Selling Second hand items with parts missing, RUBBISH

Purchased a pair of Nikon Binoculars from Argos, i had to drive 60 miles to buy them as my local store had none in stock, when i was handed the binoculars in the shop i noticed that the seal had been broken on the box and replaced with a white sticker saying Opened and Examined by (initials) 12/7/13, i ask the woman who served me what this sticker meant and were the binoculars customer returns, she said no they had been opened to check the contents, when i got them home and removed them from the box they were covered in dirty greasy finger prints and the lens covers were missing, they had obviously been used, i sent the Argos customer services 2 emails and phoned them 3 times before actually speaking to someone, who told me to return them if i did not want them, i would not have driven 60 miles to buy them if i did not want them, THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICES I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH, and make sure you carefully check your Argos purchase, it could well be SECOND HAND.
