Ordered 3 things from Argos totaling £300, and they charged over £8 delivery, when others give free for larger orders. Fair enough, but they are yet to fulfil the order, and will not until December 13th, so I contacted them via their website (through email).
No response, they do not even acknowledge I have sent them a complaint. After watching Watchdog this week, I found out Argos are ripping off people by using a premium rate number just for complaints, so maybe thats what their waiting for, to earn of every complaint.
Very poor experience.

Oh no the time slot is 7am - 8pm.... so thats all day waiting! day off from work - so anyway ordered and waited and waited and waited. the attachments arrived at lunch time. Strange i thought that they would come together but hey ho hoover will be here soon. Waited and waited till 8pm.... still no hoover. Next day i phoned customer services apparantly YODEL the courier service have lost it and are looking for it in there warehouse. mmmhhhh wotever. Day 3 have now been told it could take up to another 72 hours and then if it still doesnt turn up they will send another one!!! What a JOKE!! Have now asked for a refund and they have informed me it will take up to 7 YES I SAID 7 WORKING DAYS TO GO BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT!! Serioulsy i go online and transfer money most days and is practically instant. I am now in the process of writing a complaint. ARGOS I WILL NOT BOTHER WILL A DELIVERY FROM YOU... Thanks all the same
I never have any problems when buying from Argos. The staff are generally helpful (not always cheerful though!!).
Never had a problem returning or exchanging any items that I have purchased from them. I use them both online and in store.
Four months ago we ordered a double bed off Argos. It arrived with no issue.. until we tried to assemble it! The supporting beam was welded on so squint it would never have passed their apparent "quality control tests". I called up and arranged a replacement to be sent out two weeks later. The next day I got a call asking me to book a slot for the new bed to be sent out! This happened three more times before someone at their end was able to click the confirm button. However, due to the people who couldn't understand how to click the confirm button the delivery slit was one month later in the middle of the Edinburgh festival when both my partner and I were working 90 hours per week. I arranged to have a day off but of course they brought the bed the day earlier! I was told if I couldn't receive the bed that day (I was already at work at this point) that it would be taken back to the south of england and I would need to rearrange yet again. When i explained my situation to the hormones the phone she said it's a shame but not their problem! I managed to get off work early and arranged for them to come at 6.30. They of course arrived at 6.10 and gave me quite a bit of hassle for not being ready for them.
When we assembled the next bed it went together fine. However, two nights later the two supporting legs collapsed! I wouldn't mind this if we were jumping about or overweight but we simply climbed in to go to bed and are both a size 10!
I was promised a £30 voucher and new legs. It took three further emails (as I refused to speak to them over the phone as the can't seem to carry out a simple task and wanted proof of each promise) before I finally received legs but no voucher. The legs were too short with no parts to attach them to the bed. I took a further four emails, where I received standardised templates as responses, before I finally received more legs and the voucher. However, yet again the legs were too short with no parts!! Once again I complained twice before receiving a response. The response gave me the choice of either:
A. Going out and buying new legs myself
B. Them sending me yet another faulty bed
We have now been without a bed for four months! Argos quite simply couldn't care less.
Their customer service representatives are incompetent, the goods are second rate, the have zero compassion or caring and are THE WORST company I have EVER had the misfortune of dealing with!!!
I ordered something important for health for Saturday delivery - even paid extra for the delivery. The item did not arrive in promised time (hasn't arrived yet) - neither was there a message from Argos about the delay. It was something I needed urgently.
This is a company I can't trust. I've never had such issues with amazon deliveries.
And then I found something crazy on Argos site:
3.3 Risk of loss and damage of products passes to you on the date when the products are delivered or on the date of first attempted delivery by us.
Can you believe this? If they try a delivery and you're not at home, the risk of the item being broken passes to you! And you've not even received the item yet.
This is not a company to trust.
I have ordered a chest of drawers and I was waiting the delivery for more than a month. I was trying to call them, emailed them several times, and after that they call me back just to apologize for the delivery delayed and to say that they will give me my money back.
promised a delivery today 29 oct 12 but as per usual it never turned up always check when buying products from Argos i got a motorola Xoom in may it broke down when i called customer service i was told to take it back to Argos store although i bought it on line, but when i did they told me that motorola did not offer a repair service so they decided just to replace it hence it was to come today i called tonight but its not at there depot so they said it would be another 48 hours im so ------ off as i had made arrangements to be in all day
I ordered a sofa and footstool on 1/6 with a promised delivery within 8 weeks. Despite stock being allegedly available, and them taking over £1000 fom my account, I was told that my agreed delivery date would be delayed due to a lack of stock in the UK. Delivery was then made of the sofa only on 2/8 - 9 weeks. No advice as why the footstool wasn't delivered. A couple of phone calls to their useless Customer "Service" and I managed to sort delivery out for 4/9 - 13 weeks, but only because I chased it. Still waiting for a resolution to my customer complaint lodged on 29/8. Disgraceful. No wonder Home Retail Group is struggling. Don't bother
I placed an order for a book case that was showing in stock. The delivery slot was booked and my money taken.
After waiting in all day on the day of delivery I contacted Argos Customer (don't care) service to find out if anybody at Argos knew what was going on.
Two days later I am contacted by Argos telling me the item is out of stock (so much for live stock checker) and that it will no longer be available.
Just to rub salt in to my wounds I am informed by a multi billion pound company that I will have to wait up tp a further eight working days for my money back.
Nice one Argos, only gave one star as we are not allowed to give none.
I have had a lot of products from Argos, none of them are ever outstanding quality but you get what you pay for. However, we have had a terrible experience with them this year and we have vowed never to use them again. We purchased a wardrobe, along with another matching wardrobe, draw unit and bedside table, to prepare our house for the birth of our baby in January 2012. When we put the furniture together we noticed that one of the wardrobes was more difficult to put up than the other and that the doors did not hang correctly. My husband and my father have both tried to re-hang these doors but to no avail. Over the following months, the rail has collapsed several times, resulting in us having to drill new holes and completely re-hang the rail. We also hang nothing heavier than shirts on it as even so much as a pair of jeans causes it to collapse again. The shelves do not fit the width of the wardrobe space and continually fall from their pegs. The doors are quite obviously completely different heights and every time we have screwed the brackets in they come away from within days. To be honest, the wardrobe has been a complete nightmare.
Obviously with the upheaval of a new baby I have not had time to bring this matter to light until last month. We are now in the process of buying a new house but we have absolutely no intention of trying to move this wardrobe with us as it would frankly not survive the move.
I used the online complaint form and someone called me back almost straight away. To be fair, this agent was lovely and told me I could exchange the wardrobes from anything in the bedroom furniture section of the catalogue, including beds and childrens furniture. Every time I have spoken to them since then they have told me something different. I have just spoken to another lady who was frankly horrible to me and basically said she would only authorise an excahnge for another wardrobe, leaving us with mis matched furniture. I have just decided to send the lot to the tip and never ever deal with Argos again, I am frankly disgusted with them.
Just recently bought a kettle from this company, used it not even a whole week and it completely broke down. I didnt keep the receipt as it was workin fine after the first few times but as i had kept the packagin thought surely its not a problem. Went back into the store which by the way was way too busy without enough staff to help and was told, ice cold, thats not their problem, nothing they can do. I thought I'm not hearing right! What could I have done to a kettle thats a week old??? I do not recommend this company to anyone.
We asked for Argos vouchers as gifts for our wedding earlier this year. Once everything had settled after the wedding we decide to use these voucher to buy some new sofas.
We order them instore locally so we could be sure of the delivery lead time on the 2nd September 2012 and was told that we would receive our order on the 29th Semptember 2012 which we felt was fair. 2 days before the delivery we made sure all our old sofas had been removed. On the same day we received a phone call from Argos saying their supplier was out of stock and there was to be a further delay of 3 weeks 19th October 2012.
Being annoyed at this we complained about the delay and the fact that since we ordered Argos had reduced the price of both sofas that we had ordered. They did in their defence refund the difference to us via a cheque and agreed a delivery date of 19th October 2012.
Then today 18th October 2012 the day before they are due to deliver our order, Argos call us to say that there is a further delay of another 2 weeks. When I called them to ask them why they was unable to tell me why my order was delayed yet again, and thay they can not be held responsible for a delay with this supply.
I feel that this is solely unfair as the sales contract is between me and Argos not Argos's supplier. They also could not discuss the matter of a refund or compensation with me as the order was placed in the wifes name.
Sorry Argos this is the 2nd order you have messed me with I will never order anything from you ever again.
Wish I had read these reviews before I placed my order. Hope this will help others avoid same hassle. Ordered 4 cookers on a special price deal. Website showed stock and order was placed, credit card charged. Delivery terms we'll call you within 3 days and delivery within 5 days. No call after 3 days, checked website could still order item for 5 day delivery, so I called them. Sorry no stock can't tell you when we will have and someone will call you within 5 days - no joy beyond that. Eventually told delivery would be mid November - 6 weeks after ordering.
Next day item I had ordered was showing no stock on website, but noticed there was showing an identical item in another colour, colour not an issue with me so went into local branch to try and change to other colour as I could get no where with phoning. Branch rang where ever and were told definitely no delivery on original item until Nov. Branch then checked re other colour and identified would be 5 day delivery. Tried to persuade us to just go for other colour but I insisted they call up and check actual stock - again no stock will be mid Nov. Manager of store then persuaded us to change to another brand - Bush, these are owned by Argos so we are never out of stock. It was an inferior product, but you don't order 4 cookers because you want them them it is because you need them. So after being absolutely assured there was stock and we would receive them 5 days later we placed a new order. Should have had my call yesterday to confirm time slot, didn't happen so I called today and was told yes all in order delivery will be tomorrow 7-12.00 and will call you on route - great .... Then within 30 mins get a call sorry have no stock can't make delivery tomorrow ..... someone will call you within 5 days to discuss when we might be able to deliver. Insisted that wasn't good enough but of course no way forward so now waiting for a call. How can they think a call back within 5 days relating to an item that should have been with me within 5 days is acceptable???
Other customers might like to know I was told by a member of staff Argos operate like an airline they sell stock they don't have and so then have to bump people - great - how often do they expect us to be bumped before we bump them?
Ordered a dishwasher from them, picked one showing in stock, booked a delivery date with no delivery time, possibly up to 12pm according to the website, though i find it hard to believe they deliver anything so late, meaning I had to wait in all day. Unplugged my old one and left it standing in the middle of the room. Nobody turned up. Called the next day to be told it was out of stock, and they didn't know when it would be delivered. Nobody, of course, had thought to call and let me know about that. i asked for, and got, a refund on my delivery charge, as they had broken their contract, and was prepared to wait a week again till I could be in.
Apparently could not let me know by email despite ordering it online, but they would call me and let me know. Gave them a narrow window of a couple of hours each day when I'm contactable by phone, which they ignored, and called me back at work, which I had to ignore. I called them back to be told the next delivery day was over a month after my original order date, like it or lump it, and on a day when I couldn't be in anyway. i cancelled the order.
Do not order from them online, their system is deeply flawed.
Good basic printer
Bought printer & cartridge combo as store reservation. Good job i took my mobile to the store as the special price wasn't shown at the store. Had to go thru till to get reduced price. They seemed well used to the problem so make sure you have your reserved price confirmation. Good printer. Just takes a little too long to send 1st page to printer.
When asked by Argos to review the above product, my personal review was rejected as they said it was a customer service issue and so would not be shown on their site.
What's that all about?
I completed an online contact form with feedback regarding the offers they have running at the moment on 3 for 2 toys and £5 off £50 spend. Oh my goodness I did not expect a phone call from the 'customer service' department which amounted to what I can describe as abuse and ridicule by the 'customer service advisor'. The call ended , and I called back to be kept on hold to their customer service department with the message ' we value your custom'. Well all I can say is they clearly do not! I would like to point out that I have never until now felt compelled to complain about a service like this!
BLOODY AWFUL VERY U N HELPFUL STORE NEVER HAVE ANYTHING IN OF ANY SIZE OR POPULARITY .
THREE TIMES IN THE LAST TWO YEARS NEEDED A QUICK INSTANT BIRTHDAY PURCHASE WHAT A JOKE.
TOOK MY 100 QUID AND WENT TO B&M AND HOME BARGAINS EACH TIME
Ordered some garden furniture to be delivered . Had to wait 4 weeks for it to arrive ( so missed the sun) I had 2 no shows and then it finally turned up. The product is great shame about the delivery service . Would use Argos again !!!
Have ordered a bed and bed frame and dining room table from argos in the last few months. Both items were delayed significantly and they only ever let us know the day before delivery was planned. the bed was delayed by three weeks with an original delivery time of a week and the dining room table was delayed by two months! after an initial delivery time of 28 days. This is made far worse by the fact that they had my money for the 28 days before I cancelled the order. When I received the call to tell me the table would be delayed the man on the other end of the phone did not seem to understand why I was angry and just kept repeating "We've had to delay your order due to a lack of stock" Which I don't accept as they had had my money for 28 days, they could and should have ordered more stock!
Area : Blackburn
The staff were slightly unfriendly and i have sadly had to return 2 xbox's before the 29 days warrant ended due to faulty items . i can understand that it is not argos 's fault for the faulty xbox's however i just wish the staff were a bit more friendly in my area. two out of the three stores in the accrington/blackburn area are fab. however one of them is a let down.
Fix the staff issues and get better stock and this will become the old argos we used to love in this area.
Argos's customer services are appalling and I will never shop there again! 4 times I have experienced this dreadful service (once with a dyer, once with a corner sofa unit & twice with washing machines), I will not be tempted to to shop there again even if Argos were giving items away! They lie, are rude and unreliable. I have ordered a washing machine from my Grandma in her name and address but on my Argos account on-line and they had somehow received an order for me at my address and my Grandma at hers so when I got in touch with them to cancel one of the orders they had promised a refund into my grandma's account by the Wednesday and by the following Monday when we still hadn't got one my grandma phoned up to hear that the order hadn't even been cancelled and when I asked them to check there records because I had indeed cancelled they said that it had been cancelled but we should of gone in store for the refund but with no receipts as it was done on-line that would be imposable. They arranged for a refund to go into her bank account (again) and we checked the delivery address as they kept getting it wrong and it was still wrong. When the washing machine was delivered the fitter left the kitchen sink in a filthy state, good work men should always clear up after themselves. The refund still hasn't been paid and it has been 3 weeks since we called customer services to cancel the order!
I am writing to complain about the treatment I received during a visit to your central Brighton branch on Western road today.
My problem actually started last weekend when I came in store to purchase an ink cartridge for my Epson printer which I had also purchased from Argos a few months earlier. I asked the sales staff if it was the correct ink for my printer and she advised that it should fit all Epson printers but if not I could return it to the store and change it. But when I returned to the store today I was advised that because I had opened the cartridge I could no longer return it. I explained that I was never told this would be the case so the employee got the customer service manager Lucy to come and speak with me. After initially not believing me that I hadn’t been told I couldn’t open the product she then told me that the girl who had told me this was a new employee. I then explained that it was not my fault I had been given incorrect information and that I felt I should be able to get a refund but she said it wouldn’t be possible and gave me a complaints number I could call.
I called the complaints number and they agreed that if it was a new employee that had given me incorrect info then I would probably be entitled to a refund and that they would call the store then call me back. They called back after about 20 mins with a completely different attitude having spoken to the store service manager Lucy who had told them that I had said ‘I was originally told that I could go home to check the model no the return the cartridge as long as it was un-opened.’
This is a complete lie as I never said this or was told this I can only presume she said this to get out of the fact that she had told me the employee was new. I feel very upset that the manager has lied about me and was very rude to me in store. They never refunded my money and I am not even really bothered about the refund at this point any more I am just shocked about how rude is this employee and think argos should do something about it I run my own business I will never bear someone like her stay in my company to lose customers for me however argos - this company never responsed about it.

Argos changed delivery date on items, a bit inconvenient but we set up another date. I got a phone call on the morning of expected delivery to say that Argos wouldnt be delivering as there was a problem with one of the items. I had taken time off work with no pay, worse still as the items ordered were bedroom furniture and we had expected them that day, I had sold my old bed etc so we were left with no bed. 30 minutes on the phone on an 0845 number getting passed from piller to post, I ended up talking to a manager who was very sorry this had happened and promised to give us an air bed with a built in pump. When I travelled down to pick up this air bed it was a lillo type thing with a foot pump!!!. not what I had been promised and led to belive I was going to recieve. Argos - this is no way to treat your customers. We cancelled the order there and then. Argos didnt deserve to have the £799 that we were going to spend.
Never had a problem until now, had many deliveries from argos and all well until today and find out why, they sent my parcel via Yodel, had many problems with them when I used to shop with Amazon so new what would happen. called earlier and was told they would get local depot to call me, Now 7:30 pm and no call, just called them and delivery coming out tomorrow, but what about my days wages lost, do they think I am willing to loose another, NO CHANCE, will not be using argos any more. They try to save money by using cheap couriers rather than royal mail and this is what happens, well they have lost my trade now as I have had enough of being let down when companies they use Yodel to deliver, am better off using normal shops.
Avoid Argos!! I'm just about to get married. On 6th of august I ordered two wedding rings for me and my Fiancé in Slough branch in Observatory shopping Centre. I specifically stated I need this rings before 28th of august and wanted to make sure I will have it delivered to the store on time. The lady said not to worry as the delivery time is never longer than two weeks. I placed my order for two rings and on 13th august collected my Fiance's ring. My ring still didn't arrive, and when I went to the store few days ago to check upon it's status again, the lady told me she cannot help me as the ring wasn't dispatched by supplier and she didn't know when will it be delivered. When I Told her how important it is for me to have this ring, she says she cant guarantee the ring to be delivered on time, she looked in her system and she found same ring but.... one size smaller in other branch in Reading. I decided to buy this ring as I didn't want to end up with no ring at all. The serving lady in Reading I finally got me the ring, but when I looked at it - it was looking well worn with lots of scratches and some dents on it. I don't want and I CAN'T keep this ring and now I have to return it as well as I have to return the ring of my fiancé. Now I have my wedding date set on 01.09.2012 but have no rings! Argos just simply ruined this most important day by its negligence and unreliability!! In any way I cannot imagine what can be done to fix this situation! It is Just UNACCEPTABLE! I am extremely disappointed and by every occasion I am going to worn people, telling them my story about the situation that Argos put me into, just to save them from ending up with nothing because of Unreliable and extremely incompetent company - Argos!
Those days have long gone you end up paying full price
Also unable to view product
Ordered two scooters online and was given a delivery date. They didn't arrive after waiting in all day so I called to check and was told they were out for delivery and they had run out of time to make all the deliveries. They just arrived in a Yodel delivery van a day late. It's a good thing I was here to sign for them and could be at home. Not a great delivery service that Argos have outsourced to Yodel.
Having lost the receipt for a microwave we bought 6 months ago I called the customer service line to see if it was possible to still get it replaced as the interior paint had peeled off and was cracked. The customer service line said I should take it back to the store and as the goods were faulty they would replace the microwave. How wrong they could be! Not only did the 'Customer Service Manager' speak to me like a naughty school child but she didn't even bother to ask what the actual fault was with the microwave and then wouldn't give me her name as it 'wasn't her policy' or put in writing the store policy on returns because 'she doesn't put anything in writing.' It may have been my fault that we lost the receipt and it may very well be the store policy not to offer refunds without it BUT firstly the phoneline and the stores should not give out conflicting information and a Customer Service Manager should learn to deal with customer complaints in a friendly and understanding manner. No-one should ever feel as frustrated and angry as I did walking out of that store today. Unhelpful, unacceptable and unfriendly. I shall never be using Argos again.
This shop is an okay one. All the stuff is ridiculously over priced compared to other sites like amazon.co.uk. I only really use it if I need to get stuff quick and can't be bothered to search for a cheaper price. I have had a few times where i have reserved an item and got to shop to find that they are out of stock which is annoying.

i personally would avoid purchasing any product/item from argos. Especially if its too large for store pick up and requires home delivery. Their customer service and home delivery is a sham. Its utterly appalling, changing delivery dates, coming up with poor excuses, failing to deliver product - item due to having NO stock, yet letting the transaction proceed! Informing you months after the item has be discontinued and you will not get you product-item even though they said it will be delivered.
