I frequently use auto europe car rental usually from Lamezia Terme airport in Italy the service is good generally with no undue delays on collection or drop off and the price is usually reasonable.
Booked a fiesta type car with Budget but ended up with Peugeot 107 again which is a smaller car,at the desk the Budget representative tried to imply that the no excess that was included in the auto europe booking might not pay out in order to sell their own.
Not Auto Europes fault but you might as well book a 107 if thats what is available.
Car hire in Italy can be a minefield of added charges and hiddden clauses. This time booking on-line through Auto-Europ was so easy. The car was ideal and the sevice was as good as it gets, I could not find a better deal anywhere else in Sardinia. I paid little more for three days car- hire than others at my hotel paid for one day!!
Booking online was straight forward & got a reasonable price. However on arriving at the 'Budget' desk in Dublin, the woman who dealt with us was rude, abrupt and in no way friendly for no reason! We had everything ready for her. Maybe she was having a bad day. Also we had booked a car seat and we were given a choice of 2. Both looked grubby & so we chose the better looking one which actually smelled! After being charged an additionally €46 for the car seat I expect it to be clean! My complaint is with 'budget' more than auto Europe but it was through Auto Europe we booked.
Arrived at Larnaca Airport to take a "Large Family Car - Skoda Octavia or similar". This was with Europcar. We were given a Kia Cee'd Hatchback which we were assured was the correct class. Nowhere near the size of Skoda Octavia, which was clear parking next to the ones from Sixt on the same row.
The key remote did not work. Europcar advised they had no larger cars, and no batteries for keys. We had luckily only brought one full sized suitcase for the four of us, plus two baby seats - or we would have not been able to leave the airport.
The car itself was fine, for a smaller vehicle. Europcar said that terms were 'take full return empty' that I had specifically avoided due to short rental, they conceded that this was not what I had booked - this is a scam. I did get my agreed terms. Buyer beware?!
Having looked up public transport to get me from Linz to Trieben last weekend, I quickly decided it would be easier to go by car - but I also didn't realise it would be cheaper!
Very helpful man at the desk, v quick. The only negative was that I couldn't have GPS as I hadn't pre-ordered it. But all in all, very helpful. I would definitely recommend.
I reviewed the cars for a short trip in Italy and all looked good. I then called (and got someone in the US) as I wanted to speak to someone about boot/trunk size as we needed to put a wheelchair in the back of the car. The guy was helpful although didn't want the sizes of the wheelchair that I had. All fine with Herz at the airport, although they did say that buying through a 3rd party meant that if there was an accident or anything I would have to pay and then claim it back off Auto Europe (which may not have been so good)
Presented with a Nissan Micra by Avis in Dublin Airport, after purchasing an Economy car with auto-Europe. The voucher said I should expect a Ford Escort or similar. No way is a Nissan Micra in the same class as Ford Escort. Our flight into Dublin was delayed, it was 1230am and we were tired and just wanted to get on the road with no hassle. Called Auto-Europe who were absolutely no help. Eventually ended up negotiating an upgrade for 10€ extra per day. Felt mis led by Auto-europe as I never would have booked such a small car, and equally felt let down by Auto-Europe who refused to offer any help.
arrived at palma airport at 2230 in the evening and found Europe car office
in a few minutes from collecting luggage
they are based in the major car park with all the large rental companies
after the efficient lady dealing with paperwork and spoke perfect English
we found the car was almost new and well equipped but I am afraid under powered for dealing with majorcas
mountainous environment ..struggling in low gears to climb the long hilly roads and almost embarrassing ....
returning the car was a fast service and although we had plenty of time could prove valuable for those in a rush
I will use the service again but ensure I have a diesel engine
with the extra torque
Will use again absolutely no problems car was there on time perfect delivery!
we arrived on the wrong day,, but the lady let us keep the car for an extra day. how helpful is that. and they collected the car for us for no extra cost. very good !!!!
I have rent a car with Auto Europe, the price was fine and the car even better than my expectations (they didn't have the car I have asked and they gave my a better one... as usual in these cases). There was a long cue and the partner wasn't so well organized probably because of a pick hour. The car itself was pretty new and well performed, it did its job.
Will hesitate to take a small Buchbinder car again via yourselves as the vehicle was fully logo'd up with Buchbinder Advertising, stating rental at €29 /day - the writing was as big as the car itself. Everywhere we drove, people stopped and stared at us !
Otherwise the service and vehicle were fine
Good price, very convenient and included all insurance. Would use again.
Collected the car from local agent in South Africa (hertz) firstly the child seats that were provided were not safe at all would have been better off not using them.
We had a few issues with the car which I emailed auto Europe and there reply was that they apologise for the inconvenience, overall I have been very disappointed with the service provided.
I do not have a credit card and do not want a credit card if you are the same don't waste your money on booking a car here, as when you get to your destination you cannot have your booked car and are left with the headache of sorting something else out.
Not recommened
Hertz provided me with an excellent Ford Fiesta for a week at Catania. Only one snag - the broken R side door mirror, though listed on the car hire document, was initially going to be charged to me on my return. I protested that I was not going to pay for damage not caused by me etc etc, and the rep then realised that the document was not as clearly written up as it should have been. She apologised, as did I for raising my voice, but it seemed necessary at the time.
It is the hirer's responsibility to make sure that any faults/damage/scratches are CLEARLY noted, so that embarrassment is avoided.
Annoying that you see the full rates that you will be charged on the day. Frustrating that I had to wait 48 to get confirmation of car and car booked wasn't what I'd asked for. Yes I got an upgrade but I didn't want one - I wanted a mini economy.
Delivered - if you excuse the pun. Efficient with no dramas. Value and effective.
Auto Europe UK was a fast and simple provider of cheap car hire for us!
Normally we just chose a rental company based at whatever airport we are going to - but in this case we went through Auto Europe to find who would be best.
Quick online booking and confirmation.
+ The booking was easy and smooth.
- I was sure that the additional insurance was reducing liability for potential damages on the car, but it was not. I had to pay an additional insurance on spot that costed me £90 for three days - 200% of the rental price!
- Did not get any information about that I needed to bring a credit card with £850 when picking up my car or alternatively pay for the full insurance (£90).
Hired a car for florida, the car was supplied by budget.
I had read some bad reviews of budget, after I had booked, but they were fine, queue's no longer than the other hire company's
Didn't have to pay any extras, all the insurance you need is included.
I would rent the standard car in the range you want,we were upgraded for free, they didn't seem interested as long as its the same range of car,our friends were with Alamo ,they were just told a row,and to choose any car they wanted. Also don't pay for fuel at the desk.they will charge you $80,we filled our car(a camero)for $50
We usually book with Hertz at Ancona Airport in Italy as they know us well, but on the last occasion we forgot to book and when we tried the day before we flew they had no cars left. I went through autoeurope and was given a deal with Europcar which actually worked out cheaper. When we got to Ancona, the queue for Hertz was massive, two flights having arrived, whereas we were second in line with Europcar. They picked up very quickly that we knew the procedure and within a few minutes we were out and driving off in a new, but basic Panda. I will definitely be checking the site when we book again, although I have just looked up a car hire from Parma to Ancona in September and they couldn't do it, so it is back to Hertz for that trip!
No problems with Auto Europe, all as expected until we had a look around the rental returns carpark and it was obvious we had the oldest and tattiest vehicle in the park. Was that just coincidence or Europacar policy with Auto Europe bookings?
The car wasn't what I ordered they gave me a KIA 1600cc instead how ever I wasn't disappointed it gave great miles per gallon and a very comfortable drive. The handover changeover went very smooth I recommend and I would personally use this company again
Booked on line easily no problems all as planned
They came up with the best price but as the hire was in the very litigious USA, I decided to double check. I rang their freephone number and a gent in the US was very helpful and he was absolutely right, car hire went like a dream. Will definitely use again!
The quality of the car provided was extremely poor with numerous scratches, peeling paintwork, dirty interior upholstery, broken controls and a most annoying squeal on the brakes. I was also required to pay €82 for a tank of fuel which would have cost me less than €63 had I had the option of returning the car with the tank full.
Never again.
When I check other sources of car hire I never fin anything much cheaper and often Auto Europe is significantly cheaper. The customer service phone support has been available and helpful on the few occasions I've used it. It's been the first place I look for car hire for the last several years (I'd guess about 7 years actually)
I checked a number of comparison sites and auto-europe provided the best deal. No issues at all will the process even with different pick up and drop off sites . I'll be using them again in the future.
Easy and fast to book and offered good price. Only negative was that I didn't realise the excess waiver Auto Europe offered was independent of the car rental company and so had to go through their credit card process at the desk as well. No extra money was paid just a bit of faffing that's all.
We booked our rental car for a 12 day stay in South Africa through Auto Europe in the UK. The transaction was simple and without any problems. We collected our car from Herts in Port Elizabeth as arranged and again all expectations were met. All in all, a pleasant, no nonsense experience. Thank You Auto Europe.
picked up car in myrtle beach, really pleased with quality of the ford fusion. Got good gas mileage and was fast and comfortable. Very good service at budget desk.
I rented a car in Cyprus. The headline rental was about £65. I ended up with a bill of £200 by the time I had to pay a one way fee, airport collection tax, airport pick up charge and a full tank of gas ( not good because you can't challenge the cost of fuel and can't gauge how much fuel you need). I am all for this review on transparency on costs.
Our hire was a small Skoda from Eurocar at Geneva Airport. Check in all very easy and the car was in A1 condition. Good value (Switzerland is in any case more expensive for everything!) and great performance from this small car. Easy check out. The only challenge was finding the car park on return to Geneva airport, although Eurocar did give very helpful photos of the approach road, which helped.
had a long layover in orlando, so book car hire for 9 hrs, after checking all other company's about what's inc and what's not inc, booked car hire with auto-europe in uk, and got a car from alamo, orlando international airport, arrived at desk 30 mins early, no queue's, and lady was only to happy for me to check car out now, less than 5 mins going through all paper work and i was on way to picking car up, had pick of car's when picking car up, taking car back no problem, no rushing you out of way, but the main thing was nothing more to pay, like i've been caught before,
Auto Europe is a good service which allows for price comparisons across all the main cat rental companies.
It gives clear and concise information so you can rest assured that what you expect is what you get.
My only major gripe is that the prices shown do not include the cost of insurance which cancan vary from one hire company to another. If this information could be provided on the quote given it would remove lots of nasty surprises for customers once they reach the car rental desk.
A better display of deposits and excesses required would also be very beneficial
I spent hours searching for a reasonably priced hire car in California. I tried all the major providers (Hertz, Avis, Alamo etc.) and found it really difficult as they all had different conditions. One actually changed in price a day later. When I came across Auto Europe, I thought it wouldn't cover America. I was wrong. They provided the best quote using Alamo, even beating the Alamo's own quote. I was so sure I had miss-understood, I phoned Auto Europe to check. The icing on the cake came when Alamo gave me a complimentary upgrade. Top price, top service. Give them a try.
When we arrived in Pafos on the 24th April after an excellent flight with Jet2, we then went to the Europe Car kiosk to pick up our car. My husband was in a very happy mood which pleased me a lot as he had been ill with a serious problem during the winter. We both noticed immediately how rude the Greek woman was and this perplexed us as she had been given no provocation whatsoever by either of us. When my husband politely queried the type or car we had been offered (a Nissan Note, we had asked for a Ford Focus) she snapped "Or equivalent"! As she was technically correct with her statement, we did not argue, as we were both wanting to get to our hotel to start our holiday. When we found the car at the Eurocar park area we were aghast! It was covered in marks and had paint peeling from the front area, most definitely one of the most awful examples of a hire car from a reputable firm that either of us had ever seen! There was a young couple with a baby picking up a Note next to the one we had been allocated and there's was just as bad condition as ours. My husband asked the chap what he though and the men showed us the car diagram (that one put's down proof of damge by previous users on) he had ru out of room to put any more circles around the marks! My husband became very cross and said he would find the assistant and complain. I was worried my husband would become ill with anger and tried to calm him down. He did find this man and after firmly pointing out the problem he was issued with another car (a Ford Fiesta) which was at least largely unmarked. All this complaining left us both feeling angry and disallusioned with both Auto-Europe and Europecar, to the extent that we will be loath to use either company again. There are other competitors in Pafos who have both better cars and nicer people to deal with. we felt shattered after this ordeal, plus it added a quite a lot of extra time on to the experience.
