Gents, If you establish the address & postcode for the uk company (unit 17, 336 Kennington Lane, SE115HY) and put it into google streetview you will see the registered UK offices are a mailbox shop called Mailboxes Etc. If this scares you or you are of a nervous disposition you may wish to think about your order. I'm not saying this is a problem but if you're timid about these sort of things then doing the research beforehand will stop you moaning and cluttering up the customer services afterwards. Just a thought. p.s. I intend to use this company in case you're interested.
I am delighted with my Canon EOS 100/SL1 DSLR Camera. It arrived well packaged and faster than the timescale quoted. This is my first DSLR camera. Loads to learn but easy to get started. It is lighter than other cameras I looked at so easy to carry around . Very pleased with its performance so far.
Having done my research to find a good quality reasonably priced DSLR to meet my needs I found that SLR Hut offered one of the cheapest prices available. I was reassured that they have an address in my home country (UK), although it transpired that the camera was actually shipped from the US. I spoke to a helpful representative and had several emails to keep me informed of progress with shipping my order. The camera arrived when it was due and I am now enjoying my new toy! The signs are that if I have any problems with the product (which I haven't), customer support will be available.
This is the fist camera I bought and I did lots of price comparison. I wanted good camera with good lens SLRHut had great deal for canon 650d with 18-135mm. But I had a daunt of buying it coz it's from USA. I gave only one phone call and very helpful staff, easy and simple...., within a week time I had my lovely camera nicely packed..thanks to SLRHut I recommend any one wants to buy camera easy,faster and cheap...
I just brought a Canon 7D, I was all excited in getting this, it was promptly delived as promised but when I got it and open it , one I found taht there was no software installation disc and two. I was dispointed to find that the battery charger is not suitable for UK plug sockets it was an an American fit. As SLR Hut sell with a UK address in London and on a UK web site you would of thought that it would of come with a UK battery charger or come with an adapter. I have over the years brought many electrical items online from the US and the company always sells with an adapter. Now, I have to wait till I get this matter sorted out and in the meantime I am not able to use my new camera, can't even use my batterys from 20 and 40D Cameras, So lets see how good SLR Huts customer service is in sorting this matter out, I will let you know how it goes and see how good and how quick they sort this out.
This was my first time using SLR HUT,i came across it when looking into Amazon.That goodness i did,i purchased an i pad a lot cheaper than all the places i looked into.My order was placed on the 10/01/2014 and arrived 16/01/2014. That's what i call service
I spent a lot of time researching for a starter DSLR camera and SLRHut offered the best prices and starter pack. I received a courtesy phone call to confirm my order and my purchase arrived within seven days as promised. I am very happy with the product and service.
The ordering process was easy, and SLR Hut were flexible about the package they supplied. I was led to expect delivery in about one week, but it was within 5 days. One minor item, the screen protector film, was damaged by folding and only just usable, and there was no information about the manufacturer's warranty, but I am otherwise very satisfied with my order.
Ordered a Canon EOS 60D Kit I have been thinking about this purchase from SLR Hut for some time. The price was good, but initially I didn't realise they were US based. However I took the plunge and ordered by phone and paid by credit card on the Monday, and the goods were delivered at my address by DHL on Friday. The D60 was as advertised. So I would rate order process, communication, and delivery as excellent. Also I would definitely use them again...
10 January 2014. I came across SLR-hut when looking for a new camera and found their prices very attractive. The camera that I was looking for was 600d compare price with other store around 140 pounds less and came with an accessory as we'll. I made my order on 27/12/13.
And got a order confirmation very fast And soon after the problems get start my payment was declined there was no communication form SLR team.
I called them again and again there was no response.
There customer service is very poor Whenever you call them you have to at least wait more than 1/2 hours at least I have called the 20-35 times then the line got connected, I tried to get this resolved the issues and order different product because the price was gone down in there website and on information was given to customer that the current price is cheaper!!
I had a long talk with them and thought problem is solved but product took very long time to come.
Furthermore i received camera with express delivery on Tuesday, January 07, 2014 at 14:54 which was very late!!!
I checked the camera out it show is website 700d but actual it's came EOS Rebel SL1. I hope it's same thing but if so it should be written EOS 700d
Therefore I am not happy for waiting so long and not be able to use the came on my event. I will never use this company again and feel sorry for anyone who does. It's not worth saving 100-150 pound if you have to go throughout this hassle and waiting.
