overall usually very good service and a vast selection of quality products at a very competitive price and also low delivery charges some slight problems with out of stock goods delivery is usually within 24hrs but more important is the quality of their products even down to their budget beer kits which overall are pretty good a range of kits from scottish export to irish stout i must admit the stout kits are fantastic so i can put up wth the odd delay and must mention their silver can promotion GREAT!!!!! so i recommend anyone out there give this company a try you wont be dissapointed iv delt with them for a number of years and overall really good and nearly forgot their loyalty points which are not long in adding up happy home brewing
I had purchased from these guys before and they delivered fine.
Placed an order in Feb, received delaying e-mails until March, then nothing for a month.
Website dead (not good for an onlne retailer!!!), and phone disconnected. They've disappeared.
Contact your credit card company ASAP is my suggestion.
Have ordered from this company before but recently their delivery has become erratic to say the least. Ordered in January still waiting. Unable to contact them and their website is unavailable. Think they have done a runner with my money and everybody elses. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!! if you too have been ripped off contact Trading Standards, Credit Card Co. and police. They are nothing but crooks.
I ordered goods on February 9th 2012 to be told they were out of stock. They have taken my money and I still have not received my goods. I can no longer contact them through the links on their email - the pages are not available and there is no email address to reply to or phone number given on their confirmation email. They are part of the online-shopping company and there seem to be many very bad reviews suggesting lots of other people have had similar bad experiences.
First order they made a mistake by sending me a brew bucket with tap hole and no hole. Lots of e-mails and they send a tap.
Second order the stuff is all in stock take my money and it then goes on backorder. 6 weeks later the 2/3rds of order arrives.
Tell me to change my order as some material no longer available. 6 months down the line still not arrived and the website is gone.
Visa will have to chase them as I have had it.
Why can't I give -5 stars?
It seems that I was lucky in that I managed to get a chargeback for my 2 months delayed order before this bunch of cowboys had the plug pulled.
They have resurfaced before (I expect their suppliers were particularly chuffed about that) so keep an eye out and don't let them make a mug of you twice!!

Ordered goods 24/12/2011. After 6 weeks it was obvious they would not be able to fullfil the order and I was promised a refund. I was not surprised when refund not received and emails ignored. Hope they are all now unemployed - robbing bastards. I bet this company pops up again in a new guise. Call Trading Standards with all details on - 08454040506. Ken.
To cut a long story short I raised a dispute with my bank (lloyds) after a bit of form filling and posting the bank credited my account and took up the dispute themselve on their own behalf. The bit banks put in about the value of the goods must be above £100 is not exactly true. If you paid by credit card the value is usually irrelevant (mine was IRO £60). Paying by debit card is another matter and you may have several hoops to jump through. Wish you all success in getting your hard earned back.

Have i been ripped of on the net yet again seems like it is full of take your money and get stuffed merchants well think i will send a county court summons to the address for reimbursment do this a lot at work and usualy works

I ordered goods in January. After 6 weeks I had received nothing except loads of promotional e-mails. To be honest I had written the order/money off which was quite sizeable....
Eventually by mid March I had received all of my order except one item. It came in dribs and drabs. I'd get one e-mail saying it had been despatched then another saying that some of the order was unavailable and was out of stock and it would not be sent until those items were in stock..... Wait another 2 weeks or so but nothing. This went on for ages and we are now at the end of March - nearly 3 months later!
On the plus side I have checked my bank statement and have been credited for the missing item, although I received no notification of this... So for those of you still waiting you might like to do the same as it appears someone is trying to make amends for what has been for me the worst online experience ever....

Hooray! I found an old order number from last summer, and can finally add something to the discussion!
In my opinion, the online homebrew company deserves complimenting on only two things:
1) Their ability to swiftly censor/delete ANY kind of bad feedback (mine included) that was left on internet forums, facebook etc about the shoddiness of their operation. They even did a pretty good job of whitewashing Trustpilot for a while! Let's face it; in the age of mass communication, that's a pretty impressive achievement. It's only after the company has ceased trading that I've been able to discover that there were legions of other customers getting exactly the same dismal service that I got.
2) The fact that they did the decent thing and got refunds out to people before the bailiffs arrived. Fair play on that one.
Apart from that, pretty much everything written in the one-star reviews echoes true with me too. This company used to be great - I even recommended them to friends - but something clearly went BADLY wrong over the course of the last 6 months.
In the event that they somehow manage to rise from the dead: AVOID!
P.S. a poster on moneysavingexpert (not sure if we're allowed to link to other forums here, but it's not hard to find if you want to check the story) posted a message a couple of days ago claiming that he attempted to visit the company's office in Rugby, but the site is now closed. Neighbours say bailiffs went in last week and removed all stock and assets.

Ordered 2 Feb, items available became out of stock, they changed my order as requested but then these replacement items were out of stock for even longer. It seems I am one of the lucky one's - they refunded my order without being told to do this and yesterday I discovered the web page cannot be found. I assume they,ve been shut down or done a runner. Good of someone in the company to have given me a refund though

Items showing as being in stock are not actually in stock. I ordered three items, all showing as being in stock at the time of the order. I waited 2 months for one of the items to be delivered, a month after that I was refunded for the other two items .. Had three months of emails stringing me along saying items were in transit , in warehouse, then back to in transit .. etc...etc.. Absolutley rubbish customer service. I would advise anyone to use [link] instead , ordered on Friday, delivered the following Tuesday. Now that's customer service.

Lost £50 to these horrible bums.
I paid with a gift voucher. waited 3 weeks for delivery. They just refunded my postage without any explanation other than 'order refunded'. Of course the gift voucher code no longer works so is actually my mum that lost the £50.
Note to you people posting good reviews.
If your paid to do this I will track you down and kill your dog.

If i were you I would google this company before you buy! I wish I did. Ordered £150 of items after a month finally got refund! There is no number to contact them and every email you send gets a generic reply with no offer of help. Items were in stock should have been delivered in two days but I had too chase them for a month! Terrible
I ordered from these guys and after 3 days my order stated that it was being packed... contacted the company and they said it was as suggested in the warehouse being packed... 3 days later, my box was still being packed so I asked for a refund.... they refused!!!
Took me 3 weeks to get a partial order and a partial refund even though all the goods ordered said they were in stock
If I could give them no stars I would.
Cancelled my order, yet failed to let me know.
Promise free beer kits that never appear.
Say they have stuff in stock when in actual fact you have to wait 7 weeks for it.

There are some good players in this market which do a really good job so no need to spend you money with these guys.

Placed order and paid for it . after a lengthy delay , it was marked as refunded . Money eventually turned up . Website is a means of taking money only . They dont read E mails and only send a stock computer genereated reply I.E check account for details . Dont want to interact with customers and service is PATHETIC . Cant find how to close my account with them ( surprise surprise !! ) .Online help will only answer the questions they want to answer and doesnt allow you ask the question you want to ask .
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE !!!!!! .

They have run some very good deals over the past couple of months and I have placed a few orders, one order ( #1008085) did take ages to arrive ordered on 24/12/2011 and was dispatched on 20/02/2012. But I was in no rush so wasn't that bothered by this.
But two of my recent orders where part dispatched, then yesterday the remanding parts of my orders ( #1136245 & #1117195) are showing as "Your order has been refunded", I did not ask for a refund and I was not notified this was happening.
Another problem I have had which isn't their fault is the delivery company they use, they claim to attempt delivery when they haven't and every time you phone them they assure you it will be delivered on the day, week of phone calls later and it finally arrives. And my recent order has arrived damaged with split beer cans.
no items !!! kept sending messages to say some of items out of stock and then dispatached then out of stock and would be delayed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT ON so asked for refund = no refund ! now bank involved and trading standards ...

1. Their website shows goods in stock that are not.
2. They take payment for goods immediately even if out of stock. I paid for one item on 2nd February advertised as in stock. It's the 14th March now and it STILL hasn't arrived. NO company should charge for goods before dispatch!

words really fail me when i try to describe the shopping experience i have had with the online homebrew company.first of all i should state that my order number is #1102465 so that damon cant turn around and state that this is a false review.my first and last order was placed on the 12th of febuary and yes you have guessed it even though the money has been removed from my account i still have no homebrew ,and my latest date of dispatch is the 16th of march,although if that does'nt change several times between now and the end of the week i will be amazed.what really amazes me about this company is that they look like a bonifide company on the face of it and yet they are nothing but a shower of crooks.i have enjoyed using there forum for about 18 months so it was only logical to assume that because they run a good forum that there homebrew sales company would also be a good experience,WRONG!!my only regret was that i didnt check martin lewis money saving experts site as this companies reputation is well documented with hundreds of similar bad experiences. after reading of people asking for refunds and still not having them weeks later i have decided to skip the middle man and ask my bank to cancel said order.the one good thing about this whole experience is that i will be much more wary of who i deal with online from now on and the quicker this particular company is closed down as surely it will be ,the better.

This has got to be the worst company in existence all items in stock until they take your money then the fun starts items out of stock then packing then out of stock again then in transit from warehouse
They never answer there so called customer service enquires and never reply to recorded posts they signed for them but never get back in touch with you
if you have got an existing order with these and you have not received it get in touch with south end on sea trading standards and consumer direct and you bank and do a charge back otherwise you will never see your order or your money again

Dont order from these crooks,its the same story time after time,items are in stock when you order,then they are out of stock,then they arrive and are in transit from the main warehouse and after they manage to reach the end of their epic journey from this mythical warehouse which must be somewhere on cloud 9 just behind the flying pigs,but its not over yet,once they are all in stock as with my order 1108215,you then reach the "your order in in the warehouse being packed for dispatch" stage,the same stage that my order has been at since the 23rd of February,and when you get sick of waiting for it to be dispatched and you ask for a refund,you will be told you cant have one because the order is already packed and will be with you in the next 48 hours,but of course 48 hours later its still in the warehouse ready for dispatch.I can only say take your money elsewhere otherwise you wont be seeing anything for it anytime soon.

They are by far the worst online company I've used to date. I wish I had read these reviews before I had ordered. All these one star reviews reflect my experience.
I placed an order for two wine kits that were "in stock and dispatched within 24 hours". Just under a month later, and I've got nothing! I've contacted them 4 times, responses where rude and did not answer anything. When I asked for a refund (3 weeks after order), I was refused, on the grounds of. The order was now in their warehouse. This company clearly has no stock, & order in when they have enough funds.
Please don't be fooled by their cheap prices, pay the extra few pence and actually receive something.

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD! TOHC is out of business, website is closed down and assets have been seized. Luckily in my latest bank statement i was overjoyed to see my £41 back in my account. Hurray!
Contrary to what the previous reviewer stated, this company can't even handle small orders. I ordered TWO beer kits from this site in early January. The items were clearly stated as IN STOCK when I ordered them, however for the next month I watched as the kits went in and out of stock, it always said 'in transit from main warehouse'. Why they couldn't have just sent me one kit while they waited for the other to come back in stock is beyond me.
Their online customer help service is a joke, I sent a message almost every day for two weeks and didn't even hear one reply. My message was deleted from my outbox after about 24 hours. This company does not provide a contact email address nor a phone number, which is a clear sign of a dodgy site, i feel like a fool for not noticing.
Eventually in February i cancelled my order and only then did i get a reply to a message, in which they said i'll have a refund in 8 days (they took my money immediately after i placed my order, yet they state on their site that refunds can take up to 28 days? cash flow problems, LOL!). However as of now (mid march) i have not seen a refund in my account.
I have ordered before with these people and i got my goods, but my second order never arrived. It seems they lure you in with great prices, lull you into a false sense of security, then on your second/third order they take your money and run off. Avoid at all cost. Lest this be a lesson to me, i will now be even more careful when choosing a good shopping site. If the online shopping company does not refund me, i will do all i can to get my money back, even if it costs me. I don't want these people getting away with STEALING my money!
PS I have been waiting to post this review for a month, but they wanted me to provide an order ID which i had, but it wasn't accepted. Finally now i can voice my disgust. If you want to post a review, keep trying!.

I can only echo what many others have said. My order (1039885 just in case they want to argue) was made in early January. I then spent a month watching bits of my order going in and out of stock. Cancelled the order in early Feb and am still waiting for a refund in mid March. I had previously sent two emails which remained unanswered before going at them through the amazon shop contacts (yes they sell through there too). That got a rapid response albeit to tell me that I should communicate through their dire customer service (HA!) interface. I was told it was being dealt with but I will wait and see on that one. In the meantime they will soon have received my letter indicating that they have 28 days to sort this before I am left with the small claims court as a last ditch attempt.
I see a lot of happy people responding in this forum and I can only suppose that it is all in the complexity. Small orders can get handled. Large ones (mine was over £200) confuse them.
I won't comment on the quality of the product as I haven't a clue since none arrived and I certainly will not order from any of their outlets in the future. This is all about sense and customer service which is woefully lacking.
Engage with these people at your own risk and keep the orders small!

My husband has been like a child with a new toy since receiving the Woodfordes Whery Micro Brewery starter kit for his birthday last week from me. It's all in there so there has been nothing else to buy and you can get going straight away. The instructions are clear and straightforward. Last night he transferred the beer to the keg and in a week or so will be tasting the output! Even I admit that it smells lovely. The forum has been very useful too for picking up additional advice and guidance.
Thank you for introducing me to an old friend from my uni days, homebrewed lager. I had forgotten just how nice you are! We should have stayed in touch.
It's been about 10 years since I last brewed my own beer. My wife got me all the kit for Christmas and Ive just enjoyed my first bottle of coopers.

Ordered good from this company on 22nd December, total order value in excess of £200.
They were clear that there might be a delay in delivery as the offer they were making was likely to be popular. I also factored in a delay thanks to Christmas. However, they have now gone well past the point of acceptability. Eight and a half weeks and STILL being told another week to wait (I've been told this so many times I simply don't believe it any more).
The odd thing is that I'd still be content if they appeared to have any intention of providing me twith my goods. There are four items in my order, all of which, at some point since I ordered, have been in stock.
It would seem clear to me that if there is an outstanding order against something in stock, Online Homebrew would keep it to one side and wait for the rest to come in, then despatch. However, all I can assume is happening is that as items come into stock then they are shipped against new orders coming in. This leaves me in an awful position where I have to hope that on some day within the near future all the items I have ordered come into stock at the same moment and that they can fulfil the order. I feel like I'm waiting for a lottery win.
Trying to contact them over the matter is not worth the time - you just get a form response. Posts on the forum asking for any kind of statement are deleted within a few hours.
To cap it all, I get an email every single day offering me yet more discounted gear. Do they think I'm stupid?

12th March: Latest News: They part shipped some of the gear a mere 63 days after I placed my order. They promised me a refund of the remainder within ten days on 22nd February. Allowing for the fact that that period ended on a Saturday, I should have had the money back on 5th March. It's not hit my credit card account yet.
As soon as it was late, I started contacting them asking if it was going to be credited on time. They are deleting my questions from my outbox on their pitiful contact system. This company takes customer disservice to a completely new level.
