Having been lucky to get rare Top Gear tickets, we all arrived early to the Top Gear test track to be told they would not be letting any more applause ticket holders as they were oversubscribed and only letting named people on the guest list in. We arrived hours before the doors opened, and as we turned our car round to drive the 2 hours back home there was a queue of cars probably going back 1/2 mile at least with people waiting to get in (with applause store tickets). Not a good experience.
Booked two nights in Birmingham as the main event was to be Britains got Talent auditions. Im aware seats are not guaranteed but as other people have said there is no indication on the print out at what time one is able to start queuing. Turned up two and half hours early to be told, no more seats. Staff were polite and apologised but not enough! Waste of hotel and car parking fees and I will be very reluctant to go again even though X factor audition ticket was offered apparently as guaranteed. Very disappointed as were a lot of others.
I have been to a few shows over the years with applause store, and never had any problems getting in and always enjoyed myself, apart from once with the x factor I turned up Just in time it Says on the tickets to be told they can't honur my proiety tickets, which yes we did arrive at the very last minute so I understood, but it was the rudeness of this man with bleach white hair that disgusted me, so with out saying a word I approached another crew member showed them my tickets and he said yep go through...so I was then really annoyed because it was clear to me that this white hair man just didn't like me!
But apart from that I have had amazing time with each show I've been to, and they now have changed the system slightly so you are not queuing for hours in the cold, you still have to get there early, but they give you a ticket for a seat as soon as you get there and then you can go off and have food drink shop etc intill the doors open.
This was the first time I managed to get any tickets from the applause store and I managed to get 5 tickets to Tom Daley's show Splash in Luton. We left Hampshire at around 4 pm which would give us plenty of time to get there and still be half an hour for the show, I know that the small print of the ticket says you are not guaranteed entry but It never said that you had to be there 4 hours in advance - we do have other things to do with our lives! We got to Luton and the car park attendant stopped us and asked if we were friends and family, we said no so he apologised and said it was completely full/over capacity - he also said he did not agree with the system! The part that annoys me is that they have issued tickets so surely they must know how many people will turn up! How can the venue be full 4 hours before the show if this is the case?!
Don't bother wasting your time unless you have a whole day to waste! I will be complaining to applause store directly!
What a sham. I'm so angry to have wasted my time and money, thinking we would get in and see the X factor final. They string you along and drop you when you've waited for hours to get in. Don't bother unless you camp out from early morning. appalling store should be its name.
I recieved tickets and then called to explain that i was driving three hours there and would i get in, they said yes. I got there and they said they gave away twice as many tickets as they should have!! I didnt get in they were full 4 hours before i even got there, why they dont send out an email saying 'we are full if your not here dont waste ur time driving here' kinda thing.
I have sent two complaints emails and they have ignored both!! What a waste of 6 hours and £50 of fuel
Having obtained 2 Applause Store 'unique' tickets online for 'Got to dance' auditions, we duly turned up earlier than the time stated on the ticket. We queued for an hour and were then told that the event was full up and there would be no admission. What?? What appalling management and poor treatment of the public. We wasted £60 on train tickets and ruined what should have been a happy day out. Applause Store: stop handing out more tickets than you can possibly honour, and on your website clearly warn people that even arriving hours early to queue is no guarantee of entry (not just in the small print on the e ticket).
I've got to say that although I'm clearly the minority here, I've genuinely had pretty good service with them. I've got tickets to Celebrity Juice, 3 showings of BritainUnzipped and the X factor London auditions with no problem getting in any of them (so far anyway!). I think it's unfair of the person who put that they turned up 30 minutes before to have a go. You do have to turn up way early (i waited 4 hrs for Celeb Juice) but clearly not everyone gets in. Disgusted by the treatment of the girls who waited 8 hrs and clearlyy this white haired guy needs to be fired. But I can't slate my experience so far. You never know though...i may be back soon with something far less positive. And btw, the other 4 (i think) starred review was definitely planted by applusestore. No one would write that.
I feel for all the poor people who were turned away after waiting for hours, especially in those cases where priority members queue-jumped ! But the terms are very clearly stated when you apply for tickets...
We've been to a few shows now and only been turned away once. Like most people in customer-facing jobs, the (probably severely underpaid) ushers are fine if you're nice to them, instantly stony-faced if you start to gob off.
But then again, we live in London, so being turned away is no more than an irritant and the cost of a Tube ticket. On the one occasion we didn't get in, on a fine summer's evening, we went exploring and found a lovely pub which we've since been back to more than once :)
I probably wouldn't bother using them if I had to make a long train journey though...far too much to lose !
We drove for 2 hours to see the biggest loser final we got there 2 hours early, pulled up to the studios to be told to park in a nearby Tescos. So off we drove to Tescos then walked the mile back to the studios only to be told then by a really rude man (with white dyed hair, who obviously didnt give a shit) that they were full up!! Why couldnt they just tell us when we were in the car?! So us and ATLEAST another 100 people had to walk back a mile to our cars having driven there for no reason what so ever. Seriously poor service. I understand that they can and do get fully booked but the attitude we were treated with was awful. Will NEVER use them again
Misleading buggers. Deliberately allow people to expend both time and money to attend an event thinking that they have a 'valid ticket' when it is only fit for wiping ones ass with!! STOP AT HOME AND WATCH IT ON TV!
After experiencing similar problems to the majority of reviewers here, I thought I'd pay extra and become a priority pass member to try and guarantee a seat - bearing in mind the travelling expenses incurred just getting to and from the venues.
Well on the 3rd October , 2011 we made our way to London's Shepherds Bush studio to watch Chris Moyles' evening show. We arrived in plenty of time, had a meal and made our way to the studio, an hour prior to the notified performance time. However, we were met by an Applause Store usher (Josh - with the dyed white hair) who informed us that the show had been brought forward to 2pm! He said that everyone had been emailed that day to pre-warn them. I checked my emails and no such email had been sent to my account.
What a wasted trip and return train fare expense. On writing to Applause Store to express my disappointment and requesting some sort of compensation due to the fact that they clearly had not informed me of the change, they simply have ignored me. I have written to the BBC, who did promptly respond, but could only refer me back to the Applause Store. Repeated emails to the Applause Store have still produced no response whatever.
Clearly, the shows require audiences and this is the most efficient way for the organisers to populate the studios - by offering free seats. Unfortunately not everyone is guaranteed a seat - I understand and accept that. However, it is also clear that the Applause Store infrastructure is under resourced, lacking in admin support and obviously staffed by untrained people who lack any respect for those who actually pay money to receive a service.
These pathetic individuals simply see themselves as cattle herders, cutting off the queues as soon as the numbers are made up and if there are short notice changes, their attitude is "tough" and they feel no obligation to provide accurate and reliable real time information.
I will continue to write to them and to any forum I can find, recording every communication, eventually becoming such a pain that they will respond.
Please see below a copy of the email I sent to Applause Store with regards to TEXT SANTA on Friday 23rd December. I am extremely angry. My daughter and her friends were very much looking forward to taking part in this fund raising show and in particular to see Ant and Dec. Believe me after EIGHT hours standing in the pouring rain and not to be admitted they are NOT feeling very charitable!!! Please can you do something by way of compensation for my daughter and her friends and also, stop Applause Store from over issuing seats. This not only reflects badly on Applause Store but also on ITV!.
"I have just been contacted by my daughter who was allocated four tickets by Applause Store for Text Santa for Friday 23rd December. They left Hampshire at 8.30 am and arrived at the studio to take up a place in the queue. They have waited EIGHT HOURS only to be turned away because priority ticket holders were admitted and no one else were given seats. Not only have they waited ALL DAY in the pouring rain they each had to pay train fares as well. They are all students at college and can ill afford to waste cash on a wild goose chase.
They are angry but I am LIVID!!! If there is not a hope in hell of getting admitted to shows you advertise then DONT hand out tickets. Please reply to this email. I am contacting other agencies including ITV about this. Maybe as some sort of compensation you can give priority membership to these girls. I realise that seating is not guaranteed but you would expect being in the queue for EIGHT hours would be enough to have half a chance. As it is Christmas please show some Christmas spirit and award free priority membership to my daughter and her friends because at the moment they do not feel very Christmassy and feel VERY let down by TEXT Santa!!"
Had to rate one star because my review wouldn't be added if I didn't put any at all!!
The show sounds good.. How can you have 'preferential' tickets and still not get in? Simple...Applause store cannot count, their security is ineffectual and their attitude pathetic.
So thanks for the 'Free preferntial tickets' (Preferential because of the right royal pissing around we had on a previous occassion)
Thanks for the opportunity to spend a lot of money we can ill afford on train tickets to arrive early and still not get in.
Thanks for the disappointment etched on children's faces in the freezing cold.
Thanks for the pleurisy...
Dear Applause Store make your New Year Resolution to change your management or close your doors...You are as much use as a handbrake on a canoe!
Merry Christmas
Arriving half an hour early to a Text Santa audience which I thought would be fine, to find around 200 people standing outside waiting. Getting in the queue to realise the studio was already full before the door opening time on my ticket!
No one informed us about anything, that the studio was full or we should leave as we were standing in pouring rain and cold winds.
Very poor service and I wont be going to any more of these audiences no matter what or when it is.
DON'T BOTHER GOING, YOU WILL ONLY BE LET DOWN AND TREATED VERY POORLY! ABSOLUTLE WASTE OF TIME AND EFFORT FOR CARELESS PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great sit for getting free tickets to tv programmes, however tickets are't always avaliable. However, they do state this. Also, they tend to give out way over the capacity of the studios so many people get turned away. Again, however, they do state this on the website so it is down to the ticketholder to get there early enough as to not be turned away.
They treat you like an object. They totally mis-manage their quotas, have a ridiculous system and basically will be happy for you to print your tickets off, take a day off work, travel to their venue HOURS BEFORE their stated opening time for the show, queue in the cold for hours and then they just say "sorry we are full" and then want you to go home...
Seriously they do not give a flying F*** that you are a human being and might have better things to do than being their stooge for the night.
i have nothing but contempt and disrespect for this company as human beings. DO NOT BE THEIR BITCH - LET THEM DO WITHOUT THEIR AUDIENCE, THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOU. SIMON COWELL SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF USING THEIR ABUSIVE COMPANY.
I have never been given any tickets for the shows I have applied for, so what's the point!!!!
Not convinced their wait list ticket system works. I was recently on their wait list and was informed that when I received an email I was to select dates and return email. They would then be issued on first come first served basis. I received the email on my blackberry and completed the form within minutes. Nothing
