Too bad Wimdu asks so much commission, because other then that they contribute to a nice and special holiday experience.

Already for some time I rent out my apartment through Wimdu to travelers from all over the world. I have to say that I am very enthusiastic about this. I only have had really nice experiences with really nice guests. Heartwarming experiences and the feeling to have new friends in all corners of the world.

My initial fear that something would happen with my house has been proven unfounded. All guests have been leaving my house clean, tidy and very often even with a little present or a thank you card. So in this respect I can completely advice you to use Wimdu.

There is one thing though that bothers me a lot: the high commission Wimdu asks to the guests. It can reach 17-20% (depending how you look at it) and this entire commission is been paid by the guests, without them knowing. The guests think they have to pay me €110 per night but I ask only €100, the additional €10 PER NIGHT goes directly into their pockets. And they also ask another additional 10% commission visible to the guests. This is a lot higher then on similar sites!!

De site ziet er fris en overzichtelijk uit en het type accommodaties sluit aan op de doelgroep. Ik kreeg goede hulp bij het inrichten van mijn pagina. Boekingen verlopen heel eenvoudig met enkele klikken. De reserveringsagenda is goed te beheren, ook vanuit andere online agenda's. Doordat beoordelingen van de accommodatie worden beloond, staan er veel actuele recensies op de site.

Wimdu is a great safe way to rent your apartment or to stay in a beautiful accomodation yourself.

Also you can see a great list of experiences and reviews of privious guests. It is much better than a hotel room because you have immediately contact with the locals and they can give you tips for the best places to visit. And of course it is much better to be in a apartment or house of someone than just another boring, expensive hotelroom.
So whether you want to earn some nice extra money for yourself or want to stay in a beautiful accomodation for the same price as a hotelroom, you will always be at the right adress at Wimdu!

Feel ripped off by Wimdu

We booked an apartment and paid in full. We were told that a confirmation would be sent within 24 hours. No confirmation was sent and the apartment we booked was still being advertised at a new price (£100 more than we booked it at). The owners obviously thought they could get a better deal by not hiring at original price. Really worried now. Lost £2700 pound and have nowhere to stay. Never use this company.

You didn't receive any confirmation because unfortunately the booking request was never accepted by the host (if you check in your account, the status is "expired"). However, you should have received an email in which we provide alternative accommodation and explain that, if the host doesn't reply within 24h, the whole amount that had been "frozen" while waiting for an answer is completely released. Thus, don't worry, you haven't been debited a single cent for this booking.

At Wimdu we always try to deliver the best experience for all of our users, but we can't directly influence the prices, that are autonomously set by the hosts. We advice them to answer guests' requests as soon as possible and to accept bookings if the accommodation is available. We're very sorry this didn't happen in your case, we'll get in contact with you as soon as possible to help you find a different solution that can still fit your travel needs.

Windu was brilliant, easy booking system, great hosts and great accommodation.

Our holiday through Portugal, Spain and Turkey was brilliant , made more so because of Wimdu, Wimdu hosts and their accommodation. Bookings were all very straight forward, completely reliable and timely. The hosts were welcoming and without exception went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. The accommodation was exactly what we expected and often went beyond expectation. We can't wait to do it again. Thank you Wimdu and all fabulous Wimdu hosts.

Works very well for renting out your place - and for renting as well I think. A bit expensive though.

I have been renting out my place with Wimdu for a couple of months now, and so far I had only good experiences. Only friendly and responsible people have been staying in my place - all of them happy with the place - and I always get paid on time.
I just think their booking fees are too high. So Wimdu - please lower your booking fees!

Best accommodation!

Initially, I was in doubt as my last holiday was my first experience with Wimdu. But surprisingly Wimbu has turned out to be my best accomodation ever! Would definitely recommend to anyone for holiday accommodation with feel like home.

Would do it again and again and again!

Unfortunately, I only started looking for a hotel / room in Düsseldorf (MEDICA) four weeks ahead of time, so I was pretty much stuck and left with places that cost 800$ a night. Thank God a friend's friend recommended this website. I was 2 km away from the fair grounds, price was ok and I got a very nice room and great host!

He utilizado windu para viajar a Berlin, me fui con 2 amigos y alquilamos una casa cerca del centro de Berlin, el piso estaba perfecto, limpio, el anfitrion nos atendio muy amablemente, nos sentimos como en casa, mucho mas comodo y economico que un hotel, ya que tienes la opcion de cocinar, lavar ropa, entre otros, es como estar en casa en otro pais!

Por otro lado he tenido mi experiencia alquilando habitaciones en mi piso en Barcelona, y he compartido y conocido muchos nuevos amigos a nivel mundial, es verdaderamente un buen sitio para alquilar o rentar desde una habitacion hasta un piso completo... Gracias Windu por brindarnos esta oportunidad a los amantes de viajes!

Wonderful experience staying in Wimdu B&Bs/homes

Before leaving for Europe, we decided to try to book accommodations offered by Wimdu. Booking was not a problem because there were so many places offered in all the cities we were going to visit. Altogether, We booked one in Barcelona, Sorrento and Rome and started to liase with the owners/hosts while still in Sydney and were given instructions how to find the place(s). It was actually a wonderful experience upon arrival in these places because it was like seeing wonderful friends after an exhausting trip. We are again planning to go to Europe next year and will definitely use Wimdu.

Wimdu does not care to support conversations between hosts and guests

We tried to book a flat in Istanbul. Got a splendid offer from a carefully selected host through Wimdu messaging system. When checking, prices for the period were 6% higher than host had promised, and did confirmed when we came back with that. Plus, of course, Wimdu fee of 17%.

We then asked Wimdu Support to help sort out the misunderstanding with some screenshots (can not sent images directly to host), and that was were conversation with Support ended.

Meanwhile, host abandoned our agreement, and accepted reservation from other customer. MORALE: Probably a great site for hit-and-run deals, not a great site for conducting negotiations.

Do you Wimdu?

Wimdu worked for us. However according to our host, Wimu made serious mistakes handling her listing. Wrong address. Wrong currency. If so, not good.

Wimdu is a great way to choose your accommodation around the world! I booked via Wimdu a few times already and can really recommend them. Easy to book and usually great value for money.

Do not ever book with Wimdu!

Wimdu is not a trustworthy company. They are simply stealing your money for shitty service and you cannot do anything about it. Do not give them your credit card details! It is not secure.

- they charge you full price of accomodation BEFORE you even arrive
- the accomodation was dirty, smelly, the owner did not speak English
- when we left after one night, we were charged for "Wimdu nonrefundable fees" for the whole stay, even if this was their blunder
- they will try to catch you on their polished website and reviews that they probably write by themselves but hosts are not verified and quality is not assured as they promise everywhere

Fucking thieves. They really made me mad and spoiled our trip.

WARNING! THEY ADD EXTRA PAYMENTS !

I Would like something very important.

you should be very carefull if you would like to use this website!

No other website has this regulation!!

they added a new fee without warning. if you have a house and you would like to rent your house for travellers.

for example if you had reservation from wimdu and accepted. but this is life ! something went wrong about the house , water is not working or you have different problems! and you would like to cancel the reservation! even you contact with the guest and even they accept this change.. when you cancel the reservation as a host! they charge you %15 penalty !!!!

for example if your reservation TOTAL is 1000 usd .. they charge you 150 USD! penalty for cancelling the reservation!

They would like to be sure they had their COMISSION! even the guests accept and even the service is not given! they do not care about you.

THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT HOUSE OWNERS - HOSTS!! NO ANSWERS NO CONTACT!

There are a lot of things to say! i don't know where to start.

I have few houses and As a host i'm renting my houses more then 5 years. I Take my job very serious and i'm a responsible educated person. My guests satisfaction is the most important thing for me.
we became like friends with my guests.

i had bad experience 10 days ago and they still did not answer my mails also there are No CONTACT PHONE! for emergency.

During the guests stay they reserved 2 of my houses during their stay.( 1+1 studio and 2+1 apt.) Because of municipality last minute pipeline construction without warning - my 1+1studio house became useless and i gave to Them my 90mt2 2+1 %100 fully furnished ,from full HD LCD tv to microwave + AC etc... house without any extra payment they stayed 11,6 euro per person which is a Dormitory Hostel price in istanbul. But since that minute my guest start complaining and she want me to fix the problem and move to studio. but it was impossible to stay there without water. afterwards she start complaining about the house and even i did my best to satisfied her she do not stop.

They did the check-out without any warning by theirself and after their check-out when i arrive to house i realised my vacuum cleaner is broken and they did not say a word to me. when i realised the situation i took pictures of broken vacuum cleaner and i contact with WIMDU waiting answer from them. now i need to buy a new vacuum cleaner. And they leave a bad review for my house in website which i totaly DO NOT deserve.

Some other Websites has Guarantee for the hosts. but wimdu has not . it's ok but they even they do not answer to help request. And i'm sure they will not do anything about this situation.

PLUS ; in this website they are some good reviews but most of them are fake because they give 30 euro for the good reviews!!
they ask a screenshot with good review and they give you 30 euro voucher for free. if the review doesn't macth with their requirements they do not give you the 30 euro.

Bad guests and Wimdu does nothing!! No answer for 3 weeks!!

Had guests that obviously had had a party at my place: one plant broken and thrown out, chip off one other plant, the toilet lid had come off, extra people had slept there, they had thrown 3 pieces of chewed chewing gum round the bathroom and so forth - I instantly contacted guests that denied anything had happened - contacted Wimdu, that lost my case and did not write me back for 3 weeks despite numerous enquiries - their answer was that they were going to do - NOTHING! Said that I should have reported this while the guests were still there(??????)

godt, men mest slet

Jeg har både været tilfreds, men også meget utilfreds, da stedet jeg havde søgt, var meget snavset og ulækkert, og slet ikke svarede til beskrivelsen. Jeg søgte et hotel samme aften jeg ankom, da jeg ikke hører til rygsæk-folket, og absolut ikke kunne be et sådan sted.
Så pas godt på.

Um, these good reviews are fake. Nasty, slimey, scummy, disgusting company.

Wimdu does not pay it's hosts. Search around the internet and you will see tons of reviews of Wimdu being so disorganized that they lose funds, can't figure out where they sent it and just not paying hosts. Do not book with this company. They are slimey and spend more time writing fake reviews about how great they are than actually handling innocent customer complaints. We are pulling our listing from their site. We never got paid. The guests were wonderful people and we know that they paid Wimdu upfront 6 months ago. This place is a terrible scam. We are now about 30 emails in to Wimdu requesting payment for a rental that occurred earlier this year. IF you have also been scammed by them report them to your local attorney general. PS- you will notice that once this review is posted Wimdu will come in and a review about how wonderful they are- unfortunately that is Wimdu lying. Nasty, horrible company. Really save yourself from a very frustrating experience and do your homework upfront. Do NOT use Wimdu.

Goede site voor iets anders dan een hotel

Erg goede site!

It is a scam company no contact no phone, do not use them!

WARNING When you see a good review of this company, it is the self or the hosts that wrote it, like the one bleow this review, when you read this one you know it is a scam. THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY! as soon as you hit pay, and then thats it, I am trying to get in contact with the host, but she hangs up, WIMDU.COM DO NOT HAVE A SUPPORT PHONE NUMBER, and the never answer their mails, i have paid 1800$ for a rental in new york, and the host then wrote me with 6 words that it have been rented out to someone else, but she didnt cancel my reservation, and i can't get in contact with Wimdu, So now i more or less just wasted 1800$ that i dont think i'll ever see again, i am going to put together a video with the full case so you guys can see what a scam this company is, let me give a quick example, on their page they say "you can call us anytime" but there is no phine number anywhere to find even a google search only comes up with a number in berlin, taht goes straight to voicemail at any hour of the day.

Great and confortable stay

Booked a room via Wimdu last Dec. Arrived at the place and was pleased with the neat and clean room provided being a short stay. Great recommendation and good pricing! Highly recommended!

clean simple room

Great apartments, easy to use

I booked an apartment with Wimdu just recently. The apartment was great, and everything just went extremely well. So now I am planning my next holiday, and there's no question about it - I'll book the accommodation with Wimdu again. I give them four stars instead of five only because the booking fee could be a bit cheaper.

I've booked a room in San Francisco for 3 nights, the booking was easy and the landlord was very friendly, before our arriving, they have sent us so many useful information. all in all, it was a great experience.

I highly recommend it for everyone!

WIMDU - The best option to find a cheap and nice place wherever u want. I was looking for some cozy and cheap studio house in Istanbul and it took me 5 mins to find it on Wimdu. I was really pleased and thankful.

This is an excellent website where you will find a new definition to manage your traveling. The idea of apartment renting brings to us a whole new experience! Everything under one roof with much more affordable prices and absolutely value for money! And you travel like a local staying in the apartment in one of the convenient neighborhood location. The best part is it is so user friendly, the website is not cluttered, simple and direct! Will just recommend to anyone!!

Great service!!!

Travelling with Wimdu is much easier. Many great places to stay. Last staying in Madrid was just perfect. Very nice and helpful staff.

Transaction though wimdu.de is very simple, no additional questions when arrive, double rooms for a very convenient price, just great.

I will for sure use WIMDU in future. Acutally, I am waiting for two next stays.

Good selection and easy to use

I used Wimdu for the first time this summer and it surely won't be the last! It was such a nice option compared to always staying in hostels, you have the possibility of privacy with very reasonable prices usually! I also love that Wimdu is very generous in sending out vouchers, makes me want to use their service more.

Easy to Use and Convenient

I was first hesitant about using Wimdu, then after checking all the rooms in Barcelona and comparing all the options online, I have absolutely no regret. It was also great to live with a local during my stay. I felt more immersed in the culture.

Reliable!!

I booked a private room in Berlin for the last holiday and it was great! We were afraid because that was our first experience, but it was perfect. The room was exactly the one shown in the pictures, the place was awesome and for the next trips I already know where I am going to search! Recommended!!

Easy, reliable and confortable!

I booked an apartement in Seoul, Korea thanks to Wimdu. It was easy to contact the owner, a safe way to find an accomodation in a foreign country and eventually the studio was very confortable.

Great hospitality in Hong Kong

I booked a 4 night stay in Causeway Bay Hong Kong for $95 US per night. Hotels were going for $200+ per night closeby. What a deal Wimdu gave me!

Great travelling experience

I had a chance to use the service of wimdu and I was really satisfied with it. I found the great price room in a city center where I could go to anywhere in less then 20 minutes. wimdu is highly recommended.

This is how travelling should be

My trip with wimdu in London was just great. The booking was incredible easy and I booked just 2 days before my arrival. The Host was really nice, giving me some tips for the area and London itself and I could just enjoy my stay perfectly.

I would recommend travelling with wimdu to everybody, it's cheaper, better and you feel more like a local when having the key to your own apartment.

First Time User of Wimbu very satisfied

We required a long term stay for four people with the ability to make meals. Through Wimbu we were able to get a selection of properties to choose from and a variety of price ranges. We were able to find an apartment which slept four and could have sletp six. The arrangements were very easy to make, follow up by Wimbu and the host were excellent. One advantage was that Wimbu handles the finances through credit cards (where others do not) which allowed us to feel more secure about the entire on-line registration process. Certainly would use their services again.

Very Easy, Reliable, Tons of Choices

I think WIMDU is just what everybody needs when looking for accomodation everywhere! It is easy to use, has lots and lots of listings and it is very reliable.
I had a wonderful time in Rome and WIMDU contributed to this as i had a beautiful room in half the price i found everywhere else but with the same quality,
I'll definately use it again and i have already recommended it to many of my friends!
