I was very pleased overall and would highly recommend using tyreleader to anyone. Tyres were delivered by DPD which I rate as one of the best courier firms as they text you a delivery time down to a specific hour. I will definitely use tyreleader again in the future.
Our wheels were delivered in apx. 60 hours - brilliant! Don't think they are genuine Mercedes though, packing very poor, and the wheels need to be resprayed as the silver is scratching off, leaving the black paint underneath. By the time I have had these resprayed there will be little or no saving on the genuine Mercedes!
Undoubtedly one of if not THE worse online buying experience ever…PERIOD. Note that it’s taken me four months to calm down enough to write this review…I’m still angry now just writing this.
I was visiting family in the UK (from Amsterdam) for Christmas 2013 and was in urgent need of a replacement WINTER tyre (hard to come by at Christmas time in the UK) after a puncture, hence I ordered from these guys because of the swift delivery promise. However, things did not go as I expected.
The POSITIVE things… 1) I did eventually get the right tyres. 2) They were a good price. 3) That’s it - NOTHING ELSE was good.
The NEGATIVE things… 1) It might be a UK website but the company is a German one…
This company are apparently behind many of the cheap tyres websites across the UK and the EU. 2) As a result, your tyres - like mine - are likely to be shipped to you from Germany, so… 3) The website’s claim when it says “SHIPPING 24/72H” is TOTALLY misleading and probably deliberately so. 4) There are no contact phone numbers on their website. (Even if you do track down a phone number - like the one in Germany above - no one answers it.) 5) There are no contact email addresses on their website. 6) The company can only be contacted by an online form on their website. Each response can take DAYS…and there’s no other means of contacting them. 7) The tracking number supplied clearly showed that my tyres did not even leave Germany for more than 64H! The expected delivery date was now well beyond the time when I would be back in Amsterdam, so I tried to contact them to divert or cancel the delivery. 8) When I tried via the online form, the first response took 4 days. They asked if I’d given the delivery company (DPD) a new address - I replied immediately that I had. 9) When I contacted the delivery company, DPD - who have as corporate policy an initiative called “MakeItRight” (allegedly to instantly sort out ANY issues that you have) - were unwilling to change the delivery address unless advised by TyreLeader and would not contact Tyreleader to discuss it - or pass the phone details of Tyreleader to me for me to call them. Clearly, the tyres were now going to arrive AFTER I’d already left the country and would be back in Amsterdam. Instead… 10) …DPD then went ahead and tried to deliver the tyres (as I’d expressly told them not to) but found my family out (and in fact, I’d asked them not to accept delivery). So DPD delivered them to one of the children next door anyway. 11) When I eventually heard from Tyreleader again (some 11 days after I first warned them of the likelihood that the delivery was no longer possible), they agreed that they would pick up the tyres and give me a full refund…with a charge of £50 for doing so!!
In summary, they were suggesting something which would have been the same as my going to their website, giving them £50 and leaving again (admittedly I’d have been saving on the stress though).
In the end - because I still needed the tyres - I arranged at my own expense to have them couriered to another family member in another part of the UK, who was kindly able to store them for me until I was able to collect them when I was next over in the UK in March 2014. So my ‘cheap’ tyres turned out to be not so cheap after all.
Bottom line: if your only concern is getting tyres cheaply, then it’s your call. But if you have ANY need of receiving them in an acceptable timescale or want ANY sort of customer service, save yourself the time and stress by going somewhere else - it’ll be cheaper and less stressful in the long run.
I wouldn’t advise ANYONE to buy tyres from these people - they’re really quick to take your money and REALLY slow with everything else.
p.s. I would have scored them a "0" stars but it unfortunately wasn't possible...so I had to give them a VERY generous "1" star instead.
I had searched for tyres on all the usual sites and Tyreleader were by far the cheapest and offered exact replacements for the ones I had on my Fiat 500. I did not expect, but got, regular information on their delivery. Great tyres and great customer service many thanks; would use again.
The tyre I needed wasn't available in the U.K., it seemed. I sourced at at Tyreleader at an exceedingly competitive price. I bought it on Monday and it arrived earlydoors Thursday. I was able to track it all the way to my door from the moment the transaction had gone through. I'm now back in the driving seat to my delight. I can only recommend this company to anyone in the same boat and Tyreleader for making the experience so stress-free.
