I've been ordering 5-6 times with this company these last 6 months. I'm always amazed with the bargains I get on the food and other items they have. So far I've only been disappointed with some mustard, which had a weird taste. And of course the date was passed. I'm really angry at their customer service which threat me twice like garbage despite the amount of things I got from them. Their answers are late, even if they do mistakes they never refund you, in my last order half of my items were missing and they only told me once the delivery was on his way asking me to pay the entire delivery fees and without apologizing or asking if I was fine with that and I'm still waiting for any answer after my complaint. It's been days. Let's not forget the fact they use this company for their deliveries (city link) and so they come betweem 7 am and 6 pm - you have to stay home all day. I can't wait to find the same food and prices somewhere else then I won't bother to order from them again.
If I could give zero stars I would. I very very rarely have anything to complain about but have to warn people before using approved, I started off as an avid fan, filling my cupboards for incredibly low costs. The delivery charge is actually quite reasonable when you realise how much you can get and the choice and quality was very good. However and this is the bit people should be careful of.....I made my third order a few days ago and looked forward to the swift delivery, when it arrived, I discovered a very badly packed, well should I say not packaged at all, bottle of bubble bath had leaked over a large quantity of of my items. When I contacted them, initially waited along time for a response but after messaging on fb, a gentlemen got back to me saying they were under staffed. He promised to refund me due to having to clean everything and the bottle being damaged. I had this in writing and photographs of the incident. However a day later I was then informed that they were no longer doing this and had to review my photos with the manager, they refused to refund unless they took all the items back and then decided if to refund. so because of there mistake I would end up with no shopping and a possible refund in over a weeks time, if they decided???? this is crazy. After numerous emails etc, I have given up. They are obviously very under staffed and have a poor or should I say non existent return policy. :-( now they just wont contact me back and have ignored my messages.
haven't ordered from them for a wee while and usually my order arrives 2 days after I have submitted it online.ordered on the 1st of may and only after firing some emails back and forth did I finally get my order picked and processed on the 7th with super quick delivery by city-link on the 8th. excuse I got for the delay was that they had a backlog, well might I suggest you hire more staff to cope with all the orders as I really can't be bothered waiting a week for food!
Just recieved 2nd order :) am made up . Even though a mistake was made on 1st order they were quick to put right an so apologetic which is rare in companies now days . Defo worth ordering from them :-)
At this day and age, when most normal people are struggling with surviving in this recession, Approvedfood is God sent. They sell the food at much lower prices. This is because the food is just about to go past the Best Before date or has recently passed it. They are legal and these sales are legit, but I know some people have problem with eating foods past Best Before date. To me this is not a problem, as I know food is safe, and I have been shopping with them for about a year.
I love that they sell some foreign made foods as well, I recently had luck to buy some Spanish vinegar which was the best vinegar I ever tried. Had to immediately re-order 10 bottles which is great, cos they were gone in no time. Also the couscous was great, and not to even mention the sweets selection. I also often ordered stuff I wouldn't normally buy, just to try them, and sometimes you don't like the taste, but at least you haven't wasted a fortune.
The courier cost is about £5 for I think 25 or 30 kg, so I just need to make sure its worth the money. The basket shows the total and individual weight of items, so you can play til you get it right. It's ever so easy to go over the limit, so set your maximum in advance (like with Ebay) and then stick to your budget.
Delivery has been fantastic too, they use DPD and I love knowing what time my delivery will arrive.
I had emailed customer services twice begging them to rush my delivery due to various personal reasons and they did. They replied to my email within an hour or two, so customer service has been impressive too.
The only negative side is that the stock goes quick. But that is totally understandable. So if you see something you like - buy it now, cos it might be gone by tomorrow.
So all I can say is: Thank you Approvedfood for helping through these tough times adn selling some great stuff.
The website details of products can be a bit vague on some items.
However, the Customer Service has been second to none the 3 times I've ordered. On the last order I received a link to the carrier DPD within a couple of days of ordering. DPD in turn EM'd and texted me the delivery date which was 2 days later.
On the delivery day DPD texted and E'md me what hour time slot I would get delivery. The order arrived in that time slot.
With about 2 hundred items ordered, I was pleased to see that there was just one missing small packet of biscuits (7 instead of 8 packets). They had already informed me by EM that one product was now out of stock and credited my account with a 10% credit for the inconvenience.
They duly also refunded this cost when I mentioned it in an EM to them.
I've used Approved Food a few times because of their fabulous bargains, although I must say their postage charges do put me off at times! The reason I started using Approved Food was because of my terrible financial situation, so when I see how much I'm supposed to be spending in postage charges it REALLY puts me off! Also they emailed me to say they would be putting an ingredients list on their website but never did, which makes me frustrated/angry!
