I ordered something small form the company before my last purchase so thought they were 'OK'. I was wrong! When i chose to order a mobility scooter from them, they were quick to take my order, Not very quick at delivery.
Delivery was agreed for a certain day, and they delivered the day before (which I didn't mind as it was in the evening). However despite a few weeks of usage the scooter soon developed problems. And those problems carried on and on for over a year. I was so fed up in fact that I got in touch with BHTA who looked into the problem and said 'they would get back to me' They Never DId!
So to summarise the BHTA stamp is not worth anything as they completely ignore any correspondence they received from me ( I even wrote to the head of the operation). This in turn means that companies have no one to answer to, meaning betterlifehealthcare is best avoided!
Haven't seen the chair yet, they have made two attempts at delivery - they could leave it on the porch. My son is at home but he keeps DHL courier because he is looking for work. You are not able to contact them by phone which is very annoying.
I bought a Capricorn power chair for my wife from Betterlife in August 2012. The battery wouldn't last more than a few hours at first, and within a few months it wouldn't last more than a few minutes. Betterlife tested it, said it was defunct and replaced it under warranty. Same with 2nd battery. Same with 3rd battery but by then The warranty had expired and Betterlife were not interested in helping us. We protested but were told it must be our fault!!! We purchased a new battery for £105 from another company and it is still going strong 3 days after its first and only charge so far. Won't be buying off Betterlife again unless they apologise for blaming me for something which wasn't our fault and refund the £105 which we had to pay for our first decent battery.
I would not recommend buying anything from Betterlife . We bought a mobility scooter earlier this year which did not get much because of the weather but when we did most times it broke down . Spoiled a holiday in Cornwall as it had to be pushed back to the car , we stopped on the way home to see Stonehenge and once again did 200yds before yet again breaking down . Contacted Betterlife again who seemed to know what the problem was straight away , they replaced the charging port and the lead to the battery BUT this took 5 weeks ! took it out AGAIN and it broke down again , we felt like throwing it in the sea ! pushed back to the car again . Contacted Betterlife who told me the batteries needed replacing , a courier would pick them up on Wednesday and would be back on Friday , Monday at the latest . TEN days later it arrived on a Saturday morning . Since then we have used it and no problems but we dont trust the thing ! I do not understand how a firm that sell disability aids and are linked to Lloyds pharmacy could be so inefficient and make promises they dont keep on such a regular bases . I would never recommend or use them ever again . It is funny that every time I phoned them they knew what was wrong... maybe this has happened to their scooters many times before ? Pete and Jan Gray
Recovering from a serious illness I ordered two raised toilet seats for home use, based on the illustration, which shows a seat 4-5" deep (I would estimate). The order was placed over the internet a week before I was due to be discharged home. 5 days later, while still in hospital, I got a phone call from a woman claiming to be from Betterlife, asking for my credit card details. The call was difficult to understand because her voice was painfully amplified and was intermittently drowned out by the voices of her colleagues dealing with other customers (not all happy by the sound of things). It took a long time to persuade her to give me enough details of the order to ensure it wasn't a phishing scam. My wife unpacked and installed the seats before I came home. They are a fraction the height shown in the photo and useless for my needs. The specs do show a height of only 2" but the picture is of a different product - misleading. Deliberately so? Of, course, now unpacked and installed they are not returnable and replacements difficult to get at a weekend - leaving me struggling. £40+ "down the pan". Would not shop with Lloyds Pharmacy/ Bettalife again.
Ordered over £2K worth of equipment for my mother in law, took 3 weeks to arrive despite telling them that it had to be there in 2 weeks and only arrived in 3 after 4 or 5 chasing phone calls. But the delivery guys were very helpful and the equipment is good - which got them back from 2 starts to three!
I ordered the Superlight Wheelchair which at the price expected to be a cheaper quality comparing to the price of others on there website. I was really pleased to recieve a very good model which having paid for next day delivery recieved suprisingly the next day. Having ordered smilar products online from others its nice to know that certain companies can still provide the level of service and value for money that they shout about.
Ordered a rollator Friday, arrived Tuesday with fixings missing. Rang straightaway. Repeatedly told something was being done and promises of call-backs. Not once was I called back by the company. Escalated to Customer Services manager. A catalogue of different stories from various members of staff about when I would receive fixings. Have not received them today Friday...live in hope they may arrive tomorrow? This company is good when they have something in stock but they seriously need to address their customer services issues. I shall be using a different supplier in future.
I ordered a simple pedal exerciser, which was simple and straight forward so I thought, until a couple of days later I received a swivel seat, which would have been great if that was what I had ordered. I phoned customer services to tell them what had happened, they apologised and said they'd send out a pedal exerciser straight away. Within a week I received a second package again to find another swivel seat. No more chances I cancelled my order.
I had a month of problems over a chair order - apparently due to the courier leaving the box out in the rain for a day (when the driver 'forgot' to put it on the van!) Consequently it arrived damaged with ALL the fittings missing, having falled out of the box. MANY frustrating phone calls and broken promises and, at the end, I was told the useless chair parts would be collected but I wouldn't get a replacement as there were no more. I had to kick up a stink unfortunately after being infinitely patient for weeks but was finally offered an apology and compensation. I've been assured that steps are being taken to avoid this sort of service in future.
seemed like capable company as suggested by people they say they supply ie NHS and BBC etc but two chairs ordered did not meet spec they said. They collected them very quickly but it took three weeks to get the money back although they did say this doesnyt happen often and offered a full apology after a few letters of complanit
