I ordered two items, neither of which, as it turned out, was in stock. Nevertheless, Bristol Cameras immediately helped themselves to full payment. One of the items was shipped a few days later. Two weeks on and I'm still waiting for the vital second item, despite being promised shipping within a few days. The brief telephone conversation with them gave every indication that they couldn't care less. I won't be back, and potential customers should think twice before dealing with this retailer despite the decent prices (and rip-off shipping charges).
I will never order from this company again. They are untrustworthy, you place your order, it goes from "pending" to "acknowledged" ? What in heaven's name does that mean ??
I phoned and asked, it sounded like the person answering was moving his lunch off his keyboard. He never answered my question but said he would call back and tell me about my orders. No phone call but an email much later telling me when I might expect my order.
At no time was I informed that my items were on backorder, this was to stop me canceling and going with another company, with whom I would have got the item sooner. I will never order from a company that is not upfront - when will they learn.
I went through the process of setting up an account, entering payment details blah blah blah only to have the order cancelled the next day. Reason? No stock. Come on guys - either do the job properly or stop wasting peoples' time and patience.
Tried to order a simple camera case....in stock on site....best price on web. Company takes order....next day get the usual out of stock e-mail....stock to follow later in the week. They even admit on their site that they don't hold much stock, particularly on smaller items. NO e-mail address to contact (did find a few searching online but they never reply). All 3 phones lines not working! Eventually managed to get though on the shop one after 2 hours to cancel. Just not good enough chaps....
Purchased new Sigma 18-250 lens with free hoya filter. Free filter did not arrive with lens so had to call the shop. Was told they had run out of the filters and should be in in next 7 days. Would have been easy for them to let me know this without me having to phone them. Will see if 'free' item arrives and will repost either way.
placed an order and after a few days of hearing nothing i emailed them, they replied quickly hence the 2 stars and said they were ordering it that day? i just cancelled the order and i won't use them again. Would just be nice to be kept informed of what's happening
I ordered a Crumpler New Delhi camera bag from them this week and two days later it was delivered. No fuss, no dramas.
I can highly recommend Bristol Cameras.
On the downside, I wanted to telephone them prior to placing the order and I was disappointed to find the only telephone number available to me was a premium rate number. This is on the sales line and to me is unacceptable.
Other than that, check out Bristol Cameras for great prices.
Purchased camera equipment from Bristol Cameras due to very good price. My credit card did not seem to match with my address on their machine but a friendly CSA called me promptly and validated my information without issue. Only grip is postage charge of £5 is a little high for standard Royal Mail delivery. Great experience otherwise.
Order was confirmed, payment by BACS. Stock was confirmed by email prior to payment being made. Once my payment clears, a new delivery date of 2-3 months is given. This is for a £400 camera lens, and is unacceptable.
