123-reg works above the rest to help and make the whole process of purchasing domains simple, any problems that happen are fixed very quickly, within seconds most of the time.
Absolutely shocking! Just come back from a relaxing break for a couple of weeks to find a very unhappy customer's website to be taken down. I've called up 123-reg to find out what the problem was with my clients website. Eventually we found out that the domain had expired! Strange, because a couple of weeks back I got an official email from 123-reg saying that the domain had been 'Successfully' renewed and the email contained the new expiry date. Also just to confirm it had been renewed, the day after I got a direct debit notice with the amount debited.
Initially I thought I could just renew the domain and the website would be back up an running - how wrong was I! 123-reg wanted me to pay an additional £90 to get the domain back! They admitted the email was send out in error because the payment had infact bounced, which again is strange because for the past 5 years everything has been fine before.
Overall quite a shocking service. 123-reg tells you that your domain has been renewed (direct debit notice to back it up) then lets the domain expire and charges £90 for you to get it back.
Ok, lets say the payment did bounce, and the email saying it renewed successfully was an error to be sent. Surely you would of thought they would have sent emails saying its due to expire you have 'x' amount of days to sort it..... but nothing...
Beware potential and current customers, 123-reg expects you to pay for it's errors!

Recommended by my brother. This is a cheap and easy to use service ideal for someone getting started on the web. Recommended.
123 have come good again with their live chat support. i was up against the wire with a deadline and they have sorted me out. Why did I ever try to do it myself first. i could have saved hours.
123-reg have once again demonstrated how good they are at the domain business!
Their pragmatic approach to my problem was very reassuring. The staff at 123-reg are certainly praiseworthy, The company is easy to contact whether on-line or by telephone, both methods give the same efficient business like response.well done123-reg
I had trouble swapping my website and email addresses. I couldn't work out how to manage a couple of email addresses to point to my new website at 123-reg. In desperation I wrote to the help desk and received support very quickly. More than support, Dorin actually fixed my problem for me so I'm very pleased indeed.
If you want to make a website, for fun, for sport, to let people know what you are about or for business you can do no better that contact 123-reg and they will provide you with all the tools to make that website, your own domain name, hosting and website building all in one package. I have had my family website with them for years and they are the best at the job and very helpful in keeping the site going. They have a ready ear to listen to your desires and problems and will help get you online as quick if not quicker than anybody else.
I stupidly messed up some settings whilst mapping a new domain to my web hosting, and the help I received from 123-reg (who I have been with for several years with no complaints whatsoever) was instant, easy to understand, and, almost as importantly, very friendly. Each query was dealt with quickly and concisely, and the issue was resolved with minimal to-ing and fro-ing. Definitely recommended.
I've been a customer for years and have always been satisfied, even moved domain names to 123-Reg. I had an expensive domain name that I cancelled, what I thought was well ahead of renewal. The renewal date is 17 August and I cancelled on 27 July. A payment was taken from my bank account on 1 August for the renewal and I have been told that I can't have a refund! So I'm now feeling pretty hard done by. I also find it very interesting that I have to send a letter rather an email to complain -very strange for a company that's computer based! A very disappointing experience.
Can't recommend these guys enough. I had an issue transferring some historic domains from another provider where the email addresses associated were not used any more. Thanks to their help and prompt responses even after midnight this was all resolved. Love the control panel, love the support. Great job guys!

We purchased a number of domains last year, 2 as an experiment with a view to review renewal as and when it came around. 123-reg renewed automatically without my consent or any prior notification of auto renewal. When contacted and informed renewal not required , they informed me that they will not cancel and refund. After informing them that a case would be raised with PayPal the following threat was received.
"Please note that any Paypal disputes will cause your 123-Reg account to be disabled, and the disputed invoice and activation charge will need to be paid to reactivate your account."
Screen shot acquired.
PayPal reversed the transaction within 24 hours and the money is back in my account, we have now moved all domains away from this company. The threat and automatic renewal without notification is indeed sharp practice. To prove a point a colleague who has a number of domains registered with 123-reg checked his account today and noticed that all domains had been tagged for automatic renewal without his consent.
Avoid this company, there are far, far better and professional ones out there.

I've changed all my hosting to 123 after being recommended by a friend. I have found it to be excellent and the support is second to none. I have used the instant chat for support twice and they have answered all of my queries quickly and efficiently. An excellent service :)
You chat support has been very good overall.
However, I would really appreciate being able to talk as an alternative to text-chat. I appreciate that there are good reasons, including costs, for not making this the main method, but when things go wrong at the customer's expense (as they will occasionally) I think advisors should have the option of speaking live to customers who wish this, even at standard call rates. Reviews seem to be positive overall, but clearly include a good portion of very angry customers. It can be hard to appease a customer who is upset using chat.
I have been a customer (still am) of Reg-123 for over 10 years. Their admin has always been VERY clunky and not particularly intuitive, as is usually the case transferring out is not made easy. However, I stuck with them because of the cheap pricing.
However, the last three domains I bought with them all failed to be purchased. i.e. I paid for the domain, but they did not register it and if I had not contacted support that would have been the end of the story. Finally, I was trying to transfer a domain I sold, but it wouldn't work. So, at some point I will be migrating from this dinosaur.
Support is slow, but does work. You can forget about phone support, tickets only.
Charged me for a domain I no longer owned, charged way over the market renewal, emptied my bank account that i did not ask them to keep my card details, got a load of bank charges they offered £60 refund to remove review, this didnt even cover the renewal cost jokers, use gandi.net or godaddy.com
I've got a domains with them and my company email... now looking for a host and site builder and must say have a massive dilemma whether to use 123 or go somewhere else.... so far I've had few chats with them and found them really helpful and professional. not sure how good their hosting is but read few really bad reviews and need more research...had a minor hiccup with my email when cloud and me accounts didn't work and my emails were bouncing back,. not sure if this was verified as i've taken alternative email accounts from my clients....overall happy so far :-)
Having to deal with the IT side of website management can more often than not be an absolute pain. However, 123-reg has made setting up multiple domains, under one hosting package a lot simpler than it has been elsewhere. Found that regardless of my question, whether very simple such as transferring a domain or far more complex such as setting up domain mapping and changing DNS records, the customer service was excellent at providing on topic information and relating it to my specific account as opposed to just supplying generic help documents.
I hav contacted these people on so many occasions, asking for the business email to be cancelled. They insist on charging my credit card every month for a service i do not use, they simply do not care. There is no where on the control panel to delete this mailbox (you only hav control over the free ones). My only option is to cancel my credit card which i intend to do in the next few days. Avoid them at all costs, they make it as hard as they can for you to cancel.
I needed to re-upload my website and my browser was not showing the new updated website I had uploaded. With my knowledge limited in web-hosting and being a saturday I was stuck! Thank goodness for the lifesaving option of online support and Daniel the support agent who told me exactly what the problem was in a sentence.
Clearly out my cache in firefox sorted the problem out and my website is looking as it should again. 123-reg's online support is one of the reasons I won't go anyway else for my web hosting. Nor should you if you are looking for reliable online help even on a saturday!
I needed some changes making to my DNS settings. These were settings I could't make myself using control panel.
I mailed them on a saturday afternoon & within 20 minutes I had a reply saying the changes had been done.
2nd time I've made such a request and their response was the same both times.
I have been with 123 reg for several years, If you buy a domain and just leave it with them you are unlikely to have any problems, The problems start when you start taking extra services from them. Beware, once you buy a product off them it will be impossible to cancel. you will never get your money back, they will continue charging your account well after you have been promised a cancellation.
If you dispute the charge with paypal, they will just suspend your account and lock you out of your domains emails etc.
Honestly, just don't start with them, it is not worth the headache and the hassle.
Their support is awful, their customer service is shocking.
As you can see below a fellow called James asks me to contact him on a special customer experience email. I believe this is just a total gimmick to make it appear that someone is willing to help and it all has been a big mistake. James knows who I am User "algrycope" and can easily email me directly to sort out any problems.

Hi was concerned that my personal information was being leaked over the internet.
contacted 123-reg support as the issue was from information on a domain name that I own through them.
They were incredibly quick with there response and reassured me by showing me where the information was kept and how to deal with the problem.
Very grateful indeed.
We're a small web design firm and we use 123-reg a lot. Under normal circumstances their system is excellent, and we have no cause to complain. And their prices are probably the best out there.
However on 2 occasions recently I have had cause to use their "support" service and each time I am left in utter disbelief about how truly terrible it is. Canned answers. Contradictory instructions. They seem to read no more than the first two lines of your most recent question, and so there is no continuity.
Unfortunately this is the last thing you need when you have technical problems and your website is down.
I don't want to bore you with my experiences, but if you happen to be interested, or one of their support people is reading this review, I shall summarise my specific gripes below.
1. On one occasion, their domain cancellation system (which I use frequently and am very familiar with) failed to work. Rather than look into the error, they simply refused a refund unless I could prove (err....how?) that I had actually cancelled the domain. (We have since made it company policy to take screenshots of all cancelled domains.)
2. More recently, my girlfriend's domain expired by mistake and she had lost access to the email account used to manage it. Her error. Can't blame 123-reg for that one. Still, I thought it would be *relatively* easy to prove her identity and re-establish ownership..... heh....
It's now 5 days later. The website is still down. It's been 8 hours since we last heard from their support team. We have spoken to 6 different reps. Each has requested us to fill out a different form, or send them a different item of ID. Each time we send the ID. We hear nothing. We prod them. They ask us to send another, different, form of ID. We do. We hear nothing. We prod them. They request us to fill out a yet another form. ... you get the idea.
