When we got our room the bedding had not been changed since the last tenant as was readily apparent from the hair on the pillow. When we mentioned this to the staff we were given a new sheet (that we had to put on!) but no new pillow-case or duvet. Disgusting.
We ewere impressed at the helpfulness of staff, decent food and very comfy accommodate. Room was showing signs of ongoing electrics rewfurbishment but this didn't affect the comfort of the room which had a big and very comfortable bed.
This is the best B&B we have ever been; the whole family enjoyed it!
Unfortunately we were only able to stay for one night as we had to travel further.
If we ever manage to come back to Launceston, we will stay here for longer than one night.
Landlord was very pleasant and allowed me to take tea and toast to our room one morning as my wife was unwell. Unfortunately we never met his wife but just heard her voice.
Parking was fine up a road behind the hotel.
2 rooms booked with 2 adults and 3 children. Nowhere near each other. No tea/coffee facilities as stated and was told they had an ant problem. Couldn't access any drinking water as sinks were so tiny with just enough room for toothbrush under taps. Asked at Reception for bottled water and could not provide us with any drinks whatsoever not even glasses or cups. No apologies given and we were all dehydrated. Not happy at all.
We only stayed here one day and didn't have breakfast, because it wasn't included in our package. The view is gorgeous. The owner is a very lovely person who provided us with the information we needed. But we didn't have much time to talk. We were in and out of the place a lot.
On our journey from Germany to Wales where we visited relatives we stayed overnight at Foxes Earth. After our arrival we got a warm welcome and an excellent recommendation for dinner.
The rooms are tidy & spacious (only beware of the sloping ceilings to not bump your head). The beds are comfortable, the bathroom is extra-ordinary. The full English breakfast is excellent, especially the fruit salad.
We went to Filey to celebrate my birthday, we wanted to discover Yorkshire, so we choose a lovely coastal village, close to York, with an amazing view of the sea. The All Season could not be better choice! We had a warm welcome by Lesley and Andrew who were so helpful and nice. The room was really clean up, very well decorated and charming, and plenty of details (could not forget mini chocolate brownies! mmm!). The bathroom was good size and high standard amenities. The everyday breakfast was simply delightful, tasty, well presented, local product... definitely fabulous! So... thank you very much indeed Lesley and Andrew for your pleasant and welcoming treatment. I actually appreciated to have Spanish cava on my birthday it was a painstaking courtesy! Much Love Ivan & Sonia
We had a friendly reception.
Th room was modern clean and and had all the things we neeeded.
Dinner was very good as was breakfast.
We then went to a wedding a few miles away and were able to gte back in at 1.am.
All in all a great success and to be reccomended.
The only downside was the chuch clock opposite which tolled on the hour- not a problem to us.
Our evening meal was not great probably because we were the only ones eating but the room and light breakfast was good.
The owners were accommodating and the breakfast was good. The rooms were clean. Only issue was the mattresses were uncomfortable
I book the White Hart before I read the reviews (silly me). I cancelled well within the terms but I'm still waiting for my refund a month later. The young lady who answered the phone said "the office deal with it" but refused to give me the number. She would get them to call - still waiting.
The B & B was warm, clean and comfortable. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. Not only did they recommend somewhere for an evening meal, but booked it up for us. This was probably the best evening meal that we had over our 4 night stay and good value. Simonburn is an excellent location for walking Hadrian's Wall and an interesting little village.
as stated above
We recently stayed at The Seaview Guesthouse in Eastbourne. The welcome was very warm and friendly from both of the Owners. The rooms were light and airy and we had a wonderful room with balcony looking out to sea. Sweets and freshly made cakes were always available in the living room. The breakfast was ample and very tasty.
We would definitely stay again.
Durn House is a fantastic place to stay! The location is lovely and quiet but only a short stroll away from the bay, pubs and shops.
The house itself is beautiful. It is tastefully decorated and each room is filled with interesting curiosities modern and old but never feels cluttered.
We stayed in the Dunbar Suite. This is an excellent room. Tons of space with a huge bathroom. The bath and shower are fabulous. The shower has excellent water pressure.
Personally, the only negative point for us was that the mattress was way too soft. This of course is personal preference but is something to consider if you like a firmer mattress. All other aspects of the room was 5 star.
We had a communal room next to our bedroom where we could watch a huge selection of dvds and help ourselves to a dram of the house whisky.
The other guests we encountered during our stay were also pleasant.
As serious London foodies, Dinner at Durn House was fantastic. I cannot express how important it is to book dinner at Durn House. We had a disastrous dining experience on our first night at another hotel restaurant. There is really no other establishment in Port Soy that comes close to the lovely dining experience we had at Durn House.
the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. the food at breakfast was fresh plentiful a good choice and very well cooked. only one tiny fault the sink was very small in the bathroom. would we stay again a definite YES.
ALAN & STELLA BATY
We found this place in great proximity to the railway station and the town itself. The room we stayed in was true to the online advertisement. The beds were very comfortable. The owners are very lovely people who serve delicious breakfast every morning. I would highly recommend staying in this guest house for a relaxing break.
We really enjoyed the holiday we had here. The Apartment had a wow factor as soon as we walked in. We'ed been to hexham a number of times before (staying elswhare) but this time we took our daughter (mid 20's) with us. It was an ideal location for an easy walk into Hexham for meals and pub visits. The train Station (Newcastle, Gateshead, Carlisle) 10-15mins walk and an M&S two minutes walk away for your shoppling needs. There was plenty of parking space at the apartment for when we did want to use the car to visit Hadrians Wall, Alnwick, Lindesfarne, Cragside etc. We will have to go back again because you always run out of time - too many places to visit - not enough time to see them all. See if you can get a guide/helpoer to take you round Hexham Abbey - We had a friend show us round and the history is amazing. The Owners are friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Loved it.
We spent four days at Ferndale House. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome by Christine and Andy. The food was great (large portions), the room overlooking the garden was perfect (modern and very clean). The beautiful area of Wye Valley and Forest of Dean on the doorstep. We shall be returning again. Very highly recommended.
Chosen for convenience the maisonette was very close to what we had to do. Cost though not really a factor was low. The old addage of 'you get what you pay for' applies here - the whole place was very 'tired'. A lick of paint and a kitchen makover would have made the experience more pleasant.
Not a pleasant stay - we were happy to leave it behind us.
The booking and administration of the accommodation was first class. Just the actual property let the whole experience down.
We wouldn't book a similar deal again.
Superb (room was a little small) but it was clean, bed comfortable and breakfast was just fine in splendid sorroundings - all in all "just what we wanted in Lincoln" and so close to the cathedral etc.
Nice clean room with view of the sea, good breakfast. The bathroom needs to be updated. Only a bath, no shower. No door to the bathroom which myself and partner did not like at all! Lots of stairs to our room. expensive to park in hastings.
We received a warm and friendly welcome on our arrival. The room my sister and I shared was very nice, spacious with good facilities and information not only on the B&B, but on areas of interest in the surrounding area. We were given good advice and clear directions (photocopied) on where to go for a very enjoyable evening meal.
We would certainly go back again and hopefully for more than the one night we had available so that we may enjoy a beautiful and peaceful holiday.
Perhaps the only criticism is that the signage from the main road could be much clearer especially when navigator and driver are in their seventies and eyesight is not the sharp!
The website for the Long Range does not do justice to the quality of accommodation. It is a very peaceful location with great views from the 1st floor and a lovely mature garden with tables and chairs to sit in. My room was clean and comfortable and my sister had the room below me overlooking the garden with a door to a patio to sit out on. There is also a conservatory and bar area as well as a comfortable lounge. We had a warm welcome and there was a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely stay again!
The Alhambra hotel is within good walking distance to the centre of York. Breakfast was good, however we found the waiting staff very unprofessional talking to each other across the breakfast room whilst serving customers, shame as they were lovely. Perhaps some training would be advantageous. The condition of the rooms are not perfect but for what we paid we thought it was value for money.
food very good, treated well on arrival, views excellent, staff very good, rooms clean but could do with updated, maintenance on balcony could be updated, privacy partition between rooms on balcony is required, carpets need to be lifted and floor boards screwed down to stop creaking, which is an unacceptable noise.but we enjoyed the break and would still recomend the hotel mainly for the food and lovely staff.
The site was fine - I booked 3 hotels, but I could NOT get the page to line up to print - on any if them -- basically only half was there. Copying '& pastiing took ages due to text boxes - one if them dropped the name if the hotel! Plus the big black lines use a lot if ink
Although a little way into town this guesthouse is on a frequent bus route and does have parking. Rooms were clean, spacious and quiet and the breakfast room overlooked a peaceful courtyard garden. I was however upset to find it's £10 cheaper if you book direct with the owners rather than via Toprooms.
If you are not looking for a top quality place to stay, but a comfortable, family run place of residence for a few nights, then I fully recommend this location. The staff could not do enough to help and breakfast was to order. My family and I felt most welcome and all at an affordable price.
I was however a little disappointed with my room, as I had booked for the family room with a view of the sea and had been given a room at the back of the property with a shared bathroom. With a young son, sharing the bathroom is not always the best option, as midnight toilet runs can be a little awkward. Apart from that though, I recommend this accommodation.
