The short version...I look 6 months off work to visit a member of family who was dying (I happened to be supporting my mother - SHOCK HORROR). I explained this factor on my return that I had probably (slightly) more important matters to deal with rather than checking when my birthday present voucher ran out. Obviously they are happy to take the money and then have the audacity to "offer me a discount" to book something else....AFTER YOU RUINED my birthday voucher present? Come on! Seriously?
After booking a track day for my sons 18th Birthday present, I paid in full and was allocated a date 5 months in advance the other side of the winter months.
After readying for travel and wanting to confirm the arrival time on track, my son received a phone call from Track Days saying they had not booked the track for him, and he would have to wait for another date to be available.
I rang Track Days and spoke to a chap called [Name removed] that couldn't give a stuff. My refund could not be made because they don't have accounts staff except on a Friday. When asked for the Directors name so I could write to them by way of complaint, the names would not be released because its some sort of big secret.
So after holding my money for 5 months, messing up the appointment, they expect to treat people with contempt. Spend money with them at your peril, there are better companies about.
We just got home with the best experience ever and we thank trackdays.co.uk and 6thgearexperience.com it was seriously a dream day come true but could easily have spent more time in the cars and on the track.
Thanks alot for making it possible to experience such a wild thing.
We will definitely use you guys again.
Track day's are a great way for people to get experience but the groups need sorting better in my Opinion.
I took my Rider to get used to new Race bike he was in experienced class as holds national license (used to be International)
Their where so many bad riders in the class it was positively Dangerous which is probably why each practice session was stopped mostly after 3 laps.
Only one session did we finally manage to get 4 laps in before giving up and going back home.
Too many riders riders riding erratically Its only time before a serious or fatal injury will occur which will be a shame because the principal is great.
I think someone should go round or have cameras at different points and riders black flagged and some one point out their mistakes.
So many times Riders in all classes diving into corners and just having to sit up as not on racing line if they don't fall of the bring others of.
I think a rider should be made to go up a group if they are very competent and fast safe riding but if they are poor riders then put into lower groups.
I think this would make the Track days far better safer and more interesting.
Maybe have an extra group you have some really nice people running the event i am sure it would not take much to sort out and the less time they would get would be better in quality an d safety.
I have another Rider i am thinking of putting on one of my bikes to race but have to admit i think it would have to be at a race day practice rather than a track day to try him out.
That's not just for riders safety but also the bike.
I do hope you don't mind me expressing my views i might point out been involved in Road racing for over 45 years from club to GP but GP only as spanner man
Brilliant! Excellent organising, excellent instructors, excellent everything. Really enjoyed whole day, and had my first instructor session with Gavin, which has changed everything and opened up a world of new possibilities for improving my riding.
This is how a track day should be organised ! Helped greatly by proper summer weather of sun and dry track and the usual high standard of MSV facilities. Wonder who had the gorgeous McLaren with taped over number plate ? Test drive ? It sounded fantastic.
tried to book up with No Limits a week before and all sessions were showing as full. Went onto trackdays website and was able to book up. The confirmation of my place came through a day or two later and away we go. Next time I won't mess around and I'll try here first. As a final point, it was a No Limits run event and there was no differentiation on the day as a result of the booking method. The No Limits instructors are always friendly and willing to give their time.
Quick and easy to view what's available and when (can be further refined to categories for specific months, evenings only etc) and with plenty of back-up information (maps, directions etc). Simple booking system and quick response.
I have just been to Elvington, York to do a junior supercar experience. It was a total surprise birthday present.
I still can't believe i drove a Nissan GTR and a Ferrari 360....I am 15 next week!!!
I would have liked longer in the cars and although I have never driven before, I did feel like I was being held back just a bit.
It would have also been nice if the instructor could have shown me what the car is capable of, even just for a quick lap maybe?
Despite that, I will be doing it again, even if I have to save up and pay for it myself.
This was my first ever bike track day so I was very nervous. The riders briefing and then extra rookie session were very useful to help settle the nerves, explaining how the day was being run, layout of the course, an explanation of the flags, and then some helpful info regarding adjusting tyre pressures, rider positioning on the bike, foot placement etc.
As I was in the rookie group we got to do 3 sighting laps behind the instructor and then went out for our first 20 minute session. We did 4 sessions before lunch and then 3 sessions after lunch, and I covered in total just over 120 miles around Snetterton, learning more about riding my bike in one day then the previous year that I've owned it!!!
The only bad part as far as I was concerned (and the reason I didn't give 5 stars) was that there were a few riders in my group who most certainly weren't rookie riders. They turned up with tyre warmers and bikes fitted with quick-shifters. On track they were much quicker than the true 'rookies' and were quite intimidating as they came flying past into corners. However by lunch time I was able to keep up with them a bit better, but still I would have preferred it if they'd been moved up to the 'intermediate' group once it was apparent how much faster around the circuit they were.
I'd recommend a bike trackday with trackdays.co.uk to any rider who is looking at improving their riding ability and confidence, in a much safer environment than the open road. I can't wait to do my next one!
