This is an update to the previous review (see below).....I am leaving my first review here because what happened, happened and I still think that it is very important to read the fine print on Agoda's website and read your confirmation very carefully. This ordeal has taken up hours of my time BUT I am happy to report that I was contacted by Agoda's "customer satisfaction department" and they have resolved the issue that I had in a VERY courteous and amicable fashion. I really appreciate the integrity with which my complaint has been handled. I was surprised to get such a good response after my initial dealings with the company....but I'm pleased to have this turn into a positive experience. I have changed my rating to 4 stars...Thank you Agoda - I will use your website in the future!
If I could give Agoda.com MINUS stars I would. I think that this website is deliberately misleading. It's very strange to me that this is one of very few negative reviews on Trustpilot because there are terrible reviews all over the internet about this company....I wish I'd read them before I made a booking with them. We were suckered in by their obtuse representation. Their site is made to look like you're getting a good deal with "special rates" replacing original prices that are ruled out with wording like "only one left!" When I thought I was booking the HONEYMOON SUITE at a reasonable rate....I received a booking confirmation that is for ONE person. Give me a break....the Honeymoon Suite! Had I booked the exact room directly through the Hotel's website, I would have gotten a better deal!! It also states at the TOP of their page....RATES PER ROOM! Why on earth would a Honeymoon Suite have a maximum capacity of ONE....it makes no sense! I then called their 24/7 customer service and after being on hold for a very long time, a very defensive and rude woman could not respond to any of my questions and was not willing to change our booking to something closer to our budget and eventually PUT THE PHONE DOWN ON ME! They will not allow me to cancel the booking within 45 days of the booking and they are not willing to help me....so I am forced to go directly to the hotel and let them know of this company's terrible customer service. PLEASE beware of making a booking on Agoda....and read all the fine print very carefully. I DO NOT think they are in the business of helping people get great hospitality deals! BUYER BEWARE! They are apparently a subsidiary of Priceline, operated out of Singapore!
