Placed an order for a text book. Waited and waited. Finally I called them. My book was out of stock so they canceled my order but didn't bother to inform me. No email or phone call. I was 2 weeks into the semester before I could get my book ordered from another site. I will never buy from B&N again.

Alright!

Ordered one big Blu-ray Box from them with Destination Germany. The shipment surely took awhile but eventually it arrived. And as lucky as I am I didn't have to pay additional taxes....Great!

Love the store and love their website

This is my favorite bookstore, both online and offline. I can find any book I want, can preorder books, and shop for non-book stuff for presents - all in one place. My neighborhood B&N store is where you'll find me on weekend mornings, having a cup of java and reading. I feel their website is just as cosy, if you can say that about a website. ))

Love My Barnes and Noble

Seriously coffee and books.. what is not to love? The prices vary but are generally fair and so far I have never had a major issue with online or in store purchases.

Good site, but I like the store better

I'm an avid reader and I love going to Barnes and Noble bookstore, but not so much the site. It's a shame that bookstores are going the way of the dinosaurs because of the electronic revolution. There is something special about the smell of a freshly opened book. The website is good, but it can't compete with amazon.com.

I love Barnes and Noble

This is my all-time favorite bookstore. They have everything you could be looking for and more. I've heard others say they had trouble with the online shopping and receiving their items but I've never had this experience myself. In my opinion, one of the best bookstores out there.

A good overall book supplier.

I have been a Barnes and Noble member for a couple years now, and it has been a good experience. At first I wasn't a fan of spending $25 a year on membership, but now I see that if you're buying books anyway this is a good deal. You get savings on virtually everything, and that's just th beginning. They sent out coupons regularly for 20% off any one item, BOGO drinks at their cafe, etc. Sure, I don't use all of the coupons, but they do send a nice assortment. What I am loving right now is FREE shipping for members on ALL orders. That's right... No minimum purchase, no qualifying items, nothing. All of your orders that are completed by B&N (marketplace orders do not qualify, but whatever) are shipped to your home, free of charge, and you'll get them within just a few days. It's great!

My only major complaint with B&N... Sometimes their online prices are lower than their in store prices. I'll go home and find the book I just bought in a B&N store on their website for cheaper. I just try to check on this before buying any of the more expensive books.

If you have a B&N nearby (or do a lot of online shopping) and read a lot of books, I would highly recommend the membership. It's worth the cost.

I could write a book of how bad this company is.

They totaly stole my refund from me. I returned it exactly how they required and they denied reciving it. I will never trust them again they cost me over $150.00. I Richard G. Bartz swear this to be true. They also falsly avertised the nook I bought and returned to them. Stay away from BN !

Seriously, don't do it.

I ordered two USBs from their website, waited for two months and never received them. Their customer support is a joke: I've tried to contact them several times, but only through e-mail since I live in Europe and it's practically impossible for me to call them. They haven't replied, though I did get one of those automatically generated e-mails, advising me to chat online with one of their CSRs. They didn't even apologize or give me an explanation.
Also, gave me a tracking code which didn't work. When I asked them about it, they explained that my order had no tracking code :S I simply logged into my account and gave them the tracking code they gave me, yet they kept saying my order shouldn't have a tracking code. They couldn't even explain why they sent me one. Absolutely ridiculous, and the worst service ever.
After all that, I talked with them again, this time asking for a refund. I had no proof they ever shipped anything, yet they charged me as if nothing happened. It's been three months now, no refund yet.

Absolutely unacceptable - no refund, not even an apology.

*** update: I finally did get my refund, precisely 3 and a half months after I placed my order. Never got an explanation or an apology. Worst customer service ever.

Great shopping experience, good customer service for Nook

I have found shopping at Barnes and Noble online to be a great experience. My order was filled and shipped quickly, and I have had no problems with any of the products I have received.

I have also recently acquired a Nook color, and I have had to contact customer support regarding a few minor issues (mainly just learning on my part). Customer service has been very courteous and helpful on those occasions.

I will shop with Barnes and Noble online with great confidence in the future.

Terrible online sales experience, never buy from them or you will risk your information being sold

They advertise items on their website as fully in stock inviting consumers to buy from them. They let you place the order, then charge your card and then update shipping status so you think that you're ask set.then after nearly 24 hours you get an email out of the blue saying the item is no longer in stock and your order has been canceled. When you go back to check your account, your order is still listed as being processed to ship, so now you are left confused.nearly 48 hours later is when your account is updated to reflect the order has been canceled.

This was a terrible online shopping experience. In the age of the internet, you would think companies with huge online store fronts would at least update their item status in a timely manner. But it seems like there are still internet "experts" from the 90s running barnes and nobles store front and they make sure to take their time when doing anything.

After experiencing this kind mess while trying to buy technology from b&n I don't feel confident in buying any piece of technology from them.

Stay away from these guys and just stick with amazon if you want a streamlined shopping with excellent customer support. You will rarely find this kind of delay with amazon. And you can feel confident that amazon has a good grip on their electronics and technology marketing and stock since situations like huge delays in order cancellations and order status updates and unsolicited emails is not something you'll find with them.
