Just to say that both the office staff and the techinicans that came out to do the replacement, were both very polite and helpful and I was offered an appointment on the same day of reporting the damage, although unfortunately after inspection the windscreen had to be replaced, rather than repaired, but nevertheless the windscreen was replaced within 48 hours of the damage occuring - that's pretty good going!
My husband backed into my car and shattered the rear screen on a Friday evening and we were going away for the weekend. we were told by our insurers that they could not arrange an appointment until Monday morning. it was agreed that we would be contacted by mobile between 8 +10 am.
On saturday afternoon our neighbour rang to say that the repariers had arrived and needed an immediate payment of £75. Our neighbour very kindly agreed to pay this and we paid him back.
the work was fine we never met the technician but could have all beeen handled better
Using Autoglass takes all the hassle out of repairing or replacing a windscreen. I have used them a number of times now and each time their ability to agree the repair directly with the insurance company, carry it out under cover and at a time that suits me has simplified the whole process. On top of that their attention to detail in moving all my windscreen stickers to the same positions on the new screen is very much appreciated. You drive in with a damaged screen, return later and drive out with a lovely clean new one, the insurance all taken care of, and you're left wondering "was it really that simple?". The answer is "Yes".
On my way home I was traveling behind a lorry when out of no where a stone fired up and hit the window and chipped it in a number of places. I didn't notice the main one until the following day, just behinde the rear view mirror. That night I downloaded the app on my tablet and filled out the details, within a hour or so i got a phone call from Autoglass to arrange a time and a place for the work to be done. All very easy to set up and straight forward they even delt with my car insurance company. After the job was done you can barley see the damage only I know it's there and does not stand out. A very happy customer.
We had a chip repair done at home in London and couldn't have asked for a better service and treatment. A special thank you to Wesley who explained everything in detail, including risks, and his patience. I cannot praise him enough! Very happy customer!
To actually make a booking, the Autoglass website offered an appointment three days later. Seeing as though I needed the windscreen repaired sooner I thought I'd give the phone line a go. What a joke! The earliest they could offer was 8 days later, 'due to the floods'. This was in April 2014 for goodness sake, in Hertfordshire (we had no floods!!!)
I was also informed that the website was misleading as the slot shown is only a 'request' slot and in reality was always wrong and therefore the customer service team would always reschedule the appointment.
So, 8 days later the engineer arrived within one hour towards the end of the agreed 6 hour time slot (1pm to 6pm.) He explainded what work needed to be done and was very efficient and 45 minutes later the job was done.
I was invited to check the work, it looked good and so I signed it off. My mistake, I should have looked closely at the seal inside and out.
Later that evening, when I sat in the drivers seat, I noticed a bulge of sealent at eye level on the driver's side pillar. So I looked a little further and then noticed the sealant had splurged out between the interior pillar trim and windscreen. It looks cr@p. It actually looked like a job I had once done when resealling with sillicone sealer around my bath!
Then, adjusting the drivers mirror for my position, I couldn't! The camera and rain sensor surround wasn't flush with the windscreen (as it were befor ehte replacement) and so the mirror couldn't be angled correctly. D'Oh!
I rang Autoglass after I had finished a long shift at work because I was having my car MOTed the next day and I was worried it would fail due to the chip on my windscreen. It was not in the drivers visual area which I explained and only the size of a five pence piece. I didn't need to hear that I would need a full windscreen replacement and that I wouldn't be able to drive my car home from the garage when it failed the MOT or that I should know my garage's postcode. It was all full of doom and gloom, totally unprofessional and then I was offered an appointment on Sunday when my MOT was Friday. I wanted to put the phone down as I didn't need to feel harassed I did ask if there was any quicker way forward because I would have taken a cancellation at short notice as I understand that this happens. I was disappointed to find that I would be charged £10 for the repair when your current radio advert says it is free for comprehensive policy holders. The insurance company uses you to provide a service for their policy holders and that certainly was not what I felt I received during my phone call.
Fortunately the service provided by the engineer was really great , earlier than scheduled but he phoned and asked if I would be home. He was helpful, explained that I would still have a cloudy spot on my windscreen as it had gone milky but as it was out of visual area we agreed it didn't matter. My car had passed its MOT on Friday so the 'chat' by your call handler was really not necessary.
I had previously called out Autoglass (via my insurance company) to repair my windscreen back in November 13, the fitter did a first rate job in repairing the chipped glass, however, my windscreen got hit again by another stone and this time a large crack was the result. I phoned Autoglass direct this time as they already had my insurance details, the lady who I spoke with was very helpful and very professional in her approach, we went through the details of the problem and mutually agreed a time and date for the repair to be done. On the day of the repair the Autoglass Technician phoned me to let me know he was on his way and would arrive within 10 to 15 minutes, true to his work about 12 minutes later he came down my drive, he was very polite and professional, I asked if he minded if I watched as I was curious as to how a windscreen was replaced. I made him a hot drink which he had while continuing to work and he explained each stage step by step, All in all a great service from start to finish, a big WELL DONE
i tried to get direct line to let me use any other company than Autoglass. They said I could but I would need tp pay for it. Direct line and Autoglass operate an illegal cartel forcing customers to use Autoglass. Their website should be charged with fraudulent misrepresentation, you can book an appointment online but they phone you to cancel.
the man that came to fix it explained that while fixing it the window might crack anyway and then I would have to pay £50 excess to have it replaced it doesn't tell you this in the adverts. He managed to fix it without it cracking by the time he left but by the following day the crack was worse then before which will result in me having to pay for new window. On advert it says use auto glass to repair crack and avoid having to replace window by using auto glass I now need to replace window ridiculous, annoying and costly not happy and wouldn't bother again.
got a chip on my windscreen when on the motorway. contacted my insurance people who put me through to autoglass. arranged to come and fix it within 2 hours at my home address!! brilliant, hassle free service! friendly staff and most of all...quality finish on my windscreen! thank you xx
Dear friend, DONT use autoglass for any type of glass repair. I had no choice because my insurance company force me too. Six weeks for an appointment and being over charged on my excess I finally go the job done. They will no longer be trading soon so if you have a problem with their work, you wont be able to get the fault fixed.
I would definitely recommend Autoglass to everyone who needs help quickly and who is professional. Autoglass were very thorough in explaining what they were going to do and did exactly as they said. Very happy, thank you
My car windscreen was badly damaged, with cracks across the whole screen. Not sure if it was because we are in Wales, but given an appointment a wrk later. my husband so grassed off that he put his complaint on Twitter and Facebook and it was only then that it was brought forward by 3 days. even so I was driving around for several days peering through cracks.
I was very pleased with the service Autoglass gave me. I booked online and within 20 minutes they called me to get all my details and confirm the date I had booked. The man that came out was very polite and explained everything to me about what he was going to do. It took about 30 mins ands I was able to drive the same day. I would highly recommend Autoglass to anyone and will use them again (if needed).
Had a small chip in Windscreen. I contacted my Insurance Company and informed to contact AutoGlass. Also, there would be a small charge of £10 for the repair.
I contacted AutoGlass via web site and made the payment. I thought the chip could be repaired as AutoGlass Advertise, but when a Technician arrived he said it was in the wrong place and wrong size to fill. So he ordered a full windscreen replacement.
After a couple of days a new appointment was made and a new Technician arrived as arranged. Unfortunately, the WRONG WINDSCREEN had been ordered.
The Technician ordered a new one and said I would be contacted. NO ONE contacted me, so after a couple of days I tried to contact AutoGlass. First, their national phone line and then by email. I did receive a response via email saying someone would contact me, but after a few days I again HAD TO CONTACT THEM.
Eventually I was contacted and arrangements made for the fitting of the Correct Windscreen. The Technician arrived as arranged and I was pleased with the outcome. Windscreen fitted quickly and without any mess. A receipt was printed at completion.
Overall, fairly good service just a shame the Chip could not be repaired as per AutoGlass Advertisements lead you to believe.
Recommended Improvements: AutoGlass should Cross Check the Vehicle's correct Windscreen requirements as Standard Procedure and keep the customer informed of progress throughout.....May be AutoGlass usually do the above, but my experience fell short of what should have been expected.
The online booking service is simple. Someone called me from their central call centre to ask a few questions about the chip to determine whether it could be fixed or if I needed a replacement windscreen. Once I was booked in for a replacement, a friendly lady from my local branch called me to book in a time and confirm availability of my windscreen. I arrived at the agreed time, my keys were taken and I returned after 2 hours to a newly fitted windscreen. Every part of the process is efficient and made me feel confident that they know what they're doing. Also, Autoglass deal with the insurance company direct so I didn't have to. Excellent all round and I will use again - hopefully not too soon though!
The work was carried out at home, the fitter was ok,, but not too chatty, the work was done quickly and looked really good when finished. But I have noticed the panel on the drivers side near the windscreen was not put back quite the same as the other side, I have a bit of a problem with OCD, so it is now really bothering me, will maybe contact to sort it out,
