Purchased a small 1200mm bath from the Doncaster depot recently and was very careful when transporting it in my car, (easily fitted with seats down) back to my home. The bath was then carefully laid out on a single bed with all the packaging left on waiting for the tiler to come and finish the bathroom. When the bathroom was finished I then mounted the support legs and the waste fittings, only then was the outer packaging removed and the bath carefully fitted. When the waste was tested for leaks did I remove the protective film that covers the inside of the bath only to discover a small crack.
I contacted the company immediately as it could only have been damaged prior to me collecting it. 3 Days later the aftersales contacted me and asked me to send pictures of the damage which I duly did, following day received email to say that as per their terms and conditions they accepted no liability as I should have inspected the bath before leaving their premises, this would have meant removing all the packageing from the bath in their showroom which is not very practical apart from anything else I am sure the management and staff would not want this happening everytime someone collects a product with customers in and around the showroom it would not look very good.
I can't prove that I did not damage the bath, but it certainly gives them a get out clause.
I for one will never buy another product from this company and will most certainly make sure that everyone I speak to knows this and the reasons why.
