That was my experience during half term at Taunton Asda. A young girl asked for my ID when I bought 6 bottles of lager. I showed her, she asked for the ID for my children. I told her Asda selling the lager to me not the children. She insisted if no ID of the children to prove they are over 18. Then I cannot buy any lager. I am 44, restaurant licensee. So I asked for her ID to complain her poor knowledge. She then covered her name tag and said she is not called Amy. She is Fran. I told her how can she check people's ID but she did not have her own. Disguisting experience. The manager came to sort out and said she had to back up her staff?? What is the system?
I moved from Tesco to ASDA in the last three years and so glad I did as I now do my weekly shop there and will never change from now on as my experience has always been perfect.
Great staff, very helpful, always clean and a great range of products.
Love the store

george clothing is usually of a good quality for the price you pay. they tend to keep up with the fasion.
Food is usually good and value for money can nearly always get what you went for
I will never buy from Asda Direct ever again. They differentiate between regular Asda & Asda Direct customers in that an Asda Direct customer has to either talk to people in South Africa or get their quill and paper out to write in to complain. No option to email, which considering they're an online company is nothing short of stupid.
My delivery was late & South Africa kept telling me the driver was around the corner. I wasted two hours waiting in only for the driver, who wasn't a courier I should add but an old boy in a car, to come the next day with no excuse or apology.
What I got was the product at a rock bottom price, the cheapest on the internet but with that came late delivery, being on hold 3 times for up to half an hour and lies - all to save £2 over the exceptional service Amazon offer.
Never again.
Oh and I've emailed Asda (not Asda Direct) about this FIVE TIMES about this only to be ignored. they just do not care about their customers.

store is good filled with lots of products at affordable prices, website is good but often crashs
OK, so ASDA used to be lame - I know.
However, about 3 months ago they opened a branch near me and I must say I'm warming to it.
The quality is getting better every time I go in there and the staff are brilliant (especially with my niece). The other big draw is that it is cheaper than anyway else. I went in Tesco the other day and was shocked at the prices (i used to use Tesco religiously - I went there every Sunday! - but they seem some way behind ASDA now.
Shop there probably twice a week. Always best value and best choice, and if not, will refund the difference. Many have tried to follow, but mostly failed.
Be wary of the 'special offers', 2for1 pricing isn't always what it seems. Check the individual price of a product, it may be cheaper to buy two separate products (eg individual price is .95p, 2for1 price is £2). You have been warned.
asda is THE supermarket to use. i love the friendly helpful service i recieve EVERYTIME im there. lovin it
I have been shopping a lot with Asda as i find it very good value for money. i love shopping here more than any where else...guess i am their most loyal customer
We started to use Asda as the prices seemed to be cheaper than Sainsburys. The first couple of deliveries were fine, but the driver would only leave the bags at the front door and wouldn't carry anything to the kitchen even when my wife was carrying our sleeping daughter. Then it all went wrong. Asda double charged for a delivery (taking a week to refund the money), then double booked a delivery (and charged for both), then delivered two identical deliveries. Again it took a week for a refund. In addition to this, they park the delivery van in the middle of the road blocking all other cars from moving. We have gone back to Sainsbury's. They drop to the kitchen and park the van somewhere out of the way, load the delivery onto a cart and are very professional. Plus they only ever charge us once. Never again Asda.
why is it that asda belongs to walmart who as we all know is a american comapny and the americans do like there coupons so can some one tell me why it is we dont have the same savings they get instead of a a fiver of a £40 shop when there geting items for free or if not both money given back to them im sure you will get more people in to your stores it give tesco a run for its money thats for sure
Ive had really bad experiences whilst ordering groceries online with Asda. I refuse to shop online with them now!

I HAVE USED ASDA SEVERAL TIMES TO SHOP. IT,S FAST AND EASY TO DO ONLINE. THE SITE REMEMBERS WHAT YOU HAVE BOUGHT IN THE PAST AND CAN SOMETIMES HELP AS A REMINDER OF WHAT YOU NEED ON YOUR NEXT SHOP.
I use both the groceries and have purchased games and clothes all on line. Superb service and love the Asda price !!!!
asda is cheap but there electricals have proved to be to cheap with me my daughter got an electric shock of a faulty travel hairdryer and even the woman at farnworth customer services said what do you expect its cheap. the grocerise are cheap but i have found they label some things for a pound when it was cheaper before and everywhere else. apart from minor gripes a great store just stay away from electricals haha
I have shopped with Asda online for many years, i keep getting emails from them saying i can have free delivery and also 5 pounds off my next order if i spend over 40, i ordered 96 and found no free delivery and no 5 off, i put the e-voucher number in and i got nothing off. I am now shopping at Morrisons or Tesco! I hate false advertising.
I love ASDA, their food, offers, clothes, electrical goods, furniture, etc., I think I've purchased from every Department, truly excellent, I would not shop anywhere else. We are a family of 6, plus lots of extras....
having shopped last week in Poole,Dorset...I came to do the price quarantee on line and it would not let me do so,kept coming up with an error message.I asked in store yesterday if this offer was a one off as I had done it the week before and was told no I should be able to enter my details but after 6 attempts I still cannot get on to this site with my details..
I use Asda for my main shop as well as Aldi, Tesco, Morrissons and Sainsbury, Asda is by far the best value out there, my only complaint is the home delivery staff blocking the way with their trolly's, don't have that problem with Tesco, or Sainsbury
with the cheaper guarantee, you are not missing out on savings from going to other stores, and they regularly have 'spend over £40 and get £5 off your next shop' when you next spend over £40. What I have a problem is the background music, which is modern and at times too loud. When I go shopping, I want relaxing music that doesn't make you feel like rushing in and rushing out. Haven't these people heard of research? I can guarantee that all the older folk don't appreciate screeching music blasting at them. When I asked the checkout lady why they played such crap, she agreed and said the head office dictated the music played, and also the temperature of the store! regardless of where that store was located it was based on where the head office was located and their weather that day! The floor staff need lessons in customer service and manners, like the customer should have right of way when they are walking around, not the staff with their huge trolleys. I have had my foot run over and almost been hit more than once, and then there is the reaching in front of me to stack the shelves, unbelievable! no manners and no customer service skills at all!
Enjoy doing the occasional big shop at asda as above the prices and selection are good.
Downsides for me are customer services and some own-brand products.
Oh my god. How hard is it to be Asda Direct? I bought the Miami 6 seater Garden Furniture set for £125.
Yes Yes thats cheap... but seriously.. you dont expect the tat that arrives. The glass table top was scratched everywhere, the metal frame warped. The pre-drilled holes in the legs (to attach to the table top) didnt exist. The fittings where there were pre-drilled holes snapped when used... oh and then theres the hole in the parasol.
Of course you think... Oh bad luck...one slipped through the net, theyll sort it out. Yeah right...3 days of phonecalls to South Africa call centres where all and sundry promise so and so will call you back, well that never happens. Ask to speak to a manager and my my they are busy bees....So many "important meetings".
Demand to speak to a Manager and the so "important meeting" will be interrupted.
I was cajoled into ordering from them by my partner who was being tight and liked the price...I should have stood firm. The whole debacle I had with them over a Microwave we bought that stopped heating after 5 months should have put me off.
That time I was left stuck indoors (with a toddler) 3 days in a row waiting for collection of said item (couriers just did not dane to show or call - contracted by Asda so I have to blame Asda for that too!)
SO all in all... bad show Asda Direct.... really awful show in fact!
I use asda every week to get my groceries delivered, with 3 young children supermarket shopping in near impossible. The ordering process is simple and fast; just pick items from a list or scan barcodes on your phone as I do and it's added to your trolley and delivered on a day that you pick, fantastic!
Great store but sell want they want rather than the customers' requirements!
Use them all the time for family, but they lose their loyalty in many ways. Will change to Morrisons if they build a store nearby!
Value for money store.
Problems are promptly sorted.
Plenty of choice for everyone.
Online delivery service works well.
