I ordered several books for birthday presents for my sons friends, I ordered them all in good time but over half didn't arrive in time. The website says 3-5 days for delivery, however this is definitely not the case. This left me running around at the last minute to find replacement presents. The customer service centre has been terrible, nobody has bothered to actually read my emails...everyone has just been met with a standard reply which hasn't answered any of my questions and you can't speak to anyone....they obviously don't care or can't be bothered. Avoid.
I'm a customer for the past 5 years and have always been pleased with everything up to 6 months ago. Recently, everytime I ordered a book, its taken between 5-10 working days just for it to be dispatched. This is not what it says on the website. I've questioned this each time its happened, and although their customer care team always respond, I feel that they should change the wording on the website as its misleading customers. I think I'll look for somewhere else to shop as I feel I can't trust the bookdepository anymore.
Per controbilanciare le sensazioni dell’esperienza negativa in rete che ho raccontato qualche giorno fa, tramite quest’altra mia opinione (decisamente opposta) sul sito inglese della libreria on line www.bookdepository.com (Guernsey) - con cui ho avuto a che fare tra l’agosto ed il settembre scorsi (2013) - desidero segnalarVi un’altra vicenda - di tenore contrario - dalla quale ognuno potrà trarre le sue conclusioni, allineate o no ai soliti luoghi comuni della “furbizia italiana” e quella degli altri, per non parlare poi della solita totale inefficienza delle nostre poste ecc.
• 22 agosto 2013: dopo alcuni tentativi falliti di acquistare prima l’edizione vecchia e poi quella più recente di un costoso libro americano (per chi è curioso: “Introduction to Electronics” di E.D. Gates editore Delmar), m'imbatto in rete col sito inglese della libreria sopra citata dove non solo trovo tutte le edizioni del volume (comprese quelle vecchie a prezzi scontatissimi anche se sempre consistenti) con in più l’offerta della spedizione gratuita.
Dopo aver valutato la convenienza del sito (allora comunque non avevo ancora percepito totalmente la bruciatura Ambroweb.net) provvedo all’acquisto, versando 76,91 € tramite carta prepagata del circuito Visa Electron che viene regolarmente accreditato.
L’ordine risulta registrato e numerato, ricevo le solite comunicazioni email di conferma.
• 27 agosto 2013: ricevo email dove mi si annuncia la spedizione del volume. Tempi previsti d’arrivo per l’Italia 10 giorni circa.
• 15 settembre 2013: li informo che il libro non è ancora arrivato e chiedo informazioni sulle modalità di spedizione: si scusano e spiegano di mandare tramite posta prioritaria per via aerea con Royal Airmail, poi si affidano al servizio postale italiano (posta ordinaria). Con una battuta gli spiego che allora capisco i motivi del ritardo: quando entro in un ufficio postale qui da noi di solito mi viene l’orticaria.
Preciso che ad ogni email che mando la risposta mi arriva (in inglese si capisce) al massimo entro un’ora (se scrivo alla sera al mattino del giorno dopo).
• 17 settembre 2013: stabiliscono che la spedizione è decisamente in ritardo e la ritengono dispersa. Mi preannunciano l’avvio della procedura di rimborso totale (…!...) della spesa riscusandosi per l’accaduto. Gli chiedo se pensano sia possibile un tentativo di rintracciarla: rispondono che non è previsto e molto difficile da attuare.
• 18 settembre 2013: mi confermano la richiesta di rimborso totale. Mi complimento per la correttezza e mi dichiaro disponibile a restituirglieli nel caso per combinazione arrivasse il libro.
• 20 settembre 2013: mi viene richiesta l’opinione per il supporto ricevuto
• 25 settembre 2013 : mi vengono riaccreditati 76,91 € sulla stessa carta Visa Electron che ho utilizzato per il bonifico di agosto.
• 8 ottobre 2013: il libro non è arrivato ma se arrivasse a gente così i soldi glieli rimando
Il confronto con il racconto precedente è impietoso.
Naturalmente anche in Italia esistono persone che, se trovano un portafoglio con 1500 € dentro, lo consegnano al proprietario o ai carabinieri, ma la differenza tra noi e loro – in media ovviamente - è che qui un episodio del genere fa notizia mentre la normalità è il contrario, da loro la consuetudine è rimborsare un ordine che non è arrivato a buon fine anche se probabilmente non è colpa loro.
I've ordered from this website maybe six times now, and have never came across any trouble. The price of the books is so much cheaper than what the stores are selling, and they always arrive in around a week to two weeks time. This is now the only place where I purchase books, and I can always count on it to stock up on great new titles. I would definitely recommend this site.
I have ordered five stationery / Note book items , from the Book Depository. All arrived safely and quite quickly , to my home in Canada. All were packaged well in cardboard sleeves. The value was far better than I could find within Canada , plus the shipping is free.. which is just fantastic. I will be back in future to order more items.

Wel is de levertijd over de jaren trager geworden en duurt het geregeld meer dan 2 of 3 weken voor het boek aankomt. Bij het zoekraken van een bestelling zonder problemen een vervangend exemplaar ontvangen (kon ook kiezen voor het terugstorten van het aankoopbedrag). Snelle reactie op email.
Ordered an item on a Saturday expecting to received it by the following Friday/Saturday (3-5 working days for delivery). 3 working days passed and item had not been dispatched! So it was late for the intended recipient's birthday. 6 working days later nothing arrives. Contact customer services and they said they are not prepared to resend via first class recorded delivery, so expect me to wait another 10 days?! If it actually arrives that is! I'd rather take a refund and get off amazon that in the past has been happy to resend missing items by recorded first class! This isn't the first time this has happened with the book depository, I don't know why I thought I should give them another chance! Would not recommend, would suggest amazon as an alternative!

March 20th, morning, I ordered two books but while waiting for showing up order conformation site, something wrong happened ... over 5 minutes I waited but finally my PC was frozen. Later I ordered again.
I was afraid that I might order same books twice and asked customer support to make sure and cancel one order if there are double orders. Customer support just sent cancelation notification about order BDA-010-04761169689 and never mentioned another order BDA-809-93761266545 active.
I checked my order history and knew there was BDA-010-04761169689 cancelled. Still now BDA-809-93761266545 has nat came up in my order history,
Later I ordered same books at Amazon com (I live in California, USA).
Next morning, on 21th, I got notification about order BDA-809-93761266545 and they said to me that ''Nineteenth fashion in detail' was dispatched (shipped ) and I could not cancel this ... I have to receive it and return it from SF USA to England. After they receive this, they will refund book fee on my credit card . Also they don't pay returning cost from SF, USA to England.
Many times I asked why this happened, why my order history can not show up order BDA-809-93761266545, why I need to pay returning cost from USA to England even though I have no way to know order BDA-809-93761266545, Customer support just said that they can not assist this case any more.
Also I read another review, same double order happened and he returned one book from Australia to England, it past 6 months, they continued to say ''they have not received it yet and they can not refund him". Finally he gave up collecting refund !!
I am so afraid that same case will happen and I can not get refund about book at all.
I am still thinking that book Depository must pay refund book and returning cost from USA to England.

I love the book depository. It is always the first place i visit when I'm trying to get a book that I couldn't find elsewhere. The delivery times are prudent, my books always arrive on the estimated date of delivery, and everything inside the package has been in order. I would highly recommend this site to anyone needing to buy some books.
Ordered 3 books, they shipped 4 weeks too late and 1 got lost in the mail.

Par contre, un choix ENORME, et un système d'envoi ultra rapide et très fiable.
Les prix sont souvent très bons (je compare toujours avec mon chouchou amazon).
Je suis un très consommateur de comics en VO, et se site est l'un de mes gros fournisseur.
Super plus, ils font des prix énormes pour les produits en précommande, donc si vous savez ce que vous voulez, attaquez au plus vite, vous aurez des remises énormes...
I'm a big book lover and whether buying books for myself or as gifts for friends and family I turn to the book depository. They have a massive selection and they're good value. I've ordered books from a few other places as gifts and have missed birthdays or christmas's, but the book depostitory has always been consistent with fast deliveries.
Can't fault them - keep up the good work!
I have found from experience that to place an order with the Book Depository is a very safe and reliable way of shopping. Everything I have ordered so far has been exactly as described and in addition the speed of delivery cannot be faulted.
I hate it when you order something only to be told in a follow up email that it wasnt really in stock. That has never happened to me here. I've ordered around 10 times and the books have always arrived quickly, well packed and just what I expected.
I used to use Book Depository all the time, as they were the cheapest on the net and were reliable. Sadly, since the Amazon takeover, they have gone downhill. I pre-ordered a book, waited nine months (it was delayed by the publisher) and then was told it was despatching soon. A month later my order was cancelled, by which time it was now impossible to purchase said book anywhere, as it has sold out. Brilliant, now I am stuck waiting for a second edition, which will be worth less. What's the point of pre-ordering if they can't fulfill the order when the book is published?!
Excellent service. Great choice of books at really low prices. Always deliver promptly. One of THE best online retailers I have come across. I always check their site first when looking to buy books, and more often than not I don't need to go anywhere else. Try them - you'll be glad you did.
We ordered from this company in September and October of 2011 and in both instances our order was shipped quickly. One of the books in the first order was damaged (pages appeared chewed throughout book) but this issue was quickly remedied by their able customer support who offered a refund or replacement. Overall, a very good service at good prices.
Have bought several items from Boo Depository, via Amazon, over the past couple of years. Great selection, very competitive prices, and despatched timeously and received in the condition stated.

I have used this website several times in the past with no problem and have found their range of books comprehensive and competitively priced.
The only problem I encountered was a book I ordered last month which failed to arrive. I contacted The Book Depository to inform them and they advised that I should contact Royal Mail to see whether they were holding the item for me (no, they were not), but Royal Mail suggested I wait a few more days. The book still did not arrive, so I informed The Book Depository who duly agreed to send me out another copy at no charge to myself. This second book HAS arrived so I am more than happy with the service offered by this company and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!
