I am always cautious of money transfers. A forum website user group recommended Transferwise. I have now made 2 transfers and found the service speedy, with great exchange rate compared with my bank and a quarter of the charges for making the transfer. Well pleased and recommend the service.
Highly recommend TransferWise. I made a bank transfer last month of €500 to my UK account and got £395. Decided to try out TransferWise and €500 got me £410, the exchange rates were not significantly different. Will definitely be using TransferWise instead of my banks from now on! Usually is in my account faster than the TransferWise estimate too.
I've used TW twice now. On both occasions the rate and the charges were better than I've ever obtained elsewhere. The only complaint is that on both occasions, although promised, I have not received any confirmation email that the transfer has been completed.
I was a new customer and the registration process was really quick and user-friendly. I checked in Fxcompared and other comparison sites for the FX and transfer rates and for my transfer (amount and corridor) they were the ones offering the best value. That was one of the main reasons I chose them. On top of that the transfer was day within 24 hours even if they said 2 days probably. I liked the fact that they send me emails reassuring the money was going out, also when the money arrived. This is a big plus for me. Also the fact that I could send an email to the receiver to let them know they had money on their way. All in all, a very good experience and I have already used them another time since then!
I recently transferred enough money to buy a house. I was a little nervous using this service, but I checked out Transferwise with the FSA and HMRC as well as researching their company records. The bank I was transferring from was also a little nervous with a Latvian Bank. However, the whole transaction was really smooth, and they keep you informed the whole time. I sent money from the US on a Friday. On Monday it reached Transferwise and by Tuesday was in my account.
Yes, one must be very careful what review you can trust. That's why I first made a small transaction via TransferWise and then two big ones (GBP, UK bank account - EUR, GER bank account). Each time the transaction passed through quicker than estimated, typically within 48 hours. No hidden fees or deductions. I found the process very transparent and I will use TransferWise again. Yet, I recommend to check current exchange rates each time, just in case. Most importantly though: don't trust your highstreet bank. worst rates, longest transfer time. I hope this review helps your decision finding.
