I came across AE offer during the planning of my business trip to Hungary. It was significantly cheaper than any alternative, so I was really suspicious about it and expected some extra charges at the counter in Budapest. Anyway, I decided to book everything on-line.
There were no hidden charges and I have got the vehicle as booked. What's more - it was almost completely new one (just about 1k miles at the odometer).
I am travelling in business quite often (up to 20 times a year) and I usually rent a car - it was probably the best deal I have ever had.
Extremely frustrating experience, no information regarding where to collect car at Palermo Airport, and in less information where to drop car off at Catania Airport.
Why you can't you provide this information when car booked?
The car came from Budjet car rental Dublin Airport Terminal 2 ..Problem with the first car they gave me , It had only a emergency key that did not open the boot or near side door as well as having scratches on the door not marked on the sheet, They gave me another car , a Reno Cleo,which was all right.These problems were from Budjet not any thing to with Auto Europe. Everthing via Auto Europe went without a hitch.. I wanted to hire a car in Ireland in July and found Auto Europe were More EXpensive than going direct to the hire coumpanies.
I travel extensively and always shop around. Auto Europe ALWAYS has the best deal. My only gripe, and its a big one, is that despite the fact that I have given all my info during the booking process (address, phone, credit card etc.) I always have to wait at the car rental company whilst they enter it all in again. Its so frustrating, often taking 15 minutes or more. Fix that problem and AutoEurope will score 100% every time!
Bookng was easy and straightforward.
Quick service at Geneva and courtesy bus to car. All n 10 minutes.
Car was superb, an almost new VW Polo, just 1500km on clock. Sat Nav was an added surprise.

Hertz easy pickup and drop off although we had to book by phone as unable to complete booking online. Unfortunately the car did smell of cigarettes, otherwise ok. It would have been helpful and a nice gesture to have had a complimentary map of the area available as in the past.

Was very confusing as to who was responsible for the incorrect booking. AutoEurope chased it down and sorted it in the end. I think it was their error in the first place

With some trepidation , having heard stories about Sicilian organisation and driving , this elderly gentleman contacted AE re a car hire in Sicily . As well as a very fair price , we were given re-assurance and a lot of helpful advice from the AE contact . Everything was exactly as promised when we reached Sicily - the firm had a Clio ready for us , documentation was handled quickly and efficiently , and we were on our way with a minimum of fuss and stress. Same when we retrurned the car . We shall definitely use AE when next we require a car abroad . Many thanks .
I have just returned from a holiday in South Africa, During my trip there I hired a car with you three times on diffrent trips i took, 21st March in Cape Town, 26th March Durban, 30th March Cape Town.
When i went to pick up the car i was asked to leave a deposit only payable with a credit card, I only have a debit card so my son who lives in C/T used his card in order for me to get the car, My son did say to me whats going to happen when I get to Durban with the same problem, I thought it would be ok as i would give them cash, well that was not to be, when i got to Durban they would not accept cash so I did not get a car, I then had to hire a taxi to take me 90km which cost me £70.
I was not the only customer that had the problem, there was another couple there who could not get the car that they had hired.
You need to make sure that you inform all of your customers that they need to have a credit card when travel to SA or they will not be able to get the car that they have payed you to hire for them.
I would like to know what you intend to do regarding the refund of the payment I made to you for the car I did not get, I am waiting to hear from you before i take this any further.
I have been using Auto E for some years but find that Herz South Africa put on extra charges which are neither valid nor justified. I have a contention with charges on my most recent trip to Cape Town. I have sent an email to Auto Europe concerning this but have not had a reply to date.
Make sure you have a credit card! Because even if your partner does, they can't help you and will not offer you any sort of refund. So I lost 100 pounds because I only had a debit card. I didn't actually realise it would make a difference as I was able to offer even a cash deposit.
I spent a lot of time on my Hidatsa driving. The fact that I used auto Europe made life much easier. Their laid back but helpful approach took a lot of the strain out of my 3 week trip to South Africa. Impressed by the whe service. And the car was excellent.
If you want to rent from Europe a convertible car like a Mustang in the US with Alamo, be aware that it will never happen unless you pay $300 more once you arrive, otherwise, you will have a Chrysler 200 !
GOT TO DESK RATHER LARGE QUE THEN WAITED ANOTHER 25 MINUITES TO GET SERVED THEN DID NOT REALISE WHEN I GOT TO DESK I HAD TO PAY FOR A FULL TANK OF PETROL WHEN ALL I WAS USEING IT FOR WAS TO GET TO RESORT AND BACK THEN A DELIVERY CHARGE OF 17 EURO FOR DELIVERY THAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND AS I WAS PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF AT AIRPORT.
THEN WE GOT A CAR AND THE CLUTCH WAS SLIPPING SO HAD TO CHANGE THE CAR ON THE THIRD DAY.
AND ON TOP OF THIS WAS INSURANCE SO IN TOTAL BEFORE I LEFT AIRPORT IT COST ME ANOTHER 159 EURO SO I WAS NOT BEST PLEASED FAIR TO SAY I WILL NOT BE USEING THE COMPANY AGAIN COS THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD USE A FULL TANK OF PETROL SO I WAS OUT OF POCKET IN ALL.
WHEN I TALKED TO PEOPLE IN THE RESORT WHO HAD BOOKED CARS WITH OTHER COMPANY THEY HAD GOT BETTER DEALS AND LOT LOWER PRICE .
A GENTLEMAN AT SIDE OF ME BEING SERVED SAID THE SAME HE DID NOT NEED A FULL TANK AND THEY LET HIM HAVE HALF TANK WHEN I ASK THEY SAID IT WAS COMPANY POLICY TO PUT IN FULL TANK...
I was very happy with hiring my holiday car from auto Europe. The people I dealt with were quick and efficient especially after a long flight. My only objection was having to pay extra because of the exchange rate. I have used auto Europe before and I know I have to leave my credit card details but this was the first time there was a charge right away normally they just hold your credit card details as a security.
In good faith you think you have completed a booking for a few days car hire at a certain price, you turn up at the airport only to find you have to pay for more insurance that doubles the cost of having the car...
It's nothing short of a scam, I even flew Ryanair and they have been forced into displaying the 'price you see'....
Outraged, disappointed and very angry...

I was slightly suprised at the lack of boot space (my underestimate of what a family of 5 meeded)

We've found Auto Europe very efficient and have used them many times over the last few years..they've been able to provide us with good cars, sometimes at short notice, and have always been friendly and helpful.
This is the second time I've rented a car using Auto Europe but the first for a car in USA. I cannot complain about anything relating to the transactiion and booking experience. We arrived in Orlando ready with all our paperwork sent to us via email by Auto Europe. The car rental was with Alamo. They were expecting us and had a car ready.
All correspondence from Auto Europe was clear and accurate.
I'm so happy with this experience (and my previous experience) that I'll recommend Auto Europe to anyone. And I've just used them again to book my car hire in South Africa for later this year.
When I got to the Budget counter they told me the car they had for me was a Mazda 3 which they claimed was in the same category as the Dodge Avenger we were expecting, but is clearly not as big. We had to upgrade to get passengers and luggage in and the only car available seemed to be an SUV at considerable extra cost.
