Next Day Delivery But Wrong Item!!

I ordered the Inspire wardrobe thinking it would arrive in 14 days. I received an email immediately stating my item had been dispatched for next day delivery between 4pm and 8pm. It indeed arrived at around 5pm and the very helpful guys took it straight upstairs and unpacked it for me. As soon as they left, I realised it was the wrong finish!! Frantically I emailed and then phoned the sales office and was reassured it was their fault! They arranged to collect the wardrobe the following day and replace it. Today the new wardrobe has been delivered and it is very nice. However I really wish I had kept the other one also as it was more expensive with better handles!!!

WORST COMPANY AND SERVICE. AVOID THEM

I ordered for Arizona dinning table and chairs after it was showing that "IN STOCK" on their website. I waited for more than three weeks but no update or any sor of communication. I had to call them to chase the status and surprisingly they told me that it is not in stock! I have been told to wait for further 5 weeks!!!. Since I liked that dining table, I agreed to wait without any other option. But after 5 weeks I have been told that it is not possible to give me any time line!!!. After lot of back and forth emails, they agreed to send me some loan table and the Arizona chairs (yes the chairs were in stock). When they delivered the loan table, it was fully assembled so that it will not pass through the doors of any houses in the UK! So, I accepted the chairs and sent back the loan table they offered me. More surprise that, When I opened up the chairs, it was rusty, broken and looked like an used item. So, I contacted them and after so much of calls and emails (nightmare....they don't pick up and they don't respond to emails) they agreed finally to arrange for a collection. They arranged collection couple of times but no one turned up. I lost my income for those days sitting at home not just one but two times during three week period. Finally after long struggle they refunded me. AVOID! I will not recommend them to my worst enemy!

Customer Service? I don't think so...

I purchased a mirror from the Modern Home before xmas expecting a pre-christmas delivery, it didn't arrive until late January.
When it did arrived it was damaged due the extremely poor packaging. I advised them immediately of the damaged goods and requested that rather than wait another two months for someone to pick it up, that we drop it off to their local logistics depot, just to get the goods out of our house. They don't answer emails, they don't pick up the phone or return messages.
I am extremely frustrated, out of pocket financially and ready to take the matter to Trading Standards, these people have no idea about customer service and should be shut down.

Don't waste your time with this slow to respond company

We purchased an Adina Lamp Table with black glass. The black colouring was a poorly applied coating rather than the glass being self-coloured. We also found that the upper glass was chipped.
We asked to return the table for a refund. After about a dozen emails the table was collected by themodernhome's courier. After 3 weeks of chasing, the company made a partial refund. I queried why £2.63 had been withheld and was told that this was a credit card fee.
So much for 'No Quibble Returns'!

Awful sevice, non flexible delivery, fake website

We ordered there because they claim flexible delivery service. In the end, they provided office hours delivery only, and there was nobody to rearrange or check the status and to track the package. Once the good is paid, they do not care. We had to arrange to be at home at office hours to get the package, while we clearly mentioned we needed evening/Saturday delivery when ordering.
All their website content on service, delivery is just fake, or maybe they selected comments from the very 'few' happy customers, assuming some exist.

Very good table and chairs

We purchased the Merlin bedroom furniture set which was reduced from £1800 to £1299 in the January sale. This included the bed, mattress and wardrobes. The cheapest I had seen it was on amazon for £2200 or so when bought separately, so we got a real bargain I think. A company called Panther delivered our goods and the 2 chaps helped carry them upstairs. They also unpacked and joined the 2 wardrobes together. The internal packaging was taken although we had to keep the boxes just in case the item had to be returned we were told. Very happy, been a pleasant experience which is rare with so many companies. We struggled with dfs and harveys in the past. So I would use this company again, or maybe we were lucky this time.

Awful Service and very poor value!

What a waste of time this place is! The service is rude and unhelpful when , on rare occassion, you do manage to get hold of them. All we got most of the time was an automated reply, and no follow up or real contact.

Unbelievably fast delivery.

I ordered the saturn dining table with chairs on the 26th at around 8 or 9pm. I received an order despatch email immediately within 10 or 15 minutes. I thought it may have been a mistake and should have been the sales confirmation. But then the order arrived on Friday morning the very next day. Great service, however 1 washer seems to be missing which I am told was sent out today.

Perhaps there are people that have had a good experience with this online store....

But mine was anything but.

I personally would advise anyone to stay away from this company, and look to the competition as I feel like there are a lot more honest furniture retailers out there.

No Goods, Poor Service

Finally, after 9 weeks of struggling with these people, who have simply failed to deliver the goods we paid for, they have agreed to refund me, less £25.20 "failed international delivery charge". This " failure" being their own!

Finally, somewhere to review The Modern Home

I have been looking for somewhere to leave a review for the modern home! I ordered a sofa suite in the January sale for just over £1000. It arrived shortly after (on around 10th day) BUT although it entered our home, would not fit through our door into the second living room. Devastated, we presumed that the sofa would be going back with the delivery men. However, here is where the magic happened. They informed us that if the door was removed from the hinges, the larger sofa would fit, but that they were also happy to take the sofa away and refund me. I agreed to have the door removed and the sofas eased into the room.

They put the door back on and I'm amazed at the fantastic service and dedication of these guys considering it took over 2 hours.

Very impressed and certainly recommend.

stay away from these crooks!

We ordered a coffee table from this company back in October 2012 and are still without parts. The table arrived on a week day despite our request for a weekend delivery with the wooden piece in the middle broken. Three months on, we are still sending emails back and forth trying to get the issue resolved. Customer services is so poor, most of your emails will be ignored with no escalation process as they seem to have one man doing "everything". Steer clear for your own sanity.
