After refund problems with Airbnb I booked a lovely place in Mexico City with a delightful host, so my only Wimdu experience was excellent . But, in order to fairly write this review I went back to the website to search for places in areas I am very familiar with and I was not impressed. I found that there is sometimes no photo of the host, little or no information about the host or about the area/neighborhood. I love that (unlike airbnb) there is a phone number and a map on the website and the new cancellation policy is terrific. I would certainly use Wimdu again.
Discovered Wimdu as a way to attract International travelers to our short term furnished rentals. Their processes were cumbersome from the beginning and we only got 2 groups to stay from Wimdu ( they loved the place). Wimdu charges a crazy 20% fee for their rentals and consistently quoted our rates incorrectly and lower to us of course. This happened repeatedly. They also made if very difficult to communicate with the travelers themselves leading to many questions from renters that a simple phone call could have prevented. Customer service did not deal with the problems, called me at 6 AM, did not change the rates correctly, etc.
If you are a traveler and want to pay a large fee for a website to find your accommodations Wimdu works fine. If you are an owner - be careful...
Wimdu is very easy to use, you can find a lot of different offers for accommodation that can suit anybody's needs. The property owners are checked and approved from Wimdu, so the booking is safe. Money is not retrieved from your account until you get there and make sure that everything is according to previous agreement. Never had any problems with booking through Wimdu. Highly recommendable - easy, smooth and safe booking.
