I advertised my moped for a mere 1,800 pounds on AT (as new) for 30 quid and received a grand total of around 6 mails in response, four of which were scam emails. I pasted AT respondee names and text into Google and it quickly became apparent that these were established scam email names and scam wordings which have been going on for some time now (for some years in some cases). I forwarded said emails to AT as suggested (no response) and am extremely disappointed to learn that AT have no system of screening in place that picks up such obvious scams emails (obvious to me at least) which run the risk of losing many susceptible customers money. Fortunately - as an ex banker - I can spot a scam but I suspect many AT customers cannot and I do feel that AT should be doing something (anything!) to prevent such scam emails being received by their customers (such as myself) who paid them a healthy 30 pds to receive such lax service which exposes them to genuine risk of loss.
I had felt the need to complain to the company via email, with regards the placement of my advert in the magazine.
Did not have the courtesy to respond to my complaint. It was a waste of money approx £50 for 3 weeks web - 2 weeks magazine, car was for sale below book value, not one call. I also placed it on other free car websites and got calls email and calls from them, so look around at alternatives people!

Don't fail to check Autotrader before buying you next used car or you'll be sure to see a better car at a lower price and you know how annoying that is.....
I have used the Autotrader website to advertise and sell my last 3 cars. Every one was a Success. Great Website
Easily the quickest way to sell your car at a good price. Expensive but worth it.
I don't know where to start. Unbeleiveably slow site to do a search. Everytime you make a change, you then have to click the search button for it to show searches! The frustration with the sie is a real put off & I'm sure I am not the only one who feels this. I have sold a couple of cars and bought one private but always dread the slow speed of the site, waiting for it to acknowledge my options and then having to re click to show them. Adverts in the middle of my searches is awful as is the amount of brand new cars for £99 which then add laods more in to my results! The layout is great but everything behind that is poor and the site is being run poorly!

Autotrader are by far the most useless, incompetent bunch of idiots I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Customer service is appalling, prices are astronomical. I was incorrectly billed several times, which took them months to put right. I would never EVER deal with them again!!!

Paid £44 for a 3 weeks listing and 1 week magazine, my car was the cheapest on there with the same spec by miles and not one single call!! :S but few scam emails. then I get a cheeky call from them to relist the item and pay more money!!. Never again! eBay all the way )

I have sold a several cars and motorbikes on Autotrader and find the site easy to use and very quick at putting your advert online.
It's also the best site to look at if you want to get an idea of the right selling price for your vehicle - there are so many vehicles advertised that it's easy to work out roughly how much it should sell for.
I've never had a problem with Autotrader and am currently selling my van on the site. Just gotta watch out for the scam callers such as [link]- called me this morning. Avoid them like the plague!
we went to purchase a car turned up to the dealer to be told car was in good condision just in case we took a macanic with us just as well this man was a crook tried to say that car was good but we lifted the bonnet to find that the head gasket had gone man told us it was condersation we told him we had a macanic with us he just walked away thats ok but some one is going to purchase this car and he new it was foulty it cost us £45.00 in petrol and macanic fees its a toltal discrace how thay can get a way with it ??
I used this site to try and sell my car I paid my fee of £29 for 2 weeks internet advertising and all I got was fraudsters trying to take not only my car but also my money. In the two weeks I had 9 fraudulent atempts and 1 stolen cheque. When I wrote an e-mail to them to express my concern I got a snotty reply saying that it was my fault because I allowed people to contact me via e-mail. Then two days after my advert expired I had a phone call offering me 3 weeks advertisement for £30. Hence to say I told them where to stick it.
