excellent service

yi buy alot of different products from Argos and whether or not i buy with an extra guarantee their returns policy is second to none. the only fault i can find with Argos is when they run promotions or vouchers they never seem to have the stock to back them up especially nearer xmas time

21 August 2010

excellant

this is my first time with this company, and from what i can see its excellant

20 August 2010

Great returns policies and helpful staff

Argos is always a great place to buy things, just because they dont fob you off to the manufacturer, they take returns off you and deal with their manufacturers directly, where as most companies would tell you to deal with the manufacturer. I rate argos highly for their outstanding customer service.

Great choice

Just bought a camera. Reserved it and then collected the following day from my local store. Very efficient and I like the real-time stock availability function on-line. Saves time and wasted effort. Prices are good too. The only criticism I would make is sometimes availability is poor. A few weeks ago I tried and failed to reserve and buy a sunlounger but it wasn't available in my 5 nearest stores - this in the middle of summer was very disappointing. This was unusual but i thought I would mention it.

GREAT PRICES BUT POOR SHOPPER EXPERIENCE

The prices in ARGOS are always excellent but I always feel like I'm inconveniencing the staff in the shop. There are some ARGOS staff who make it a pleasure to shop (despite what always feels like an interminable wait to collect my purchase), but on the whole, even when the shop is quiet I get the impression the staff would rather be anywhere else. Maybe it's just me..... I know I take service very seriously, and am happy walk out of restaurants etc. if the service is poor (or indeed non-existent) but it can be very frustrating to have to wait for staff to take the purchase off the shelf behind the counter and pass it to you. I assume climbing over the counter to get it myself would be frowned on?

Argos is amazing!

Ive bought several products from argos and they are all great! All the products I have bought are in great condition, the argos service is fantastic. Also the product made by argos themselves are amazing value and work just as good as popular brands.

have i been accused of attempted fraud by argos?

bought a camera 22/5/10 and used only once. took it back to argos as faulty. after being told it would be sent for repair and take up to 16 days i asked for customer serivces phone number since i was not impressed as i needed the camera today. the assistant could see the obvious fault but still i would not be able to exchange it. i had reserved the last one yesterday to replace it so they had no excuse (after getting stung previously with another item). very reluctantly i was given a number and phoned as soon as i got home. spoke to joyce at customer services who explained the assistant was right but it would take up to 28 days to repair the camera! i dont want a repaired camera i want a new one after only one use. i was offered a reference number which i refused since i couldnt see the point and livid i hung up. minutes later joyce to her credit phoned me back and had arranged with another store to exchange the camera and i had to collect the faulty one and drive 10 miles to get it. i wanted the one at the same store i had reserved. after several phone calls joyce managed to get the ashton-in-makerfield store i went to, to exchange the camera. she did inform me argos didnt have to and it was an act of good faith and also that the manager Trish was not at all happy about it. what has it got to do with her she just works in the shop? thankful i didnt have to purchase another camera today my husband returned to the store to do the exchange and eventually we have a camera for tonight. on opening the box the printed label with the store number on also has the letters SCAM hand written. what does this mean?

It never used to be like this.

About a decade ago, when deciding for purchase, our first choice would usually be Argos. They had a decent service, they delivered there and then, and if there were ever complications, it wasn't a problem to solve.

However, the love affair with Argos is officially over as far as I'm concerned. If you're ever considering purchasing a washing machine or electronic item, Argos will be the last place. Our washing machine broke down last year in october, and it was replaced with a Bush. Waiting for it to deliever is hard enough, not to mention it was late by a week, but it's not entirely a theme park washing clothing by hand. So we bought a new one, a BUSH model for around £239 more or less, and it broke down within the warranty 2 months ago in May.

Well thats not quite the full story. When we set up this BUSH washing machine and started it up the washing powder draw would open and flood the floor while it was on.

So we decided it would be better to return it and get a full refund, only to find out they send over someone who called himself a 'repair-man' to fix it. He was very arrogant and rude, and refused to accept that we should return it for our money;- we suspected he wanted to bodge it so the warranty would expire; so we replied back, saying we would extend the warranty if nessicary. So we wait 14 days for the phone only to be told 'He couln't find the parts' and offered the refund instead. (I wonder if it was something we said.) However, even still there was a catch. We had to wait another 14 days for it to be collected and another 7 days for the money to be returned for the bank account. Although that doesn't seem a long time, it is when you have a full time job AND need to handwash all the clothes simultaniously for that long.

So we purchased another washing machine, and we were given a date to collect it (1st of July) however it never did. We rang them up only to discover that we had 'not allowed enough time' and that they would contact us in 28 days. This is rediculous. This will be the last time we ever purchase from argos again.

Almost perfect

I purchased a travel cot Red Kite

Item is very good, delivery 1 day longer than expected. Fairly happy with service.

Thanks,

no complaints really

The customer service team arent the greatest in the world, but for what must be a pretty repetative dull job, they do it pretty well.
theyre polite enough, not entirely enthusiastic, but straight to the point, give you the information you need, and dont waste your time.

theres been a few times ive been in to look for several products and none of them have been in stock, but i guess when you have a catalogue with around 2000 pages of products, thats not bad going really.

they also always have sales on, which is a plus in my books!

Bought 2 breville £40 kettles..both began to leak after 13 months. other kettles had lasted several years. Argos refused to help, with no apologies andno allowance against new ones. I and my family will not be shopping there again....ever.

Good range of options but often out of stock

I like the fact that it's possible to either buy online or reserve in store, but often the thing I'm looking for is out of stock. I haven't had to deal with customer service

Can't fault service really

I have bought numerous items from argos. Most have never had problems but the odd one now and again. The customer service can be difficult at times but i find being polite to the staff usually gets you somewhere. I take into consideration they are busy and stressed so i find a friendly face usually goes a long way to resolving any problems. Once you explain any issues they are usually helpful.Just check the policy of certain items for example cameras which can't be returned after a certain period. In general Argos is reliable. It's not perfect by any means but you could do a lot worse

In stock, good price and easy to ring and reserve for pickup

Just bought a new vacuum cleaner from argos.
Easy to use website, was able to quickly check stock availability for the item i wanted around my area with a couple of clicks and the reserve item service worked well. (reserve id sent to my mobile phone and email)

Buy cheap, buy twice...

I'm always keen for a bargain, but I always make sure I'm paying less for a quality product. Argos seem to have gone to the other extreme, offering the cheapest, shoddiest goods in an attempt to always be cheapest. Ten years ago or so, I was more than happy to shop there, now I don't even consider them for any purchases.

For example, I bought a £9.99 lawn mower from Argos as had FOUR replacements in the space of 48 hours as they all broke, or never even worked first time. Never again!

Also, their stores used to be quite nice, clean, quiet places, but they seemed to have turned into grubby indoor markets covered in tatty products and ignorant staff.

Appalling service

I ordered a mattress from Argos after requesting gift vouchers from family for this very purpose. Found one I like for what seems a reasonable deal so went to order it only to find out that it can't be ordered online, so off I go to the local store (Macclesfield) on 19th January. There I order the product and am told that "We will contact you before 7/2/2010 to arrange delivery".

This period passes and no one has called so I email them saying how this isn't really on. After exchanging automated emails a person is kind enough to email me back to say that they will "contact you by the 14th of March 2010", another 21 days!

I then emailed back saying I wasn't happy about that and wanted a full cash refund. Of course I can't have that because I have paid (partly) in gift vouchers. I'm also advised to contact the store manager to discuss it further. I email asking them to confirm that a manager has reviewed my order and that I should now deal with the store manager... then they call me.

They are very sorry and explain that the reason for the delay is the supplier but they will attempt to get my mattress from a different depot and will call me again within 7 days to arrange delivery. After 10 days I have heard nothing more so I email again to complain officially.

A few days later someone calls me. At this stage I am told that the reason they haven't been able to arrange delivery is that the product has been discontinued! They are really sorry but still cannot offer a full cash refund, I want Argos vouchers like a hole in the head so I'm offered an alternative product, which I chose and am told that someone else will call me to arrange a delivery date within 5 days as per the website availability.

After 3 days of hearing nothing I call to try to arrange delivery myself but I'm told I haven't left it long enough (6 weeks!).

The next day I call again and am spoken to in an extremely rude manner and (shamefully, yet understandably) get involved in an argument, this ends with the Arg

poor quality, customer service very poor

When arranging delivery or checking on status of an item the customer service staff seem to lack any interest at all. There was no customer care just a feeling of going through the motions! The item we purchased was a flat pack bed and the finish was shoddy with pieces missing and the wood splitting as soon as a screw was in place. One month on the beds wheels are falling off and the bed frame is wobbly. The worst £350 I've ever spent and certainly will not be buying large items from them again. I should have gone to Ikea or Dwell as I was going to!!

30 January 2010

Nothing available

Time without number I have tried to buy items from Argos and they never seem to have what I want in stock either in store or on their website. Last week I tried to purchase Salter Knife sharpener, although it was in the old and new catalogue they were not able to supply it. Thank goodness for John Lewis they had the item at the same price and did not charge for delivery. Arrived two days later from order. Next time I check out with John Lewis first.

On the whole an ok site, and ok customer service

I have used the web site to reserve products a few times and never had any trouble in doing that.

I have returned a few items as they were damaged or not fit for purpose and never had any problems in doing so. Even if the staff seem a bit distant when they are serving you (might be to do with the argos gene).

01 December 2009

Complete rip off!

Argos do not know the meaning of "good" service! I recently purchased a digital camera using the Reserve and collect service. The website did not and still does not indicate that digital cameras are exempt from the 30 day money back guarantee. As the camera was to be a birthday gift, I typed in my boyfriends details and an Argos text was sent. The text also did not make it clear that this item was exempt from the returns scheme. My boyfriend then purchased and collected the item. The problem began when I tried to return the camera. After contacting customer services and explaining the problem they investigated my accusation seemed willing to help by speaking to the store. The store agreed to a refund and I was assured that the matter would be resolved. Not so, when I arrived at the store I was made to feel immediately under examination by the employee who was dealing with me. Looking at the receipt he seemed happy that he had apparently found a way to get out of keeping the stores word. The receipt has been highlighted in yellow marker pen which he believed was enough evidence that I did not deserve a refund. The fact that the sales agent did not verbally communicate the strict policy did not seem to bother him. I was refused a refund once again and left to contact customer services by phone. After waiting for half an hour I finally got through to an agent, who informed me that he would not give me the number for anyone who I could make a complaint through and the store had final say. I was left wondering what exactly was the point of Argos customer service as all they appear to do is give out contradictory advice. I have been failed repeatedly by Argos and I am left hoping that a rival company comes along and reminds them that customers and our loyalty are the reason for their success!

Good prices easy to return shoddy goods

Having said that the home delivery is a different story sloppy call centre staff etc .
But the good news is the stores are fairly good but I can't understand why there is always a q. On more than one occassion I was the first in line at opening time for a basic item and after paying still had to wait another 15mins to get my goods. I think the problem is they only employee part time staff

argos review

needed a new pair of heaphones to replace the sub standard ones that came with my iPod Nano. I work right near an Argos store in Richmond so thought it would be my best bet. I used the online reserve facility as I didn't want to waste my time looking through the catalogue and then finding out what I wanted was out of stock whilst on my lunch break. I went in and at first was puzzled to see no staff on the tills until I heard someone pipe up "you ready to pay madam?" It was easy to hand over the scrap of paper I'd scrawled the reservation number on and once I'd paid I only had to wait 1 min. Staff were polite (unlike staff at the Chertsey or Peterborough stores) and it was pretty painless for once. Maybe the online reservation was what made it simple...

10 August 2009

Terrible aftersales service

The defective product was not the problem of the customer services department it seems, but of the store from which I bought it. I now have to go through the inconvenience of dismantling it (It's a desk - which won't easily fit in an average sized car when fully built) and arranging transport to get it back to the store. I guess I will also have to foot the telephone bill for the time I spent in the call-centre qeue

20 July 2009

Order Never Came....

Ordered "Hanna Montana" rubbish online, that was not in stock elsewhere, and PRINTED the last "Checkout Page". I got an email order confirmation but nothing else. The item didn't appear.

I'm no novice, probably order 50 items a week from dozens of suppliers. They obviously lost the order. Would you trust them with your credit card details.

Ordered from Amazon later that week. It arrived two days later.

Who would you use?

31 May 2009

Argos is great, but not so great at home delivery

The problem I have with Argos is their poor management of home delivery. I really like Argos other than that, enjoy browsing their catalogue. They also have good selection of products.
The home delivery system though is so awful, ive spent whole days waiting for argos and wasted whole days after they didnt arrive or notify me. They simply said 6am to 6pm. Which they dont even adhere to. There was one time they didnt arrive on a Wednesday, They didnt, wasted day, I was then told they would arrive on Friday, and guess what they arrive on Thursday and they are lucky I had just arrived home 5 min earlier.
