I ordered a set of Team Dynamics Alloys without tyres from alloywheels.com. They arrived within 2 working days, the exact time-frame specified on their website.
I took them to Cowley Road Tyres in Uxbridge, Middlesex to get them fitted along with two new tyres (obviously I was re-using the best two of my old set of tyres), The guys at Cowley Road were useless to be honest. They took my old wheels and tyres off the car and fitted all 4 tyres to my new wheels without even checking first to see if the wheels would fit on my car properly... first mistake!
I was supplied with a set of spacers with the new wheels but the guy who was fitting them said he'd try without using them first - he claimed it would only be necessary to use spacers if the wheel didn't clear the brake callipers without them. Second mistake!
Having made those two mistakes, they continued to try and fit the wheels even though they had a terrible job getting them to sit right, they still tightened them on gently by hand rather than using their wheel gun. They managed to get two wheels on, but when they were fitting the third one, the centre section of the wheel snapped off and popped out - physically breaking the metal of the wheel in the process.
After much deliberation they eventually re-fitted my stock wheels and still charged me for their labour despite the fact they'd broken one of my wheels. They claimed it was a faulty wheel and that I should try and get a refund or exchange.
So while I was waiting for my old wheels to be re-fitted I sent an e-mail to alloywheels.com from my smartphone and included a photo of the damaged wheel. They contacted team dynamics and eventually between them they decided that it broke because the wheels were not fitted properly. The wheel was not bored deep enough for the hub of my car so when it was tightened on it effectively pushed out that centre section.
They were not able to refund or replace the broken wheel because Team Dynamics wouldn't take it back in that state (perfectly understandable) and said I should make Cowley Road Tyres pay for the broken wheel. I was back at home by the time I got this reply so I printed it off took it back down to Cowley Road, but they didn't want to know and refused to pay for the wheel or refund me for their labour costs, total waste of time.
I informed alloywheels.com of the lack of joy with getting my money back for the wheel, and they said they were willing to do all they could to come to a resolution that wouldn't leave me too much out of pocket in this unusual situation. I asked them if they were able to order me a replacement wheel for the broken one, and if I drove down to their garage in Rochford, Essex (a 60 mile journey each way) would they be able to try and fit them for free? I also asked if they could order me a set of alternative wheels (of my choice) just in case my first choice didn't fit? They agreed, and ordered in the requested wheels.
So I when I got there, it turned out that the Team Dynamics wheels I'd chosen were definitely not suitable for my vehicle, but my alternative choice did work, so they fitted the alternatives for me free of charge as promised. The alternative wheels I'd chosen were slightly cheaper Lenso ones, but a set of 4 of these still came to around £30 more than what I would be getting back for returning the 3 Team Dynamics ones. However, much to my surprise they offered me a straight swap, without charging me the extra £30 and they even threw in a free set of locking nuts which would normally cost a further £15. Given the circumstances I really can't fault the service I received from alloywheels.com and would happily recommend them to anyone. Avoid Cowley Road Tyres in Uxbridge like the plague though!!!
Alloywheels seemed like the perfect choice for me when I ordered rims for my Chevrolet cruze.
Unfortunatly it turned out to be quite a nightmare, the rims didnt match my car at all, despite me contacting support first to get a confirmation about the size and stuff fitting.
It took a very long time trying to convince the support, that my wheels didnt match, even with pictures this procedure took up towards 14 days to get them to understand my problem.
The problem is their mailing is very slow, I got 1 mail a day MAX, and one time it took 6 days for them to answer the mail, which made me quite frustrated.
Eventhough it took all that time, we made a deal that he would make TNT come by, and ship the wheels back to him, so in case this works out, I'm quite pleased with the outcome, eventhough it was a very slow process.
I've edited my stars to 1. I would never lay my money here again.
I ordered Dotz black alloys with Bridgestone winter tyres for my VW Tiguan.
They sent Dotz silver alloys and Lassa Tyres a budget brand. They refused to change them so I am currently claiming via my HSBC Gold Card who have offered a puny £50 so it is with the FOS Financial Ombudsman Service at the moment.
