I was very pleased with the customer service . I ordered on line and received the standard acknowledgment . I waited a couple of days and then contacted to ask when I could expect delivery . I had thought I would have been contacted to arrange delivery , but when I contacted customer service the staff were very helpful and delivery was sorted out straight away
Easy to use web site and excellent information to help you make the right choice. Once ordered kept informed of delivery all confirmed by e-mail and telephone and even the drivers contacted us on the delivery day to confirm the time of delivery, they delivered the furniture exactly where we wanted it and made sure we were happy. and we ARE
Stumbled across B&S online and liked the range, realized they just opened a London store which we visited and was good. We placed an order for several items of furniture, but with hindsight .. having paid up-front .. 14 weeks is too long to wait for delivery. No idea when we'll actually get the stuff.
Placed order for 2 items but only after I chased for a delivery about a week later was I told that item was out of stock for 10 weeks which I was then blamed for not reading the order carefully enough. Asked what my options were and if I could have a refund on the item. No reply for 6 days then an email saying my order was cancelled and I'd get a refund in 3-7 days, a lot longer than it took to take the money in the first place. No comment from them about the second item so I assume they have just cancelled this too. Jokers
Went into Newcastle store to buy dining chairs but was told the ones I wanted were end of line so I couldn't buy them even though there were four of them sitting in the showroom?! Do purchased them online instead without any problems. Thought I would give the store a second chance so went back to look at sofas but found staff uninterested so guess I will buy online again or go somewhere where my custom is more welcome!
Looking for a dressing table for my daughters's bedroom, I found the perfect table, mirror and stool at Barker and Stonehouse. Not having a store near me in Norfolk, I had to trust the online description and I was not disappointed. Sturdy, well made furniture, fully assembled and placed in the room by the delivery men- I am so pleased with every item and so is my daughter.
This was a disaster from start to finish! Firstly the delivery date I was given twice was incorrect I took two days holiday for nothing. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very abrupt and rude. Not helpful at all. When the clock arrived it was faulty so had to send it back and wait in again fot replacement! When replacement came that has a dent in metal at top and side! I give up sending it back again. The clock was £100 so not cheap and its been nothing but a nightmare. Will not be recommending to anyone anytime soon. Jayne foster.
The website stated 2 weeks delivery time so I placed the order. Phoned up afterwards to confirm delivery only to be told it will be a minimum of 4 weeks. When explained about the clearly stated 2 weeks delivery on the website, the lady over the phone explained there is nothing she can do and that I should be contacting the delivery company they hire (!) for future order updates. So basically, Barker and Stonehouse took my order and then bluntly referred me to deal with the delivery company myself when trying to confirm the order arrival date as they cannot be bothered. The delivery company when contacted explained they can only deliver in 4 weeks and not earlier as they never deliver sooner. In the end the order arrived in just over 4 weeks later, so over two weeks delay. I would not recommend this company and will not use Barker and Stonehouse ever again. Here is my advice for Barker and Stonehouse:
1. Do not promise unrealistic delivery time so to ensure getting the order;
2. Once order taken, do take the responsibility for keeping the customer updated instead of fobbing them off onto a third party company.
I ordered an item of furniture for which I had been looking - to match some existing furniture. I was given the delivery date and it was delivered on the date at 9 am by two very helpful men who carried it into the house and put it where requested - no packaging for disposal. The item of furniture is excellent.
The name will never vanish.
I recently took delivery of a St Lucia bed - the bed itself is wonderful. Big and beautifully made. The delivery time was 1-3pm and the delivery was late (4pm) BUT despite the fact they were running behind the very nice delivery people spent 10 minutes putting the bed together for me as I wasn't able to do it alone. I really appreciated that.
Bought a chair which looks great, money went from my account on 14 July but so far have heard nothing about what has happened to it. Delivery was estimated on 2 August but so far have heard absolutely nothing.

I ordered two pieces of furniture from Barker & Stonehouse. From my initial enquiries through to ordering, amending my order and delivery, dealing with Barker & Stonehouse was a absolute pleasure. I encountered only helpful people who were happy to help and I would definitely recommend them.
And my furniture is beautiful too!
I had a terrible experience with Barker and Stonehouse. We thought by shopping with you we would receive a high quality no hassle product, how we were mistaken!
Bed arrived with no hole sets on the footboard so had to call the sales department as that was the only department open and let them know the issue. I eventually managed to persuade the clerk to arrange something with the Darlington manager to swap the footboard which we did.
Our journey to get to the nearest store Darlington is an hour round trip for us and once swapped we got home to find that the hole sets on the footboard did not match and would not match even if removed and moved up or down. The holes simply did not align.
This caused huge frustration and my partner had to re-drill the hole sets so that it would fit. We should never have had to do this however, we didn't want to sleep on the floor for the second night running.
Extremely disappointed with the product.
Just ordered a couple of stools for my son for his new London apartment. Everything from the placing of the order to the delivery was perfect. Especially the delivery. After being in London for the past seven years my son just loved the patter and the attitude of the two delivery men who had taken ages to find his new address in London and had called me overseas to find out exactly where to deliver. As I said my son was deliighted with the service and attitude of the Northern delivery men who reminded him of home and made him laugh.
Well doner Barker and Stonehose always reliable.
It goes without saying he loved the produce and I loved the price.
very happy with the quality of our items - but felt let down with the customer service - we were not kept informed of anything regarding a delivery date. Made many phone calls and emails and eventually got some satisfaction from Carol - but we did have to pick up our items from the warehouse ourselves.
We've bought quality furniture from Barker & Stonehouse, and in their SALE it was great value as some items were almost 50% off like our 2 seat settee and buy one get one free on the dinning chairs. They're over 10 years old and still look great, so even though they are on the more expensive side we still love the look and definateley got our monies worth. Just get yourself in and look around it inspires to try something different with your home and those little details that Barker & Stonehouse provide in their ornaments give everything an individual look. Although be careful with measurements, cause things can be deceiving in the big stores. I loved their Eastwood Settee but after measuring it, realised we wouldn't be able to fit anything else in our living room!
My B &S experience was pleasant from start to finish. The product range is great, delivery planning worked well, the delivery drivers I had were very pleasant, professional and polite and had my furniture assembled in next to no time with zero mess, a real credit to the company.
The fact that it is is British company too makes me certain to use them again.

Great products but the delivery organisation is poor . We ordered and paid on 3rd June and are still waiting for final confirmation of delivery of our bookcase . I have tried to use the tracking on the website but twice it has been down.
I'd trawled all sorts of websites to find new bedroom furniture which both my husband and I liked and had really struggled to find anything we could agree on. I saw an item I liked from Barker and Stonehouse and when I checked their website was surprised at the amount of items that we both liked. We placed an order and were waiting for a delivery date when I received a phonecall to advise me that they were going to place the set we had ordered in the sale and would be crediting our card with the amount we would have saved. I would never have known our items had gone on in the sale and was really impressed by this customer service. The delivery was quick and very efficient and the items we ordered are of very good quality and we are really happy with them. I would happily recommend Barker and Stonehouse to anyone looking for good quality furniture at reasonable prices and will be looking at their website again if we need to order anything in the future.
We ordered 4 dining chairs on 9 June. We specifically ordered them as they were stated as being in stock and speedy delivery. Having been let down by Dwell we had already been without dining chairs since mid April so the fact they were allegedly in stock made them attractive to us. On ordering I was told stock was due 28 June...so not in stock but just a few weeks so OK. I receive an email end of June to say mid July, I send two emails and receive an out of office email for both email addresses given. I received an email earlier this week stating mid August so more than 2 months since placing the order. Reason given is they are at the mercy of the manufacturer. If they are not in stock why does it say so on the website and its quite off putting when businesses blame their supply chain.
Since writing my original review Barker and Stonehouse have come up with a good resolution and compromise so happier now.

in the sale for many years to come.
Click & Collect means exactly that. Not Click then wait and wait while goods are transferred to a store. Trying to find out what is happening was also a disaster. The website facility for tracking was hard to find then did not work merely going through a constant loop. Telephoning did not help and eventually to be told we only deliver to store once a week seem to sum up how bad this Click & collect system is.
This was only a small order but it was an extra to a previous multi item order so important that we obtained a matching product. It clearly was un-important to B&S.
We did not think we would like Barker and Stonehouse, we have always mainly shopped at a competitor (John L). Anyway, after buying a new home, that can only be described as a quirky conversion, we could not find any furniture that suited it (we needed to replace most of it) anyway after a reluctant visit to Barker and Stonehouse, we were delighted to find the sort of items we were looking for, the settee is superb quality and everyone who sits on it tells us how lovely it is. The bedroom furniture is of the same good quality, solid wood and comfortable, and we are waiting for some of our study furniture to be delivered. We still have items we would like to buy from the store but are taking it easy on the wallet for a few months! On top of the lovely furniture, the service in the newcastle store is first class, not pushy, and the back office staff are just as good, very efficient. They gave good after sales follow up and also after we purchased the study furniture it went on sale, they phoned us to tell us we could have a partial refund without us having to ask. We will be buying more items soon!
2 weeks after ordering my table and bench arrived in great condition with lovely delivery men who built it quickly and gave me tips on how to look after it.
Really happy with my purchases and would really recommend Barker & Stonehouse.
I was told that my order would arrive in 2 weeks. On the day it was due to arrive I was told that this product is now out of stock and will be available in 6-8 weeks, with absolutely no explanation of why I wasn't told earlier. Terrible customer service, but they're happy enough to take my money.
If you value the after sales as much as I do don't go to barker and stone house, I spent £2500 there and and there cuoldn't even be bothered to call me back after I told them. The delivery people marked all the walls in the hall, landing and ceiling.
